I'm not making excuses for him. Hes not really that bad, although encouragement is the key! He does sometimes have a bath with them. I am the one who gets them to bed because olivia tells him to go away. I worry about that because what will happen if I am not around for some reason?
I told him I will talk to him about things tonight. Bec is sick so it looks like sleep will not be coming to us until shes better.
Kel- it took me ages to get Olivia into her bed. First I started letting her come in with us, then I just made the decision to keep putting her back. Shes been in there since Feb and shes got the hang of it!!! It hasnt taken 6 months though, I think she got it after a week or 2 that she was going back to er bed. She still wakes some nights and tugs at my pillow. So i walk her back, put her to be and just sit there til shes back to sleep. Some nights I can do it 2 times other nights are great!
Enjoy your meet up today:)
OH BY THE WAY...WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR TRUNDLE BED KEL???
-
Hi!
Kel - I don't meant to sound harsh, but if you're going to get the kids back into their beds you can't give up half way through the night!!!!! I understand you're super tired and that its extremely difficult but it has to be done for your SANITY!!!! (and dh's also!)
It will make it way more difficult on you and the kids to do it again that way...In saying that if you're not for letting them cry at all them maybe it's best you keep them in your bed...???
I hate to say it, but it will take tears to make this happen - probably all of you!!
I kind of don't blame dh for being grumpy - it won't be just for the week if you don't get it sorted!!!
Big hugs to you both...I know it's hard to do but in the end it's the best for everyone - including the kids because it means they'll be getting good nights sleeps as well!!
(I really hope I don't offend you with this...I can just see you going round in circles though you poor buggers...)
As for bath time - let him complain, but still make him do it!! He knows by complaining that you will do it!!!!
Mel - Yep, sounds like it's time to make him pull his weight! LOL! Of course he's not that bad...I think they miss the signs when we're struggling though and we may need that bit of extra help...Often Michael will watch me sliding with the housework etc and he will wait until it's awful before he asks if I need some help (like this last fortnight! or if I'm sick) Good luck chatting tonight!
Dis - It is nice to be able to do somethings in peace and quiet hey?? When dh is bathing the boys I'm doing last minute tidying up and washing and cleaning the kitchen so that once they're asleep it's OUR time!! We both value that so much...it helps keep us sane! LOL!
Ok..I just want to say - I hope I don't come across like I know it all, I definitely don't..and it's always clearer to see things from an outside perspective! I also don't think that my way is the way everyone should do things, I just share how we do it because it works well for us...please any of you tell me if I sound out of line...I just want the best for you guys and want you all to be happy!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo but I know it might sound like I get on my high horse but I'm just really passionate about making choices that improve our situation...
As for us...Last night Ethan decided to feed at 11.45pm and I did but in my mind that was it for the night!! Then at about 3.45am he started crying...and crying but we were persistant and after about 20min (we went in a couple of times each in that time) he dozed off - although first he abruptly stopped so I sent dh in to check on him - LOL - and then he grizzled about 20min later but dh went in and calmed him and then he slept until 8.30am!! Woohoo!
We've had a nice morning out visiting a friend and the kids had lots of fun and it was nice to have a chat! So now, hopefully it will be relatively quiet afternoon...I so need to do food shopping though but I really can't be bothered! It's amazing how much a couple of big days out wrecks me!! I need more stamina!!
Ok...hope you're enjoying your day!! Chat later!!
-
Hey All,
My mum is up visiting today so just a quick one to say hi and check on you all.
Dis - Yay friends on facebook - you werent half easy to pick with Mickey Mouse:D!
Mel - Hope your chat with DH goes well, just be honest about it and say how much you love and appreciate him when he does help. Hope Bec doesnt worsen for you x
Kris- Yea windows unfortunately, the whole back of our house is glass so unfortunately unavoidable! I am sure when the baby comes they will be caked with sea salt and I wont care tho! Oh sometimes I just dont understand the comments some people make, your MIL saying about the bubs health WTf? Why say that??? I just dont get it!
Kel- Persist hon, you have this little window of time now with your DH being off to help, stick with it if you feel up to it. Its your decision 100% but are you trying to do TTS with Li? I dont think he is going to make any changes if you are rocking him back to sleep IYKWIM? Maybe give tresillian or karitane a quick call for some specific advice? You have been having a rough time as it is so  whatever you decide.
Anyhoo, we are good here x to all
-
Hi guys, just a quick one as dinner is ready.
I met up with Kel and her DH and kids today - it was great. Lily and Liam are the two most gorgeous little kids with beautiful big blue eyes. :) We didn't get a whole lot of time to chat because we met up at Lollipops and Ben wanted me to keep going on the big slide with him, but it was still really nice.
Kel, it worked! Jared and Ben both slept for two hours AT THE SAME TIME this afternoon!!!! Woohoo - I got some sleep!
BBL for proper personals if I have time. Tuesdays are always the roughest days in our house because DH works at his second job on Tuesdays and is only home for an hour and a half all day. :(
-
Hi girlies :)
Well, we had a lovely, but hectic day! After going to lollipops and meeting Dis (Mel), Ben and Jared, we went to my friends house who just had a baby, and just moved into her new house too and Lil and Li played there with her little girl and had a ball with all of the different toys and going outside onto their covered verandah. So I am hoping all of that activity and little time sleeping today (except for cat naps in the car) that they might give us a good night! And I am buggered, lol, so I hope for some sleep.
Dis, yay that the kids slept for you! I hope you had a rest too, Specially if your DH is going to be at work tonight. It was so great to meet you. Thankyou for today! Your boys are so lovely. I loved my little cuddle I got with Jared. My kids have always been way too busy to have much time for snuggles! DH was telling me about Ben talking to him and playing with Lil, and his "C'mon, just one mum..." negotiations, lol. Such a sweetie! Li fell asleep in the car on the way to my friends house, so DH sat in the car again, lol! He didn't mind he pottered about with it and put oil in it, and cleaned out the junk and stuff. Made himself useful for a change ;) As you saw today, he's really great with the kids most of the time, though he does lose his cool pretty easily and says such childish things to them at times. Like today he was telling Lil off for being whiny, and I reminded him she'd had a big day and little sleep and he said 'Oh well I'm tired too, I haven't slept at all", quite seriously! I told him to suck it up, he was the adult and he could control himself... anyway.....
Jen, yay your mum is visiting. It must be nice to have an extra pair of hands! Does she live in Sydney? One of the hard things about moving away, I guess. It would make it all the sweeter when you do see her! Hope you have a lovely day.
Ok, Jen, I'm having a mental block or something, but what is TTS? lol!
I am going to persist with the sleep thing, particularly with Lily. With Liam, I don't know what to do. He slept really well in the cot til 2am, well, not really well, he woke a few times, but I could just pop the dummy in and he'd be back off to sleep, but then 2am came and he was screaming when I tried to put the dum in. He is teething too. Makes it hard to know what he is crying for! But he's back in the cot tonight, and we'll see how he goes. I stuffed him full of food and booby juice so hopefully he will sleep. I might call Karitane tomorrow to get some tips, thanks for the suggestion, I never thought of that!
Kris, I so totally not offended with anything that you say! You're trying to help and I soooo appreciate it. It is sometimes easier to look from the outside and see the problem more clearly and without feelings, IKWYM. Then you can give advice which could be more practical.
I know that it is short term discomfort for long term gain (god I hope it is anyway!!!). It is hard for me at the moment with me going through this mini mid life crisis too! The way DH was acting this morning too after one night of sleep deprivation was ridiculous and I was questioning whether I could deal with him tantrumming too becaus ehe was tired. I tried to talk to him about the aims and goals he wants to achieve. I think we're on the same page, but I'm not sure how long he's going to persevere for. And I don't think I can do it alone.
I can't really let Liam cry too much cause Lily is quite a light sleeper and I don't want to wake her with him screaming, kwim. I'm not sure what to do about that, cause I don't want to replace one horrible habbit (cosleeping- not that that is horrible!) with another (patting and rocking), but I don't want him screaming the house down either....oh the dilemma!
With bath time, I am letting him b!tch and whinge and then tell him to get on with it. As I said I do half of it for him, he just has to actually bath them and dress them, the hard stuff! I do it some nights and he does it others. It's not a chore he has to do every night, so I don't know what his problem is!!
Mel, I got my trundle from Harvey Norman. Fairly exxy at $1300. But really it is two bed in one. I won't be buying Liam a big bed, I will use the trundle cause it has legs that extend and it turns into a big bed. When the legs are down it is a little higher than a mattress on the floor, perfect for him to 'learn' to sleep in his own bed. I got 2 good mattresses too, so that made it more $$. I will just have to get a bed head for Li's bed when he has his own room.
Ok, I have some chocolate icecream to eat and a bath to have, so gotta go!! Hope you're all well :D
-
Wow its been quiet round these parts.....
Not much happening here - playgroup yesterday, Beau got pushed over so it was drama drama drama for him:doh: This morning he went on the step for whinging CONSTANTLY about the "pram" - meaning "go out". Then we went to a friends and walked down to the beach for a coffee and ice cream and he was an absolute angel even though he was over an hour late for his nap. So he is asleep now and I though I would check in here:D
Kel- TTC just means teach to sleep, just wondering if you were planning on leaving/consoling or what. Hope the last few nights have gone better for you guys and you have been having some fun in the days on holidays! Did you call Karitane? No, my mum lives in the Blue Mountains so even further than sydney LOL! It is nice to see her, I think her limit with B is about 2 days though and she wants her peace back IYKWIM?
Dis- Glad you had a great time catching up with Kel and had a good day!
Hi to everyone else hope you are all well xxxx PS got that Big W baby book/catalogue in the mail the other day, how many great things are on the market now, that werent two years ago?? Beau's old baby clothes are loosing their appeal by the second for the next bub:lol:
-
Hi!
Will have to catch up later - am off to Bonnie Doon to see the in-laws for the weekend!! Wish me luck - LOL!
Hope you're all well and getting some sleep! Enjoy your weekends!!

Hello just thought i should pop in. Been having a tough time with Rebecca and her sleep for the past week now. I really dont think I have got more than 2 hours sleep at at time. She seems to wake herself up by rolling on her tummy and pushing to the end of the cot. Then she refuses to resettle, then when I get her back to bed she wakes up crying. She just wants to sleep with us. When I think about it, this is the time that Olivia started not sleeping. It went all the way until ...recently! So I am so tired and grumpy. I have even fallen asleep on the couch a few times and liv goes wake up mummy. I am so tired that i continue questioning myself and if i really can do this a 3rd time! And I am wondering if i want another baby so that I can try for a boy and I know thas wrong....so many questions. I just want to make sure I will be able to manage with lack of sleep and 3 kids. I envy those people who get sleeping children.
Ok better run, liv wants outside. Its been lovely here and making the most of it.
-
Mel, I'm sorry you're having a rough time with Becca's sleep. Did you try Karitane with Liv? Sleep deprivation can drive you nuts. If you really do want three though, you will find a way to cope ~ we always do it somehow :) My crazy cousin in law, who is the same age as me, is going back now for number EIGHT. Can you believe that?!?!!
Jen, don't get too carried away with the clothes, but you will need some new clothes for your bub as he will be born in a different season to Beau. I've found that with Jared, I was hoping to use all of Ben's but a lot are the wrong season at the wrong time.
Kris, hope you're having a great time :)
Kel, it was really good to catch up. Sorry we didn't have a lot of time to catch up, with Ben wanting me to keep going up to the big slide with him. We'll have to do it again soon.
Us, we have been flat out again. I think I might be doing too much and am going to try and take it easy for the next couple of weeks. We've been out almost every day for the past three weeks!
Jared has been adorable. He is now dancing and waving and is just so cute! He also sings as he's dancing which is really funny and rolls his tongue making funny noises. He is SO going to be my clown child
Ben has been a bit sick. Just a bit of an upset tummy, so the cloth nappies have been put away for a while. It was just too messy for me to deal with! He has been off his food too, which is totally unlike him. He usually a bottomless pit, but I barely get a sandwich in him all day right now.
I better go and start getting ready to head out to the footy. I wasn't going to go because it's such a pain to take Jared, but the season is almost over and I've already missed a few games so I want to try and get my money's worth out of my membership!
-
Cheer on the swannies for us DG, it's Trev's team and he wants to get Pip a footy jersey
Sorry I haven't been around, work has been very, very full-on, we've been going for an ISO9001 certification which is a heap of work ... just realised that I haven't had my period yet, it usually comes on Friday afternoon (lawdy knows why!) so we've got a HPT that I'll do tomorrow.
Kel - how are you feeling now hun, I had to get a refill on my ADs and asked Trev if he thought I've been more stable, he reckons that over the past 6 weeks or so I have been, that coincides with him finishing up at work and doing more renos. So is it a) that the stress of having to leave work to pick up Pip at any time is over. b) my husband is happy c) the house is getting finished finally! d) the women's sacred circle healing group e) all of the above?
I think that I've been sleeping a lot better cause I know that I don't need to get up and go to work after a horrid night, and I'm with Jen, downsize if you can!
Hope everyone's going well. Jen, can't believe your MIL (although the BIL sounds cool!) and Mel, hope Becca & Livvy settle down soon and you get some sleep.
Hopefully I'll catch up with everyone soon!
-
Hey girls, after 2 nights of somewhat better sleep I am feeling much better...besides this stupid migrane headache. Bec slept last night from 8 til 11, then fed then slept til 510...but she stayed up, then when she dozed back to sleep. Liv woke up. Am a bit tired and I think thats why I have a headache. Am hoping that the past week has just been teeth and snot. Thanks gfor your words. I know I want number 3 but was just questioning my ability...especially in a sleep deprive state!
I just thought I would pop in and see how Kaz is....have you tested???? Hope you are utd:)
We had a windy night and the trampoline got blown over.
Hello to all...sorry its short, my heads playing funny tricks
-
Hey Mel, I can't believe the week you've had, I hope the girls sort out soon.
Last night Pip did a super-pee so woke up wet around 6am, Trev changed him and brought him into our bed, I'm amazed he went back to sleep, with this wind, we have a tarp outside our bedroom window and it flaps horridly!
Tested - negative. Ah well. Next time! And we're trying for a girl, so only DTD prior to O :) Good news: I can drink without guilt :D
Hope all's going well, Pip & I will be heading to Yarra Glen for the market, would go to Mulvern but it's raining now and Yarra Glen is under cover :)
Have a great day ladies!
-
Kaz, bummer about the negative HPT. You sound pretty upbeat though, well done. Fingers crossed for pink positive next month!
Sounds like your work has been crazy.
Congrats on the house getting close to finished!
I mustn't have cheered loud enough last night! It was agonisingly close yet again, but I'm still happy with the way the boys are playing. Next season doesn't seem so grim anymore :)
Mel, glad that you had a bit of a better sleep. I had a shocker last night and lost it with Jared - ended up yelling. It really does your head in. Hope your migraine doesn't last too long. Take it easy for the next few days (as if you can!). I get two day 'migraine hangovers' now and feel terrible after I've had one.
Us, we had a shocker last night. We didn't get home from the footy until after 11 and then Jared wanted to be fed. I can't believe how reliant he is on solid food already! So we didn't get to bed until after midnight - then he was up at 3:30am for a feed. He was really sooky too and I lost it and yelled. DH came out to help, but J is such a mummy's boy - he won't settle for anybody else. Finally got back to sleep after an hour and some bonjella. The guilt hit me this morning when I felt his first tooth which finally came through last night and probably accounts for all the crying and sooking - oops!
We had DH's soccer semi's today and they won in a penalty shoot out. DH scored twice in the game, but the second one was (wrongly) disallowed so it went to the shoot out. DH went LAST and it all came down to his shot. I stood looking at the toilet block while he kicked it - I was so nervous! He got it though so he was a happy boy this afternoon. Ben loves going to soccer. The guys have all adopted him as their team mascot and he bugs them all to play kicks with him  DH's gone off to Sydney FC tonight so I'm alone, but I'm use to that on a Sunday night :)
The weather was unbelievable today! DH got a bit burnt and I think Ben might even be a little pink despite the layers of sunscreen. Of course I got NO washing done - it would have dried in no time, but we had to leave so early for soccer.
Another week awaits....
-
DG - DH is going to the collingwood/swans game next week - I'm thankful he's out of the house!!!!!
Hey I've found something that stops a Pip tanty in its tracks - breathing exercises! I get him to breathe in through his nose and out through his mouth - well, its mostly me breathing, but it calms him down. Hoping this will teach him how to calm himself in later years :) (of course, I can't get DH to do this, he just keeps screeching at poor Pip)
DG - I wish we had sunshine, my nappies could have done with it ... instead we had heaps of wind and then a thunderstorm, and I was happily out in it with my chainsaw!
And yeah, although still no AF ... we really need an avatar of a butterfly net catching a sperm & egg!
-
HEy Kaz...I wonder whats happening with AF?!?! Sounds good the breathing exercises. I did that with Olivia last night after she pulled my hair and hit me trying to get her to sleep....see what 40 minutes of day sleep does! I was so angry with her last night after she did that, it really hurt. She did apologise and went to bed, but it was already 1030 by then. I definately cant let her sleep during the day anymore. At least Bec is back to a better sleeping pattern, just woke for a feed once.
The girls are playing much better together now, especially since Bec is crawling fast and pulling herself up. Its actually nice to see, instead of Liv hurting her, shes sharing. Olivias vocab has dramatically increased and I can hold proper conversations with her. She told me this morning that she was taking dollies down to Parkmore (local shopping centre) for a walk in the pram.
Mel- hope you got a better sleep last night. Teeth suck.
Ok got to go and watch bec....I can see the bruises on her head from falling already!
-
HI Girls,
Just a quick hi as we are waiting to get picked up to go to a friends place ;)
Mel- Sorry you have been having such a bad time with Bec, sleep deprivation is such torture, you become a totally different person I think! I dont think there is anything wrong with trying for a particular sex baby, I guess the question is, would you be happy with another girl if that happens?
Dis- Hey congratulations for your DH kicking the winning goal- wow! Dont beat yourself up too much about missing Jared's tooth, I think we have all lost it at the 'wrong time' a lot! LOL!
Kaz - You sound like you coped through the winds ok, I thought of you when I saw the Dandenong Ranges on the news, good tip with the breathing excercises, might give that a go next time, good luck next month DTD!
See you all later xxx
-
Yay! We got much better sleep last night! I love Nurofen  I don't like using it a lot, but Jared was just so miserable, even after the Brauers :( Nurofen was the only thing that finally got him to sleep and then he only woke up once for a feed :) Looks like the other bottom middle tooth is getting ready to erupt too.
Ben's being super-cuddly today. I definitely think we need a week mostly at home. He's been running from one toy to the next today too, and riding his bike around. It's like he's missed all his toys and is trying to catch up with them
Kaz, we've got wind today, although I don't think it was anything like what you guys had down there yesterday.
Mel, Liv and Bec sound so cute playing together! I am half dreading/half looking forward to Jared getting mobile. We have tiles throughout our whole house (except bedrooms) so I'm expecting many bruises!
Aren't the conversations awesome now? This morning I opened Ben's shutters and straight away he said "Oh, it's windy outside!". Just so much more aware and understanding of everything.
Jen, have fun at your friends house!
-
Dis how cute is Ben saying it's windy? How funny! Beau is still at the repetition conversation stage where he says a series of words to get his point across but over and over! Glad Jared had a better sleep, love the Nuerofen when they need it! Enjoy home this week...friends house was ok, think we left it too late and B was crabby, if one little thing happens to him he doesnt recover! Sleep now though so I am into the dark cooking chocolate as thats all we have, have been feeling "pregnant" the last two days, think the warmer weather is draining me or something....anyway
