I bottle fed Munchkin and to a degree I miss it. DH used to do one of the night feeds so I'd get a bit extra block of sleep. (He's a night owl. lol) But now its all me. I know he misses it too.
Nao kept me up til about 3am last night and then Munchkin woke before 8am. Nao fed at 530ish too. And Munchkin wouldn't go back to sleep lol. Has been a looong day, but atleast it was a weekend so I got a longish nap in this afternoon.
Im pretty sure anyone with a newborn doesn't know what its like not to be tired. Haha.

Smithy I love your agro!!!!! Oh boy, oh boy am I screaming that in my mind everytime hubby tells me to be the driver coz HE's too tired! Ironically I don't mind driving, tired or not, just his comment makes me wanna scream!!:
And too scared, similar here with hubby, he doesn't put the nappy covers or pants/shorts back on bubs because he's "not very good at that" :shakehead: there's only one way to get good hunny! Haha, I should write somethings down and post them to that Mere Male section in the women's mags, so funny!
Oh I got another "mere male episode" happen today.....I asked him if he thinks we should go on contraception for a while or just leave it to chance (ask him periodically to see if his opinion changes) and he says "well I think it's a very good idea" hmmm, rather pointed tone of voice I think, so ask him why "well it'd be good to have at least 6 months in between kids" I tell him that I can GUARENTEE him that contraception or not! How he asks? "well sweetheart, pregnancy is 9 months long!" "Oh yeah that's right!" he says!:clap: Gotta love em!!!!!
OWWWWWW Kaz you poor thing for it opening up! How did that happen? I would've been terrified! Did you have to get re-stitched? Owwwwww! That's amazing with your first, walking by lunchtime same day, superwoman!!!!! You must have had either really GREAT painkillers or really STRONG core muscles!:
Elly had her 2-wk post-natal today! She's put on 4 ounces this week, now up to 6 pound 6, and grown 4cm to 53cm tall! She's going to be tall like her daddy all right! 4cm in one week! She's also been spoilt rotten this week, new chrome pedestool fan, about $200 worth of 00000 & 0000 clothes & toys, new sling! Gave the midwife a good laugh when I told her that when she reassured me that I was getting an "average sized" baby thinking I was worried about pushing a big bubba out, I was asking about clothes size! So we've got hardly anything to fit her! Even the 0000 all swim on her, such a skinny thing, so they'll last for a while yet. She'll be really tall and lanky, and be teasing me and my lil 5ft stature when she's a teenager! Least I won't have to worry about her borrowing my jeans, they'll be ankle-freezers!

Jayde had a pretty good night - just had some wind early in the evening but thankfully DH and I got to it right away and after a nice bath and a drive to watch some fireworks she calmed right down. I swear you walk around during the day in a state of daze.
Smithy- Its true, I always wonder about the ladies up feeding there bubs and how they are going, thankfully the olympics are on (and I am tradgic for them) at unfaithful hours so I watch them whilst feeding her
Phyn - Awesome news about lil Elly (well not so little anymore) putting on weight it for some reason gives me a smile cause I know that I must be doing something right when I find out that she is putting on weight. Jayde has the same sized feet as a 3mth old they are HUGE like her fathers, I am tall as well so I am expecting a tall child but her feet are amazing. What kinda sling did you get? I went out and brought a peanut shell (was lucky to get it on special) and it was the best thing I brought. Jayde doesnt like the pram much as she moves about all the time and it wakes her where as the sling she is all balled up and quite happy about it. Same thing with Jayde I was told she would be a big baby - so I went and got a heap of 0000 and 000 things haha OK no...I had to get DH to go and get 00000 as she is long and skinny especially in the legs - she has put face fat on but thats about it.
Men are quite funny with the little ones. DH feeds her during the day whilst I am napping on the weekend when he is home and he does both evening feeds which is a massive help as it allows me to get things ready.
Little Jayde is 3 weeks exactly today - still cant believe it, and as she is growing she is loosing her newborn looks slowly :( We cant believe her movement - which is of concern as DH crawled at 3-4 mths URM NO thanks haha we put her on the ground on her tummy - for tummy time and she is moving with her arms and legs all over the mat - and is holding her head up for a while...
OK ... so I kind of feel bad in saying that Luka is feeding around 11 and 1, then sleeping through to about 6am! OK, spoilt I know. He seems to cluster feed at midnight, but then he is either worn out from being awake and feeding in the middle of the night, or has just gotten himself in to a routine to sleep through. I am sure it will change, nothing good lasts forever! Other than that, he is going between 3 and 4 hours between feeds and sleeping solidly between feeds. Tonight he is a bit unsettled, we went out for lunch so I am thinking he might have copped a bit of wind.
Bottle feeding - A few have you have been chatting about this and we are bottle feeding as well, karicare gold is our formula of choice. We used it for both girls as well and it works for us!

Smithy & Phynna - Hopefully your little ones get themselves into a better routine soon and you guys get more sleep! Normally around 6 weeks they are pretty well and truely sorted and even if your lucky, drop a feed in the middle of the night. The nurse told us don't even try for a routine for the first 2 weeks as babies have no idea. I don't know, I just think they are all different and sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't! Definately had it easy with DD1 and so far Luka ... not so much with DD2. She was our hard baby but lucky she is so cute and we love her to bits. Easier to deal with!
Colestar - We are also amazed at Luka and his head movements. He actually will raise his head to look at you and then flop down as he just does not have the neck support. He is also chatting a little, omg, so so cute. Especially the little noises he makes just before he sneezes! These babies never stop amazing us ... so great!
Kamarine - We have a movie date Friday night and my MIL is coming to watch all three kids. The girls will go to bed so she will just have bubs to concentrate on. It is so hard leaving them so young, but in saying that I really want to see Valentine's Day and my dh brought us tickets. Yay! Also congrats on Nao putting on weight, that is great!

Kaz - Vaeda does the most adorable little sigh whenever she's finished sneezing, it just makes me melt!
Not much to report here actually, I'm sure you're all in the same boat - every day is the same, feed sleep feed sleep feed sleep haha the days are really getting away from me and I haven't gotten around to actually doing anything for ages. I have been watching A LOT of TV since I spend so much time on the couch breastfeeding, and there has been an influx of cooking shows (love them - omg can't wait for the SA ep of My Kitchen Rules tomorrow!!).
Vaeda is almost getting into a routine, it's not exact, but usually feeds at about 2am then 6am, with lots of feeds all day, cluster feeds around lunchtime and dinnertime (very inconvenient). We are looking into getting a breastpump soon, want to give her a bottle maybe once a day, so that I can go back to work for a couple hours a day.
All in all we are going really well, just tired. Clint and I are in awe of her, she is just so beautiful and special, and I already wish I was pregnant again (even though I felt crap my whole pregnancy). Love being a mum!
Vin - my dh and I are so looking forward to the SA version of My Kitchen Rules as well. They have bagged every team, so kinda hoping they royally make a big mess of their turn! :lol:

Having some time before Jayde decides she is done sleeping and is ready for a feed again...I am trying hard to push her through til midnight for a feed as then she sleeps right through til 5 and that is so much better then waking up halfway through the night...so far its working...although she decided at 5am this morning everytime she went to sleep she was going to wake up half an hour later...
DH and I were brave enough to leave her with my parents for 2 hours whilst he took me on a romantic dinner (well what we use to do when we first got together) Pizza on the back of the ute watching the waves (even though it was overcast) that was strange both of us agreed...it was odd being without her or not being disturbed halfway through a meal...but it was good for me to be without her, as it was the first time I had done that.

Sorry I've been MIA.
We're also bottle feeding, S26 Gold is our formula of choice.
Seems to be working well, as Zoe has put on a decent amount of weight, she's 4.18Kgs... at birth she was 3.3, then went down to 2.9- so she's done really well.
I'm also spoilt with the sleeping, she feeds at 10, then wakes between 4 and 5am.
But then she wakes at 8am and is up for awhile....
I'm lucky that DH usually gets up for the 4/5am feed :D
I loooovvvvveeee my sleep.
Although there is always a downside, she doesn't sleep much during the day.
I'm also amazed at Zoe's movements and how she can hold her head up!
She just seems to be growing so fast!!!
Is anyone else's baby smiling?
Zoe is 4 weeks tomorrow... Not sure if this is around the time they smile?
Unfortunately, as a breech baby, she needs an u/sound in March to check her hips- today when we went to the MCHN, she could hear a slight clicking on the right side :(

Emma - Vaeda has been smiling, though we think it's gas at the moment rather than a happy face, since she does it between cringes and farts :) still sooo cute though!!!
Vaeda has an overlapping toe :( need to get an ortho to look at it but so far haven't had luck with getting a referral. The paediatrician was supposed to give us one but it's been weeks of chasing him and we still don't have it. The MCHN has now given us a referral, but we have to take that to our GP and get the GP to write a referral, then we can book an appointment with the ortho. WTF?? I have never understood this referral process with specialists. If I am happy to pay for the service, why can't I just call direct and book in? Anyway we will have to see what the ortho has to say.. It's probably only a cosmetic problem, but she is a girl living in a coastal town and will be wearing a lot of sandals in her lifetime. We don't want her to get teased for having weird toes so we are thinking we will get it fixed. If she was a boy we would leave it, but being a girl myself, I know how self-concious we can be. What do you girls think?

Vintrar - Are talking about the second toe longer then the first? (pardon my ignorance if this is not the case) I grew up on the coast all my life and my toes are like that...I never really had an issue with it and no one ever said anything about it. Jayde also has it too as both her father and me have it, its really a personal choice for you and I understand your concern but just thought I would let you know that I never had any problems :) Hopefully you can get into contact with the doc and see what they can do for you
Emma - I thought Jayde was doing wind smiles but it was 2 hours after a feed and she had no wind and DH was playing with her on the floor and she smiled at him that was a couple of days ago (Jayde is 3 weeks) SOOOO I like to think she smiled at him. Good Luck with the u/s I hope its nothing too
I cant believe what happened last night after Jayde's 11pm feed she slept until 6.30 this morning...I woke and freaked as DH's alarm went off and we both went over to the cradle and touched her...I cant believe how she slept...though I think it may have something to do with the fact she was awake for alot of the day...but I dont have a problem with this lol I could get use to it :)
Jayde also has to have a scan done on her kidney's at 6 weeks to check for the same condition I have...hopefully she doesnt have it...
Colestar - nah it's her fourth toe, it is L shaped and goes under her third toe. The paediatrician said it probably. Wouldn't effect her walking, but she might have problems with callouses. It's a hard decision to make, it could just fix itself over time, but could also get worse over time, and if we want to fix it we have to do it before she starts learning to walk.
How is everyone going?
Chloe is doing good, she is such a strong girl, is holding her head up while on her tummy for short periods, she loves kicking and flapping away while talking to herself. She follows our voices around the room with her head and loves listening to her sister play. She is a sticky beak and so aware of everything and is smiling already like her big sister did, I finally got it on camera today. With Amelia I thought she started smiling before 3 weeks but everyone kept telling me she couldnt be cause they cant so young, then as she slowly did it more and more I got it on video and people started agreeing with me when they saw it, so this time I know that Chloe definetly is. I will try to post a photo of her little grin.
She even let me sleep from 12 to 6 last night and back asleep till 9, pity Amelia woke up at 7.30. She spends heaps of time awake during the day now so hopefully night times she will sleep longer. Feeding 3 1/2 hourly during the day but 5 to 6 at night, which I dont mind.
I got the first baby bonus payment on Saturday, yippeee:dance:, so it was off to pumpkin patch to buy some winter clothes for both girls and some summer for Amelia next season cause they are having a huge sale. I was back in there today exchanging the ones I bought the wrong size of :wall: and ended up buying more stuff, I really need to steer clear of the place for awhile. Also ordered Chloes hand and feet casting kit and frame, got excitied cause it is exactly the same as Amelias.
Colestar - depends on bubs when they will start having time awake, some are real sticky beaks, you just hope they choose the daytime to do it :pray:. If they dont you can encourage it to be during the day by making nightime feeds in the dark with no noise or stimulation or talking, helps to keep them settled and sleepy. A good routine I like and that they hopefully will fall into in the early months is 'sleep, feed, play', nothing much you can do for the times they choose though.
Kazaraz - our local cinema has baby safe screenings where it is made clear to those going and acceptable that babies are brought along, maybe yours might? I used to go with some girlfriends and their babies, and it didnt matter if they screamed.
Emma - i know what it feels like to be nervouse about bubs hips. Amelia was diagnosed with hypermobility in all her joints and we have been visitng the specialist regularly since she was 6 months to make sure her hips are developing fine. I noticed it when I thought it strange that she was pulling her legs flat to her chest when playhing. Her hip joints are shallow allowing extra movement, and cause of the extra movement they may not carve out a good socket. So far it has been good, we go back in a few months when she is 2 for another scan and checkup. Apart from that she is great as a party trick, she can put her feet on the side of her head with her legs behind her shoulders, and all her other joints twist in funky positions.
Well I better be off again and do the good wife thing and start dinner, while trying not to eat the oatmeal bars I made nyum nyum.

not much to say today except i lost it this morning big crys im so tired running around after these 5 girls of mine,charlie keeps me up all night long I MEAN ALL NIGHT :shakehead: i really do not want to winge as i love her dearly but its catching up girls sooooooooooo i went off to woolies today and changed formula she is now on S26 AR THICKENED FORMULA :clap: AND SO FAR SO GOOD shes so settled this arvo its awsom so im already feeling heaps better :D

We've got the Babes in Arms' Breeze Baby sling, this one is mesh and quick-dry so good for hot weather and to take in the water, and we've got an ebay one by Ryoka which is this checked pattern (a lot of pink, but I can tolerate it haha) but this one is padded and so comfy for me AND for bubs. Both are ring sling types. The only concern is Elly's still so little her head gets lost in the folds of the sling, so still have to balance her head with my hand while she's in it, but she loves being so close and cuddled!:

Haven't had much time to drop in to chat - but I have been logging in randomly and it sounds as though everyone is going quite well.
Vintrar -two of my older boys have curly toes (which I think is what your talking about). We took DS2 (who is was 3 at the time) to the podiatrist and she made a mould thing for both toes (he has curly toes on each foot - one worse than the other). We struggled to get him to wear them and subsequently gave up a few months later. He will be 4 next week and one foot is totally normal now and the other is much better also. It seems wearing no shoes over summer helped alot. We spoke to numerous Doctors about it and none of them recommended surgery as they said that medically its not an issue, though he will be prone to callouses and corns, etc.
My 2 year old also has the same problem but as he has grown up its almost corrected itself. I'm sure each case is very different but just thought I'd let you know my experience with curly toes :)
Are any of your little ones getting hard to settle? My little man seems to always have wind and can take 2 hours to settle sometimes. The other boys were never this demanding (though maybe I was just lucky :)) Any ideas on how to get the wind out?
There he goes again - least he was happy for 5 mintues. Best go and see what I can do for him...

Vintrar Lucy has the toe under the other as well... though no one has mentioned about going to a podi.. might ask about that though.
I have a question for everyone Lucy seems to get quite a lot of wind and screams in pain and is becoming very unsettled. Has anyone elses babys doing this as well? I have tried all the techniques I know of but still can't seem to get her to burp. It seems to be a await till she fluffs them out.... It upsets me to see her in so much discomfort.
Any ideas?
