We had first round of vaccinations yesterday. I was freaking out. Not just about the pain of the jabs but also about after-effects. DH ended up taking Ivy in and he said that she was a little trooper. Had a brief yell when the needles went in but settled with some Dad-cuddles immediately. Last night she was really unsettled and unhappy for a few hours and then when she finally went down, slept for 6 1/2 hours (a first). I was so worried about her when I woke up and realised how long it had been but checked her and she was a happy sleepy little cherub. Owwwwwwch full boobs though!!
Off to our 6-week check now (at 8 weeks!). Have a good day girls.
Glad the jabs were ok for Ivy, Kat. Hope the 6 week check goes well today.
Actually, it wasn't such a bad night last night. I only popped in while she was settling after the feed. She did two 4-hour stints. I was pretty darn happy with that.
Kat - those looong stints are scary at first aren't they? and soooo ouchy on the boobs! we had a ripper night last night - E slept from half 3 yest arvo til half 6 or after, so i figured i was in for a crappy night. she cat napped off and on til we went to bed to feed at around 9 (i find it soooo much easier to feed in bed - i'm a busty wench though...) slept til half 3 when she started to stir, so i fed her while she was half asleep. she woke while i changed her nappy, fed again and back asleep and in bed by 5, slept til half 8 and back asleep within an hour so mummy could shower and have brekki. about to go chase her up now so that i can bath her - she's still sleeping!
as to the nappy cream - it IS a lucas one - but can't remember if it's the red one or black one that is MCN friendly. i'd have to ask the cloth girls cos i dont have any myself yet
We have had a few good days and nights. Logan is now going 3-4 hrs between feeds. He settled really well last night after his 1am feed, which normally he doesnt settle until 2am. He has improved heaps since we changed his formula, and seems to be much happier.
Krystie- What a great surprise ur sister turning up! And its good that she has bonded with Kyson.
Cathy- Awww how cute that Cara has started smiling! Gotta love the gummy smile.
Niadla- No poopy nappies here each nappy change. The last time Logan did one was not last night, but the night before. Im so not looking forward to a poosplosion.
Not sure if I posted after the MCHN the other day or not. Logan now weighs 4.100kg, so he's putting on just over 200g per week. His head circumference has gone up 2cm.
Did the hospital u gave birth at, measure bubs' height? They dont do it at the hospital I had Logan at, and thought it seemed a bit weird.
I brought an Angelcare monitor last night with the sensor pads. We got the one that shows the room temperature and stuff. I also got DH his thankyou pressie for being a great support during labour and birth. I got him a motorbike model of his dream bike, so now all he has to do is build it. He's pretty rapt with it.
Well I might go have a shower while Logan is asleep.

Wow, Logan is doing fabulously, Bridg! So pleased that the new milk is agreeing with him.
Can I ask a possible TMI question? I think I'm going to visit my Dr anyway, so it doesn't matter if people don't want to talk about it. For those who had a VB, what did you feel like down there at around 3 weeks? I honestly can't remember what it was like after Natty, but this time I sometimes get a sensation that something's in there... I'm a bit worried about a prolapse or something, though this isn't painful or anything - just a weird sensation after I go for a walk. I'm worried because even though I was geared up to birth upright, I ended up semi-reclined again. Pushing uphill.
Sorry if that's sharing a bit too much, LOL! Am curious to know if anyone has experienced something similar?
Just a quick response for Amy... I know it sounds strange, but at about 3 weeks I still felt like my vagina was trying to fall off. That's the best way I can describe it think it all resolved at about 4 weeks though
Just got back from the GP - took Bailey as I thought he had an ear infection as has been crying/screaming in pain and was grabbing at his ears (heaps more than normal, he does this when he is hungry), anyway its a viral chest infection - Bronchiolitis, common in babies. He has a red throat and is phlemy (would explain the waking up choking episode the other night). Poor little man, he is sleeping now. Not much to do but ride it out, got some Fess spray to help keep his little nose clear
Dad's home crook too, so am looking after two sick boys today
Right - I am off to vacumn, my floors are a disgrace, no time for persies sorry
Oh one more thing - I just got my electricity bill - its $200 more than the same time last year - far out - all the extra heating and use of clothes dryer with the extra washing is sure adding up - Oooopps, oh well, I'd rather Bailey be comfortable!

Naomi, I think I've stopped bleeding already, but it was coming and going for the last week or so, so I'm not holding my breath.
Bronchiolitis - poor little Bailey! I hope he and your DH are feeling better soon and that you don't catch any lurgies.
I've caught me a cold - got a snotty nose and it has begun to move to my chest. I suppose it is to be expected though when you get hardly any sleep, LOL! Now that Phoebe is finally asleep I might try a power nap for 20 minutes before Natty wakes up...
Snacks- 'Down there' feels like its back to normal with me. Sorry I cant be much help. Ive stopped bleeding too. If u put ur finger up there, does anything feel different? I also gave birth in the semi reclined position too. I wanted to be upright, but thats the joys of a hospital birth.
Cathy- That's great about Cara smiling for you!! Jemima is doing it too, at first I thought it just had to be wind cos she began doing it at 5days old, but she has kept it up and more often, which is really cute it just melts my heart!! I asked the MW who says it's normal cos she was so late... she's as advanced as some 6wk olds. although that does make me feel like I missed out on a whole stage in her developent...
BG-sorry to hear that you have been having bad nights, although it does sound like last night was better 4 u, which is great!
KL- how cool the suprise of your sister coming home! and on your doorstep! I love suprises! Very nice!

Kat- Sorry to hear your hubby suffering from sleep deprivation!! My hubby is struggling to cope with it. Mine is too! He didn't have the constant waking thru the pregnancy that I did which helped me cope now so he's really feeling it!
Thanks by the way for the lovely supportive comments from Kat, Vic and Raindrops and everyone else. I feel much better not feeling alone in that experience. I had a talk with my sister today and we cleared some of the air. She found it hard to cope with my birth experience just because it brought back so many memories of how she felt with her first... I think it has been hard for her not to prevent that happening to me... but it has been a learning curve for me. I learnt how I do and don't cope with pain. I also learn't that my DH doesn't cope with watching me not cope with pain. I hope to try for a VBAC with my next and hope the lessons we have learn't from this can help me to achieve that... we'll see.
Bridg - yes, it feels very different! But it is the whole thing that feels different... like the walls of my vag are still quite swollen. It feels as though it is at more of an angle IYKWIM? And I'm not sure if I'm feeling something up there or not. I never really did any pereneal massage and I could never find my cervix, so I'm basing my assessment on what it used to feel like when I inserted a tampon or the EPO capsules. Probably I will go to the Drs next week. I am not far off the 6 week check, but I think I might have a roid, so I need to see her anyway. *Sigh* Fantastic. Another appt where I have to ask someone to fuss around my nethers.
Bella - So glad you were able to talk about things with your sis again. I was wondering after you posted about it whether she had her own issues that she hadn't fully dealt with. Birth is certainly a learning curve for everyone! And I am told (and I agree) that each time is different and so presents the opportunity to learn something new. I found that DH really stepped up for Phoebe's birth. It has really enhanced our relationship, and that's something I really wasn't expecting, LOL!
Gee, Phoebe was good to me last night. She slept through Natty's bathtime and kicked happily on the mat on the floor while I put Natty to bed. This was just fab because DH wasn't home. Tonight she is far more unsettled. Every time I put her down she cries.

to those who have had a c/s - how long post birth did your bleeding stop. mine stopped after about a week, started again a few days later (heavier) then i passed the clot, it stopped again - but has been kinda stop start since then. it's driving me batty!
E is finally asleep - shes been snacking and napping all day - no idea if she will stay asleep but i'm hoping it's long enough for me to eat!
