I think DH forgot because he didnt say anything this morning Silly male!
My present from him arrived today (well i have to pick it up at 5pm cause i missed the delivery) but such good timing!! It is an overlocker which i have wanted for ages and ages.
No cake, might buy one when i go pick him up from work.
I have so much to tell you, but whether or not I'll remember it all...
So, we have been in our house for one week now. Everything is pretty well set up now, and I'm so happy with it!
Moving day went very smoothly. The carpet was finished off in the morning, and all the big stuff was moved in by midday. We had lots of helpers - my family, MIL and colleague of DH's. Oliver and I just tried to stay out of the way really. I was a bit worried about how Oliver would go on moving day - not having a place to sleep, or a decent place to feed - but we managed pretty well. When he needed a sleep I popped him in his baby carrier and he'd doze off. When he needed a feed I just plopped down on the floor in the empty old house. If anything, Oliver was better than usual cause there were so many people around showering him with attention . I also got out of cleaning the old rental (thanks Oliver ) - my mum and MIL did it.
Over the past week I've been setting up the house - and it's all done now, except for the spare room which is a mess. It was so nice when we started hanging pictures up - no having to ask the owner's permission, because we are the owners!!!
I have plenty of photos of the house, and I'll get them on BB tomorrow so you girls can have a look!
What else??? Oliver is rolling over again, still from tummy to back. He did it for the first time at 3.5 months, and did it quite a bit for about a week, then stopped. I thought maybe he'd forgotten how to, but he has started to do it again. His technique is a little different this time, and seems to work a bit better, lol.
And raspberries... OMG, all day long he blows raspberries! He worked out how to do it about a month ago, but has recently become obsessed with blowing raspberries. The second night we were in this house he woke up at 5am and just lay there in his bed in the dark blowing raspberries - funny boy .
Oliver has adjusted to the new house beautifully. He has a nice play corner in the lounge room, and he has his very own bedroom here (though he still sleeps in our room). Also, he had been in the bassinet, and now that the cot can fit in our bedroom we thought we'd move him to the cot (especially since he barely fits in the bassinet now). I thought, "Right, I'll devote a few days of trying to move him to the cot", cause I figured he'd be confused by a different bed... but I shouldn't have worried. One day in the last week he was lying in the cot while I made the bed. He looked sleepy, so I thought I'd see if he went to sleep. I tucked in the blankets, gave him his dummy and sat with him - 5 minutes later he was asleep, and he's been sleeping there ever since, no problems!!!
Since we've moved we've also finally set up the baby monitor, and it is soooo good! I put him down for a day sleep, switch the monitor on and go about my business without feeling like I have to check on him every 5 minutes. I've been able to get so much done this way - I don't know why I didn't have it set up earlier. Oliver has also started going down for his long sleep earlier (8.30-9pm), which means DH and I have actually had some evenings to just hang out! On Friday we had friends over for tea, and Oliver went down about 9pm, so we managed to play a board game and chat unintterupted - it was nice, I'd forgotten what it was like!
The only downside of his going down to sleep earlier is that he wakes at 3am for a feed, whereas before (when he was going down for the night at 11pm) he'd sleep through to 6 or 7am. I think he might be having a growth spurt as well though, cause he's been waking at 3am, 5am and 7am for a feed, and has been sleeping more than usual. We have a check-up on Monday, so we'll see.
I've been following you all the best I could over the past week, and noticed you've all been talking lots about starting solids - how exciting! I can't wait to start Oliver, but am planning on holding out till 6 months unless he makes it seem like he wants to start earlier, which is possible - he's recently started taking quite an interest in food. I'll have to make sure I have the camera on hand for those first few spoonfuls and funny faces being pulled - "What on earth is this stuff Mum!"
I'll try and do personals soon, but for now it's quite late - so I'm off to bed. Goodnight .
Hey girls. It seems that the BB gallery isn't working, so I've added photos to FB instead - the album called "Our House". Peach, I know you're not on FB, so I'll PM you a link to the pics another way soon if you like .
Sterla: OMG LOVE the house...and oli's b'room crutions are CUTE...i want them.
AFM: i've got a bloody cold! hopefully daz wont get it...but for the first time in like 3 years i felt like i'd been hit by a truck when i woke up (to feed daz who slept though for the 2nd time and scared the pants offa me! haha) and guess what? i couldnt *not* get up 'cus DH had to work, cus a stoopid guy he works with (who split with his DP about 4 months ago...because he's 30+ and acts like an 18 y/o with cars even though he has two kids!) DH had to go in (6am-12) to do the work he should have been doing! (so i was veeeeeeeery grumpy!)but after daz went back to sleep (in bed with me) from 6am till 9:30 i was not as bad which was good 'cus daz went to his first 'birthday party' last night. a cousen of mine had his 40th birthday (it was a 60s-70s theamed one...he was a pimp! haha) he has a good night after getting an shock with the loud music...he was fine. he even semi dressed up (we put him in little jeans!) and DH and i dressed up (DH looked like Hari Chrisha guy!) we had a good night all in all though (even though my cousen got mainly bunnings gift cards haha but next time i see him im getting him jelly! haha) when we got home i gave daz a bottle (he'd ad 250ml all up while out..) he took another 150 and fell sleep...so i put him in bed with DH and i...and he didnt wake up at all, it was really cute! today we slept right in (well i got up three times and coughed my lungs up...but DH and Daz both slept though it!) and just had a quiet one. tomorrow is the phyiso (im not going to go back to her 'cus she's a d1(khead. and i CBF'd worrying about how daz is developing (AAAAAnd i dont really wanna get into a fight with her :eyeroll: ) and MG and im seeing my old highschool teacher this week and another girl i went to high school with! so it'll be fun!
i better hopp to it and go get dinner before daz gets cranky!
Welcome back Sterla!!! Great to hear from you and very happy to hear the move went well and your enjoying your first house! Id love to see pics
Blip- Glad the 70's party was fun.
Antheia- How was the rest of your birthday? Did you end up having cake?
Moose- How are you and Sammy?
Sorry Girls Im sooooo exausted had maybe 9 hrs sleep all up the last two nights together so this is short but wanted to say hello
peach poor thing i hope you get some more sleep tonight!
Ooo i is very, very proud of myself - i just made some baby food. all nice and fozen in zip lock bags! (our ice trays have ice - from when i was UTD and making ice'd RLT lol) so now i've started im going to keep going! haha i've got pumkin and apple, so im thinking i'll get some carrot and maybe some sweet spud tomorrow and make some more! (this is going to be FUN!) even though we're holding off untill 5.5months (or 6 depending on daz!) it'll be good to have some suplys waiting! its funny but its reminded me *why* i love cooking - because its all about othere people enjoying it. something i think i'd started to forget!
Quick one again for me. Sammy has started solids morning and evening now. We tried pumpkin and OMG she LOVED IT! It was awesome! She is still waking up heaps at night and I just don't understand WHY?? but hopefully it will slow down soon. Dh has been great in helping me with nights as we try not to feed her when she wakes up at 12am but its hard if I do it as she can smell my milk. DH on night shift the next couple nights, should be interesting...am preparing myself for big tantrum. Went to my SIL baby shower yesterday, she is due on the 8th of July and lost her mucous plug yesterday! She was dilated 2 cm and bubba very engaged..so any day! We had a bal at the shower. I have also organised myself a girls night out this coming Saturday. Dh is staying home with Sammy and I will be going to a Bollywood themed restaurant, with lots of wine involved! Can't wait!
We also found out that DH 's work is being relocated and instead of being 15 minutes from work, he will now be 1.5-2hrs in traffic which SUCKS! so we are looking at all alternatives but may move as its not fair to ask him to drive 3-4 hours after a 12 hours shift so I can stay close to the ocean..so we will see what happens.
Sammy is screaming murder and not wanting to go down for her sleep, better check on her. BBL for personals
Blip: Well done on getting goin on the food...bear in mind that you can only keep them frozen for 3 months only so don't stock up too much
I made Sam's pumpkin and will be making sweet potato and carrot this week too. I want to wait and see what she likes best. Hope you have fun with meeting your friend today
Sterla:the house looks AWESOME and so does Oli. They are all growing so fast eh? I can't wait to put pictures on the wall without having to worry about losing your bond! Is MG starting this week for you?
Peach: Is Winter having issues sleeping as well? I really thought solids would be making them sleep through at least til 4-5am..maybe she has just gotten in the habit since the growth spurt..She is now awake more during teh day as well, 2 hours instead on 1.5 hours.
Antheia: Hugs to you as I think your DH is leaving today? How is Orson & you still have to tell us about the SupernannY!
Raver & PJ: Hope you guys are still around and well, we miss your updates too!
Oliver woke at 2am for a feed, and I noticed that he'd left a wet patch on his sheet - he'd wet through all his clothes completely, so I had to change him completely and put him up the other end of his cot. Then he woke again at 6am for a feed and had wet through again (not as bad this time), so he had to have a full change, again.
DH missed his bus, so I had to drive him into the city, all the while knowing I still had to feed Oliver before his MCHN check up at 9.30am. Halfway home I realised that DH had the house keys (we hadn't had any extra copies cut yet). I completely panicked, then realised I didn't even have my mobile with me, so panicked even more. Luckily, my Dad has a copy of our house key from when he was painting, so I drove to his house. I knocked on the door many times, but no answer. I knew where their spare key was, so I got Oliver out of the car and went round the back - but their back door was open. I went inside, but Dad wasn't anywhere. Eventually, I saw him outside and he came in. He gave me the key, and by this time it was already 9.30pm and Oliver was after a feed. So, I fed Oliver there, and finally, by 10am I finally got to my MCHN appointment. Phew!
Oliver has only put on 140g in the past fortnight, but he's also grown 1.5cm - so it's all good. Another growth spurt in length. He's now 6.94kg and 66cm long .
Moose: That's so great about Sammy starting on solids, and loving pumpkin! I'm really looking forward to starting Oliver on solids!
Ooh - girls night sounds good! I haven't had a proper girls night (as in, minus Oliver) since before Oliver was born. Still, I'm a bit reluctant to leave Oliver for any length of time - the longest I've left him is half an hour, and he's always screaming by the time I get home. I don't think Daddy has the magic touch that mummy does . Wow about SIL!!!
Blip and Moose: Thanks about the house . We're very happy with it!
Antheia: Hope you're holding up okay.
My MG starts next Monday - sooo close, yet so far, lol.
moose: thats a bugger about your DH's work! as for sammy and waking up - maybe she's hungry? i know daz is still waking up at around 12:30am and then again around 5:30-6am. it could also be developmental - from what i've read they can wake up and rather then settle back down they want to practice crawling/rolling over! as fort the food - its in portion sizes! hehe and i've made what i like to eat - so it looks like its getting near the 3month mark i'll munch it down! eheh. (plus i dated it and all...i guess i had to use my comecal cookery skills at some point LL )
sterla: wow sounds like a crazy, stressful moring! as for Oli wetting though what nappys are he in? i've got daz in the baby love ones - crawler (6kg - 11 i think it is...) and they're pritty good...so are the huggies infant ones (we get what ever is on specal...just dont use the woolies 'select' ones they're a little iffy...) although sometimes i think maybe they pee too fast for the nappy and it just spills out! haha...im glad oli is growing! YaY for growth sperts! i think daz is having one...he's on in 0's! as for the party - we didnt take any pics...i think my sister may have...i'll have to poke around and find out!
AFM: i've been reminded again WHY i hate profenals! stupid phyiso telling me daz needs to have "load bearing exrsizes" so he can control his arms and legs better...and telling me his jerky movments shouldnt be like they are...ohh and he needs to use both hands...umm HE DOSE...at home...he clearly hates her :P my smart man can happily put his dummy in his own mouth thank-you! and as for useing both hands, he often will, just not with her rolling him around. he'd much rather chew on his hands...but this women didnt like it when i told her "but they choose which hand will be domoant in utro, so we kind of cant change that..can we?" whoops i guess that 'new mum' sign isnt always ON or i just ignore it. thus we are NEVER seeing this women again. if she makes an appt im calling in "sick" sorry...just like the pead, one more vist to shut 'em up and thats it! bwahaha... but other then that he's fine ohh well...he has a cold the poor thing...snuffly nose and all...the poor mite, but he's ok! now...to go and do some washing...
sterla: aww have you tried a bath with some massarge after it? or (this may sound odd) but straddleing oli over your knee with his head against your chest patting his back/bum or rubbing his back? that puts daz off to sleep - cus some times we get some stubborn wind happening...
