Tbh I haven't tried one like that. I just can't use soap based homemade ones. What's this bi-carb one?
What's the dinosaur spectacular? A show or a film?

it's a show with walking dinos and all!
hi girls
let me know how the walking w dinos goes - i quite want to take N but wonder if it is scary.
our school has a link to the producers and they had a T-Rex 'on the loose' at the school the other day! (we got an email about it when it happened and then it was in The Age too).
pretty cool!
I am thinking of going tp Disney on Ice in July - deciding if J will like it or if we just take N.
ETA - Cass, JM, Ginger (and anyone else in Melb) - shall we arrange a catch up? Happy to have you at my place or meet somewhere.
I hadn't realised that walking with dinosaurs was on again - I think DD would be freaked out by it though. Disney on Ice would be cool though. I'm really tempted to take K to Mary Poppins, but not sure if it's for her or me!!
Bananas - even at Woollies they are $13 a kg so considering we have a really bad habit of letting them just sit there before they go into the freezer for banana cake (I think DH prefers the cake over the real thing) we haven't bought any for ages.
Off to Canberra for my sister's engagement party this weekend.
Walking with dinosaurs was awesome. Really well done. Not too long, exxy but pretty special. My boys were not scared at all but I did notice some other kids around us were scared and some people walking out with kids? Not sure what that means though?
I'm happy to meet at your place mp. What day of the week suits you best? Thursdays are my best day xo
Have fun at engagement Cally!
I bought myself a banana at the shops and ate it then and there. No one else in the household seems to be complaining about the banana shortage...
We went to a mini walking with Dinos that was on at the National Museum, smaller scale and it didn't go for very long, but the kids were sitting on the ground in front of the stage so they all looked *very* big LOL. Few rapid exits by parents with small children. That was before E's day though...
Enjoy the party Cally! ETA I reckon Disney on Ice would be fabbo. But Mary Poppins best of all! Big Mary Poppins fanbase in this house LOL (I know *all* the songs)
I want a banana now
That's what I said! And fortunately I was there at the shop when the craving struck and i had $3 to blow on buying one LOL...
Hi ladies!!!
Dinosaurs must be an age thing, L loves them too.
I almost bought some banana's last night, but figure the kids are enjoying mandarins so bought extra of those instead.
I am trying to do a big clean up today so I can relax over the weekend. I have no work this weekend but a very full diary until the end of June. Its not going so well though, its 9.45 and I am still in my pj's sitting at the computer lol.
Mp- I'd love to catch up. I'll know more about my free days after Monday. :)
Katie- both my girls love dino's too. I think it's the stomping and roaring that they love.
I bought sone golden tipped bananas the other day. I usually pay 5c for three so I figure it evens out!
Great! I would love to have you all at my place if that works...
Weekends are best for me.... And from 23rd that's really all I can do as new job is full time. But fir 20th I can do at our place or some other time that week as I have some time off and I could see of Noah can have a day off from kinder
Or fir 13th in the afternoon I will be home w both boys.. That woud, worm really well actually as dh is away...
i could come any of those days mp. L usually has kinder on a fri arvo but i could wag one for a meet up :)
i ended up cancelling the gym membership....a bit sad, i know. i'm just going to drop L at kinder now and then i'll come back and explain further! gotta go!
Great! If it works for Cass and jm
we could do next friday afternoon. I can even make some dinner for the kid lets. Xxx
ok great, i could do next friday. let's see what the other girls say!
so i ended up cancelling the gym because of the j/creche situation. it wasn't just that he was getting upset, it was that he was trying to escape. the creche is a room just off the deep end of the pool and he was continually trying to get out the door. i didn't realise when i first joined that the staff room is actually in a room coming off the creche room, so the staff are constantly using the creche room as a thoroughfare coming in and out of the front door leading to the pool. the lady told me that every time someone would come through the door J would duck down and try to get through their legs. what a complete nightmare! anyway, after lots of anxiety and sleeplessness imagining him drowning, i decided that it was just not the right situation for J to be in, and therefore not the right situation for me. now .......to decide whether to just wait until next year or try a completely different gym. idk?
my house is a pigsty and i have no motivation! help!
My house is sty too and I have no motivation either. I'm counting on a burst of energy around 4 pm this afternoon so order is restored in time for Friday night chillout hour.
Ginger, totally the right call re the gym. They should have a two door "airlock" with a childsafe gate for one of those doors. It sounds profoundly unsafe. But don't let it tarnish the gym dream. Find a different gym with a better set up.
*aw mannnnn* Wish I could come to your place next friday MP. :(
Hey girl's I'm pleased to announce my hair is now officially curly. The hairdresser sent me home today with a bottle of "curl cream" product to prove it. :p.
woo hoo! curls get the girls LOL
i'm on the hunt for a new gym at the moment. feeling much less anxiety since i made the decision to pull the pin.
Sounds like you made the right decision G .:)
Next Friday should be good. S sleeps from 12-3, i can wake her or she can sleep in the car, but just warning she might get feral!
yep, we can do friday!
I wanna come!!
Cally, I am sorry you didn't get any poo.
Ginger, that gym childcare sounds like an accident waiting to happen! You did the right thing, hope you find a better gym soon.
MD, yay on the curls!! I have always wanted to get curls, the loose ones, but I am too cheap! Maybe one day I will get there. ATM I am living though W - his hair is way too shaggy but he has curls down the bottom so I don't want to cut it lol
md- does that mean you got a perm? or did they cut it to bring out your natural curls? i'm so confused.
so does anyone have anything nice planned for mothers day? we don't :( although L did make me a lovely cut out of a flower at kindy and told me he loves me :)
No. No perm. It's gone curly/wavy since chemo and it's now long enough to look properly like curls. Silver-lining type thing. :p
There has been top secret pre-mother's day activity in this household, and today I suggested we pop out tomorrow for breakfast which we nearly never ever do. It'll just be my local fave cafe which is pretty basic, but nice nonetheless. Then we're going over to my parents for arvo tea. That's it. I shouted myself a new buddha statue after the other one met its tragic fate, this one is RESIN (try knocking the head off that one DH). So there will be garden activity too. :) I've had too many Mother's Day far from family and with DH away to boot, sometimes you've got to organise something nice yourself.
that sounds like a lovely day md. i love going out for breakfast :) used to be one of my fave things to do before having kiddies.
we are heading into the city to catch up with dh's brother and his gf who are having a weekend away in melb. not sure exactly where we are meeting them as yet, but if they leave it up to us to suggest a destination i'm going to make them meet us at a playcentre LOL so at least we can actually talk over coffee instead of me just having to try to stop the kids breaking anything or making mess the whole time
So you didn't have curls before MD? Weird and cool all at once. :)
No mothers day plans here. Just another day. Although I will cook my mum breaky after watching the masterchef episode last night. green eggs and ham all round.
Breakfast and brunch were always my favorite meals out too G. I can't wait till the kids are old enough to enjoy that again!
Happy birthday for yesterday Arte. Did you get anything nice?
After talking about mothers day and explaining to lulu it meant she had to give me foot massages all day she said 'when is it 'kids day'?
i want a foot massage! i need to train mine to do that! LOL
JM, the answer to that (as spoken to me by my mother everytime I asked her) "It's kids' day everyday" LOL
Ginger, good luck with that. I have found that kid's foot massages typically last about 43 seconds...
43??? Man, your girls are good. I get about 30 sec. :p but I'm working on it!!
Well DH told me that his gift to me on mothers day is him going to soccer . his humour was not appreciated. so yeah nothing planned and definitely no small boxes hiding anywhere....even after i slowly walked passed the tiffany store with him the other day ('cause i'm subtle like ya know?!).
Yeah well if I had my way it'd be tiffany all round for the mummas in our Sept fam, because I know you are all exceptional mums and wonderful people to boot. x
Cass, well I suppose at least it's registered that it's Mother's Day, not every DH twigs.
*mwah* MD you are too spesh
poor DH just doesnt get it at all really lol. all the mums in my MG got little sparkly trinkets when they had their babies and yeah i was so the geeky gal left out lol!
i also just busted him pouring napisan into the fabric softener section of the washing machine after like the bazillionth time that i told him not to put it there (and showed him where time and time again) as it means that i end up with a blocked system...arghh!
 FWIW I didn't get any sparklies either. But I spose it doesn't really matter cos we got the good men, they are treasures in themselves. (Oh yeah, except when they put napisan in the fabric softener hole and smash the salsa bottles and knock the heads of our buddhas )
Happy Mother's Day everyone!!
We don't really celebrate it here. Was a bit miffed the first couple of years but now it isn't working out to be very practical. It is always the week of my birthday and feels like overkill, and then fathers day is bang in the middle of all the children's birthdays so we don't bother with that much either.
Thanks, I did have a nice birthday. W and I made a cake the day before and he and DH decorated it. Then DH took W to the shop and let him pick a present - he got a little cat carved from greenstone and held it all the way home to give to me. I love how excited W is about birthdays now! We even put all the candles on the cake (fire hazard!!!) and he helped me blow them out.
Had the worst night in ages that night though. W woke at 12pm and then 3 times in an hour until it was obvious he was wide awake so we plonked him in front of the telly. Then he came in every half hour to ask if I had had enough sleep yet. I realised he hadn't been in for a while at about 4am and he had finally crashed on the couch.
On the bright side, he went to be really easily last night and it is 7am and he is still in bed.
Downside, tired me = morning sickness all day.
Happy mothers day to the most beautiful and wonderful mums I know.
I have booked a night away! All by myself!! I am pretty excited about it. I am going to a show and then staying in the city for the night.
I think it will be alright, W prefers me to put him to bed but if he has no choice then DH will do. DH usually puts A to be and we both do resettles so he should be alright on that front.
Show is a bit embarrassing but it was the only weekend free after my exam and before DH goes to China.
A potential whole night of sleep and a sleep in!
Arte that sounds fantastic! What show are you seeing? I say go for a massage and pedi while you're away too
Ended up at the most awesome playground ever this morning- st Kilda adventure playground. Anyone been there? I reckon it's one of the best playgrounds I've ever been to. The boys went completely nuts
oh arte! now that is the BEST mothers day gift!!! oh wow, a sleep in, a bed all to yourself and meals all to yourself...WOW! now quick, stock up on trashy mags lol!
Arte - sounds awesome, a whole night to yourself!!
You will think less of me now, but the show is Kevin Bloody Wilson lol. It was the only choice if I wanted to stay localish and not waste all my time driving.
Ginger, I don't need a massage - had one yesterday! A couple of years back I made a friend here but she moved away and she has just come back and she is a massage/reflexologist and wanted a pregnant lady as a test subject so I got a freebie massage.
I am really starting to enjoy living here. I have my new friend that I have had quite a few playdates with and we get along well (and our DH's have become hunting buddies), and now my other friend has returned. And they are both newly pregnant!! I am so happy for them both, new friend has been trying for over a year and returned friend for around two years.
LOL Arte, at least you'd get a good laugh at his show.
Mother's day is a non event here although the kids do make me things at school and preschool. It was all a rush today though because we had to drive to Albury to meet my sister and Mum to bring her home! So I left home at 8am, went down, got mum, went across to my grandparents place for a visit seeing as we were in the area and then came home. We only got home at 9. DH had nightshift tonight so it was just the kids and I. The things the kids made were lovely though and it was the first time that Alister had made me anything. It was hilarious though when the girls told him to go and get it for me and he said 'It's not Mother's day until I'VE had breakfast!'' you can't argue with that though can you?
Really? haha! i reckon i am moving to your neighbourhood lol! man i want a massage....
that is so cool that you have got new friends with similar things happening in their lives. it makes such a difference to our social lives. i guess it was fate that decided that moving away wasnt the right time when you guys were thinking of it last (?) year...
kevin bloody wilson...is that dude still getting around lol
G: i have never been to the playground! whereabouts in St Kilda?
Well i took Lu to swimming lessons this morning and she made a massive lier out of me! I told the lady she was pretty confident but didn't like getting her face wet and relied heavily on me. Well, she jumped in, no flotation devices, head went under, she popped up and swam about 5m to the lady?! Why are kids always so much better when their parents aren't there? Show off! ;) So we're moving to a Saturday class for both girls, and i might not have to get in the pool at all, yippee! Although we'll see how S goes.
We then headed up to a Montessori kinder to have a look. It's the only place where they'd even entertain having a child there for just a few months. It's a bit $$$, but i have been a bit worried about Lu's social skills. She doesn't get to socialise much in the jungle. They have a fantastic set up, Lu loved it and didn't want to come home. The only problem is that it is a lot longer than i imagined. It's 3 full days, Wed, Thurs, Friday. 9-3. I am worried it will be too much for her. They assure me it wont be....... :o Am i doing the right thing???
