OP – I wouldn’t stalk me too closely at the moment. I don’t post too much in the TTC thread. It just moves too quickly! It’s crazy in there, you’ll get 2-3 pages of posts in one day and at the moment I’m lucky if I can check into belly belly once every two days or so. Then there are like 6 or more pages of posts and I don’t have a hope of catching up on and then I feel bad about just me posting with no personals…..and well….I don’t post too much

Brekkie – B eats just about anything. When DH feeds him brekkie, it’s usually a bit hit or miss as to whether it’s actually breakfast food or not. He’ll usually just grab some cubes out of the freezer and thaw, be they salmon and veggies, avocado or fruit At least he feeds him I’ll usually give him yoghurt or some of my oatmeal.

Owens – I often think about not changing B on the change table, but then there I find myself in the middle of a change, fighing him squirming and wiggling and pulling things out from everywhere….on the change table….AGAIN! You’d think I’d lean!

Wow…sounds like you’ve had one heck of a week. I certainly hope you and all your children are feeling better and you’re able to get a bit of a break! You and your poor little boys

Sal – I’ve already been to see the acupuncturist…last week. Got some herbs for me and DH...he might have mutant sperm, but at least they can ride in style on purified waves (so to speak )

And I am SO WITH YOU on wishing the stork delivered!

So glad to hear that your DH’s check up went well. How long will he have to go for them until he’s pronounced clear? I LOVE aquariums…so jealous…

WOOHOO about the weight and cm loss! Can’t WAIT to see the photos!

Work…well this is my third week in a row I’ve been…B seems to be over his getting sick all the time (knock on wood)…down side to that is I actually have to go to work and consequently spend 3 days away from my baby

Emma – That’s so cute that T waves. I try to get B to wave…clap…anything really (well he does splash…but that’s about it)…to no avail. I think he’s too busy to even try…oh well. I really do think a lot of his not doing things (sitting, waving, trying to talk) is him just too busy to watch/listen/take the time to even try.

B loves the vacuum cleaner too. He plays on/around it all the time, and LOVES to be held while I am vacuuming.

AFU – B almost has a tooth. I say almost as I can’t really see it yet, but I can feel it (it’s really sharp) when he chews on my toe. I put my finger in there on Friday after it really hurt when he bit my big toe (more so then usual) and I could feel it.

He’s also been walking with only one hand held since Saturday. He didn’t think he could but I tricked him by putting a toy in one hand (because I was convinced he was physically able to but didn’t think he was ITMS) and he was busy shaking and looking at that and I started to walk with him and he walked along. It finally dawned on him that he was only holding one of my hands, got really excited, started bouncing and fell over Then Sunday I did something similar and tricked him into standing on his own without any support. Same sort of thing. Put a toy in one hand, then gave him is favourite toy to grab in the other. Stood there for about 20 seconds before he realised I wasn’t holding him. Then promptly fell over and started to cry

Now question time. B stopped biting my nipple…thankfully now that he’s mostly got a tooth…but has started pinching me…and I mean HARD. I’ve got bruises all over my left arm. Has anyone else had their current…or past baby do this? If you did what did you do to get them to stop. It really hurts.

AND B’s sleep is getting worse. I’m wondering it it’s because of the tooth, but I really don’t think it is. And I’m probably partly to blame. As in the middle of the night he’ll wake up, cry…not want to go back into his cot, so I’m super tired (generally needing to work the next day) wanting to get some sleep, class it in the too hard basket and bring him into bed with us where he promptly goes to sleep but wiggles and moves and jerks and starts and keeps me awake, but I’m getting more sleep then I would if he was in the cot. So now he knows if he cries and makes a fuss he’ll get to come into bed with us…but I just keep getting more and more tired and consequently am ‘giving up’ easier and easier…so it’s a bit of an endless cycle really. I know I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and keep putting him back in his cot one night despite the constant wake ups. I tell myself I’m going to do it nearly every night…then it’s 3 in the morning and I’ve just gotten up for the however manyith time and next thing I know he’s laying in bed next to me…sound asleep.

Dr Tal - cant help you with the pinching because E claws at my face etc, other than a firm no - which E giggles at - or putting them down, turning your back or walking away I dont know what else to do.
In regards to sleep, E is waking between 1 - 3am then again about 5-6am, for the first wake up he cant be difficult to settle sometimes, lately I have been shutting his door and leaving turning the monitor down so I can go back to sleep, this only works if he is still kind of sleepy.
If your getting more sleep by putting B into the bed then do it, you will get used to his fidgeting, our DD gets into bed with us at some stage most nights which suits me fine as she goes staight back to sleep, if I made her stay in her own bed it would take an hour or more to resettle, she has been coming to our bed for yonks, she even has her own pillow full time in there, which she shares with the cat lol. When E has his second wake up I usually put him in our bed too, as DH is usually up walking or off to work so me DD and E all snuggle up and go back to sleep. People will tell you not to do it, its a bad habit etc but if it doesnt bother you, then its not a problem, thats just my opinion. They grow too fast and quite frankly I love cuddling up to my babies and I dont care what anyone thinks. And by the way I am not a so called Co-sleeper lol its just what works in our house.

Sounds like vacuum cleaners are a hit all round! I can't help but wonder how much of the stuff I've read applies to the average baby...

Dr Tal - I know EXACTLY how you're feeling with B waking up all the time and ending up in your bed because you're too tired to do anything else. That's how it's been for us for months. T's super squirmy in the early morning, from about 4am onwards, so I'm constantly waking up. Though this morning he was good, and it was my dad dropping a handful of coins on the wood floor that woke me up just before 6am! Typical!

Nice work tricking B into standing on his own and walking with only one hand held! Sounds like he'll be off and running in no time.

Thankfully we haven't had a problem with pinching yet, sorry I have no advice for you!

AFM - sadly BB doesn't make avatars for you anymore, so I'm trying to find a website that will let me make one out of a photo. I haven't come across anything quite right yet. Does anyone know of anything like that?

Sal – It’s nice to know I’m not the only mum with a baby who beats up on her I have bruises all over my arm/breast/chest/neck! I always firmly tell him “no pinching” I’ll repeat it 3 or 4 times then if he keeps doing it I’ll put him down. But he seems to always do it as soon as I pick him up again. Sometimes I wonder if he even knows/realises he’s doing it? Maybe it’s some sort of baby reflex??

As for B in our bed. I don’t mind it at all, but I think DH does. He mentions it every once in a while, but I often wonder if that’s more because of what he hears people say more so then what he actually thinks/feels himself ITMS?

Emma – Always seems to be something keeping us awake doesn’t it? Like you B actually slept really well last night. And like you I got woken up by something else It was really windy last night and we’ve not got our awning out the side fixed yet from the cyclone and it was banging and clashing all night keeping me awake

As for your avatar, I know there are a few people on here who make them…maybe ask around/put a post up in the platinum member section and see if anyone will make one for you? Or you can ask one of the moderators who have a photo of themselves how/where they got theirs? Just a couple of ideas.

AFU – After my post last night about how B can’t be bothered to wave/clap/try to talk he went and waved and said what I am positive was bye bye all night! Doesn’t say mum or anything remotely like it…doesn’t say dada or anything remotely like that…but he goes and says bye! Guess I know how much I’m loved I was leading him around the house with his little walker (we have a dog lead tied to the front so we can steer him around stuff as he doesn’t steer himself, runs into things, gets stuck then chucks a tantrum) and he started waving bye bye at everything. Bye bye to the fish tanks. Bye bye to the dogs, bye bye to the table, bye bye to daddy. It was SO CUTE. He’d stop pushing his toy, turn around to look at something, raise up one hand his fist would mostly be clasped shut, but he’d move the fingers just a little bit and wave his arm and say ba ba

Okay, I'm a total hijacking stalker, but I have a couple of answers/suggestions, so I hope y'all don't kick me out

Emma - you can request an av in this thread, and one of us will make it for you, or you can send through a photo and we'll resize it for you

Dr. Tal - have you tried holding the hand that's pinching you? My nephew did the same thing to my sister, so she gave him her finger to squeeze instead, and it worked for her thankfully

    Hi all,

Quick post! A got her first tooth, yay!! And last night, she only woke once, here's hoping it was teething that was waking her ALL the time and now we go back to normal . I hope every tooth isn't like that one though :/

As for vacuums, A pushes ours around like a walker while im vacuuming. Very cute, but she keeps taking it away from me.

And lastly, she has been standing on her own today. So excited - had to share

Hope everyone's having a great week!

Wow Owens, A is a clever little thing!

Dr T, Keike, thanks for the tips on getting an avatar. I have just opened the link Keike provided. Woohoo! So nice of people on here to take the time to do these things for perfect strangers.

Dr Tal - B's waving antics sound so cute indeed! What walker thing have you got him? I want to get something for T. Have I mentioned I still haven't stepped foot in one of those baby shops? I really must get around to it. I'm sure there must be more interesting toys out there than the ones they stock at kmart and target.

AFU - T's got a couple of new things going on. One is a facial expression - he screws up his face, sometimes when he's smiling which is really adorable, and some times when he's not - like when he sees something interesting or I go to feed him something. Another new trick is getting off the bed and couch safely by himself. I've been trying to teach him to turn around and go down the stairs backwards in a similar way to how they teach them to slide into the pool safely at swimming. He hasn't managed it on the stairs yet but he did it half a dozen times between the couch and bed today. I have to force myself to hang back because it looks like he's going to crawl off, but eventually he puts his belly down and turns around so his legs are hanging over the bed then he slides off slowly. The last new trick he showed me today was getting into the (empty) bath tub. We were in the bathroom and he saw one of his bath toys. A couple of weeks ago when he reached in to try and get a toy he just fell in head first (I caught him half way), but today he held on to the side of the tub and lifted his leg over, then followed with the other one and got in safely. Our tub is pretty shallow, but I'm still impressed!

Sorry about the rant, lol. Proud mummy here!

Emma - Wow T is such a clever little thing isn't he?? I'd never even thought about trying to get B to get off the bed the same way he gets into the pool but I'm going to go and try him out with it as soon as I get off here. What a fantastic idea!

IT is pretty cute watching B wave to everything. I've tried to get video of it, but he never waves when I have my camera on. He's too busy trying to pose for it

Ownes - WOOHOO on the first tooth. B finally got his first one was well. I was beginning to think there for a while he was going to be a gummy worm forever I started being able to feel it last Friday but it finally came through properly, so I could see it, not just feel it, on Saturday.

Keiki - Hijack away! Thanks heaps for the tip. I held his hand for a little bit and now I've found a soft toy that he likes to squeeze and give him that. You''d think I'd have thought about giving him something to hold onto before...but nope! Sometimes I wonder where my brain is.

AFU - B's finally learned now to navigate his little walker thing by himself....thankfully, so he doesn't scream and chuck a tanty every time he runs into a wall anymore. He now gets in front of it, or to the side and pushes it until it's facing the way he wants to go then crawls around to the back and away he goes again. He's also been standing on his own heaps now, but only when he gets distracted by something he's playing with and grabs it with both hands to examine it, then he'll stand there all on his own (he was standing on his own for nearly a minute the other day) until he realises he's not holding on, then he panics and falls on his butt....still. He's also started to play peek-a-boo. IT's so adorable. He''ll squat down behind our coffee table then pull himself up until his eyes are over the top, then squat back down again and pop all the way up and just squeal, and when you say Boo he just giggles and giggles. He'll peek from behind the table for upwards of 15 minutes sometimes. And yesterday he played peek-a-boo with my mum on skype from behind the curtains. He was playing with them then realised he could pull them in front of himself so he did and started peeking out for my mum. She got an absolute kick out of it. He would pull it all the way back sometimes and just squeal and giggle or sometimes he'd pull it back so only just one eye could see her. And at the end he started saying what really did sound like boo, but not quite...IYKWIM

And ther eyou have it, my proud mumma post to go along with Emma's proud mumma post

Emma - Oops...nearly forgot. B's walker is a Vtech First Steps Baby Walker. IT has an activity centre thingy on the front too so he can push buttons and it has two settings music or learning. He LOVES it. It's one he actually has to pull himself up on and then push, not one of the ones that you put the baby in and it supports their weight. I don''t know if this is true or not, but I've heard the ones that you sit the baby in can delay their motor skills development and can have a negative impact on their muscle formation.

    Hi all,

On the computer so time for a proper catch up!

How are we all going with our little 9ish-monthers??? I'm loving this age, even though it comes with its own challenges!

Dr T - sounds like B is a real little smarty with his walker! And standing on his own, very exciting! Fantastic! I love the proud mummy moments!

EJ - very exciting for you too with T! He sounds like a clever cookie too - getting into the bath? Way to go. Both sets of grandparents have stairs at their houses so we are getting lots of practice with the going down backwards too. X hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet either...

But it is so funny when they finally do get the hang of it, my niece, nephew and DD have all done the same thing - crawl towards the stairs, supervising adult says "backwards down the stairs!" and they will turn and back their way towards the stairs... but they turn and start going backwards about a metre out from the top of the stairs It is very cute!

Owens - X loves the vacuum too! Very cute. Yay for A's first tooth! X only has one too...

Well I had two asleep when I started this and now they are both awake so I'll have to be quick...

We are still struggling with sleep. I've booked in for a two night residential sleep school to try and get some help. I'm just so tired at night time that I don't have the energy to try anything new so we're stuck in the same bad patterns and routines. I'm hoping the sleep school will give me the kick I need to get onto a good pattern.

Fingers crossed anyway. We're not going til 23 May.

    Hugs to all...

Just dropping in quickly to say hi. We have been sick the last couple of weeks. First it was Travis, he was waking up all night as usual but not going back to sleep as easily. Then I got sick and I'm still congested. It's been 11 days since we've had a snot free house!!! Anyway, gotta go make the bed... hope everyone else is doing okay.

EJ - I hope you get better soon, the weather here is making everyone ill atm too. 3 of my 4 have coughs and poor A has the worst runny nose, DH is calling her the SNOT MONSTER

OP - Good luck with the sleep school, sounds like a great idea. Let us know how it goes.

AFU - proud mumma post....Annabelle has started taking steps! She took a couple yesterday and this morning, but they looked more like her feet automatically moved as she was falling then today, we were in her room playing and she stood up and took 3 solid steps and was still standing. I was cheering like a fool Then a friend dropped something off this avo and she did it again.

I hope everyone has a very HAPPY EASTER!!!!

Wow Owens - go Annabelle! How exciting.

Getting the hurry up from DH but was just wondering if anyone got a private message about their image in their avatar/signature? Am wondering if it's some kind of spam. Don't have time to research it now!

First things first – HAPPY BELATED EASTER TO YOU ALL!! What did everyone do for/with their little ones for their first Easters? I got B about ½ a dozen little chocolate eggs. He’s only had two so far. I just thought he was too little to get heaps of chocolate for, but I did want him to have a little tiny bit. He ‘real’ gifts were noise makers He loves things that he can shake to make noise, or hit and bang, he LOVES pulling pots and pans out of ‘his’ pan drawer, and he’s got a couple fish that rattle that he loves. So I got him, little egg maracas. They’re really cool, same size/shape as an egg and they make almost a metalliccy sounding rattle. I got him three a metallic green, gold and silver. Then I got him a jingle stick, which is basically just a stick with a whole bunch of bells on it and a frog castanet that he can click and clack with. The eggs were by far the winners, he nearly always has at least one in his hand and he can often be found crawling around one in each hand

OP – I’m LOVING B. He’s always learning/doing something new. I hate leaving him at daycare cause I’m always worried I am going to miss seeing him do something new.

Sorry to hear you are still struggling with X and his sleep. I hope you were able to get a bit over the long weekend, maybe your DH was able to give you a bit of a break? You’ll have to let me know how you go at the sleep school and what they give you for advice/tips. I could use them. B still isn’t sleeping either, he’s waking up nearly every hour now…very tiring….I had one friend suggest to me that maybe he’s swapped his day and night-time habits because of being at day-care through the day and not having that access to me/breast milk. Sounds feasible, especially since it all started when he want to day-care…not that it helps me with knowing how to fix it though

Emma – So sorry to hear both you and T have been sick. I hope you are both starting to feel better now. I know how tiring it is having a sick littlie, and it’s that much worse when you’re sick yourself. Poor T was probably waking up because he was having a hard time breathing because of the snot. Is he still snotty? Something that might help that my doctor told me to do with B when he is snotty is to get a 1ml syringe and squirt ½ ml or so of saline up his nose. He’ll probably hate it, but it breaks the snot up and allows them to breath a bit easier.

I just checked and no I didn’t get a private message about my avatar….maybe send a message to one of the moderators and ask about it if you’re concerned that it’s spam.

Owens – WOW A a walker already??!! I bet it seems odd to see her walking on her own being so small, I know it seems strange to see B standing. B stands up all the time on his own now, but he refuses to take a step. He can stand unaided for AGES (I timed him for close to 10 minutes the other day) but he refuses to try to take steps on his own…ah well.

AFU – We took B to the beach for the first time yesterday. He had an absolute blast. He was nearly killing himself laughing every time the waves would wash up and touch his feet. Then he’d walk down a bit more and a wave would come and knock him over, which of course was the funniest thing in the world to him.

He’s standing on his own for ages now. He even got up off the ground unaided (as in didn’t pull himself up on anything) to stand the other day. I wouldn’t have believed it if I’d not seen it myself! AND he now has his SECOND word, which incidentally is STILL not mama or dada or anything that could be mistaken for mama or dada. So his first word was ba-ba…bye (geez don’t we feel loved, see ya mum, see ya dad). And his second word…..Ta-na. My big blind boy is called Tano for short. He LOVES him, much to Tano’s dismay who really would rather have nothing to do with B at all. B chases him around everywhere, crawls over him, pats his head, rather gently as far as a 9 month old pet goes really. And he’s constantly being told, don’t torment Tano. Tano is old, you have to be gentle, Tano can’t see you make sure you let him know you’re coming (I know he probably can’t understand it all at the moment, but might as well start now). So yesterday he was playing in his room and saw my big boy laying in the kitchen. He points and starts Ta ta ta, and I told Tano to watch out, B’s coming (I always like to give him warning so he can get away if he wants to) and B looked at me then back at Tano and said Ta-na, and he was off crawling to Tano all the while giggling and squealing Ta-na. I don’t know if I should be worried/upset or not that he’s said our dogs name before mum or dad

Me too, that is so cute Dr T

X's has a second word too... "Anda", which is what DD calls him. Pretty cute if you ask me!

He's also started taking steps and has cut two more teeth over Easter. No wonder he doesn't sleep!!!

    How's everyone else going?

Emma - re the ticker, the ticker guidelines have changed recently so that's probably what the email is about. It won't be spam.

Woohoo, my avi is up! I love it!!! Thanks to my RAK'er and RainbowBrite for creating it!

OP - thanks for the update on X! Sounds like he's cruising along nicely! Literally! How many teeth is that now? About that ticker message, I tried clicking the links in it to the policies and they didn't work. That's what made me think it was spam. Suppose I should look into it...

Dr T - thanks for the saline suggestion. Next time he has the runny nose I'll give it a go. How funny that B has started saying the dog's name before mum or dad! What a cutie. T just tries to imitate kitty's meow when he sees her. Poor kitty. He loves her so much, and just like B and your dogs he pulls her fur, ears and tail and smothers her with love. But of course he's a few kilos heavier than she is and I am constantly pulling him off her to stop him from squashing her! I hate to stop him from touching her altogether, it's so cute when he gives her a pain-free cuddle and buries his face in her fur. Just that the nice interactions are much rarer than the annoying baby (from kitty's point of view) ones!

Nice work B getting up to stand without pulling himself up!

AFU - not much to report. T has been going stir crazy the last couple of days. Even a trip to ikea to crawl through the tunnels between rooms in the kid's section didn't satisfy him. I wish I had a giant obstacle course for him to climb and crawl over. Sleep still no good which doesn't help, I suspect he's been over tired the last couple of afternoons because he's had his first nap too late and can't get in a second.

On that note, I'm off to bed in case there are hourly wake ups tonight like the last 2 nights.
