shiny new thread getting ready for jamies 2nd christmas and jazzys first we get to see santa on tuesday

Vic - jade still isn't walking I went to the MCHN she didn't seem too concerned I got her to put me' on the waiting list to see the physio which is 6 month wait, I figured I might aswell cause then if she is walking fine by then when they ring to give me' an appt I can just say no thanks, she will walk 1-2 steps between things, and will sometimes stand a few seconds but mainly cruising furniture and pushing round her dolly stroller.
She has been very tantrum-y this week I think cause she spent last week with XP and he would have carried her around all week.
Apart from that we are all good, I just made my final payment on a 10k loan I've had for a few yrs so am now debt free and can start saving for a holiday! Hope you are all well and prepared for the festive season x

another sparkly new thread for us to chatter away in
sorry i've been so quiet lately. my spare time is spent unpacking/rearranging/setting up for Christmas, as well as dealing with E being unsettled. this last eye tooth is giving her so much grief!! earlier tonight she was feeding, pulled off and said "hurts here mummy" and pointed to the tooth. she has crashed from pure exhaustion, with no dinner in her tummy - we could be in for a long night!

we've been given the green light by the RE to put in a vegie patch (provided we maintain it - well duh!). this morning we spent a few hours cleaning up the area we're putting it in, and then building the "fence" for it. we took some leftover fencing materials from the old house and realised the easiest way to create a strong wall to hold the soil of the garden was to build a short fence - so E was on pencil patrol "here daddy, no I hold" lol, C was measuring and cutting, and i was hammering it all together. starting to feel it a bit now - more from the cold than that actual activity though i think. Tonight we have put up some of our Christmas lights outside. still have a star and five sets of rope lights to put up, but we were all getting way too cold and tired so we called it quits.

Emma - Funny, was my MCHN who seemed most concerned (mainly about the angle she holds her legs) but apart from the steps on Friday night - she doesn't stand unsupported at all or any steps - is a balance thing I think - she is very top heavy (big head and ribcage).

No walking since Friday - only lots of knee walking - and bum shuffling - is like she is tormenting me!!!

BG - I would love to have a veggie patch - we had some stuff on the balcony but possums ate everything

A couple of questions am sure you clever ladies will know the answer to

- does anyone know where you can get those net bags with suckers on you can use for keeping bath toys in? I tried target and no luck - don't want a bucket as need them to drain and get air flowing round them easily
- can you get battery powered christmas tree lights - our tree is in a place we can't get power to - but I would like to have some - and I can't run a cable to it either. Or would solar power work if I put on balcony in day time maybe?

We downloaded some Christmas songs today, and have been reading CJ Christmas stories - trying to get in the mood - is difficult because of the opposite seasons here, and have never been that into it - but mum says have to for CJ.

i feel exausted everytime i fed jazz today jamie decided it was time to destroy something or touch something he shouldnt and today that was every hour argh

Vic yeah jade is top heavy too, she is bottom 5% for height n weight but 90% for head circ lol.
We are doing 2-3 steps between things but that's all so far, occasionally standing for 4-5 secs.

Jade stayed at her dads last week for the whole week, now all day she is asking for him, he won't be back til April (works up north) which sucks. Only time I get a babysitter is if I have work so that's no fun.

Well we went to see the paediatric podiatrist on Monday - and she recommended shoes with orthotics for CJ as her feet are very turned out - she said it isn't to do with her hips but to do with her large size at birth and being squished in the womb - apparently is relatively common in larger babies. Also gave us some exercises to do - one just tickling her feet on the inside to get her to turn them in and the other just rotating them in to stretch the muscles. They will right themselves over time. So today we had to go shoe shopping and tomorrow she will put in the orthotics. Typically of CJ she has today started walking about without the shoes!!! Buying shoes was a nightmare, there is so little choice and they are so expensive - one pair we were offered were 100 dollars!!! Her chubby little feet seemed to have problems in quite a few of the shoes in that there isn't enough height in them - and what is with majority of girls shoes being white or light pink - I mean white is a ridiculous color for shoes surely? Anyway she ended up with some brown boys ones as were only ones could get to fit properly anyway - I am not entirely happy with them - to me they look to big - are a 4.5 (two shops measured her at this) but the 4.5 in girls seemed smaller than the 4.5 in boys but they said were the same? Will see what podiatrist says - they were 50% off and you can change your mind within two weeks to get your money back so we shall see.

Anyway am happy to be doing something about her feet - a bit annoyed hadn't done anything sooner but everyone just said was her hips - if she hadn't had the hip problem I think some attention would have been paid to her feet - am also so happy she is finally starting to want to walk (although she won't in her new shoes yet - Doh)

Hope everyone is good - only two more days of work before Christmas - can't wait.

jamie wouldnt wear shoes to begin with when he walked we had to put soft soles then slightly harder ones then proper shoes
getting rid of his dummy is proving to be very hard

Vic - we have found that the converse high top sneakers are great shoes for the orthodics (mind you Baileys orthodics come up level with his ankle so the shoes hide them) and as they are nice and wide they accomodate the orthodics well. Also, they have a nice flat sole which has really encouraged Bailey to walk flatter. Bailey is a size 3, but with orthodics is actually a size 5. We have gone through 4 pairs now (two size 4's and recently bought 2 size 5's) and found that we can get them for $35 at the Converse Factory Outles store at Harbour town - they'd probably be at the DFOs in Melbourne. If you don't need high tops, they have the normal converse sneakers as well that also have nice flat soles. The reason we got the high tops is that we need to hide the orthodics from Bailey's sight, otherwise he cracks the sh*ts and wont wear them. I found that lace up shoes are best with orthodics as easier to tighten or loosen the fits depending on the orthodics this way. Also, they have really cool colours and designs. I'll take a pic and post on FB for you

Oh they might help Jamie walk a bit better too doesn't need orthodics but wearing boots every day can be good for his feet

Thanks for the info Naomi -CJ's orthotics are not that big and are on the inside edge so sound quite different to Bailey - for her we were told not to get shoes that were too flat as her feet are a bit too flat and rolled in (DH has flat feet - but arch don't develop till kids are 4 or 5 I think). The podiatrist was happy with the shoes - so will have to see how they go tomorrow. Is a shame because I love converse, but I have been told to avoid them too because of an issue with my hip. The orthotics are glued in but I think I might get a pair of Clarks from factory outlet here in Melbourne if I can that are a little bit girly just so have something to wear if DD needs to wear a dress or anything.

Oh gosh! Kyson really does take after me in the "foot department". He's already in a size 6 and getting close to needing to move into size 7's!!! Poor thing has the length of my feet and the width of his Daddy's feet. We find it difficult to find shoes that are able to be opened wide enough down low (closer to the toes) to get his feet in them. The sandals are nice and easy to put on, but they are also nice and easy for Kyson to take off himself hehe.

I have some fantastic news! Over the last week Kyson has slept through the night 6/7 times! The one night he didn't sleep through he only woke once, and then he slept in until 9am! Lol! He was sleeping through the night once every now and then for a couple of months, but over the last week it's like he's just flicked a switch and is happy to sleep through. Sometimes he'll wake and cry out and be grizzly for a couple of minutes, but then he just falls back to sleep. Of course this has cooincided with me not being able to sleep all night myself, so I'm not getting the full benefit, lol. Silly bladder is too small and squished now, and my pelvis is just stupid and sore. It's not just the back of the pelvis now either. My pubic bone has decided to join the pain-party haha. Hopefully all my bits and pieces fix themselves quickly after little Apple Blossom arrives

Wow mylitta that is awesome! it would have been awful getting up to both of them during the night!
it was like a switch for jade too she went from being up 2-3-4 times a night to sleeping thru (she wakes up maybe 1 night a week if that)

Having a hell of a time with the kids lately. DS has been suffering night terrors and night mares for the past month and Allira's cutting her eye teeth... so we're SUPER tired.
So busy too.

CJ can swipe off benches too, and has fascination with emptying wallets. I bribed her to be behaved on train other day by giving her a five dollar note - she was so pleased! Need to get her a piggy bank.

Any advice on sidecar or bassinet for new Bub, we are short on space and I can't cope with co sleeping full time mainly due to dh back. Bub will have to be in our room initially as only two bedrooms, but cj went straight into full size cot so a bit clueless. Also need to work out about pram/stroller that will take two fit in a corolla and go on public transport, prob am dreAming about tram but train at least. Will use a buggy board on back of maclaren for shorter outings and carry little one too but think will need something else? Any suggestions wise mums?

Wise? your not talking bout me then lol my pram would only fit on a train bus maybe tram no way I have a strider plus but maybe a phil&teds double pram will be not as wide basinet well jazzy refuses to sleep in hers I think it's just not comfy enough she sleeps in her rocker mostly but when we move I'm gonna try and get her in the cot coz she's decided 10-6 is a nice sleep it's nice for me too lol

Was thinking maybe a hammock if the cot doesn't work
