OP sorry you had a bad night  maybe get a small stuffed toy that can become isabel's comforter, maybe sleep with it for a few nights so it smells like you.
:hide: i quiet like the smell of baby vomit
kaz lots of people say their bubs are more unsettled after shots, so maybe there still upsetting him
-
I think it was a bad night all round last night! OP, yours tops mine so I'm just going to have a mini whinge. Both DDs were unhappy last night so it was double whammy here - DD1 had a pineapple icypole and sucked out all the juice which burnt her tongue as it was too acidic (it was fresh squeezed pineapple juice then frozen) so she won't be having one of those again!
-
 to OP, Kaz & Nai sounds like you girls would be very tired tonight.
OP- YOu are suh a sweetie. I am not looking forward to going back to work. Looks like it will be 1st September for me! 2 days a week. DP wants me to do 3 but there is no way. 2 is going to be hard enough. Glad you and DH sorted things out. We had a huge fight the other day over some jars ofvthings that were in the fridge that had been there for months but I hadnt gotten around to chucking out. We both apologised after but geez we were mad at each other and I know its from lack of sleep.
Jols- PMSL at you loving baby sick smell! I have to say I have been alot more tolerant than I thought I would have been. Maybe because its my own child. I think if someone elses child vomited on me I wouldn't be handling it as well.
Kaz- I have to take Ashlyn to get her shots this week. Maybe I should prepare myslef for bad sleep and lots of grizzles. Hope he improves soon for you.
Nai- I cant believe DD1 wanted a pineapple icicle! Its freezing!!! Kids are funny sometimes. Hope her tongue gets better.
:hello: to everyone else. Hope you and all your bubs are well!
-
 Nai,OP &Kaz
:grouphug: you girls are doing a fantastic job!!
-
-
My gosh it sounds like a few of us had shockers.
THe smell of BF baby vomit doesn't really worry me much either, asi t sort of has a sweet smell about it.
Shelll - OK i might introduce a comfort toy for the next week. I have a little teddy blanket that might do the trick. Get her used to having that, then go for there.
Lst night she went to bed at 8, and settled without the dummy - It took about 15 mins, but I didn't have to go in her room, I could just hear her moving around. She woke for a feed at 3am, and resettled without the dummy. Then J woke her at 6, being really loud, and resettled WITH the dummy, and slept till about 7:30ish. Day sleeps she has had the dummy so far for both day sleeps. So I am going to try and stop using it overnight to start with, then work on the days.
What does everyone think? Will that confuse her maybe?
I also forgot to add, does anyone else walk in to get the bubs, and find them in a completely different position in the cot? E ends up right up the top.
And I also started a boo hoo thread last night about afamily friend who tried to feed E marganire!!!
-
nai awww poor G! hope her tongue is better today!
ali i dont envy you going back to work  thats going to be hard.
meg millie stays still because shes wrapped!
we had a good one last night :hide: asleep at 7pm fed at 5am then slept til 7.15am woke when sophie woke!
ETA have to say im soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo in love with my family!! i could eat my girls!! love them!
-
Well last 24hrs been a test without the dummy cause poor Emily just not well, terrible cold, lots snot and very juicy cough, quite miserable she is. So she taking alot longer to settle but sleeping ok once she is. So over these colds, I am so stuffed up can't breathe.
Meg- It sounds like she is doing well not having to use it all the time, you can always try that way and see how she goes. If she is not needing it all that often she will prolly do well without it.
OP- Hope you have a better night tonight, think I read on FB she is coming down with somethng? That could be why she was waking so much.
Kaz- Hope you have better night too, we had upset episode last night, could be from the vacs? Or could be the 4 month sleep probs, hopefully it was just a one off.
Nai- ow on the tongue! Poor thing, its hard when both girls are upset.
I got my Pandora bracelet today, woohoo, mum has bought it as an early birthday present.
-
shell do you have a vaporiser??
-
No unfortunately. Are they expensive?
-
nah i paid around $40 i think, hippo brand from chemist warehouse! send DF out ot get one tonight!! there open til 9pm, i just use water in it and makes a huge difference
-
$40 is good, i was thinking they'd be up near $100 or something. I told Df your post about going out and he laughed at me! Guess tomor I'll go look. There's one near where I'm going tomor anyways.
-
give him a slap across the back of the head for me
-
Lol I told him thats from Jols, he said 'don't know her'
-
Give him one from me too! I just made DH go out for milk for J, and he went happily. (and bought back ince cream!!)
-
Df already thinks he is great cause I went out today (child free) for 5.5hrs and yesterday for 4hrs, so he'll prolly use that forever even tho he goes out every sat night!
-
lol you guys crack me up!
slap for shells DF from me as well LOL- hope the colds stay get better soon- love the vapourisers here as well!
Hey did everyone see the moon- hmmm explains why our bubs have been unsettled- they should settle down in the next nite or so - hopefully!! DD has just fallen asleep now so it afffects big kids as well as little bubs! The wind and the moon are not our friend when it comes to unsettled bubs!
OP- i miss you!!!! Feel like i havent seen you for ages- only be 2 weeks but it seems like a lot longer- hanging to see you all next week when the kids are back at school!
hugs and every hour. I was 12am finally went down, 3.30am, 4.30am and 6.30 am . I ended up watching a bit of the Michael Jackon tribute- but not by choice lol
The nite before i had 3 hours between DD going to sleep for the nite and DS1 waking for the day!!!! Ho Hum- bring on school!! Whoot on princess starting solids- they are fun hey! Try the Rafferty's garden bananna porridge with her- it tastes yum- i mix it with the rafferty's rice cereal so its half and half- just makes it so its not so runny and a bit tastier. Boof is having a big bowl of it for breaky/lunch as well as a bowl of fruit and then having dinner which is a bowl of vegies and then a bowl of fruit again! He tanks it!
Only hassle is it takes him around an hour to eat each meal- he doesnt stop except to have a drink of water. Have you tried Isabel with a sippy cup yet? Got the Nuby one and its ACE! He loves it esp with cold water in it as he can bite the spout and its soft and nice on his gums. Hugs on fights with DH- having a baby is such a strain- esp when you are sleep deprived- in the light of the day - it will be OK!!! HUGS!!!
Tarkaine- so sorry to hear about the grr and the will- karma will get them!!
AJP- so admire all the baking you are doing. I look at your facebook status and get inspired for a whole 3 seconds and then go nah- lol! I think i am the only person i know that has gingerbread making kits that have expired- the thought is there lolol
Ali- september will come around soo quickly- definately 2 days will be HEAPS! Enjoy the time now !!! I love being home with the kids. Although i was starting to enjoy working again when i was Preggie with boof- i so prefer being at home! I am suppose to be still working- and i am bits and pieces- but got my role now as a delegating position, rather than a managing position.
Megimoppit- whoo hoo to DH for bringing home an ice-cream- i get you with the cot acrobatic. One day i went in there and boof had wedged himself so far up the cot that i thought that he wasnt even in it- my heart skipped a beat for a second until i saw him- he was just sorta blending in the the end of the cot lol
Nai- ouch on DD1 tongue- lol at having an icey pole in winter- my DS1 is the same- he loves icypoles. But then again so do it!!!
Kaz- whoot on the patting working. Hopefully J settles down to sleeping well at nite again soon. Hang in there! I have an acquarium in boof's cot and he loves that on- sends him straight to sleep!
Hugs to everyone else!!
AFM- surviving the school hols- been out heaps - thank goodness boof sleeps anywhere. although the poor thing has grown out of his capsule, but i am suppose to be getting a new car very soon so havent got the car seat put in instead yet, so he is sleeping heaps in his pram when out and about now! He is getting soo heavy- really notice his weight in my arm- i would be surprise if he is close to 10kg now. Still got the 3 rolls on the legs going lol. Have hardly been sleeping- even by my standards. Going to bed at 3am - starting to get dizzy when my head finally hits the pillow as it is so tired - oops. Gotta try and get to bed early!!!! Mind you its nearly midnite now - ah well i guess that is early for me!
time to go- gotta check out my farms in farmtown and then washing and bed!!!
mwah!!!!
-
oh uh shell he will use that against you every time!!!
glad you got some time to yourself though!!!
meg woot on the icecream!!! what sort??
det your a mad women!! id be beside myself going to bed that late! put it this way i know how babies feel when their overtired! cant believe levi is close to 10kg :o millie is almost too big for the capsule too! i have a maxirider for sophie on layby just too lazy to go pick it up!!! that way millie can have her convertable
AFM im seeing pinny mum today and the other girls we were in hospital with!! cant wait
-
Ali - That sucks you have to go back to work soon - a couple of days a week shouldn't be too bad. ikwym about arguing out of tiredness too! I hope Ash doesn't get too unsettled by the shots. No idea if that was it for Jacob - he had them on Wed and started being unsettled on Friday so I dunno.
Nai - I hope your DD is not put off pineapple for life now! I had that acid burn thing. It's horrible.
Det - What do you mean an acquarium in boof's cot? Was that a typo?
Meg - for your dh bringing back icecream!
Shell - So glad you got some kid-free time to yourself! Your Df prolly has had enough slaps from us girls over the vaporiser but next time he does something like that, give him a slap from me! I'll get in early and give you a reserve one to pass on when needed! Hope the vaporiser works. I feel so lucky cause Jacob hasn't had a cold yet (but then I think, he's not developing any immunity either and we live in a very cold climate town!).
AJP - Glad you had a good night darl. Hope they continue for you.
Tarkine - Hi darl! How's A? What are you reading right now? Last night I started reading Dr. Spock  Bought it out of interest when preg and that Baby doco was on telly
AFM - A better night here, although he was awake for over 4 hours in the evening :o I was too tired to care in the end  Finally down at about 9pm, fed at 1am and 6am and then 9am. He needed the dummy reinserted a few other times but there was no screaming thank god.
ETA - last night was his first full night in the cot :( I feel very sad, even though he's only across the hall and it's about 6 paces from my bed to his.
-
wow kaz 4 hours :o awwww its sad when they go into a cot, they look soooo small!
millie had a 1hr40 min sleep this morning them followed that up with a meesly 20 mins :o not impressed
-
Grrr! Just did a big post and lost it
In summary - bad night, bad day sleeps, grumpy baby!
-
seems like were all having bad sleeping day babies!
-
just a quick post!!
Hi to everyone, we are going away for the next few days so won't be around..
Big hugs to everyone...See you when I get back, hope the babies are more settled then. I can't complain about day sleeps L is getting really good at them ,but still not great at night. I'm just waiting for the sleep to promote sleep thing to kick in...
-
Well Miss E has still been doing 40 min day sleeps, so I followed some advice from a friend on another forum I am on, and it worked to a T - Got her down for 1 hr 45 this morn. THen we were out so she slept in the car this arvo. I am hoping that the advice that she has given for the overnight works too.....
I worked today. Good to have the exta $$$.
2 days dummy free now.
I hope everyone has better nights tonight. Don't you wish sometimes that you were rich enough to have a nanny for some respite overnight. Maybe just once or twice a week :)
-
Well after my mini whinge Miss J went and slept for 3.5 hours!!! Next I'm having a mini-whinge about not winning tattslotto
-
Hi girls, quick one from me.
Took DD to get her 4mth vax today, she screamed blue murder but then seemed to be okay. My normal doctor is on 4wks holidays so I saw a male doctor who was fantastic. He was much older than my other doctor but seemed to know his stuff and also was very supportive of continuing to bf and just said a couple of other things that made me think he was very 'new mum friendly'. Just got DD to bed and gave her some panadol.
She is def teething. She's had really rosy cheeks the past 2 days and it is like a fountain of dribble coming out of her mouth!!
I got the Nuby sippy cup today. Might try a bit of EBM in it tomorrow if I can be bothered expressing tonight. Was thinking if she is refusing the bottle maybe I can try that. Even if she just has a play with it might help witht he teething.
Also laybyed a high chair from kmart for her. I got the infa brand (I think its called). $99 down from $179 so a good bargain.
Last night by about 12:30 we were all in the same bed last night. Lucky we have a king size as there was DP, me, bubs and the dogs! All happy families!
Hope you are all well. Will be back later tonight or tomorrow for personals :grouphug:
-
meg so share this trick to get bubs sleeping longer!!!
BBL dinner cooking
-
A friend said she got it from a parenting book. I will go find her post in the other forum and paste it in here. hang on.....
To get back on track with your day time sleeps, keep bubs up for exactly 3 hours and 45 minutes after they wake in the morning before putting them down for their day sleep. E.g. if they get up at 7am, ffeed at 7 then eed them at 10am and put them down to sleep in their cot at 10.45am. Dont let them sleep before then otherwise it will just be a nap.
So that is what my forum friend said, so I gave it a try this morning, and she really did sleep much better.
Nai - Glad she was better this arvo.
Ali - we often all end up in bed together in the mornings (minus the dog though) It is squashy enough with me, E, J and DH!!!
-
:o holy moly 3hrs 45mins :o the longest millie has ever been awake is 2hrs!
-
I know - I said the same thing, and was very sceptical. she said just try it once and see. It should only take the once for her to get used to sleeping longer. I actually found it really easy to keep her up. She played with J, I carried her around for a little, and she had a nice morning. THen she was so happy for the rest of the day.
-
Meg- thats great it works, too bad I can't keep Em up that long she cracks it big time if she is tired. So dummy free working well? I just find it trickier being out getting her to sleep, need to rock the pram a little, also her being unwell can make it hard at times but otherwise once she is asleep she stays asleep alot better.
Ali- I might've missed somewhere is Ash refusing a bottle? Or you getting prepared for when you need to return to work? 2 days is enough, thats what I did after Ashleigh and will again end of Jan, it is hard at first, I cried first day I went back but the extra money coming back in makes a good incentive! Ashleigh refused a bottle and it stressed me, I remember I kept trying every so often and eventually she took it.
Nai- She making up for the bad night! Yeah I'll grumble bout tattslotto too, forgot to get my powerball ticket for tonight.
Kaz- I'm still yet to get Emily into the cot, or even set it up for that matter! She still next to me, makes it so easy but I'm gonna move her soon(ish), once he gets used to his cot he may start sleeping really well and not needing dummy so much.
Det- get early night tonight please! I love school holidays, means I get an extra pair of hands to help around here! Boof is doing so well with food, we're gonna start Emily end month prolly, hope she is better than what Ash was.
Bought my vapouriser today and have it on so hope its doing something good for Emily, its a pretty quiet one too.
Met a friend at McDonalds which worked well, the kids played out on the playground and we could relax and have coffee or whatever.
Emily has really bright red cheeks sometimes in the day too and I wonder if teething, they're so bright, drool and she gnaws on my shoulder.
-
Shell - J&K+8 is on. What are you doing online??!!
-
I don't watch it religiously, usually watch a daytime episode when its on, you know foxtel always replay everything! Df has taken over tv flicking between the cricket and fox sports.
-
holy cow, i cant believe how much ive missed.... i think i sound like a broken record!!
 to all you gorgeous ladies and those beautiful bubbas!!!!
xxxx
-
Kaz - I'm reading the Dali Lama biography, just finished the first two books in the Sookie Stackhouse series (trueblood TV show), Jane Eyre and My sister's keeper (which I'm having trouble getting into). I have books all over the place and pick them up with A is going on one of his sleeping sessions... I'm also writing a book myself, which is keeping my mind occupied.
Shell - put me down for whacking DF over the ears.
meg - 3.45? I might give it a go if i remember.
Ali - that high chair sounds great - we were looking for one that is compact (we don't have any space in our place) - maybe getting one of those that clips onto a table.. dunno.
AFM - just court stuff.. don't want to go into it on an open forum.. lets just say I'm mad beyond belief at the moment. My attitude at teh moment is fight her until there is nothing left in the estate - then she can half of 50 cents!!
-
E is really unsettled tonight, asleep, but crying in her sleep.
Tarkine- I hope the court stuff works out.
-
hi girls- boof just got to zzz and i am buggered so no time for personal
day sleeps are 2 x 45 mins all day everyday here and then he naps from 7ish till he finally crashes for the night between 10pm-12am! so he is doing the 3 1/2 hours in between his naps anyway - just doesnt need alot of sleep during the day- he is happy enough awake and as soon as he shows a tired sign he snuggles in and falls straight to sleep- he is the easiest baby to get to sleep but a bugger keeping him asleep!
by the time i did my jobs last nite it was 2am again b4 i got to sleep grrr
off to the rollerskating tommorow with the kids- going to the 10am session so up and out early -great!
hugs to all mwah
-
Hi girls,
Det, have fun out rollerskating!
Tarkine  hun. Court is never a nice experience, unfortunately I know too well.
Shell how did the vapouriser go? I've been saying for ages I need to get one lol. Sounds like Emily might be teething!
Megie, I might try the 3h45min up thing! Not today though, I've already stuffed it. L woke up at 8:20am and went down for a nap at 10:00am (still sleeping phew!).
Ali lol at squeezing the whole family into bed! Poor Ash, hope she's recovered from her jabs. I was at Kmart the other day and saw those mesh things you put food into and bubs can suck on it...heard they are really good and am going back to get some. I think I'll get a sippy cup too and just bypass the bottles. Good buy with the high chair!
Lol Nai! Are you a regular lotto player? I played once just last week but of course it wasn't meant to be...so that's it for me, not playing anymore!!
Pinny, have a good time away!
Sorry, can't see any further back so hi everyone else!
AFM, L is starting to have more sleep in the days though, however they range from 30mins to an hour and a half and he'll have about 3 of them a day. I'm happy with that! At night, not so good. If we're lucky he will sleep a solid 2 hours but more often than not he just does the small sleeps and wakes for feeds very often like he does during the day.
Last night a nurse from the RCH came by to drop off a breathing/oxygen monitor and explained to us how to hook it up to L. We used it last night and recorded the oxygen levels in his blood while he slept. The hospital will get a pretty inaccurate reading because a)He didn't sleep much, b) I fell asleep feeding him and not sure for how long (oops!) - he was unhooked from the monitor when I changed and fed him...and c) his breathing is a lot better when he's lying on a particular side, and he was lying that side the whole night (I couldn't bear a sleepless night and watch him struggle on his other side, even though it probably would have made the doctors realise how much of a problem it can be). So anyway, don't know what happens now, the courier picked the monitor up this morning, so I guess I just wait? They will probably be wondering what I am complaining about! The monitor showed how "optimal" his breathing was by using a percentage and it was in the 90's most of the night, it did drop down to 70% but not much.
Anyway, better go get stuff done while he's sleeping.
Have a good day and enjoy the weekend girls xox
-
Hi girls, just a quick one
Well done Meg with the day sleeps but 3hrs 45mins :o Although, that is what Jacob is doing in the evenings now - staying awake 3-4 hours and he has slept better at night since he's done that.
Tarkine - Sounds like you have every right to be so annoyed darl. Hope you can distract yourself. What's your book about?
Ali - Hope Ash is ok with the shots! Whoohoo on the cheap high chair.
Holly - I'm sure they won't think you're making it up darl. I really hope it leads to solving Leon's breathing problems.
Nai - LOL at Lotto!!
Shell - You sound like you're doing much better mate. It's good to hear.
AFM - I have been waiting since 9:45am for Jacob to wake up so I can go to mothers group!! I really don't want to wake him because I'm looking after a friends 4 year old this afternoon so he might not get much more sleep but now I'm missing out on some much needed socialising :( He had an awesome night last night - awake until about 11pm but then slept til 3:15am then til 8:15am and now still asleep!!!!
-
Holly - ain't it always the way - you get the machine and then bubs doesn't do what bubs is supposed to, for monitoring.
kaz - How's the 4 yr old babysitting going? Fantastic sleep Mr J! I hear you with the waking up to go to mum's group. book is a crazy ass thing that I'm writing to keep entertained, kinda romance mixed with supernatural, dash of history and plenty of ridiculous .. Love your saying in your signature :D
AFM- forgot to mention that we went back to the mums group on wednesday (have to wait next term for the other group) and Alex had his first real interaction with another baby - they stared at each other and the other baby (4 weeks older than Alex) was chatting away. MIl came over yesterday and I managed to get into the garden for 30 minutes, pruned all but one of my roses - one of our cats decided to sit on one of the bushes while I was pulling out weeds  crazy cat!
