Spent all night last night, awake with A, who projectile vomited all night.
Took her to the gp this morning. He took one look at her and called the paed and referred us there. Paed saw her straight away. Within five minutes of looking at her he called the hospital, got us a room, told them to get things ready and sent me there. Straight in. Put an iv in, took bloods, took spinal fluid sent it all off. Nearly broke my heart all the needles. I think ill have nightmares for a while from her screams
Shes currently sound asleep with a drip for dehydration. She's had a dose of iv antibiotics. Best case scenario is a urine infection. Worst....well apparently both meningitis and meningococcal are going around.
Needless to say I'm a. It of a mess. please be okay my baby.
So didn't sleep to well last night. Was up everytime she moved. The nurse on duty was fantastic though. When he realised I wasn't sleeping he came in to talk and keep me company and help take my mind off things. He has a daughter ds's age and we talked about all the stuff they get up to.
Her fever made a spike about 2 at 39.5 (so pretty high), when she was scheduled for her next round if antibiotics. It came down pretty quickly once the antibiotics got in her thankfully.
Saw the lead first up this morning. Should have the test results back about 2 to .3 this afternoon. He was happy with her temp, responsiveness and colour though so took her off the drop (iv is still in her arm though).
Just finished getting the dressings on her back changed as she bled quite a bit from the spinal tap and she's now sleeping.

It's so so hard watching your little one go through something like this. Especially when your powerless to do anything to help
Were you sleeping in the nursery with A Tal? It sounds like she is responding to anti-biotics, that's good. Not long now till you know what has knocked her down. Are they letting you breastfeed her? And yes it is oh so hard, sadly I know exactly how you feel. I assume your at the children's hospital - do they send counsellors/social workers around? If so, even though you might feel silly (we did a bit, Jack 'only' had an infection which yep was so scary for us then we saw all the kids with cancer etc and felt like we had nothing to complain about, IYKWIM) but still take up the counsellor's/social worker's offers. The one we spoke to wrote a letter to DH's work explaining what was going on.
Anyway, this talk of sick babies freaked me out last night as J was vomiting (though, no more than usual) but he was really red and slightly warm. So I stood in front of the fan and his temp quickly came down to 36.2 so I relaxed. He's booked for immunisations on Tuesday. He went to sleep at 10 which I started dancing about (usually nods off around 11.30) but nope he woke up at 10.30 and didn't go to sleep again till 12. But he did sleep till 6 so I got a nice block.
What time do you girls put bubs down at night? So far this is J's day (I'd like to have him down for the night earlier - so if you have tips throw them at me, otherwise just remind me he's still little and this is normal )
11.30pm - 3 sometimes 4am sleep
3-4am or 4-5am feed and burp, sometimes another feed
4/5am back down to sleep till DH gets up for work at 7.30/8am, feed, burp, change and feed and burp again
8.30/9am - 10.30am sleep
from here till 11.30pm again, he's awake for around 2 hours at a time, feeding 2-3 hourly (now that it's heating up I've noticed more frequent, shorter feeds) and when he sleeps it's for half an hour max. DH does bath time at around 9pm then I feed him and start the getting to sleep routine.
Anyway's that's all from me hope all you ladies are doing ok.

Gosh Dr Tal. I hope the blood tests come out clear.
I seriously hate to see my babies sick it totally breaks my heart and wish that it was me instead.

Lady neon dd sleeping pattern is usually
9pm sleep to 12 milk
3 am milk and this is when she gets quite unsettled till about 5 am
7 am milk and wake up
Bath and play
Then she goes back for a nap around 9am
LAdy_neon, Thor's daily pattern is a sleep-feed-play pattern, with feeds at (very roughly) about 4.30, 8, 11, 2, 4, 6, and then I sometimes wake him for a dream feed before I go to bed at 10ish. But I would never count on it. Yesterday, for example, he slept from 1 til 6.30, when I woke him for a feed, lest he decide to wake every 3 hours overnight instead. I gave him a dream feed, and he slept til 6am. Some days he skips a sleep in the afternoon/evening, and goes straight from playtime to feed. What you're describing sounds pretty normal to me, but maybe you could encourage him to go back to sleep quicker in the evenings and nights by keeping lights dim, not making eye contact, using low voices or not talking at all, no TV or other 'interesting' things going on, etc. We've been doing this woth Thor, and he hasn't wanted to stay awake after a night feed for weeks now.
AFU, Thor rolled yesterday! I'm so proud of him, but I wouldn't have minded of he took a bit longer to learn to do it! Mind you, he hasn't repeated the trick yet!
Lady Neon. A wakes about 8 for her first feed. We feed, play and then sleep but she will only sleep 20 minutes at a time during the day. She then feeds about 10, 12, 2, 4, 6, 8 and then bed for the night and sleeps the 12 hours. We do a shower before the 6 o clock feed.
Yeah, I've been in the children's ward with A. They're really good at the private here letting you stay. A is also the only one in the ward at the moment, so she's been a bit spoiled. I've also been encouraged to breast feed her. No talk if formula at all, which has been nice.
Her bloods showed that she's anaemic and has an elevated white cell count. So far she's been negative to all the things they've looked for. So we still don't know what she has, which is frustrating, but on the positive side she's gotten the all clear on the two nasties. Negative for meningitis and negative for meningococcal. She's doing really well now though, but the doctor has us in for another night for observation just to make sure.
Lady n. A goes to sleep about 10. Will sleep till about 4. Goes back to sleep straight away but will be up again at 6 for 2-3 hours. Then a feed about 9 will sleep till about noon. Feed again and play awake till about 3. Then another sleep until around 6. Feed and awake u.til I get her down about 10
LN I usually follow Kaydens cues, ie if he looks tired I'll try putting him to sleep. He tends to go to bed for he night around 10ish. Some nights it's been 8pm other nights it's been closer to midnight. Then feeds around 4am, 7am, those are the only consistent feeds he will often feed every 2 hrs or feed for 2hrs around 4-5pm.

Sorry I've not let you know about annabella sooner. She was released from hospital Saturday afternoon after another blood test. Her white cell count was back to normal, she was hydrated and much mire interactive so the paed was happy she was feeling better and sent us home. Unfortunately I got home to a sick DS. He started with diarrhea, then got a fever and spent all last night vomiting. He seems to be on The mend this morning thankfully.
Dr Tal, I'm glad A is ok again, but what a shame your DS is now ill! I really hope the whole family are feeling better soon.
Thor slept through the night - 7pm til 7am, with a dream feed around 10.30pm, 2 nights in a row! What a shame I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep for an hour and a half!!
Dr Tal-glad to hear A is feeling better. How have you all gone since being home.

How is the weather where all of you are?
We had our first scorcher today at about 40 but DH bought an air con last week so it wasn't as bad as in the past. Bub didn't really like the heat though but was happy enough. She slept 13 hours last night so I was in a world of hurt by the time she woke. She has started giggling now and it is the sweetest sound in the world.
