Kat - I think if this is worrying you the best thing to do is to get Ivy checked out by a paedeatrician, to put your own worries at ease, and it would probably be comforting to speak to a health care professional about it - its also about you feeling ok with the situation as well as Ivy's well being. Having said that I dont know if anything is wrong with her developement, and I think your thoughts on delays due to early birth are probably spot on - Bailey smiles at all kinds off odd things - the wall, ceiling, car seat hehehehe, so they certainly are un-fussy about what they smile at or look at. Is it at certain times that she looks away? Perhaps tired/fussy times? I can understand your worry - Bailey is definately behind with some of his motor skills but then when I remember he was almost a month early I rationalise that he will take more time, especially given that his first few weeks were a write off - with him being in the special care nursery and then re-admission to hospital so I really do understand. Ivy would have all these same stumbling blocks and more - so its probably just a matter of time....
Don't let others dismiss your worries (as they dont go away), I think mothers intuition is amazing so trust your instincts and get her checked out - when your paed gives your the OK and reassures you she is 100% normal (which I am sure she is) it will give you such peace of mind. Do you have a supportive/understanding paed perhaps from when Ivy was born?
