I had no idea this thread even existed - i have found a few of you again after 4 years - he he!!
For those of you who remember me from the Sept 07 Belly Buddies, a lot has happened in the mean time... I had another baby (boy) in 2009, and am now expecting my third in a couple of weeks (however, given my obstetric history of making sure that my babies are well and truly over-cooked, it may be a few weeks longer than that...). I have moved from my beloved Melbourne back to my hometown of Perth (which, other than the family and friends here, i have little affection for!!). My DH's mother got very ill very suddenly in Dec 2009, and we packed up house and moved back to Perth by Feb 2010. She passed away in July 2010 so things have been pretty miserable for my DH's family lately (she was only 59, and never had any previous health problems so it was a massive shock). Because of the suddenness of the move, we had to sell our beautiful home (MamaPan, it was in the Gascoigne Estate in Malvern East - you will sympathise with me because it's such a gorgeous area!) at the bottom of the market in Melbourne, and then bought a property in Perth at the top of the market, which has been falling ever since - ha ha!! i have to laugh about it, otherwise i'll cry!! we are building a new house that we can't afford on the property that we bought (taking a bit of a gamble - oops!) and in the meantime have been in rentals. the first one was terrible and totally un-child-friendly, but the one we are in now is rather nice, so that's a positive at least!
My daughter is going to a Montessori School 3 days per week, which she loves, and my son is booked in to start there next Feb (they can go from 2.5yrs). She is very independent, articulate and cunning (which can be exhausting), whereas my son just thinks life is one big party, and has been laid back and easy going since he was born. he is a bit of a joker, and they both get along really well and are great friends... We didn't find out the sex of the baby this time around, and i'm really quite excited about finding out when they finally arrive!
i think that's probably a good enough summary of my life since i spoke to you all last - i will try and check in regularly now to see what you're all up to!!
Hi Ella, wow how lovely that you have popped back in! you probably don't recognise me, but you actually did my birth announcement for ds1 back nearly 4 years ago!

Blast from the past!! I have just been reading back on some of our old Belly/baby buddy threads! Seems that time really alters the memories - what I remember of W's babyhood doesn't match a lot of what actually happened at the time lol.
Hi Ella :) I am about to have #3 as well. How are you going with the pregnancy and two small kids to look after? I fondly look back at the luxury of the first time round when you can sit around waiting for the baby to come - now I get to sit for a couple of minutes before one kid or another is whinging for something!
W woke up crying last night saying his ear hurts. We have never had ear problems, I am not sure what to do. Think I will ring the health line. A was also sick last night with a temp over 40. I got it down with panadol and she seems happy enough today.:

MP: the food was fantastic! i will post a pic of Marta absolutely hammering a drumstick lol! she was like a caveman, just tearing into it!! thank you so much. the girls were really ready for some home-cooked goodness!

OMG Ella!! Hello! :hug: So wonderful to see you pop back in here and fill us in on what's been happening for you. So sorry to hear about your MIL, I can only imagine how hard that must have been for you all. Make sure you let us know when you have bubs too! the 18th is Alister's birthday so that would be kinda cool to have bubs on that date.

G, I can't find it again now. But I did come across another post of yours about running out to buy some 0000 clothing to take to hospital - bet that didn't see much action! We used to go through a thread every few days back then when they had the 8-9 page limit.
I am so exhausted! Yesterday I was with the kids from 6.30am-9.30pm, then between them they managed to wake up 9 times overnight. I am too pregnant for such long hours :( Thankfully DH took them for a walk today and I got a bit of time to sit and read and just be alone.
geez arte, i would be going out of my mind from lack of sleep if i was you!
yes i did run out and buy 0000 and what a total waster that was!!! dh ended up driving from the maternity ward to big w and buying packets of blue 00 wonder suits. luckily a friend of mine had twin boys about a week later so i gave her all the 0000 stuff :)
I almost couldn't move this afternoon I was soooo tired. The effort required to move anything was just too much - then I stumbled into the bedroom to have a nap and realized I had stripped the bed and it wasn't made and burst out in tears lol
Ella!!!! That is so bizarre, I was just thinking about you and thinking I should PM you when I am back from holidays and see if we could meet up - I THOUGHT we were neighbours!!! (and we would be if you were still here!) Its lovely to hear from you. I am so sorry about your MIL, what a shock and what an awful time for you all. Is the move to WA a permanent thing (i guess so since you sold up here and are building there)
Cass - how are you feeling? am glad the food went down well. yep DH mum had rheumatic fever when she was a child.
Well, we have had a full on weekend. Noah had 3 parties to go to and on sat night we had his first sleepover!! (his best friend stayed at our place). the sleepover went really well, they are so gorgeous together. Poor little J was a bit left out, he wanted her to sleep in his room!!!! i cant wait til he can also have friends over. It was hard work but wonderful - cant believe how grown up they are! I also took another friend with us to one of the parties - started to get a feeling of what its like when you are carting kids everyhere all weekend! was meant to go out with a gf last night but was so tired i had to cancel!
I was also running around trying to get things sorted for N's party... cant wait for that, though hope we arent too jetlagged.

This morning I was writing the shopping list and W said he had written one with the spy pen (invisible ink and uv light), so I had a look and he had written Milo! It was spelt Mlio, but he did it all by himself :)
Starting to worry a bit about the party so I planned all the food and bought it today (except the fruit) so I can feel at least a bit organized - wish I knew when this baby was coming so I could plan properly!

Artechim - i'm glad to know that i'm not the only one silly enough to go for a third child in close succession - i have been having some serious Buyer's Remorse about this baby - life just seems so hard already, why am i about to make it even more difficult?!! i keep trying to look at the positives - like fast-forwarding 2 years time and seeing them all sitting around the dinner table and playing games with each other, but it just feels a long way away at the moment!! I had a laugh over your tears about an unmade bed - i cry at the drop of a hat these days, i think my DH must think i have lost my mind!! were your other babies early or late? Sept 11th isn't far away....
that's very clever of W to be writing his own shopping lists! my DD made a "book" the other day - she drew lots of pictures of fairies and princesses, stapled them together and then wrote "pinses and feries" on the front - when we first saw it my DH said "wtf? she's written "penises"!! and i had to interpret that it was "princesses" - he was relieved... anyway, i was pretty impressed - i certainly haven't been teaching her any letters or numbers, so good to see that she must be learning something at school!!
my son (2) was counting cookies into a container last night (that we were bringing over to my SIL's house) and he was counting to them into the container - in SPANISH!! glad my DH wasn't around to hear - it's a poor reflection on my mothering that he can count in spanish before english - he must be watching too much Dora!!
MP - yes, we are in Perth for the long haul now i suspect... we always assumed that we'd return here one day (we're both from large families, and they're all in Perth), but it was one of those things that we kept pushing back for "another few years", so may never have actually happened!! the kids LOVE it here because they have so many cousins their own age (between myself and my DH we have 7 nieces/nephews under 5yrs here), and they've got so many birthday parties and the like to go to... My DD is obsessed with sleepovers - she is always inviting herself to other people's houses - it gets embarrassing!! she has had a few sleepovers with a non-family friend, but other than that we have limited it to cousins so far...
Cass - i read your birth stories the other day - your homebirth sounded SO good! i am going to a private hospital (as i have for the other 2), but have managed to avoid any intervention with the previous bubs, so hopefully i'll be able to do the same again! having said that, sometimes i just think - it would be a whole lot easier if they just put me to sleep and woke me up when the baby was out!!
hope you're feeling better, sounds like you've been having a rotten time of late!!
anyway, i have a friend coming over in 20 mins and haven't brushed my teeth or dressed the kids - better get a wriggle on! have a lovely day ladies!

Ella that would have been funny to see his face when he thought she'd written penis LOL. I don't know if you would remember, but my first 3 were all 20 months apart in age and OMG it was such a full on time. But you get so busy with them the time just flies and before you know it they are big kids! I guess you just live in the moment too and dont' really think about it too much. I know I didn't anyway.
Arte, I hate that type of uncertainty. When I was having A, E's birthday was only a few weeks after and at the time I remember it being so hard to plan shopping for a gift and organising the cake etc because I knew I would have a newborn, but had no idea what type of newborn he'd be LOL. I'm sure it will all go off smoothly for you though. I felt like you last night too about the unmade bed. Only it was L's bed. I'd changed the sheets but forgot to remake it and he tells me last night at 8.30 that it wasn't made when I really needed to be getting stuck into this stupid report that's due today.
MP, I am totally jealous of your trip! I so wish I could go somewhere tropical right now.
Well now things are back to normal for me I have time for an update LOL. So prac was fantastic - I did so much teaching and while I wish it didn't have to end, I'm glad that it did. The last week was horrendous for the kids - I had L get sick with the flu last Sunday so he spent all Monday in bed which meant I had to take a day off (which I have to make up on Friday) and then Tuesday at home. Monday afternoon E came home from school, she slept the entire way home on the bus (1hr), went straight to bed and I didn't see her again till 7.30 Tuesday morning when I told her to stay in bed. So she had 3 days home with the flu including some vomiting just for good measure. I thought Paige might have escaped it, but no, by Wednesday night she was sick so she had Thursday and Friday home with it and she also had vomiting. And then just for ****s and giggles, I woke up feeling like death on Thursday, but knew I only had two days to go, so I took a digesic tablet to kill the headache and went to school. By the end of the day I felt worse so got some super dooper cold and flu tablets, somehow managed to get through friday despite the fever and chills. I don't think I have ever been so glad to see Saturday come around. Oh, and as if I didn't need the extra sick child, Alister came down sick again on Thursday night too. he still isn't quite `100% and not eating much, and the girls aren't back to normal yet either, but well enough to go to school again. And on top of that I had an assignment due today that I didn't get an extension for. Apparently 4 sick kids at once plus yourself doesn't qualify you for an extension with this lecturer! At least the other lecturer was human and gave me a 2wk extension just because I had a prac! But on the plus side I'm feeling loads better despite all the green snot and I got the assignment finished!
So that's it in a nutshell LOL.
Oh, I also finally got my copy of 'go the **** to sleep' from fishpond! I got the hardcover version for only $12!! and it took 4 weeks to get here, but I love it. It makes me laugh every time I read it.

well, today....might be a good day :) i *think* that i am feeling much better! i still have slightly achey joints (lying down in bed is actually really sore lol). my throat is a bit sore but i feel a bit better :dance:
Ella: that is a massive move to make. Hopefully you can settle into a good rythmn once the new bubba arrives. DH wants us to move to Perth, but it just seems so far from my family (his are all in italy, so not much difference lol).
Sherie: that is so cool that the prac went well. and very very cool that you loved it. big big bummer about the kids getting sick :(. that is total crapness about the lecturer not giving the extension. if need be, cry discrimination and write an email to the student rep at admin. been there done that, and it does get stuff turned around, because let's face it, there's got to be a bit of leeway, especially when parenting.
Arte: Last year i celebrated Ls birthday on the 27th of August :lol: didnt plan it, just threw a cake in the oven, iced it and then got DH to run around the neighbourhood gathering the kids lol. i was too pregnant and emotional to do anything more lol.
I am so so sorry about that crazy (non)sleep action in your house. i have no idea what to say or offer :(. it just seems so crazy that these kids dont want to sleep....dont they realise that when they are teenagers they aren't going to be able to sleep as much as they want so they should just take advantage now :rofl: (that said, i was a total shocker with sleep...i really feel for what my mum went through now in retrospect). that said, mum used to just pop me in bed and ignore my games and chatting and singing lol. but apparently it used to silently drive her bonkers as i would be still going strong (with the light off as well!) well after she was asleep lol.
MP: :o man, N has quite the social calendar! that is so cool that he had a sleepover. did he love it?? Leila really wants to do one too. she keeps begging for one! she used to do them a little bit last year with our close friends, but now that they have a special needs baby it is just too hard. we need to find another sleep over family. it seems that all our mates have fussy sleepers, so no hope there for the next couple of years i'm guessing :lol:
AFM: well, as i mentioned i feel that i am slowly getting better. L is struggling emotionally a bit lately as i guess having a sick mumma is not much fun and she has been bored beyond belief. so today i braved it and went to the local playground. i didnt last long before i plonked myself on the disk swing and just lay there hahaha.
her eating has also just stopped. DH is freaking out (as he always does) but i am hoping and confident that she will start again soon. i managed to get a bit of food in her at lunch...watch this space!
