Thanks ladies in regards to my Granddad - hopefully he remains with us for a little while yet, but they do pick the strangest times in our lives (well for me anyway) to come into this world.

Hi all, i have been laying low as i had a very hard labour and i'm still suffering from it all now with me not being able to pee :( but i'm now ready to start talking again.
Our little boy was born on his EDD the 30th of jan at 11.53pm weight 3320 birth length 50.5 birth head circ 34.5.
He is just so beautiful i just wish i could enjoy him more it's hard when you can't pee or know when to :( it's getting me so down.
colestar i'm sorry to hear about your granddad, it's such a blessing when bub's is around in time to spend special time with our relatives like that, it'll stay with you forever, and hopefully he'll be around for a while yet to see her grow with you too
Gabberqueen ouch! Are the docs doing anything to help you in the peeing department or is it just something you have to wait out? Hope you get better soon, you've had a few weeks already suffering you poor thing!
I was wondering how the ladies who had c-sections were going with their recoveries? Like what are we mostly at, 2 to 4 weeks in now, how's your lifting and bending and mobility going? And do you have the same bleeding after for a few weeks or the no sex for 6 weeks rule?
I've fallen prey to my tailbone pain once again, doh! And my back spasms when i bend over, but i didnt have a back labour? Oh, and stupid me thought i had survived without stretch marks, pffft, now that all my excess fluid and preggo belly is gone, the marks are appearing, damnit! But it's good to feel thin again, even if my belly hasnt shrunk completely yet, and not feel like i weigh a million tonnes on my feet too hehe! I do miss my belly though ;)
Great news! hubby has scored a local job! So now he'll be home permanently! Already his mother has expressed her disapproval at his moving back up here full time, and instructed him to not allow me to interfere with his job or his money (hello we share a daughter and a mortgage), he had her on speakerphone, gotta love mother-in-laws, on the other hand, his dad couldnt have been more happy things are working out for us at last! So he starts new job on friday, i'm so happy finally we get to be normal family again :-)
Elly had her first screaming nightmare day yesterday, didnt want to interrupt hubby's job interview by excusing myself for a breastfeed so i tried to make her hang on for a while, but the blokes just kept on and on talking for so long! (and they tease us women about talking) elly got so worked up and over hungry and over tired that she couldnt even latch on for so so so long, took hours before she calmed down properly poor thing, in the end it was the bath that did the trick, settled her enough to feed, and she was so exhausted she slept nearly the whole night thru! I wont be making her wait for feeds again, i've learnt my lesson!
Ok i'm out, it's middle of the night, and i really need sleep, take care girls!
Phynna - that's great news about the job!!! Your MIL sounds like a piece of work!
Had a visit from maternal health nurse yesterday, Vaeda has gained 280g this week, so proud of her! Also had another session with LC, doing better this week definitely but still not quite there, I'm sure we'll be going great in another week or so. My milk has come in super strong, gets a bit too much for her sometimes, it just pours out and we both end up slippery and sticky.
Anyway sounds like it's time to feed her again!!
Vin - Great news on V putting on 280g! We have our visit today and I am hoping Luka has put on weight as well. It has been over a week, so surely he will have :crossfingers:!
Phynna - I think it is great that your dh will be working close to home. So much less pressure for you and he gets to share all of the important milestones with you in Elly's life! As for your MIL, OMG, I agree with Vin that she sounds like a piece of work. Good luck with her chickee, sounds like you need it!
Gabber - Sounds like you are having a rough time of it. Please feel free to talk to us at any time, this is what we are here for. I hope things pick up for you soon, maybe talking to someone professional might help? It is not for everyone, but if you have had a traumatic deliver it might help.
Liminal - My two girls were different in dropping night feeds. DD1 dropped her 2am feed at 6 weeks and DD2 didn't drop it until 4 months. Let's hope Luka is a bit more like DD1 in that department! :D
Colestar - We are happy with the pics as well, but have only just seen a few or a sneak peak as she says. She is just getting into baby photography, so we are helping each other out in a way.
Smithy - Hopefully you are feeling a bit better with a bit of sleep? It is hard getting your head around. My dh has been doing all the night feeds. He gets up and doesn't wake me, I am sleeping through and not even hearing Luka through the night. How that works I have no idea, I am just putting it down to being really tired and my body being in recovery mode. I am going to miss him so much when he goes back to work. Maybe we might win lotto and he can stay home with us for a while longer :lol:!
Neenee - Your nurse sounds a bit preoccupied? I think if it is concerning you then get it checked, but if you are happy with her opinion all is good. We are seeing ours today as I said, I have taken my older kids to this particular one before and found her very old school. It will be interesting what she is like today!

My recovery has been better than I expected Phynna...
I'm not lifting anything or having sex- LOL, but my bleeding has nearly stopped and I can wander around the shops for a couple of hours without getting tired :lol:
Some people say that u can hit a wall at 4-5 weeks with your recovery.
I'm just over 3 weeks, so fingers crossed that doesn't happen to me

Karamine - dont be to concerned with bubs weight, when they are weighed frequently within a few days, a small loss can be because of a bowel movement or not recently being feed, only big losses are of concern, its usually best to judge it over a couple of weeks when they are newborn and over a couple of months later on. DD was so petite and put weight on so slowly but my CHN assured me that she was wetting nappies, developing and was happy and healthy so it didnt matter how much weight she put on. She's 21mth now and only just hit 11kg.
Poo's - has anyone experience the number 3 yet? :lol: DD1 was the worst for it, she would go days (which is perfectly okay, especially for bf babies who can go up to 10) and then let rip with the explosion, taking with it everything in its path. When it had gone a couple I would prepare and have everything covered in old nappies, when I heard the onset it was a mad dash to the changetable where I would strip all her clothes off her bum as fast as possible. :leap:
Gabber - Hugs to you, sorry to hear you are still having problems, I hope it picks up for you soon. Did they say how long it can take before its better?
Vintrar - Chloe and Vaeda really sound like they are distant twins, lol. Chloe is such a pig she sucks away like crazy, gets a gob full and chokes on it too, sending milk spewing everywhere. I learnt with DD1 to get a burp cloth and tuck in into my bra underneath my boob to catch all the mess. The worst thing was putting yourself back together at the shops after a feed only to discover the little piggy had spilt milk all over your bra and top and you had to walk around with wet patches :doh:.
I finally got around to getting Chloe weighed yesterday (12days), she hadnt been done since she was 4 days, naughty me, she has put on 500gm the little porka and another 2cm in length. I look at her now at 4.5kg and 58cm and she doesnt look like a newborn, people keep asking how many weeks she is and I say how many days and get the ooohh big baby.
She has been feeding well every 3 to 4 hours but gone a bit silly on my left side all of a sudden, just have to keep taking her off and reattaching her so she doesnt hurt me. She's spending ages awake during the day now, her favourite is starring into the toy mirror on her mat, but if she is awake for awhile I need to help her back to sleep already before she gets overtired.
She got a free photoshoot done on Tuesday too, I was contacted by a lady who needed new photos for her website, I'll get 3 free prints. They photos that I saw were real nice, hopefully we get some good ones. I am on a roll with free photoshoots, got one done while I was pregnant to. Maybe a family shoot is next lol.
Well I better get back to the housework, lots to do.

Colestar - Sorry to hear about your Grandfather. A couple of days after Nao was born we found out my Gran has been given six months due to cancer. Its horrible. :(
Phynna - Congrats on your hubbys job. :) Probably ignoring MiL will be good. They say some weird stuff sometimes.

I find with Bf'ing that the initial latch hurts and then everythings fine. Do you guys know what this is about? I'm so clueless when it comes to this stuff.
Just a quickie girls ... Luka put on 520grams since last Tuesday, we might be moving up in nappies as well. Considering he is leaking out of newborns and we have not even made it through one box, he must be growing really quickly! Everything else was great, got some reassuring words in regards to feeding so I am feeling a lot better with all of that side of things now!
I know what you mean Study about looking at bubs and feeling like you are losing your newborn already. They grow way 2 quickly!

Hope all are doing well, its rather hot here today and so the air con is on and blasting to make sure none of us die from heat exhaustion.
GabberQueen - The no pee thing is not good - hopefully your feeling better soon. I have suffered all my life with kidney problems and they were worried I would go into renal faliure with this pregnancy but thankfully not even an infection...
Smithy - Anything to help another Mummy sleep - it was something my rather hippy mother told me to do - as I was the same as a baby and she is against drugs and all that. Glad to hear that lil Charlie is growing too :)
Phyn - AWESOME news on the mans local job - its always nice to have them around and to have him be able to be home to spend time with Elly
I was wondering in regards to awake time - does anyone here know when this starts? As after 2 feeds one in the morning and one in the evening (usually around the time Daddy comes home) she stays awake for at least half an hour before going back to sleep - call me mad but I have no idea about these things???? I was hoping it was normal
kazaraz - Thats awesome about the baby photography, I am a photographer by trade and I am going to attempt with a friend next week to do some of Jayde, before she gets too big...Good news with Luka putting on all that weight it excites you to learn they are growing
I am with you ladies the more I look at her - the older she looks - she is slowly loosing all the newborn things...though the poor dear isn't going to have hair for a while yet
Emma - your recovery sounds pretty good! I've been reading a book about baby's first 6 months, written by a lady who had a c-sect, and while she doesn't go into details too much about her own recovery, she has made it out to sound truly horrible, hence why I was so curious!
Colestar - awake time, Elly seems to be awake early morn about 7ish, mid-morning about 11ish and night again about 7ish, all for 30mins to 1 and half hours. Very wide-eyed and alert! Pity her feedings arn't so regular haha!
Kaz & Smithy - while you ladies are moving up in nappies, we're cutting Elly's cloth nappies in half still to fit her! A few people have suggested using face-washers!
Studymum - I think your number 3's are what we've been calling poo-explosions! Hubby took us to his job interview, and there Elly decided on arrival it was poo time, so while he went up to the house (farm job) to see the bloke, I'm there at the boot of our wagon about to open the hatch up, and feel this ooze on my hand, call out to hubby, and he confirmed it, she'd exploded all out of her nappy leg and escaped the fluffy-cover and oozed it all down my top! LOVELY stuff!!!
Smithy - hun I hear ya on the lack of sleep! Last night it was hubby hogging 3 quarts of the bed while Elly and I were squished to the side (yes, she co-sleeps) and me rolling him back to his side every half hour or so, drove me insane! That went till 4am, then fell asleep, at 6am Elly decides to take over the keep-mum-awake campaign with hourly feedings and nappies till 11am! Finally got sleep on the couch for a few hours after that. Night before it was the heat 38degrees here, then feel asleep about 4am again, and Elly started her fussings and nappies, not so much the feedings that morning. It's fun and games!!! I just wish when we went out somewhere hubby would remember when he says "can you drive, I'm tired" that I've only got half the sleep he has :doh:
So hubby starts work tomorrow and boy am I glad to get the house to myself for a few hours! Get some organisation around here again! Post-birth my energy levels are rapidly rising, and I'm getting my cleaning back! Well, in between baby business that is. But having hubby to clean up after too, is more than a full-time job some days!
By the way girls, did you hear the good news, after such a frustrating wait, TTC has had her bubs! A teeny tiny 2.5kg little girl!
Phynna - just quickly on the topic of c sections, I was going to reply and never got there. I am feeling relatively 'normal' as well. I think it took me until 2 and a half weeks for my belly not to hurt when I coughed, sneezed, got up and down off of the couch of or out of bed. Apart from my complications with my wound opening up this time, I am feeling ok. I have never had any real dramas from c sections though. Delivered around 4am with DD1 and I was up walking around by lunch time. DD2 was a bit longer, but not from the pain, but because I was vomiting from the morphine they put in my drip. This recovery was initially slower, I did not want to get out of bed. But I had a hard deliver due to scar tissue and Luka not wanting to come out, plus I blame my age on it a bit as well. As for the bleeding, I am barely there now. I found that it lasts about 6 weeks from the girls. Too scared to lose the pads at this stage, just in case I have an accident when out and about. Hope that answers your question. I guess its like natural child birth in a way, people have good and bad experiences.
Great news about TTC, she was a teeny tiny little one.
Colestar - Night feeds seem to be our worst, Luka is a up and party dude from midnight on. Last night we tried everything to settle him and in the end gave him another bottle (2 hour gap) and a shower. He loves the shower and goes to sleep pretty quick when in there. We are waiting for him to get some type of routine, but it is yet to happen. I think once DH goes back to work things will work better. Even though I don't want him to and I love having him help, things just flow better when he is at work. I am hoping our night owl gets his days and nights worked out soon!
Best be off. I have things to organise. THinking about getting MIL to look after the kids on Sunday so I can take DH to the movies to see Avatar which he has been busting to see. I am ok to leave the girls, but having issues leaving Luka. They look after their other grandaughter and she is 1 and a half and a lot more demanding (and really rough) and I am stressed about it. So unless we take him with us I will just give it a miss. Not sure what to do?
Kazaraz - Maybe take him, do your cinemas have the baby rooms? Though even if they didn't, I'd take him anyway.
Took Nao to get weighed yesterday, she'd put on 200g since monday. So I feel a bit silly for worrying now, but do feel better.
PHYANNA... just want to give you a big hug hun from one non sleeper to another :hug::hug: we'll be rite chicky babe im sure lol..i cried and cried all morning im just so tired then dh says what can i do babe :o YOU HAVE TO ASK ME GRRRRR... coops wont give charlie a bottle just yet hi says im to scared :rolleyes: YEH WELL IM TOO TIRED PMSL...
but i do feel better this arvo just wish charlie would sleep as well at night as she does through the day .

May I join this group? Ryder was born 26th Jan. I was in the Jan 16-31 belly buddies group so I know some of you from there.
Is anyone else bottle feeding? I tried to breastfeed but my supply also dried up within 1.5 weeks. I don't really mind though because this way DH can take some of the feeds. Ryder is sleeping pretty well, we have our bad nights but on the whole its been good so far. I think bottle feeding also makes baby last longer till next feed.
Anyway, looking forward to sharing this journey with you all :) I hope everyone is going ok with their new bundles.

Welcome Malia - I am also bottle feeding my little one, my milk only just came in and Jayde had serious sucking issues so I decided that it was best for her to have the bottle to get what she needed (as she was having low blood sugar levels) and I have played trial and error with formulas and bottles and finally found one that suits her - look forward to hearing more from you
Jayde had a bad night last night. She got quite overheated poor little dear and was quite upset - so we stripped her down and put her in nappy and singlet and got a cold cloth and put her under the fan on the bed and eventually the poor dear fell asleep...But wakes up at 12 for feed (this is usual) and 4am - well instead of going back to sleep she decided it was awake time - poor Daddy (as he had to go to work)
Hope all are well and Bubs are treating all as well as they can <3
