Hi all,

I feel like I actually have time and energy for persies today but i haven't read back far so there is only a few.

BG- Jemima has been doing the samething with the feeding frenzy stuff and the good thing is that she seems to be doing it at night and mid morning and then sleeping for long stretches at night cos she is so full. Last night she slept from 11.30 till 6am... couldn't believe it! She had a 4.5 hr sleep the night before. Not that i am counting on it to continue but god it was nice to have a long sleep!

Cathy- Jemima hates her baths too. Her dad has been giving them to her and she really hates it. Partly cos she hates being on her back it think. But apparently when they r newborn they don't need terribly freq baths so we r giving her every 2nd/3rd day.

Krystie- I hsve heard the same thing about the hug-a-bubs/slings stopping people from asking for a hug to and think it is a good idea. Leaves it up to mums and dad's to offer rather than people asking.... We haven't taken Jem out in public yet but figure when we do I will be a little possesive and not want a lot of people touching her. On the Vacination front.... it's an issue close to my heart as i have nursed babies who have been sick from deadly preventable diseases so I will try not to lecture. The thing to remember about when you are weighing up the risk vs benifit ratio, is that the risk of immunisations now sometimes outweighs benefit for your specific baby, only because the rest of society has already taken that risk.... by that i mean to refer to herd immunity. if you immunise a herd of cows against a disease then when a new baby is born into that herd the risk that the baby will get sick is very low because all of the other animals took the risk first and got immunised. If lots of people stop doing that then preventable diseases rise and little tiny babies who would otherwise be pretected get exposed to risks even before their parents can choose to vacinate. In the years before polo and whooping cough mumps and measles were protected against they were major threats to babies lives. ok so sorry about that, i hate seeing tiny babies with whooping cough and their have been outbreaks on the east coast lately and it is enough to break your heart. Having said all of that if you research carefully you will make an informed decision for your bubby and should be respected for doing the work to make informed decisions for your baby. That is just my side of the issue and there would have to be alot of sides.

Snacks- I like that you are gonna give some family pics to your pop! We r planing to do a bunch of professional pics for my MIL and frame them to say thankyou for all the help and support she has given us. It's like having a live in maid here at the moment. I have to stop her from fussing over me but she has been invaluble.

Catherine- I was asking my MW about the whole foods thing with BF and we talked about how different cultures around the world have really diff diets. So what upsets one baby may not upset any other. She said to just keep an eye on what you eat and if baby is really unsettled one day remember what you ate the day b4 and then work back. I wonder about the sugar thing tho....... we want our bubs to get used to foods which arn't highly processed or sweet and it makes me wonder if i shouldn't apply that to myself now seeing as what goes in to me goes into her... hmm food for thought

AFM-Well we r starting to get ourselves settled in here now. The pain is really reducing and I am much more mobile. Jemima has been feeding really well and my milk came in yest. She is needing alot less time to feed even now, and as i said earlier she slept thru last night. We have been co-sleeping just cos i can't get in and out of bed easily and her dad is back to work now and needs his sleep. we r getting the hang of feeding laying down. in fact i reckon we rock at this whole BF thing, it is the only thing we have been practicing so it is little wonder. As my MW said, seeing as she stayed in that much longer, she had time to read the book!

Can anyone tell me how to stop my preg counter and start a baby counter? tried looking and can't find it.

Bella

ps oh my god thats a long post!
