Oh Jan - that sounds like it has been so so tough and incredible that you've got yourself, your gorgeous little girl, boy and even DH through to this point. I think that has probably taken every single ounce of you and def shows what a brilliant mother you are. It sounds like it's def time to accept some help now - otherwise you're going to burn yourself out! Noone can keep that up. I was talking to MCHN and she was starting conversation re sleep schools as hopefully, the Losec has his reflux more under control and now we just need to help him break habits he's formed with his sleep bc of this..
Re solids- the reflux is meant to get better as they get older right? So who knows - in 6wks time her little tummy may be that much better at keeping things down and be able to deal with the solids better. Think how much they develop in 6 weeks and remember that is happening to them physiologically too.. fingers crossed. I really hope the specialist paed provides some support for you as it is that absolute worst watching your bub in pain. Interestingly a friends mum told me the other day that my friend had really bad reflux when she was a bub and screamed and cried heaps and as a child/adult she doesn't remember a thing and is a psychologically well adjusted woman!

What are people's opinions of controlled comforting? Eg diff to controlled crying as you don't leave bub for longer than 1 minute (just long enough to register you've left if they;re not responding to your attempts to comfort them). Its what the sleep schools suggest to help Gus sleep past the 45min mark. So the idea is at 45mins he wakes crying, needs more sleep but he FIGHTS it (ie screams!). I go in, 'shhh' him, turn him on his side and rock/pat him, replace dummy if needed. If no response after a few mins or so then I can either pick him up until he calms down, then put him back in cot (he'd start screaming again) and repeat steps 1, then leave room for a minute if no response and then repeat process. When rocking/aptting him in cot thye say to lean right around bub and cuddle/touch them anything that soothes them...
It sounds so hard but I so want him to be able to have longer day sleeps... otherwise he's a bit of a mess/tired/cranky/feeds poorly etc.
Advice?
