holly
dont stress
we dont have a set routine at all for boof- he just leads and sleeps when he needs to and it has always worked out that he has a big block at nite.
mind you, i do notice that he does get tired around the same times of the day, so i tend to be more aware of his tired cues at those times.
saying that boof pretty much has to work around the routines and lives of the older ones. The poor poss sometimes gets woken everytime he goes to sleep, if I have to go out with the twins. He certainly has learnt just to go to sleep whereever.
I had a really set thing happening with the twins- i had to as they had to be fed around the clock every three hours for the first 6 months of their lives- and they didint sleep through the nite until they were 3 years old!!! Where as boof has no routine and he has allready slept quite a few nites through! So go figure- its whatever works for the babe and for mum!!!
boof been really unsettled today- firs time ever!
hmm dunno what is up with him not a happy camper at all today!
Ok he is awake again and sitting next to me watching me type - too cute
better go my boy needs me!
mwah

Shell - I am glad your first dummy free day went well. Keep us posted on how it goes.
Holly- You sound liek you ahve it tough. Hang in there. It will improve.
Kaz- E generally goes to bed at about 8 - 8:30, as I put J to bed first then feed her. Quite often she will feed to sleep, but will self settle also. Usually she goes through till anywhere between 3am to 7am. (but more often 3am) If she wakes before this, I will resettle. If she feeds before 4am, she will then sleep till about 8am, If she goes throug till 7am ish, she will then sleep till 10am. During the day I ahve no set bedtimes, but try not to let her havea sleep that runs later than 6pm or else she doesn't want to go to bed. During the day she wil do anywhere from 45 mins to 2 hours.
AJP - Hoping the unwrapping works soon. e never really liked wrapping. I was lucky there.
OK gotta run
-
Holly-- Big Hug....I'm sure L sleep will improve once his breathing gets sorted out, must be so hard for you....but try to remember that is probably the only reason he hasn't got himself into a routine....My L too likes to snuggle in bed with the booby for a dummy, DH goes to work at 4am so I find that from that time onwards I put L into bed with me and just keep swapping boobs as he empties each one, so your not alone there...Chin up it will get better, I promise.....
-
Holly- don't worry, we don't have a routine either!! Or maybe we do but I'm not happy with it! I'm trying to have her first feed of the day at 6.30am (later would be good) but this never happens. She always wakes up at 5am!! Won't go back to sleep!! Ahhh!!!! And she won't go to bed early. She will only go to bed at 8.30, lol. She has decided this for herself. Then she wakes 2-3 times and is up for the day at 5am. Day sleeps totally suck, she will only sleep in the HAB or with me holding her! If I put her down she will wake up. No hope of self settling either. How on earth is everyone getting their babies to self-settle? I'm about to start trying the plan in the book 'the no-cry sleep solution'. Hopefully we'll start soon but it's hard coz I know when we start it's going to be worse for a bit before it gets better. But I need to teach her to go to sleep on her own bc she's too heavy for all this rocking now!
-
shell - woot on the dummy free time.
we don't have a clock based routine. I don't have an alarm clock in the bedroom (always used my mobile) but I roughly try and get Alex down by 8pm, last night he went into his cot by about 11pm (so it takes awhile - I have to wait until he is zonked before putting him in his cot).. then up by 8-9am - active til about 10/11am then sleep in my arms for an hour or so, activity til 2-3pm, then another booby fest until whenever he wakes up (maybe 5pm?). but I run mostly on Alex time.. this non-routine works for us - don't have any other kids around to worry about and I enjoy reading!
If I have trouble settling him (like his nonroutine ain't enough of a hassle) I will play with him a bit until he just looses interest and then whack him back on the boob and he'll fall asleep pretty quickly. I also pat his bum when he's falling asleep so hopefully he will associate that with sleepiness and will eventually be able to remove the boob element.
Heaven - Alex will self settle if he is really tired and has had a cuddle fest for several hours. I hear you on the day time sleeps.
-
Holly- quick question, when you feed L overnight in your bed, do you sit him up to burp him??? My L will feed and we both fall asleep with my boob hanging out on tap for him like a dummy!!!:redface:really bad habit I know and I was so not like that with DD but I find I'm just so tired and it's the quickest way.
I then worry about wind coz he always burps after feeds when I'm sitting up or he gets a pain about 20 mins after and wakes himself up again, he doesn't seem to have pain when I'm feeding him lying down but he is sucking on the boob to settle so he might just be happy to be on the boob...
Sorry rambling on...back to the original question do you burp L when you lie down and feed him???
-
pinny ive always wondered the same!!
with all this talk of sleep.... how long do most bubbas stay awake between sleeps???
millie still only lasts around 60-75 mins
-
AJP- Lewis is only awakefor that long too , if I'm really pushing it he will stay awake for 1.5hrs but it's usually coz I'm busy doing stuff and have missed the cues...and then he is not as easy to self settle.
-
good im glad its not just me!! though your lucky because lewis sleeps longer than miss millie! maybe lewis can have a chat with millie on thursday!
-
Pinny- I don't burp DD at night. I read that when they have those sleepy feeds they don't get wind bc they're so sleepy and suck slowly.
AJP- DD is up for about 1.5hrs and around 2hrs in the afternoon.
-
Emily varies in awake time depending on her naps, if she only has 45 min nap then she'll be tired after an hour but if she sleeps for 1.5hrs she can stay awake for 1.5 or over.
Just took Ash to Dorothy Dinoaur show, waste money she just sat there not overally impressed, asked her if she enjoyed it and she said no, came home and she decided to kick Emily, not hard but still she knows its not allowed and then hit me when I told her off. She has been unwell and still bit off but I don't allow that. So not very good day so far! Plus we all coughing all night.
-
Hehe thanks for all the support, I feel a bit like a sook
Pinny, no I rarely sit him up to burp him because, like you, I'm just too zombied out and usually fall asleep feeding him. Also, sitting him up to burp him tends to wake him up all over again  Glad I'm not the only one lol.
Heaven, Grace sounds like L during the day! I rarely use the hab anymore, he's just getting too heavy and although it's meant to be "hands free" I feel like I still need to support his head (maybe because he's got a boof head?!) and I actually can't do a whole lot wearing it! So I feed and rock/carry him to sleep during the day.
He is asleep right now, been sleeping since 11:35. I wonder if this will be a miracle hour+ long sleep!! He was screaming blue murder before he went down though. Today was his first day having his meds increased to 7ml, so after I gave it to him he just would not stop screaming. Finally, after many attempts, got him to calm down on the boob, but he didn't want milk (he just kept sucking, opening his mouth to spit out the milk and sucking again!). I tried to put him down, but failed the first time, he just woke up with this whiny squealy cry (which really peeves me because it's a stubborn "I wanna be held" cry, so I picked him up again and managed to put him down a few minutues later - woohoo!!
Shell - yay on the dummy-free day sleeps!! Oh and what a game last night!! My older brother was rolling around on the floor in excitement!
Det, yeah I should really start recording his sleepy periods and see if there's a pattern. Sounds like a good idea, if there even is a pattern! Actually I can tell you right now, today is totally different than yesterday - he had his first day sleep at 1pm yesterday and today he went down at 11:35am. Hmmm, keep persevering I guess! I couldnt imagine having twins! I hope boof is back to his normal happy self today.
Megie, sounds like E has a fantastic sleep pattern!
Tarkine, L has to be zonked too if I put him down, or he's straight back up!
AJP, L is awake for hours before he has a sleep. He often only has one or two half hour naps a day. You would think he'd be buggered by the evening!
Anyway, I'm really going to try and space out his feeds more like I used to...I honestly think his sleeps have gone to crap since I've stopped looking at the clock (even though they say going by the clock only stresses you out - I'm stressed regardless!) Wow it's been 25 minutes and not a peep! Hope I'm not jinxing myself.
Hi to everyone else! I'll be back later to report how long he slept for lol
xox
-
Ah Holly  L sounds like hard work atm. I really think you'll feel like you have a different baby once his nose and breathing have been sorted out. I hope he stays asleep for you today!
Thanks for all your sleep replies girls. I guess they're all really different huh?
AJP - J is usually getting tired by 60-75mins awake too although like Shell said, if he's had a big long sleep then he can go for longer. Also, if we're out and about and he has a changing view of the world, he will stay awake for a really really long time (like 3-4hours :o ) without getting upset. He's such a rubberneck! He's got to check everything out. The minute we're back in a familiar environment like the car or home, he cracks it big time!
Shell - Sorry you guys are having a rough time. Toddler-hood sounds hard on everybody!
Det - wonder whats going on with boof? Hope he's not unwell darl.
AFM - Bought myself a new breastfeeding chair yesterday. It was floor stock so got it for a bargain price and it's a recliner thingy. So much better than the other chair I was using for night feeds!
Buggar he's awake again!
-
kaz - yay on thechair purchase.
Holly - You really sound like you ar still doing it tough. I can't complain - Emilia really isn't that bad, but compared to J she is much worse. J slept right through 7 to 7 at 12 weeks, and that never really changed. He never has had a night feed since. He also did 2 good day sleeps of 2 hours each, so E is much different. I think part of it is that i am busy with J so I don't have as much time to "work" on getting her into such a good routine.
Did anyone brave the the toy sales??
-
Meg - 7 to 7 at 12 weeks :o Wow!!
Ok - I have decided to follow the advice posted by Ali re: not getting them up out of bed until they are due for the next feed. So, I've just spent the last hour settling J back to sleep. :o I'm probably speaking too soon cause we've had a couple of false starts already where I thought he was asleep but he was actually only pretending for 5 mins but :crossfingers: he's asleep properly now.
-
Yeah I try resettle but usually I can tell if she is happy and smiling I know she won't go back if she is crying then I'll give it 20 mins roughly to resettle and if doesn't work I get her up.
I was thinking about how when Ash gave up day sleeps and altho it was bad cause didn't give me break in a way it was good cause no settling, no having to be home by certain time so she could sleep.
-
Gosh you girls talk so much
Miss J doesn't really have a daytime routine although she generally wakes between 6.30 - 7.30am depending on when DD1 wakes up and comes into our room and makes noise! She is normally back in bed for her nap about 9am then the rest of the day is determined by how long she sleeps and he feeds fit around that. Then at the end of the day I make sure she is awake by 5pm from her last nap otherwise she won't go to sleep at bed time. Then we go into the bedtime routine.
AJP - Miss J can be awake for 60-120 mins at the moment depending on what's happing. If she is happy and being entertained she can go to about 2hours before cracking it!
Pinny - I don't burp Miss J at night either and it doesn't seem to bother her at all.
Holly - hope L is going ok on his increased medication. Fingers crossed he had a good sleep for you!
Megie - J sounds like he was a great sleeper. I didn't brave the toy sales but I didn't see anything in the catalogues that really tempted me.
Kaz - woohoo on the new chair!!
AFM - nothing much happening here. I am going well on WW - lost 3.25kg so far. I think I will just be having a bit of a cruisey week at home this week.
-
Ok - all that effort settling bought me a whole 20 mins of sleep :( Will continue to persevere with it for the rest of the week and see what happens. He's due for a feed now anyway (in that it's been over 3 hours since the last one).
Nai - I think Jacob and Miss J are on the same channel with their day routine! whoohoo on the weight loss! Well done. I have not been following it lately at all :( I should get back into counting points again.
-
Well he had his first sleep for the day at 11:35am, woke 45mins later at 12:20pm...then suprisingly fell asleep again after a big whinge at 2:00pm, woke 50mins later at 2:50pm, fed him, he did a big poo and now DP has him. Pretty good, I'm happy with that. So he's been awake for about an hour now and I will be very suprised if he does another sleep before dinner. I expect him to be awake til about 7-8pm when I'll start really trying to get him down! Maybe he's being over-stimulated...I should try and put him down a lot sooner but I run out of patience trying to settle him when he thinks it's party time  Any ideas on how to get him sleepy other than feeding him??
Megie, I can't believe J slept from 7-7 at 12 weeks! Very impressive! I am hanging onto hope that if we have another bub, it will be a sleeper!
Kaz, yay on the good buy!
Nai, woohoo on weight loss!
Shell, for some reason when L wakes I can never resettle him - crying or smiling, he just wants to be picked up! Maybe I should do what you do and just persevere for 15-20mins and then give up lol.
Anyway, got 2 mums and their bubs coming around to my place tomorrow...better clean up a bit, this place is so embarrassing, looks like a creche with toys and sh*t everywhere! xox
-
Hi all
Sorry for being MIA, it seems like every time I think to get out the laptop Isabel wakes up, I'm too tired or the internet is broken/DH has the computer. How do you all get the time??
Fair bit been going on. We went to sleep school last Monday (so its been over a week since I posted, oops  ) where I didn't learn terribly much theoretically - I think I am educated too well by BB! But what I did learn is that I *can* resettle DD and that I *should* be trying.
When we were there I managed to get her to sleep more than 40 mins twice and both times after that she was rubbing eyes within 45mins of being awake. So I think I have a very tired bub on my hands.
Since then have been trying to get her into more of a routine, which should go like this:
7am - wake and feed, play time
9am - down for sleep
11am - wake and feed, play time
1pm - down for sleep
3pm - wake and feed, play
4.30ish - nap (45mins)
5.15ish - wake and quiet play, then bath
6.30pm - last feed
7pm - bed
It is nothing like that however. She generally wakes around 7am and we is ready for sleep by about 8.45am. The mornings are better and I have had some success in resettling between naps but afternoons are terrible and really varied. This afternoon she slept for 1.25hrs without resettling and then cracked it when I tried to resettle. She was still tired but lost the plot. Since then she's been feral - grizzly, screaming, all the above. Sigh!
She's asleep now which I'm sure breaks all the "don't give them a sleep after 5pm" rules. Whatever!!
Overnight it varies. I'm thinking that I should do a "shell" and throw out all the dummies.
Have read all your posts but running out of time to reply as my minister is coming around at 6pm for a chat about DD's baptism. Will try and catch up soon girls. Sorry for being so selfish. Just feeling so tired and down about it all!
-
OP- Routine is good but just use as a rough guide, if she is tired put her doen to sleep. We had a terrible time with DD1 and we to a sleep clinic, we did eventually get somewhere, so I try some of the same things with Emily now cause I know it can work I feel bit more confident in doing it. Eventually she will get into a predictable routine where you'll know roughly what time she wants to sleep or be awake, always changes every so often tho.
Holly- maybe he gets past that tired point and gets that second wind and is harder to resettle. I find if I miss the window she is much harder to settle. The prob also is sleep promotes sleep but hard to get it going like that. I guess once the breathing gets sorted then you can put your time and energy into settling him easier.
Kaz- Usually you need to give something new at least 3 days to see if its working or not.
Nai- woohoo on the weight loss! I so need to tone up, hate seeing myself naked these days. I blame these girls of mine for it!
-
Typing one handed so will be short
Ocean-Did the sleep clinic say no sleep after 5pm?
Nai-well done on wait loss, bet your happy!!!
Kaz- Good Luck with the resettling, I'm going to try being better at night and no co sleeping/feeding back to sleep this week, you've given me inspiration. Sounds like you got a bargin with the chair.
Ok making too many mistakes typing one handed will be back later...
-
shell bummer about the dorothy show! ive only ever taken sophie to the playschool concerts.
how are all the sickies in the house?
holly your not a sook  youve certainly got your hands full, i take my hat off to you hun!
it does sound like Leon is overtired though, remember sleep creats sleep, the more they get the more they want it!
kaz yay on the chair and  at yout little esme!!
meg sophie was the same sleeping through from 3 weeks :o
nai awesome job with WW!!!
op sorry sleep school didnt really help, maybe just use their settling techniques but stick to her routine, you know her better than anyone
please dont get down about it
all this talk of sleep!! for us we have no routine except night, as long as millie isnt awake from her last sleep before 5 and is up by 6 for bath time, thinks are ok!
but for during the day i just go with the flow! she normally has 4-5 sleeps a day most are 45-60 mins, sometimes one will be longer. i leave her in bed to see if shes going to go back to sleep, but get her up when she gets snippy,i feed her 2.5-3 hourly, and dont follow the feed play sleep thing. im much more relaxed about sleep this time, i used to get quiet anxious with sophies sleeps and it got me no where!
as long as we all remember that all bubs are differet all will be right!! no two bubs are the same! i hope no one thinks their not doing a great job just because some sleep better than others, were all super duper mummies!!! hope all that came out ok
-
wow.. I really admire you gals for getting your bubs to sleep in their cots during the day - Alex won't go near it at all - he gets wide awake when I put him in, so I have to cuddle him for hours
meg - didn't venture out to the toy sales
Nai - way to go on the weight loss!
Ali- did I thank you for putting up the sleep info? Well thank you
AFM - DH's dad estate is just going from bad to worse and now its potentially going to court with the executors (ie us) being sued (or whatever it is you call it when the other party wants to get money off you).. All I can say is good luck to them.. we don't have any!
-
Tarkine that really sucks about going to court over his estate. I can't believe how money brings the worst out of some people, it's disgusting.
AJP & Shell, yeah I kinda figured he probably is over-tired, but I never seem to spot that window!
Pinny how did it go last night with no feeding to sleep?
OP, hope you had a decent night last night and she settled down for you  Sorry you didn't get much out of the sleep school.
AFM...well we had a really good night for once! He had his last day sleep (well evening) at 6:45pm and woke up 55mins later at 7:40pm. I then fed him and took a while to settle him back to sleep...finally went down in his own bed (next to me) at 9:45pm, slept til 11:05pm, quick feed, back down in his bed at 11:20pm and not a peep until 2:30am!! Woohoo! lol well it's good for us! Then had another feed, took a little bit to resettle and back down in HIS OWN BED at 3:15am, slept til 4:30am. Fed him, both fell asleep feeding and he woke up at 7:20am. SO yeah, a lot of broken sleep, but it is a lot better than usual and the fact that he slept most of the night in his own bed is amazing! I think that's why I feel a lot better this morning, because I didn't have a hot sweaty baby on me all night  He has just woken up from his first day sleep and is just fidgeting(sp?) in bed. He went to sleep again at 9:15am, so slept for almost an hour!
Sorry for my ramblings and tally on sleeps but I'm just so happy :) Hope he starts to do longer blocks during the night - but I'm happy that last night he got a 3 hour block.
Anyway, I can hear him grunting away, probably trying to do a poo! Back later xox
-
Yay Holly - that's great that he slept better for you!
Tarkine - as if you don't have enough to worry about  Money just brings out the worst in people I think
AFM - we had a sort of good night as Miss J went down at 7pm and didn't wake until 3am. She had a feed but then as she was going back to sleep did a massive poo and woke up so I changed her and put her into bed with me as she wasn't settling. Then she did a huge spew all over me in bed so I had to get up and change. She slept next to me until 6.30am when DD1 came in and yelled at me which woke Miss J up and she started screaming - great! She went down at 9am and has been asleep for 1.5hrs which is unheard of!
-
Holly- Thats great, do you think the meds must be working helping him breath better? Hopefully it continues and he'll start to settle easier and have longer sleeps. It is hard catching that window of tiredness and then if they don't settle they get worse, I know from DD1 she was like L in the day. Barely slept.
Nai- Hope she isn't coming down with somethng, has she had her immunisations recently? I know the rotavirus one can cause vomiting 7 days after? Drives me crazy when the older child wakes bubs, Ash doesn't know the meaning of whispering when she is upstairs near Emily.
Tarkine- Thats awful, I have found death can bring out the worst in some people, I work with aged care patients and you really see family dynamics coming out and which family members actually want whats best for the patient and who is looking after there own interests. If they are taking you to court does that mean you now need to find legal support? Can you get free legal aide if neither of you are working?
Emily did so well last night, she gets really drowsy on her bedtime bottle so easily goes down and if she wakes in the night been settling herself back off after a little grizzle. Last night she didn't want her dreamfeed so she went from 7pm til 4:30 between feeds then slept til 8. Woohoo.
Day sleeps still bit tricky, takes a little while to settle but she is getting less upset and has been doing longer sleeps.
We all still sick tho, snot everywhere here and coughing, poor Emily by early morning sounds like she is drowing in phlegm. I try sit her up alot in the day and tap her back alot to make sure anything in her chest is loostened, don't know if it does anything!
-
OP - darl. I was wondering how you were going. I think you do an awesome job with Isabel. She is not easy with her sleeping and I think you're a really strong mummy!
Shell - Thanks for the 3 days advice. Tried it again last night but it wasn't working  How are you guys going without the dummy? I'm seriously considering ditching it too because I'm up all the time to stick it back in overnight - I think when he stirs in light sleep and can't find it he starts getting noisy.
Holly - Whoohoo on the good night last night!! I really hope this means things are starting to improve for you guys.
Tarkine - That really sucks that its getting all legal. How stressful for you! I wonder why Alex is wide awake in his cot during the day??
Nai - Doesn't it suck when they spew all over you? Some days Jacob does it like 3-4 times and I have to keep changing. So annoying. Especially when it gets down my top and into my bra
Pinny - How did you go last night?
AJP - Well said. I get quite caught up in either feeding or sleeping and it really helps to take a step back.
AFM - He has just woken but was asleep for 1.5 hours and it's nearly 3 hours since the last feed. He's starting to fire up so I'd better go. Happy vibes to all!
-
Lol, when i get vomited on I can't be bothered changing and just mop it up with towel.
-
Snap Shell!! That's great about Emily doing so well without the dummy but not good everyone is sick. Hope you all get better soon.
-
Unless I am saturated I don't bother changing - I don't have enough clothes that fit me! She's fine now and has been happy all day so I don't think it's anything. I am hoping that baby vomit has anti-aging qualities - if so, I will have the best decolletage as Miss J spews down my cleavage on a regular basis
-
Shell - I too think that I *may* ditch the dummy, as I am sick of going back in and putting it back in. Can you please share what you did in regard to settling without it? It seems to have made a big difference to you already.
J is going to stay with MIL for a few days, and I am seriously considering giving it a go then.
-
.. I forgot to mention that if you put mayo in your hair you need to put a showercap on, over the top.
Don't even want to thnk about the legal stuff, just gets my blood boiling when I think about the details.
Nai - whole new beauty product there.. might have to come up with a new name than baby spew.
Kaz - Alex just loves cuddle time - he's a very cuddly baby.
Shell - the money will come out of the estate - as all the exectutors are being sued. I don't think we could qualify for legal aide.. won't even qualify for centrelink, as they will just turn around and tell me to go back to work, which I'm not going to do just yet.. (but you know my thoughts on centrelink - can't stand it - have a bad experience with centrelink when I was in a terrible place in my life and never again)
-
Meg- I hear you about the dummy, I too might get rid of it..
OMG we have had a really good night/day with sleep, I gave L a dream feed at 11pm and he slept to 4.45am:dance: I then co slept with him till 8am!!!! he only feed once while co sleeping so should have put him back in bed but couldn't not be bothered...
Then we had mum's group at our house today, ARHHHH:doh:, some kids are really naughty!!!Trashed my house amd the mum just sat there and didn't correct them....Anyway that's another story will fill you in one day.
Lewis slept the whole time they were here 3 hours:o, I think he was too scared to wake up. I kept checking on him and he slept through the noise, I was happy as i was a bit afraid about leaving on the floor with the feral kids....( one even child lock my house phone & I don't know how to get get off...these kids touch everything!!!)
Anyway he had another slept for 1 hour 20 mins!! So I am very happy must be having a growing spurt!!!
Has anyone elses babies started to watch you eat and lick there lips and pretend to chew??? L started about 3 days ago especially at dinner time as we put him in the highchair that lays back to be with us at the dinner table. DD didn't do it that early...
Packed to the Rafters is on tonight yeah!!!!!
Sorry about the selfish post will try to get back later to do personals....
Holly looks like you had a good night with L too!!! :D
-
Nai - LOL at anti-aging! Why not?
Tarkine - I like a cuddle too!! I don't think J is that cuddly - he's too busy wanting to rubberneck everything and acts more like he's trying to leap out of my arms most of the time :( The only time he snuggles is the late evening and overnight feeds.
Pinny - OMG at those kids! I don't think I would cope well with that :o Jacob has been showing more interest in us eating and drinking but it's hard to tell because he's curious about everything atm. He really loves watching water move around inside bottles and glasses. It's great that L is interested - it could be a copying/mimicing thing rather than a ready-for-solid-food thing though.
AFM - Jacob has been really grumbly today - more so than usual the past week. He has been awake 1hour max today - usually 30-45 mins and then he gets cranky so I've been putting him down. He's just waking up now and it's been his 4th nap today - three were for 1.5-2hours! :o Gotta go.
-
Hi girls,
Way to go on all the sleep Big  to Jacob and Leon doing some extra good sleeping!!!
Quick one from me as I am working out but on a little break. Just thought I would tell you that I got on the floor to do situps tonight and OMG they hurt so much, my abdominal strength has gone, I didnt realise how much until I went to do situps (havent done them in a year)!
Had mothers group at my house as well today (Pinny I cant believe how some of those kids treated your house and the parents did nothing :o I wouldnt have been impressed). It went really well and it was a good excuse to get my house cleaned top to toe the night before.
In case I havent told you in awhile, I am totally in love with my gorgeous little girl, she realy makes my life amazing and I feel so lucky everyday. I am sure all of you feel the same, just some days, I cant get over the way she makes me feel....
Anyway better get back to it. I'm watching top model while I work out, then there is Packd to teh Rafters and All Saints so I dont think I will be able to ahve a shower until 10:30. Tuesday night always has good tv.
Will do some personals tomorrow but Tarkine, big  I cant believe how some people get when it comes to money. I am sorry you are going through this.

Ali- I'm taping Rafters, boy the drag out the aussie top model final don't they, I'm very rapt with outcome tho! Not sure how that whole viewers vote works tho. Good on you with exercise, just do better than I did, I did if for few days and got slack!
Kaz- Maybe a grwoth spurt? They can sleep more than, enjoy the peace while he is!
Pinny- How rude of them, hate parents like that, I wouldn't have them back. Yeah Emily been showing heaps interest, so funny I put food near her face and she opened her mouth and put her hands out!
Tarkine- god they will sue then by the end of it there prolly not be any money left and all the lawyers go off happy, hope you sort it all out.
Meg- with the whole getting rid of the dummy I'd been giving her a bunny comforter for awhile so she'd have something to snuggle. So when I put her down she was automatically looking for her dummy and wasn't impressed, I just had to pretty much pat, rub, stroke her head or rock her on her side (you sort of lie them on there side and then roll back and forth). If she got really upset I'd pick her up, cuddle, and once she was completely calmed try again. She started sucking on her blanket or bunny too. Once she started drifting off I'd stop doing whatever I was doing and if she started again I'd start again. Emily like the rocking on the side the most so guess try and find what E likes and use that. Look it does involve crying but you are there the whole time and I always gave her a cuddle if she was really upset. It has worked well for us, it still varies from sleep to sleep but if she does need help settling its not for long. Hope I've explained it ok.

just heard the news about the lady in WA with the twins - that is incredibly sad :(

Morning mums and bubs,
Very tired this morning, up every hour over night with Isabel. I think its the dummy here too - so I reckon we're going to try and ditch it. I wonder if I'll be able to cope without some sort of comforter? Maybe I should introduce one before getting rid of the dummy.
I was so exhausted, trudging into her room, sticking it back in, wrapping her back up and trudging back to bed. Didn't help that DH and I had a massive blue, then a big "come to Jesus" talk about our finances and work situation, then a big make up session (LOL) so I only got to sleep at like 1am. So tired this morning!
Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement as well. You've all been very supportive, thank you.
Holly - so glad you are finally getting some decent sleep! Maybe that means the medicine is shrinking the growth???
Tarkine - yeah it is very sad. Esp if there was post-natal depression, the poor mum. Also I'm so sorry about your issues with the will etc.
Shell, so proud of how well it is going for you without the dummy. You've inspired us all it seems :)
Ali, we have a group of people over every Tuesday night and I like it for the same reason, it gives me motivation to clean the house! You are so beautiful with Ash! She is one lucky bubba to have such an amazing mum! I read somewhere (might have been FB?) how you're really enjoying being a mum and being at home, good for you. I really hope you can keep it up for as long as possible :D
Kaz - Isabel has been pretty grumpy too. Not sure why. She fed every 2.5 hrs yesterday too, maybe the growth spurt det warned us about?? Isabel is very cuddly at the moment, she snuggles right into my neck, its very cute.
Pinny, that's great about L sleeping a bit better! Not so great about your house being trashed! I don't understand why you some mothers let their kids run amok...
Nai - I'm with you, well I was, until mum observed that I smelled like baby chuck. That's not good!
Also, Isabel has been watching us eat for a while so we started her on some rice cereal about a week ago. She screws up her face (so cute) for the first couple of mouthfuls then opens her mouth and grizzles til she gets some more. I don't have a high chair yet so I had her in the bouncy chair and she was so excited by it she was bouncing herself up and down just jiggling so much. Very cute!
Ok I have said that she is cute three times now!

Came in to post about the bad night we had here but just read your post OP - every hour?? OMG!! I would have gone troppo! You do such an amazing job - it's no wonder that you and DH have some tension in your r/ship at times. It's good that they're cute to make up for tho! Helps a lot.
I think I might have jinxed myself yesterday carrying on about how well he was napping - it didn't really transfer over to last night. On the bright side, patting him to sleep worked for the second time and only took about 20mins and he stayed asleep for 2 hours that go.
Although Jacob is not waking every hour like Isabel, he is really quite unsettled overnight and we have screaming for no discernable reason etc etc. and I think it's hard for DP and I to cope with because he was a reasonably good night sleeper until about a month ago. It seems worse since his shots last week too.
