Just an FYI for the rest of you ladies and something to make you laugh.

Made three mumcicles yesterday morning. Of course didn't tell dh this. Why would I (I think you can see where this is going
Got up with A last night for a feed and there's dh stuck into one he asks me what dud you make this out of. I can't place the flavour. You should have seen the look on his face when I said they were mumcicles for the kids. First confusion. Then slow comprehensio, then complete shock

So if any of you other ladies make them, it might be a good idea to let your significant others/older children know. Bahahaha

Shadow - Not yet. Usually DS is after something frozen as soon as he wakes up in the morning, but today he's just not interested, and I think A might still be a bit too young for them.

DDB - so sorry to hear A had a reaction to the adhesives. I'd definitely be refusing a re-test too. As if they really expect you to put her through an allergic reaction again. Some people just have no brain!

So anyhoo has anyone elses little bundles out grown the baby bath? Amelia will fit in but yeah she cant really stretch out as much as she would like. Anyone know where I can get one of them terry towelling support things for bath? I haven't looked yet but thought I'd ask anyhow :-)

Shadow, i saw them at babies R Us ( the one in with Toys R US) once. We've been using the laundry sink, cos it just seems easier than using the baby bath and trying to fill it, then carry it somewhere, etc... but yes, although he isn't mesuring much longer, he seems to be a lot more stretched out in the sink these days.

DDB, I'm not surprised you refused a re-test! have you asked if they have a different type of electrode adhesive? There are several types available for adults, I know, for ECGs and things, so I would imagine they would for babies, too.

Pholi-thank you for the advice. I will ask about another type of adhesive. Dh can only have one sort of micropore tape it's all on Amelia's record now so that's good and hopefully she won't have another reaction.

Hello everyone. Been a bit absent as I normally check in on my phone during feeds, but my phone has been with telstra the last week and a half getting repaired. Have it back now though which is great! Will try and remember what I can, but I doubt it will be much.

Dr Tal - so happy to hear A is looking all OK! Must be such a weight off both your and DH's minds! Too funny about the mumsicles I'm a bad person and want to make some and not tell DF

Shadow - honestly not sure if A fits in the baby bath anymore. She's been having showers with me instead. Much easier than dealing with the bath.

Can't remember anything else sorry. But hi to everyone else and I hope you're doing well.

AFM - quite a bit has been happening. We had DF's 30th last weekend. He decided he wanted kids food so we had cupcakes and Frankfurts and lots of other kids party food. I went out and bought the old vintage women's weekly kids cake cookbook (mum has the original and made all our birthday cakes from that) and made him a racing track cake with tiny teddy cars. It turned out really well, I was so excited! It was a great day though the downside was he had to work that night.

I've managed to strain the tendon in my right thumb which makes doing just about anything difficult. I bought a wrist guard that immobolises my wrist but it still gives my thumb full motion so doesn't help at all. Finally found one that immobolises both my wrist and thumb online so now just waiting for it to arrive and trying to remember to take it easy in the mean time.

A had her 6-8 week check up last week. My GP kept telling me how beautiful she was and said it was amazing how inquisitive she seemed. He said it was likely largely because I keep talking to her (which I did the whole time we were there) and that was great. He also got a few big smiles from her. She's been smiling so much. Most mornings I wake up to a big smile which is adorable. She has been a bit fussy today though which is weird. She feeds for a little then spits out the boob. I offer it again and she takes it but will either spit it out soon after or gag. I figure she must be done but then she start crying (she's just developed a 'hungry' cry which is really cute - almost sounds like she's saying mum with the sound she makes) cause she is hungry quite soon after. I'm wondering if she's being affected by me. I've been feeling quite anxious all day today for a number of reasons.

She's also just started sucking on her hand when she's tired. Occasionally she'll get just her thumb in there. Still resists a dummy most of the time but sucks away on her hand.

Miss Dee, We always had birthday cakes from that book, too! Well done on making complicated birthday cakes when you have a tiny baby to look after! I often get woken up by smiles and coos, too - there's nothing better!

Shadow, we tried the baby bath that we were given by a friend, this morning, for the first time. We'd been just using the laundry sink cos i hadn't gotten round to cleaning the bath. It's a Fisher price Ocean Wonders bath - you might remember I was pretty unsure about it during pregnancy because of the big ridge in the bottom, which means the sling on the top didn't look like it would allow baby to get wet? Well, sure enough, in the sling he has just about an inch of water under his bum and that's it. Without the sling, he can sit reclined (with his bum resting on the ridge) but his whole upper body is out, even with the bath really full, and he doesn't get the floating effect which he just loves when he's in the sink. So whatever you do, don't buy one of these bath and sling combos!

Feeding is going reasonably well now, all things considered (thanks for asking, miss Dee). I'm still feeding from both sides, topping up with formula then expressing, so it's still a pretty big effort. I've been off the lactation cookies for the last 6 days or so, and sure enough, my supply has dropped again. But the cookies are sooooo bad for you, with 250g butter and 1 1/2C sugar. It wouldn't be so bad if I just ate a couple of biscuits a day, like with normal bikkies, but eating 14 a day, and getting through the whole lot in 5 days? Terrible. And I really don't want to be adding fat around my middle, I want it to be coming off!

So this morning I started with lactation muesli - my own recipe, but using the same amount of the active ingredients in the cookies that I would have in one day - and putting it all into one bowl of muesli. I actually made it last night, and soaked it in the fridge in milk and yoghurt - like bircher muesli. It was... ok. The brewer's yeast makes it all bitter, though, and just a bit unpleasant. So I think I might try the oats and the flaxseed in the muesli (plus the yummy fruit and nuts), and just mix the brewer's yeast with a spoonful of yoghurt, which I can then swallow like medicine without having to taste it.

Also, DP and I went to our first New Parent's Group meeting this week. It was a nice group, but way too big - they'd had 12 booked, including us, but 21 turned up! Age range was 3 weeks to 3 months. We were meant to be talking about adjustment to parenting, but by the time we'd all introduced ourselves, we only had 5 minutes left! There were at least 4 others there who are also comp feeding, and although when the paeds and LCs kept telling me that I wan't the only person going through this, I hated it - it didn't make me feel any less alone - to actually meet the women going through it helped a lot! It goes for 5 weeks, at which point the facilitator will talk about how we can keep it going without her.

Amelia has apparently (according to the wii fit board lol) put on 500 grams in 2 weeks and 3 days. She is now 5700 grams :-) We'll see how accurate it is LOL. Got health nurse visit next Friday. Will weigh her with wii fit board before go LOL

Pholi I have heard stout boosts supply, can't say I'd drink stout whilst BFing though LOL, unless you can express enough for few days then go on a bender LOL (well if you drink stout, I personally don't think I would like it)

Lucy is a bit like that sometimes - mostly she feeds well, but sometimes she cries during her feeds and keeps unlatching, though she's clearly hungry. I've found with her it's usually wind - sometimes it takes quite a while patting and rubbing her back before she can get the wind up, but afterward she feeds happily again. If that doesn't work, it generally means she's brewing up a poo and it's making her uncomfortable - and in that case, we just have to wait for nature to take its course!

Hi all! Sounds like everybody is going pretty well, which is good to hear. Dr Tal, your momsicle story cracked me up - my DH would be utterly horrified if he'd done that! I don't know why, I mean, he's a fan of breasts - why would breastmilk be so scary?

I think my little puddin' is going through a growth spurt... she wanted to feed about every hour and a half yesterday, and today she slept nearly the whole morning away. She's almost 6 weeks, so I guess that's about right. I'm still feeling weird about being at home with her... it's odd not to go to work, to be at the shops during the day with the rest of the pram brigade... I guess eventually I will get used to my new 'normal'!

Yes, but they are all basically the same recipe, and they all have masses of butter and sugar in them. I'm trying to create a recipe which gives me the useful bits without all of the added, useless calories!

As for the bender... I quite like stout, but if I could express enough for a few days, I wouldn't need to boost my supply! No, alcohol isn't an option for me, either.

does T have a longer sleep at night?
If so you could have a stout after he is asleep. Or that might be an option later on. Kayden has a 5-6 hr stretch so last week I had a glass of moscato after he went to bed, it had been in the fridge for the last 10 months. (I bought it the week before I got my bfp).

For those asking about my niece, she is doing well. At home now and driving her parents batty as she isn't allowed to walk around. Imagine trying to keep a 2yo from walking, crawling, moving at all!

I helped take her in to hospital to get her cast repositioned as it slipped. The dressing came off the toe by accident and saw the damage. Looks like it's healing well. Luckily she still has the knuckle so when it comes time to walk on it most likely she will be ok.

Well I wont be going to toys r us anytime soon it got burnt down today, was across road from it in another shopping centre. Was on fire when we drove past. Found the terry toweeling supports at target but they only hold up to 6kg and Amelia is already about 5 and a half kg so I got a plastic one that goes upto 8kg
