    Hi ladies

Dr Tal hope A's asthma sorts itself out and allows you to get a bit of rest at night

Lady hope your getting some sleep today. I went through the same a few weeks ago I've been reading a book that puts it down to growing pains. Apparently it happens a few times 5weeks 8weeks can't remember the rest.

DDB I'm jealous too can't believe you get 7 hours straight the most I get is about 5 but more often closer to 4. Fingers crossed she keeps it up for you

AFU had first immunisation today I think I was more distressed than G. She seems to be ok and still sticking to her normal routine. My wrist is ok I'm wearing a brace that had a moulded cast in it that stops it from moving. I can now grip things although awkwardly sometimes and hold my baby without fear. I guess I'll see in 4 weeks if it works. Anyway BFing is over off to bed for us

Praise the heavens DS slept fantastic last night! DH did sleep in spare room and I didn't need to wake him once to settle the little man, so he should be feeling refreshed from 8 hours straight sleep and can run around after me tonight.

I've uploaded a couple pics of the boy but am on my phone so can't copy the link into here, they're on my profile.

Terry it is rough watching them get needles. Did she have any reactions or all good? Am glad your wrist is a bit better. Must have been frustrating not picking her up. But take it easy, you want it better quickly

Lady Neon-I'm glad DS had a good night sleep for you.

Terry-I am glad you are able to grip things now.

    Hi everyone else.

AFU-A is better now. She did 9 hours the night before last. She has a lot of awake time now and is very interactive. She freaks me out when she rolls over and with the head control she has, but I will take that as good. Our nephew can barely lift his head a 4months so I am happy. We had a nice outing today and caught up with a friend and her little boys. It was nice to get out and about. It will be nicer when we stop getting rain.

    How is e everyone?
We had a shocking day today. Kayden has reflux, sometimes mild other times it's a screaming the house down affair! Well this morning was one of those 'scream every-time you put the baby down' mornings.
The older kids ended up being 45 min late for school because I had to wear Kayden in the sling all morning while trying to soothe him and get everything ready. I ended up getting dressed wearing the sling (he was just asleep enough for me to put him-in the sling- on the bed while I threw my t shirt on.)
And then between school run, shopping, dropping DH at drs, picking up kids, and driving DH onto the city to go to the dentist, I have been on the go constantly! (I recon ISPs d about 3-4hrz driving today).

I hope tomorrow is less busy.

    Hi Ladies

Chrispe - one day if we're ever in each others state we should definitely get these boys together!

Dr Tal - hope the asthma situation improves

Lady neon - glad you had a good night

So, if you want to hear of our saga, here goes(fb peeps, sorry for repeating myself on here)

Ok, so, had our 6 week check up - all good. Heath had his needles, poor bubba. He I'd his usual screaming show for everyone. People are always asking me the same things in this order - is he due for a feed? Does he need a nappy change? Is he your first? Shouldnt you give him a dummy? My answers in this order - no, he just fed. No I just changed him. No he's my third. No, why? I then tell him he is in pain due to lactose overload. They then ask what it all is, if I'm ok(in that, 'are you going to kill your baby' kind of way). I tell them I'm fine, which I am really. I'm strangely calm when he's in hysterics, I just hate that my little boy is in pain.

I told my dr what I've been doing re block feeding & cutting dairy. I told him I didn't give him the Zantac. I also told him if like a referral to see a paediatrician to which he did he thought it was a good idea! He's a good doctor, lovely. Doesn't get stroppy or offended like some! So while I fed Heath in the treatment room after the needles I called to book our appointment - I was on hold the whole way there & the whole way to do the grocery shopping! For 40 minutes! Finally got through later that afternoon but couldn't get in to see anyone for 4 weeks! The lady gave me another number & said if I can't get an appt with them in the next few days to go to the hospital.

I called the next place & the receptionist was a cow! She wouldn't even talk to me until she had the referral so I called my dr to fax it then called her back 20 mins after. It want there yet sobshevtried to ob me off but I pushed it, she told me if the dr thought it was n regency they'd put us in if there was a cancellation. Out of 10 drs no one could see us for at least 4 weeks! Even after I explained the situation & Heaths age she didn't care! I even turned on the tars & still didn't care! Plan was then to take him to the children's today. I called my friend who was coming to visit to cancel & after telling her why she gave me the number to her pead.

Oh, how lovely these people were! The receptionist booked us in for this afternoon, out of clinic hours! If we were face to face I would've hugged her!

So, we went in this afternoon. She agreed with my lactose diagnosis! She said he was very healthy looking & said I was doing a good job which was nice. She explained its a lot more common in boys as they can be sensitive to the estrogen. Also that they have an immature system & that some babies are more sensitive which Heath is at the higher end. So we have to collect a poo sample & take it straight to the royal children's hospital to get it tested to see what acts we need to take. She also told me to keep off the dairy for now. She was by concerned about our situation & how it was afecting the kids & us & because Heath is a high needs baby(needs lots of touch etc) & so unsettled she recommended we go to a mother & baby unit for a week at the Mitchum hospital to help learn to settle him. She also suggested I give him a formula feed for his 10pm feed(lactose free) so we can get a rest - but I told her I wasn't interested. I told her i breastfed my girls for 2 years each - they didnt touch a bottle, i just didnt want to start now. i have nothing against bottle feeding or dummies for others, theyre just not for me. She told me to try lactaid drops, so ill get those.

The thing is I know I'm fine. I can handle all this, I just want him to feel better. It would be nice having a week at the unit to learn different techniques for this little squirt as he doesn't respond to what we did with the girls. Another thing she said was that he would benefit from sleeping on his tummy but due to SIDS we can't. She did say we could for day keeps if we were near. When she asked how he sleeps at night I told him he was good coz we sleep together tummy to tummy.

So there, our big saga! So we have to wait & see what the test results say to see what action to the & then wait to get called up to go to the mum & Bub unit! She recommended the mitcham one because she said it would suit me better because of my wishes to keep breast feeding & so I can see my girls whenever I like as the other hospitals that have these units are strict & would sick him on formula. She said that from the type of parent I am I'd probs walk out of the other places after 6 hours.

So that is where we are at right now. I must say I feel a bit embarrassed I guess for want of a better word, being a third time mum & having these issues but the dr said its more his personality(being high needs. And she told me not to be silly when I said calling him that made him sound he was retarded. I don't like it!).ni was actually surprised she didn't try to force me to shove a dummy in hs mouth like everyone else.

Ok, we'll that's the end of my rant.

Hope the rest of you are all well!

    xx

Littlelove hope things get better for you and Heath.

AFU: Things are going great. I am completely of the dairy as Amelia was getting really bad wind pain, she has improved heaps since being off dairy, and spicy food and garlic and chocolate and coffee (and everything I like LOL) She is sleeping now has been for about an hour now. I should be sleeping aswell LOL though she will probably wake soon for a feed. I managed to eat dinner tonight without interruption, she had a sleep whilst I had dinner. She is so content. The other day I put her down for a sleep then she woke a bit later as she had a wet nappy I changed her put her back in cot went hung washing came back up stairs and she was asleep. So weird having a bub that doesn't scream when put in cot. Quite often she will wake and just lay there looking around, or I'll put her in cot put on mobile and she will just lay there watching it no screaming. She is now 5085g as of yesterday and 57cm as of last Friday, so growing steadily :-)

Well must go lay down now before little miss wakes

Little love- I'm off milk too, we are trying to see if the reflux (which runs in the family) is because of a lactose intolerance. DHs family all have digestion issues, but so far as I know none have been tested for LI. I hate it when they are in pain too! Don't feel bad about a 'high needs child' I have had several (DS1-bad reflux, DD- super clingy separation anxiety for first 18months+, and now DS3)
Just think of him as super cuddly. Here's hoping you have a good, productive time at the mum and baby unit.

Shadow- love it when babies are settled enough to put themselves to sleep!

Littlelove-*hugs* You don't need to feel embarrassed. I don't think it matters how many kids you have, they are all different and have different needs.

    Shadow-yay for A settling herself.

    Hi everyone else.

AFU-All good here except Amelia has bad nappy rash and has even come up in some blisters It looks like it really hurts so today we are going to enjoy some nappy free time. She was quite unsettled and in pain last night and we tried everything to no avail so DH had a shower with her and that calmed her down immediately. She must be like her mummy in that way. A shower fixes everything.
It's a gorgeous day here today so after her next feed we will be going for a walk in the sunshine so mummy can get some more iron tablets.

Oh Littlelove what a pain for you.

I have Anissa's appointment on Monday (along mwith her four year old brothers pre-school immunisations and health check) She is very screamy today and I know I had more milk (as in I had cows milk on cereal and to drink) yesterday- I wonder if I am stretching it or if she is a lactose sensitive too- how has everyone found the results of cutting out dairy?

Jessiebean I have found with cutting dairy Amelia has waaaaaaaaaaay less wind pain :-D and her farts don't stink so much.......well either it's the fact I'm not having dairy or I have just become used to the smell LOL. Took some getting used to not having dairy but getting there :-) I tried rice milk, oat milk and almond milk so far NOT trying soy EEEUGHHHH plus I heard it not good for you anyhow. Almond milk seems to be my favourite out of them. and for butter/marg I am using that nuttelex stuff. Chocolate affects me aswell which is a pain :-( I bought heap of dairy free chocolate and even made myself a dairy free choc cake and bought dairy free tim tams (ok not called tim tams but exact same thing) but alas the chocolate affected me.
So does anyone know when I should/could try have dairy again? I'm thinking 3 or 4 months try a little, Amelia's little belly may be able to tolerate it by then :-) I know I had salmon for lunch and it had parsley sauce on it last Sunday which when I looked up recipe online has milk in, wasn't much but it affected her, well either that or the salmon did.

I think i need to cut out diary tii. DD2 farts alot and is very windy also.

How long until you see results? As im wondering what else it could be.

I love crinchy nut for brekky so mot sure what i can eat now.

DD2 has bad reflux which seems to be getting worse. Even when i sit her ip for an hr abd lie her down milk always comes back out. I cant seem to feed her sleeping anymore because she projectile vomits all over the bed and me. At times i have to chage her at least twice a night. She doesnt cry when she does it though. She only cries ling after a feed and it seems she has stomach pains then she would spit out curdled milk.

Doc just said to monitor it since shes put om two kilos in one month!!! Shes currently 5.8kg dress weight

    Hi ladies

I've been reading about all the issues to do with diary and lactose intolerance and I read an interesting article on the ABA website about it. There is also something can't remember the name that is similar to this and had similar symptoms but has more to do with the amount of fat they are getting from your milk when breastfeeding and block feeding is recommended. I also read from the same site that cutting out all diary doesn't do much as not that much gets into your milk.

Worth a read if you can find them just search for lactose intolerance on their website

AFI had a great sleep last night two blocks of 5 hours and 4 hours

I think that might be to do with lactose overload? I am pretty aware of that this time around after both boys suffering from it- Anissa has had a touch of it once but I know some others here have been having problems with it. Watch for those nasty green slimy nappies! Hey how do I get a baby ticker? I just can't find it on the site!

    Hi ladies

Terry, that's lactose overload. It's a possible issue with Heath. Since I've been block feeding his poos are mainly mustard & not green.

It takes about 15 days for dairy to get out of your system. I'm on day 10 now. There has been a little improvement in the crying but nothing major(possibly because Heath is very sensitive). His bum rash has pretty much disappeared which is great.

Those thinking your bubs may have lactose overload, speak to your lactation consultant.

We just got our lacteeze drops today & have IDE them with 2 feeds. They are lactase drops that breaks done the lactose in the milk - you have lactase in your intestines to do this but some bulb as haven't developed it.

Shadow 77 - my paediatrician said it usually eases up around 3 - 4 months so can try dairy again. I bought those biscuits too! And dairy free pancake mix. Heaths the same with the chocolate though. I've been reading up & you can replace milk in recipes with other things like apple sauce & other things! Lucky we've been using nuttelex for years - one less thing I had to change! The oat milk is ok. I have rice milk in the fridge to try.

    DDB & Chrispe - thanks.

Jessiebean - you can get the ticker from lilypie - it should come up right away when you google it.

I was telling dh today that I'm just sick of people looking at me with pity on the odd occasion I go out with Heath(I find myself staying home unless I have to because of all the screaming).

I think the block feeding is messing with my supply a bit so I'm slowly shortening the time I use only one boob(I started with 4hrs. Now I'm going 2-3hrs on the one side & expressing a bit more. Hopefully it will pick up in a couple of days.

Ok, I'm off! Hoping we here from the mother & baby unit soon. No doubt we'll end up in there on the week of my daughters 4th birthday or my girls dancing concert.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend

littlelove the rice milk is OK but I found it very watery, not like milk at all in my opinion.
I will try milk again at 4 months :-D

For those of us who are cutting out milk/dairy I'm having dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. The only bad thing is sometimes caffeine can give bubs wind.
I tried soy and rice milk, but found them a bit yuck. That's why I've only switched to lactose free milk.
Another thing that upsets my boy is if I treat myself to HJ onion rings

Has anybody else checked the RISA website? (Reflux Infants Support Association)
I liked their Facebook page and it has been really good.

    Heya

Wow seems like most in our group have babes with some sort of feeding issue, no good. So far I think I might be lucky enough that Js little tum is ok. That being said I did notice his pooh has gone from mustard to a green (but not slimy), this is ok right?

Littlelove hope sleep school helps. Don't feel bad that H is your third and need you need to go, all kids are so different (and this one is from the other side - a boy!! Bahaha).

So who said newborns are supposed to sleep 18 hours a day?! This kid loves being awake. He is pinging until midnight every day from around 7pm then crashes till around 3.30 or 4. He was a rat last night though and woke for a feed at 2.30. Other than that, we're good
