Bec - ahh tummy pains are so hard to help them with.... in addition to the methods you tried, I also lay Hannah across my forearm. Her head is near my elbow, her feet near my hand, she sometimes lies completely on her tummy on my arm and others sort of on her side. It also means if she spits up it just goes on the floor. I try it along with all the ones you mentioned and hopefully each one helps work the wind out til it doesn't hurt. If Hannah is really desperately unsettled then I give her another bath and if she has that inconsolable angry pain cry I give her some panadol. Mind you have only given panadol once in those circumstances, and it was after about an hour of that sort of crying.

Hope tonight is a better night for you both. And awesome about the giggle. Too cute by far. I love it when H giggles and so does she - she seems just so pleased with herself.

I took a leaf from your book last night. Hannah was restless in her sleep and woke up at 10pm, 2 hours after I got her to sleep. So I brought her into bed with me and gave her a BF lying down and we both went to sleep until DH came home from work. Then DH put us both to bed ( me on my side and H in her bassinette beside me).

I think Hannah is not far away from starting to roll. She eeked one out yesterday after about 20 mins of effort - poor kid. I saw her trying before when she was supposed to be sleeping but she's in the land of nod now, so no more attempts til later.

PHHHHHEEEEEW we had a good night last night. She went to sleep at 6:45 then woke at 2:30 am then went back to sleep until 5 when she had a nightmare and I went and got her and brought her in with us. Ended up waking up then at 7:15. So not too bad! My instincts are telling me that she doesnt have reflux but if it gets real bad again, I will get her checked out.

Dory - Chloe looks like DH and not like me at all ha ha. I see so much of him in her its rediculous! She has got my hair colour though (strawberry blond). Thats something at least.

Fuzzy - I reckon you're doing great following your gut instincts - and if you don't feel it's reflux, then go with it. Mummy's instinct is best!

Dory - that's too funny re HB working away at her rolling! I reckon Annika is a way off for now.

Bec - woo hoo on the gentle methods! I'm sending lovely sleepy-at-the-time-mummy-would-really-like vibes your way.

Pantha - I'm so sorry to hear you've had the stress of worrying about Charlotte's weight gain, but I'm glad things have improved for you. Remember mummy guilt is WAY overrrated (I do my best not to indulge but it can be difficult sometimes!). And also no matter WHEN it is you change how you're feeding there is always mixed feelings about it, whether weaning or adding formula or whatever. It's normal to feel some sadness, but hey she's doing well with the formula and that's great.

Ah lots more persies i think I've missed, but g'day to everyone else! As for us, DH is still sick but improving slowly - he's managing to work 1/2 days but that tends to wipe him out. So it's still a bit mental but I'm now doing project 365 to keep myself sane, it's a wonderful distraction, plus trying to just exercise & eat healthy. I started on Monday and i'm feeling good for it. It's funny, when I had my first baby I always thought I'd realised how you just have to super-prioritise and let things go... and now again with a toddler & baby AND a sick hubby.... i'm doing it more than I ever did before! I figure my kids will remember a happy mummy more cheerfully than a miserable stressed out mummy with a clean house! DH's vertigo tests are next week, so really hoping for some answers. Also Xander had a supervised food challenge this week at RCH for sesame. He passed with flying colours (yippee) and just has to have sesame daily for 1 more week (with no reaction) and it'll be taken off his allergy form (still allergic to egg & treenuts). His retesting for his other allergies (skinpr!cks) is next month and I am hoping beyond hope that he has grown out of eggs too . I'm still having to do LOTS of cooking from scratch for DH's low sodium diet (the other reason we want answers about his vertigo). ROFL I'm superwoman! Nah not really, I get stressed out about it all sometimes, but I'm trying to use coping strategies as a conscious thing & it's definitely helping.

Hope you all have happy slumbering bubbas tonight. Annika has a little cold at the moment & sounds pathetically hoarse & snuffly - poor little mite. But she's slept MORE than usual today, so that's a silver lining!

Dory - thanks I might try that holding position tonight if Isaac gets bad belly pains again. I've tried Infacol again, I haven't used it since that time I overdosed with it, and now it seems to work. Infants Friend and Gripe Water don't work for Isaac. He hates the taste of them and spits them out. Infants Friend leaves his skin red where it spills on him, so I think he must have some kind of reaction to it as he always cries worse after taking it. With the Infacol though, his sleep is back to normal and feeding (but not completely waking) every 3-3.5 hours. I haven't had to try panadol yet.
Ooh I hope you enjoyed the snuggly sleepy bed feed, love it Sounds like Hannah Bear will be rolling everywhere soon! So cute. Isaac doesn't roll every day yet. He is funny, I put him down for tummy time, he rolls onto his back and just looks around like he doesn't know why the view changed.

fuzzy - glad you got a good night sleep I had a better night too, well compared to the bad nights we've had lately.. Isaac fed at 11, 2, 5, then woke up properly at 8. I hope you're right and Chloe doesn't have reflux. Cute new pic of her in your signature by the way!

Belfie - I hope Annikas cold goes away soon and that your DH also gets better. I have to agree 365 is a wonderful distraction, but a little too distracting - I'm getting no study done!!

Isaac had a huge sleep today, it was almost 5 hours! In the middle of the day. Tonight will be interesting

    Hi ladies,

Sounds like some of you are having a really bad time with wind. We are pretty lucky in that department so I have np new remedies but it is nice to have a reminder about the drugs (which we have but have never had to use).

I worked hard last week to bring Pearl's sleep pattern back so she would go down for the night before 10pm. I managed it but the first few nights I got her down at about 7pm then dreamfeed her at about 10:30pm she then woke every 2hrs or so all night So I have now tried her without the dreamy and she tends to wake at about 1am then 4am then 7am. So after having weeks of just one feed overnight we now have two! I am not sure moving bed time was such a great idea! Last night was a bit of a nightmare, she was up from about 1am until about 5am!! then got up at the usual time (I was sure she would sleep in).

Other than that I have started being a scout leader again (I quit after I had the big beled at about 13weeks and had to slow down with something). Also we have now got some great plans from the architect for our new house - we are really excited and are headed to Adel next week to check out colours etc. I'll put the plans on FB and would love feedback about the layout.

I decided to pop over to Melbourne to see my mum and sis since I was going to be in Adelaide anyway (it's about halfway there) so I will be there in about 10 days.

I got a conditional acceptance from uni yesterday so I just need a letter from my boss and hopefully I will be in ( problem is I am supposed to have 2yrs management experience which I don't really have - we will see if they accept the letter my boss sends).

Pearl has started really chuckling long and loud - it is soo cute - Lois' (the dog) tail wacked her in the face when she was in the jolly jumper yesterday and she absolutely cacked herself! Also yesterday I had a case of really bad mummyitis - I left Lois tied up out the front of the supermarket for 3 hours!!! I didn't remember until someone phoned me to tell me - talk about guilt! At least it wasn't Pearl!

Chuckie - I am so glad someone called you, what a nice place you live! The only thing you can do is say Phew, and try not to do it again. You had me laughing with the picture of Lois' tail whacking Peal and her just laughing. Sorry to hear Pearl is having whacking sleeping... OMG up for 4 hours in the night? That's how H used to be... it is so tiring. Hope you're ok today. Enjoy your trip to Adelaide and Melbourne! A road trip huh?

Belfie - YAY for Xander passing his sesame test! Hoping he get through the next lot ok and then is allergy free. A friend of mine - her DH had vertigo too and was on low sodium diet. It is a LOT of hard work making EVERYTHING from scratch - I didn't realise that just about everything has salt in it.... even the humble tomato sauce or bread. YOU ARE SUPER MUM. I am glad you are taking time to do something for yourself - it's important. I'll bet even though you're tired, you actually have more enthusiasm and energy. Hope Annika's cold gets better real quick.

Bec - Glad something seemed to help your little man. I only have Infacol and it seems to work when needed. Have only used it about 3 times though.

I am going to take Hannah into my work for "show and tell" today - I am really looking forward to it. I can't believe it's taken me this long - well actually I can - I wanted her to have her 8 weeks vaccinations first, and then it was her christening, and then christmas, and then my brother's birthday and then the floods. Anyway, she's much more interactive now so people will get more out of seeing her and she will get more from seeing them. Then I have a medical appointment, so DH is going to mind Hannah at his workplace. Ha... am I mean or what? Overstimulating Hannah and then leaving her with DH.... ah well he's up to the task and he can always take Hannah for a walk, weather permitting. She hasn't yet got the ahng of sleeping in her pram seat .. we graduated from the bassinette/carry cot and she's still getting used to it.

    Toodles.

Belfie - I like looking at yours and Becs pics on FB for the 365 project. Such a great idea - I just know I wouldnt be able to do it (no talent or time)! Great news for Xander! I hope the rest of his tests are all negative for allergies too. I agree with Dory - you are a super mum!

Bec - I found Brauers colic medicine stuff works the best for Chloe. DH thinks its a crock, i.e. just basically herbal tea. But if it works it works

Dory - Thanks for the FX. She woke at 11:30 then 3:30 then 5:30 - then through until 7. Not tooooo bad but could be lots better thats for sure! ha ha. So how did your show and tell go?

Chuckie - yes I think when they first go down for their night sleep they sleep the best and longest. So the later they go down, the further through the night they go. I am just selfish and want my own time after 7pm with a glass of wine and some crappy tv! oooo housy stuff. love it - will check it out

She has been great today though. Slept 9:30 - 11:30 am then went down again at 1:45 pm and is still asleep a little over an hour later. Had mothers group yesterday and it was great! Chloe is one of the oldest and was rolling all over the other bubs the cheeky monkey. Earned herself a scratched ear which bled a bit for her efforts of trying to smother a larger baby boy. hope everyone is having a nice day x

Chuckie - cool looking forward to checking out your house plans. How exciting! I loved that part of it when I renovated (well, practically rebuilt) my old house. Have a great time in Melbourne and Adelaide Crossing my fingers for your uni acceptance

dory - I hope your show and tell went well

fuzzy - lol at Chloe rolling over the babies haha too cute. Thanks I might give that colic medicine a go if the Infacol doesn't work

We've had a fun day, mothers group then swimming at the local pool with a couple of the other mums and bubs. At MG us mums were making toys while the babies were being looked after by the childcare staff. At one point we looked over and Isaac and a baby girl were lying next to each other, Isaac reached out and grabbed her hand! So cute, they held hands for a while then he ruined their 'moment' when he tried to grab her ear haha.

Hi girls, just thought I would throw an idea out there.. For the melb girls if you would like to catch up for lunch or something some time? My new yrs resolution was to get out more and make more friends as I'm a shocker for being a hermit!
I'm gonna go to more of the big BB meetups this yr so thought if u guys were up for it we could get out? I know a few of us aren't that far away from each other... Only an idea, I know we are all busy mummies

Bec - loving the story about Isaac - a ladies man already?

Fuzzy - ROTFL about Chloe rolling over the other bubs, that is so funny. Glad things improved a little on the sleep front. After the night feed last night Hannah was in her bassinette blowing raspberries - it was very hard not to laugh aloud.

Buzzie - what a great idea.... if ever I am in Melb I will let you know and maybe we can catch up.

Show and tell went really well - Hannah turned on all her charm and even was really good for DH while I was at an appointment, after her show and tell. LOL though when I got to DH work he was nursing Hannah and said "Oh good you're here - can you take her? I have been busting for the last half an hour". Though she's been quite unsettled today - think she has some windy pain. Have managed to eek 30 mins and then about 20 mins of sleep so far.... First poonami that I didn't get early yesterday and some of the poo had dried on her skin. Wow, it sticks like glue when it's dried. I cleaned her up as best I could then jumped in the shower together just to rinse off any last lingering bits.

Buzzie - that's a great idea, if I was in Melbourne I'd love to catch up and introduce our babies! Getting out and making friends is one of my resolutions too. From the week after next I'll be going to swimming lessons on Mondays with the mothers group girls, and play group on Fridays, and I might see if anyone from mothers group wants to come to the library and/or pool on another week day. Talking to them yesterday, they're kind of stuck at home a lot too and going stir crazy

dory - yes my Isaac is definitely a ladies man already. Everyone says he's going to be a heartbreaker haha. Hey that's a coincidence about the shower (not about the poo though, yuck) I had a shower with Isaac for the first time yesterday after the pool. He loved it!

I'm off to Adelaide this afternoon, and Sydney in the morning so I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll be back next week. Big cuddles for all the bubs

Buzzie - ditto to the others. If I am ever in Melbourne I would love to meet up.

I have started up my own business - hoping to drum up enough work through it so that I dont need to go back late March (arrrh how will I ever leave her at daycare). Anyway, if you are interested the website it www.mindabbiemarine.com If you guys check it out it might show that I have had traffic!! ha ha

Bec - I am constantly in awe of you.... enjoy your trip

Hmm - I want to ask an embarrassing question .... here's the go - sometimes when I wear pantyliners it detaches it's self from the material of my underwear and instead works its way out of where it should be and attaches to my leg. WT? Does that happen to anyone else? Drives me batty.

Anyway, watershed moment for me yesterday - I was away from HB for 2 1/2 hours ( having my 2 hour GTT and blood tests) and I wasn't too crazy with worry. Got home and DH and HB were on the floor playing, all content. DH said she refused the bottle and refused to sleep, and cried a little "with real tears streaming down her face " but once he picked her up ( how easy is it to woo your dad when you're a cute little girl?) she calmed down and seemed content. TBH - that's fine. She does the same for me somedays. Told DH he did a stirling job and gave myself a pat on the back for coping so well with being separated. Not long now til I will be ready to try going to a movie and leaving Hannah with my Aunt. ( jsut in time for HB to start to have separation anxiety). Today we went to breakkie for my cousins birthday. Hannah was due for a sleep and maybe had a nap in the car but then was up for 3 hours past her usual limit and she was just so content ( she looked tired) but was happy to be the centre of attention. I am simply amazed. Cracked it once we were in the car though :P

Dory - I am always in panty liners and haven't had that issue ( have had them scruch up which is horrible) but maybe try another brand? I was using libra but found homebrand fantastic and like $1 for 20 ( I used to wear them every day till just recently)

I had a night out with DP and friends last night. Had my first alcoholic drink in 4years! Only 1 but was enough!
4days till Tassie!! Aaaaaaahh so cant wait!

Dory - can't say I've had that issue with pantyliners sorry! Incidentally I'm excited I haven't got AF back yet. Got it back about now with DS, so fingers crossed it'll stay away for longer this time! Also re the tingling legs, my sis had that and it was the vit B issue. Meant to commetn earlier & send you good wishes that it's all something minor.

Buzzie - but melb catch-up sounds great to me! I went to a BB catch-up & met some folks last year which was nice... had been too chicken prior to that lol!

Dory & Fuzzy - re super mum comments aaawww shucks you guys are so sweet. Gave me a right little mushy moment reading that it did thank you both for bringing a smile to my face.

We've got DH's vertigo tests this week, fingers crossed to find out it's something super easy to fix. He's improving slowly, it's been 6 weeks now. Annika has been a bit unsettled this week but my mum is visiting thank goodness. Think I was slowly getting further & further behind with so much to do, so it's wonderful having her here I still haven't even managed to get my thank-you cards out .. but I have bookkeeping to do for DH's business first... maybe they'll be for her 1st b'day hahaha.

    Hi ladies,

Bec - Hope you had a great time in Sydney!

Belfie - what sort of business is your DH in? I don't know anything about vertigo but I hope it is something easy to fix (Maybe a magic pill or something??) fingers crossed for you. How nice that your mum is there - mums are so helpful, I sometimes wish mine lived a bit closer. You were feeding X EBM weren't you? Maybe that's why AF came back quicker last time. I keep wondering if/when it will return but the way I am feeding P I don't think it will be back for a while.

Dory - sorry can't help with the panty liner thing. I find that as long as I am busy when away from P (which has been a few times) I don't really miss her. It's when I stop and think about it and have nothing to occupy myslef with that I desperately want to see her.

Fuzzy - I work for SA's marine parks program - what services are you offering and have you approached the WA equivilent for work? I was looking at your site and wondered if you acctually want the on site work (diving etc) or were more interested in stuff you could do from home (analysing results, writing reports etc).

Buzzie - I will be in Melbourne from the 31st jan until the 4th feb staying at my sister's place in Tullamarine. Not sure where that is in relation to where everyone else is but I would be keen for a catch up (I don't knwo my way around Mel but will have access to a car and a map!

Pearl's former sleep routine has totally been chucked out the window since I started getting her down earlier - last night I was up either 4 or 5 times with her between 10 and 5 (I lost track!) she has also stopped having big sleeps in the day and just cat napping! As far as I can tell from the books there is no way to train bubs of this age to sleep longer in the day - I just wish she would give me better night time sleeps - I really feel for those of you who's bubs have always been bad sleepers! Off to Adel tomorrow (8hrs in the car) then flying to Mel without DH next monday - will be good to hit the big cities again.
