Heaven - on the sleep issues.

Went to the MCHN nurse today, and he's grown another cm in length and his weight is 40g heavier than on the 30th Jan. I think he's just being a baby.

Re the avatar.. mine is going to be really left field. I like all of your avatars and I did think about having a family on mine but I'd rather just see what turns up. :-D

Hi all, just quickly popping in to say I'm reading and keeping up with all the posts, just not getting a lot of time to post myself.

Sounds like we're all having downers....

    Kaz sorry about your pup

Nai, sorry about AF and DP...that really sucks. Hope you're all well for the girls' birthdays.

Ali, hope DD settles into creche quickly.

Olive, wow on all those teeth! Glad DD1 is enjoying kinder.

Heaven, I'm of the same thought as you...go with the flow. Can't be bothered stressing over what he is and isn't doing. DD certainly is a clever little miss!

Malyna, sorry to hear of the settling issues. It sounds like the nurses at the sleep clinic are trying to get the babies to desensitize...I don't see how letting them scream in distress is helpful. Then again, maybe they didn't think his screaming was too bad, but obviously you know best so do not feel like you're "giving in" by picking him up! There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. L does my head in continuously with his whinging and crying and cosleeping, but I pick him up and I sleep with him because that's what works. I certainly don't think it's wrong - it's not ideal for me, I'd rather him sleep through the night in his own bed sure, but I give an even higher preference for ensuring he feels loved, reassured and secure. So if that means not letting him cry and having a clingy baby then so be it. They all develop at their own pace - he won't be wanting you to carry him in 10 years time (well, that's what I keep reminding myself each time I want to scream "this is just ridiculous, shut up!!!!") Also, with his cries triggering bad memories for you, that seems an even bigger indication that your mummy instincts are right. Trust them, and pick him up if you feel he is very upset

On a more positive note...CONGRATULATIONS OP!! It's a boy yayy! Believe it or not, I've never really been peed on! Just very lucky I guess...I don't even do the covering willy with a wipe or anything, just wing it! I have no idea about toilet training though...DP is going to have to take charge there He's a bit prudish though, which I find odd. He won't undress/dress in front of L and refuses to bath/shower with him. He doesn't want L to see his man bits...is that strange for a dad? I know I had baths with both my mum and my dad...thought it was normal!

Shell, woohoo on the CC place! Hope she enjoys it.

Hi to Pinny, Ellie, Megie and anyone else I missed, sorry!

AFU, L's 8th tooth is cutting through. He now has 4 top and 4 bottom! We have his 12 month check in 2 weeks time - looking forward to weighing him Other news...DP's cousin and his wife had their first baby this morning. She was induced and had her waters broken and was in labour for something like 40 hours Only had gas and those water injections for the back pain. Amazing effort. We went to visit them today, they had a little girl! 8 and a half lbs and she looked so tiny! L was 6lb 5oz and I can't remember him being that small! Suprisingly I don't feel too clucky at all (thank God).

Anyway, it's past midnight so better be off. MG tomorrow at 11am. It suits all the other babys' routines but not ours. L still has 2 days sleeps, one at 11am and one at 3pm. Not sure what to do if we want to be there on time. Do I get him up earlier in hopes he has his first nap earlier? Or do I try and keep him awake so he only has one day sleep after lunch? I really don't want to miss out on going just because it's his sleep time

Pinny - 8 teeth - wow! now that's impressive. DH and I were the same with the nurses - we decided how we wanted to bring Alex up and they just didn't listen to our parenting style, so I just pick him up and cuddle him (thanks for everyone's support)

    Olive - Alex's stats
    8.5mths - W 7950, L 68.8, HC 44.8
    10mths - W 8300, L 71.8 (didn't measure HC)
    11mths - W 8300, L 72.5 (Jan 19)
    11mths - W 8405, L 73cm, HC 46.5 (Jan 30)
    today - W 8450, L73.6 (didn't measure HC)

SIL sent me the stats for her baby (who is off the charts- he's going to be tall) - and there were months when he did not gain weight but gained length and he's a perfectly happy almost 3 year old.

Olive he wakes around 8am. Yesterday we ended up going to MG at 11am as usual, and he hadn't had a sleep yet! He just wasn't tired. He played and had lunch there and we left around 1pm and he fell asleep in the car on the way home. So no sleep until 1pm! I took him from the car to our bed and resettled him and he slept until 3pm - 2 hours! Of course he didn't have a second sleep and by bedtime (7pm) he was exhausted and fell asleep straight away with some boobie. It was great! It convinced me to try and drop the morning sleep altogether and just do one long sleep after lunch BUT today he woke up miserable with a temp. He is already asleep and has been since about 9:30am...there goes the new routine out the window lol. He is definitely having an off day, so we'll see tomorrow.

L was almost 9kgs at the 8 month check, and he's just squeezing into the crawler nappies (going to get the toddler ones next), so I'm assuming he's over 10kgs, and he's too big for 0's now, he's in 1's. My baby is not a baby anymore He hardly eats, so I'm not sure how he's such a boof...!
