Hmm it is so weird. Also shes stated being super mobile around the bed, the cot sheet only worked for a few days now she can roll over in it. Its waking her up and now I am at a loss as to what to do, short of sleep her on her stomach. She fights any and all wrapping. Rolls on her side constantly in attempts to get onto her stomach and wakes up constantly.
Any ideas? I am going to try a single sheet next :( But other than sleeping her on her stomach what can I do?

What does she do if you leave her without the wrap? Does she cry and generally not settle at all, or just roll around a bit get comfy and go to sleep eventually? I know my CHN says that once they're able to roll tummy sleeping is less of a problem because they're able to shift their heads to make sure they get good air-flow.
It's really sounding like short of using a straightjacket your little miss just doesn't want to be wrapped up. If you do try different sheets etc, have a look at Hip-Healthy Swaddling to make sure it's not too tight etc.

Yeah she cries and generally dosent settle, its like she dosent know what she wants. I've tried sleeping bags too but it takes her an AGE to get to sleep, then she wakes up alot. Would you suggest I just put her down and see what happens? On her back first? She can flip herself from her side to her back if I put her down that way, she can't quite get onto her stomach yet from her back but almost gets there now. Funny she only does this in bed.
I dont care if I have to swaddle her or not, its just I dont know how to get her to settle without it. She seems so up and down. Just tried to lay her one her tummy with no wrap but she just lifted her head and cries and kicked her legs.. /pulls hair out

I use ergo cacoon. It has the option to have arms in or out. Once babies can roll I think you can sleep them either side.
I'm glad Levi cant roll yet but he does worm up the cot lol

Her legs seem to be the biggest issue, not her arms which is the problem most swaddles hold their arms down, she wants them up near her face. I really need to get this worked out but she isn't helping me ;(

LOL - just a quick thought...are you putting Lilly down after a feed? if so, are you sure she has had enough to drink? she may still be hungry...and maybe she still has some wind? I usually, after a feed, sit Zoe upright for at least 30 minz then put her in bed where she puts herself to sleep.

No not after a feed, she is up for about 30mins before going down to sleep either playing or talking to one of us. She had tummy time today then layed talking and playing with dad then was tired. If she is hungry, not much I can do, shes always been a crappy eater and once she feels shes finished, I can't get her to eat more I've tried that and she just spits it out again. I feel like I'm going around in circles.

Nikky could be onto something there - I find the feed/play/sleep routine doesn't exactly work for Alex as by the time he's getting tired from playing and ready for sleep he's also hungry again (piggy-wig!) so he likes a small feed to relax/top him up before he has his nap. He then sits up on my lap for a few mins before I put him into his cot awake and he'll wriggle/chatter for a little bit before nodding off.
Mind you, he also takes a bit longer to get to tired stage - he's usually up for 45mins to an hour sometimes a bit more.

Yeah I've tried giving her a feed before bed but its hit and miss to if she will take it. Most of the time she wont. I'll try again next nap and see what happens. I thought that too, but she is such a fuss pot with her food. I put her in a single sheet with the dummy as she was really worked up by this stage and she went to sleep finally but I have no idea if it was the sheet or not I dont think so becuase shes waking on and off again. Yeah Lilly can be awake for up to an hour and a half before she starts geting tired nowadays... I'm starting to question everything at the moment becuase nothing works for more than a day or 2. Super frustrated atm :(
Last change for swaddles is I ordered a woombie. This is the last thing I'm buying as I've spent too much trying to find somethign that works for her. If it dosent not sure what to do. It is only her days that are so all over the place. Her nights are fine, aside from increased waking latley, she will just eat and go back to bed. The whole wrapping thing is waking her up though I think becuase she tries to roll then wakes herself up.
DH is totally hopeless not helping at all just standing aroudn shrugging his shoulders.. big help.

Danni wowwww I wouldn't have let my DH go away at all, so your very understanding! But yeah I'd be super frustrated of I were you! Especially with three children- I find one time consuming enough!you must be exhausted! Violet has also started feeding more at night, exactly the same as Abby! She was going till 4am, now back to 2am! And last night it was 1:30!
Lolpigs- Yeah violet has figured out how to get out of the cot sheet wrap too! Not sure what to do either... She just loves to wriggle her way out of anything it seems!
AM- hmm very interesting about the hypnotism! Where did you go for yours? Was it a local place or somewhere in the city? I really will have to give it a go I think!

I don't so much do this with Abby but because Jaxon (DS2) was so hit and miss I used to lay him in the cot on top of the cot quilt and not worry about blanket sheets etc. But dress him to the weather, probably easier for me cos we have aircons going all the time. Even with Abby most the time she kicks the blanket off but I normally dress her in a long onsie so I just leave her be.
Abby slept to 5:30 this morning which was alot better but she did wake at 1 and started moving and huffing about so I just popped the dummy in and she settled back to sleep.
I think I only cope so well because Abby really is quite an easy baby. She's happy to spend alot of the morning on the play mat.
Ahhh Nikky an extra active child don't think would add too much more chaos :)

Wow that was a long offline for the website. Well Lillys teeth are still causing issues, however had some success on the wrapping front, I started doing her arms down and she didnt protest, legs free See where we are in a few days. I have also started adding thickener to her food as her reflux is back, seems to have settled it again.. ;(

It's been an amazing time watching Levi develop the last few days.
He's learnt to push himself up when laying on his stomach. Loves the baby in the mirror. Has bathes in the big bath with either hubby or I. Teeth are moving, can see one of his front teeth under the gum. Slowly growing out all his 00 clothes. Really takes notice when you talk to him and sign too.
I'm so madly in love with him.

That's so cute :) How's his Auslan going? Was is just something you wanted to teach him or do you have friends or reletives that are hearing imparied? (Just interested as my mum taught the deaf for many years shes a teacher) Lilly is in the big bath with us now, growing too fast! Thankfully she slept from 8pm - 6:30am and was super cheery this morning. Was a nice rest :)
I hope his teeth don't bother him too much, Lilly's arent even visable and she is in so much pain :( WOW he is growing so fast! Going to be a big boy!
Lilly still cranks at me when I give her tummy time, she can lift herself easily but dosent like it for some reason, I think she gets frustrated she can't move LOL

Wrapping success :) and discovered after introducing thickener Lilly likes a top up before bed. I really think her reflux was still bothering her. Thanks for the help guys, fingers crossed :)
Bought her a bouncer yesturday, she loves it Watches me do the washing up and fold the washing and her nappies hehe :)
Jan, the thickener really helped Lilly's reflux does Jess have something similar it might help? Also I found this website today, perhaps you can get more tailored support aside from Tressilian who just look after sleep issues?

We went out to dinner last night for DH's work and left the boys with friends and just took Abby with us. Wow did she put on a patty cos she wasn't home.. She is a complete angel at home but I couldn't settle her at all last night, all she wanted was to sleep but wouldn't sleep on me and in the end she had a short nap in the pram from us rocking the pram.

Lolpigs, I wanted to learn it and there are mixed classes here (deaf, vision impaired and learning difficulties). I have started doing signs at him when he's watching but I he doesn't have enough hand co ordination to respond yet.
Levi was 6.91kg on Wednesday lol. He's almost into 0s lol

I feel your pain Danni - have had a roughish couple of days with Alex, as my brother and niece are here from Brissie so we've been out a fair bit. The weather certainly hasn't been helping, we wound up with an over-tired, over-heated meltdown last night just before we were meant to be going out for my bro's 40th. Eventually managed to settle him down but having a cool shower and leaving him in just a nappy for a while, and I think he's catching up on sleep today, been asleep most of the day aside from a few wake-ups for feeds and such.
Yay for finding something that works at least for a while Lolpigs :)
Wow Levi is a big boy AM! Mind you, Alex is cracking 6.5kg by now I'd say, sometimes when I'm feeding him he's such a dead weight

CK the breastfeeding pillow is a god send when he is really sleepy and feeding.
I weigh Levi weekly at the Child and Youth Health centre. They are doing getting to know your baby classes, settling, massage and notice about other avaiable services. It's a 6 week course.

Lolpigs I'm so glad you have found something working for Lily. I swaddle Aubrees otherwise she wakes herself up.
I love my feeding pillow. When I was pregnant I thought it would be the biggest waste of money.. My grandma bought me one as a gift, and its honestly the best!!!
Aubree is so little compared to Levi and Alex! When I weighed her last week she was 5.1kg, so almost double her birth weight :) but still a petite little girl.

Levi slept from 8:30pm to 7:30am lol. It stormed here last night and our roof is tin, if he's anything like me he would of loved it. Pitty I didn't sleep as well as I could of :(

Harriett has got a flu or cold ... poor thing has had a fever on and off since last night!
Zoe was unsettled last night as well! Hope she isn't getting it :( She seems fine today, I took her down to the shops as I needed to get some more panadaol and nurofen for H, and while there, the Terry White Chemist has this area for weighing babies now! Got a free goodies bag as well! bonus!
Soooo.... Zoe is 13 weeks old today and is weighing :o 7.065kg

Poor violet has little bits of eczema on her face- anyone else's baby getting this? I heard they get eczema from about 2 months old.. I get it myself a bit but hoped she wouldn't get it, poor thing!
She keeps stuffing her fist so far into her mouth that she gags!

Amanda what do you use for the eczema? When Abby had that rash I slapped on the trusty sudocream.
Nikky nothing worse than having a flu through summer, hope Harriet recovers quick.
Abby was 5.2kg a couple of weeks ago. I was trying to think when the weight gain stabilizes a bit but couldn't think.
She's ok this morning but was really grumpy over the weekend, more so each afternoon. Yesterday as I was putting her in the car she did this cry as though I had pinched her with the seat belt of something, she really wasn't happy. She slept till 6:30 this morning from about 8:30 last night, she didn't even open the eyes for the 10pm feed it was just quickly put it in her mouth feed and bed straight away and then this morning she fed at 6:30 and went straight back to bed till 10:30. She's definitely a baby that likes her little routine.

Well little mister hasn't liked being wrapped threw me a curve ball last night. He's been quite unsettled with our routines being all out of whack with my brother here and the weather being feral, had another screaming meltdown last night that not even a car ride would fix. Got home and thought I'd try a shower, wrapped him in a towel to get him ready and as soon as I wrapped him he stopped crying. So I rewrapped him in a sheet as it was cooler than his towel, he had a little feed laying in bed with me then went right off to sleep. I loosened the wrap once he was in bed asleep, but aside from a couple of short wakes for feeds he stayed in bed till nearly 8am!
We're currently at the pools, he's fast asleep as splashing in the heated baby pool is tiring work apparently. For those who take their bubs swimming though, how long do you usually keep them in for before they get too cold?

CK just use him as judgement, there lips tend to turn a bit purpleish when a bit cold and goosebumps too I find. Generally we only have Abby in the pool for half hour and she's had enough. Then I give her time laying on a towel naked to kick around. Dry him first of course and presuming your more than a few meters away from people and in the shade :)

Danni, I bought aveeno baby dry skin cream for eczema- but I might try the trusty sudocream! Thanks for the tip! The aveeno cream doesn't seem to clear it up...!
Er, excuse my ignorance but what nappies do you use when taking baby swimming?! Or do you not use a nappy? Hahaha I feel dumb asking that!

Got a different GP cos my old one wouldn't give us WC vacs
(said we were probably already immune- I thought that was a bit negligent so got a new GP) anyway the new GP wanted to do a blood test to check immunity too... Sooo DH and I had a blood test this morning to check! Ugh what a lot of fuss!
I have booked a women's physio appt for Friday to work on getting my tummy muscles to join back together! It's expensive but if it helps, then it's worth it! My tummy is pretty flat again but about 5cm gap in between the muscles!!!!

Yep, Huggies make swim nappies or some companies make reuseable cloth ones too. Was talking to another mum today who uses a cloth swim nappy and she said they work fine for BF poo too :)
Thanks for that tip Danni, we're mostly in heated pools indoors, so go have a warm shower afterwards. A physio attached to the hospital he was born at does baby-swim from 8 weeks, so thinking I might sign him up as he loves the water already :)

We have emptied the pool and it's going to be filled in so Levi can have a fenced play area :) just have to get hubby off his ass to do it lol.
Feeling very grumpy and out of sorts tonight. Like I use to before a period, hope I'm not getting one yet :(

Just bought a book for violet that I used to have when I was little that had gone out of print but is back in print again online- Samantha Seagull's Sandals :) I've still got a few books I had when I was little, and those are such fun to read to violet.. At first I couldn't work out why she didn't seem that interested in getting read to, but I have since worked out she really needs to be in a good awake mood, I can't really read to her if she's getting sleepy at all!

Ugh, Alex's chucking is getting worse...got drenched again last night. It still doesn't seem to bother him much, he's a bit unsettled before he spews, has his chuck and then is right as rain again, smiling and laughing. Meanwhile, I'm madly trying to clean up the river of off-smelling milk, changing him and sometimes changing me as well. He's still producing plenty of wet nappies and is growing well, but geez I'm over the smell :sick:

My period came back last month. I had spotting here and there for awhile and then nothing. Then when it came it was with a vengeance.

We have an appointment with a different paed next week so hopefully he will be better than my current one who doesn't want to see us again. Jess was up yesterday and crying from 12noon until 9pm. I was soooo over it. Had to make lunch with her crying, eat lunch with her crying, cook dinner with her crying..you get the picture! Today she is unsettled again. Not happy just to sit when awake which makes it super difficult. Its so hard to get anything done. DS starts back at preschool tomrorow which is great because he is so bored but I'm dreading the morning rush on 4 hours sleep.

:hug: Jan. feel free to talk to me anytime! Same with me with my AF I had a little bit for a day or so then nothing, I'm dreading next month! Going back on the normal pill for the first time in forever because we want to space out the next bub.
What a shame :( The thickener seems to help Lilly, she still chucks but they aren't very frequent and don't seem to hurt her as much as they used to. We dont get chucks that have that awful off milk smell and the forceful chucks have settled right down. That's good about that website, hopefully it is, I'm going to be joining.
Do you have a sling you can put her in? I use the Sleepy Wrap I got from Nursing Angel when Lilly is like that saves my life keeps her upright and lets me at least get on with my day a little bit. Will she take a dummy? Lilly wouldnt at first but gets great comfort from it when its acting up. Holds it in herself. Gives the ears and sanity a bit of a break too. At the peak Lilly would cry around the dummy at intervals but it was better than nothing.
We are going to a new pead too, last one was useless wasnt interested becuase she didn't have pathalogical symptoms and wasnt vomiting up blood. Losec didnt work so he was out of ideas. Hopefully we both get some more support.

Awww jan you poor thing! That sounds so hard... Must be very draining emotionally too... We are all proud of you, your doing such a great job hanging in there! I was thinking with the tressillian appt on valentines day, you were worried they may not see her at her most unsettled? It might be worth filming her if you can when she is super unsettled, so you can show them? Good luck with the new pead, my fingers are crossed for you that things get better really soon!

:hug: Jan, you are doing such a fantastic job - we're all here anytime you need us. Hope the new Dr can give you some better advice, or at least more support! Was talking to my mum this week, apparently my sister was a refluxy baby who screamed for about the first 4 months - you wouldn't know it looking at the gorgeous 22 year old she is now. It will pass, though it might not always feel that way when you're in the depths of hours of inconsolable crying.
Well aside from the first round of AF which was a bit longer and heavier than usual, seems she's vamoosed again. Or the depo has kicked in properly and I won't have another until I come off it (hopefully!). Was talking to DH last night, he's of a similar mind to me where we'll have the next injection when it's due next month, which should cover until Alex is 7 months, then we're thinking we might just see what happens from there....he wants to have the next one sooner rather than later so he's still fairly young and can run around with them etc, plus means we're out of the baby stage in one go rather than dragging it out. I might be a little bit happy about this :D Now just to hope my body co-operates with the master plan :lol:

I've been feeling very lonely at home, I've told hubby but neither if us have thought of a solution yet.
Levi has been feeding like a trooper this week, I have a feeling between a growth spurt and 2 teeth visibly moving its comforting. He's also been super clingy and having explosive poo.

My solution for being lonely at home is to not be home I think....I try to have an outing of some kind at least every alternate day, whether it's mothers group, rhyme time at the library, catching up with friends who also have young kids etc. Maybe have a look around and see what's available in your area?
