    Morning

DF went back to work today. I cried when he left. Stupid hormones. I miss him.

Aidan is sleeping. Should be up soonish. Still cant express more than 20mls, even when my breasts are full and heavy. But I keep filling my breast pads to the point where Ill wake up leaking all over myself. Would this be because he doesnt have set feeding times? It just feels like such a waste and I want to wring out the pads to save the milk!!

My goal for today is to find the motivation to fold/iron the mountain of clothes Ive been hiding/ignoring in my study. Its funny cause I have no problem doing all the baby's stuff, because its new and cute. But the rest of the clothes are all still sitting in the baskets...

    Hi everyone...

Just a quick one today, feeling pretty out of it.

DP just left to have a "day with his friend".... going to lunch and looking at car stuff. He has been helping me so much.... but I am so upset he is going out. I know it is irrational, but I havent had a day to have lunch with friends and shop and the reason he can do this today is he is off work to help me!

arrrrggg I know this is hormones and lack of sleep talking

    Hi!

Insom - Big hugs on df being back at work...Are you having a letdown while your expressing??? I can hardly express until I get a letdown and it all pours out??
Hope you got your washing organised!!

Meercat - Big hugs for you too - I don't blame you for being upset...his time off is for you and bubs not so he can go and do his thing...make sure you tell him!! You're too tired as it is at the moment to be having to deal with this extra stuff...he should be home so you can rest and sleep!! Hope your feeling ok tonight!

I had a visit to the chiro which was great...even just to get out of the house! Poor Jayden was super unsettled and didn't really sleep the whole time I was gone...he's asleep now but for how long I don't know?? I'm going to go to bed shortly in case he sleeps for a while!
I survived dh's first day at work - at times it got pretty full on - with all 4 boys crying or wanting me for something but for the most part it went fine! Just super busy!

    Sweet dreams everyone! Chat later!

Krisvee yay for surviving the first day with DH back at work - and for getting to the Chiro!! I've had 2 visits since getting home, and Arlee's had a check too - I was hanging for an adjustment the day after having her! Hope you got some sleep before Jayden woke

    Hey girls,

    How you all doing

Insom- do you massage the breast while you express? Milk pools in certain areas of the breast so massaging and squeezing the breast while you express can help get out all the milk, not just the foremilk. HTH

AFM went to see the baby well care nurse today to have Adrian weighed etc and he is going gangbusters! He is now 4.4kg and 59cm long! 5cm in 4 weeks! Shouldn't be suprised though as DH is 6'4", he is going to be a big boy. The downside is he has been very grumpy and demanding with feeding the last few days and i keep running out of milk, the nurse recommended something called fenugreek (SP?) to help increase my milk and if that doesnt help, motilium. Has anyone tried either? Also drinking even more water ( i feel like im going to explode most days LOL) and getting even more rest, hence DH is now in the kitchen cooking dinner heheheh.

Anyways, hope all are well and bubs are being good,
    Hugs

    Hi!

Jayden seems to be sometimes feeding one side only at the moment...he had a huge day sleep today so not sure what will happen tonight. He's doing lots of little chuckies after feeding so no sure if it's because he's making a guts of himself or if it because of something I've eaten!
He's such a gorgeous thing though - have his 2 week check tomorrow so can't wait to see how he's gained!

Human bean - Love the chiro! I'm booked in again for 3 weeks time...I think I'll def take Jayden with me the time after that and get him adjusted as well...

b - It's hard to be relaxed 1st time round though...everything feels like it will last forever and so many people tell you rubbish about what you should be doing and how you should be doing it...I remember having so many peoples opinions (mostly family) and I wish I'd told them all to jam it! LOL! They were so unsupportive and I had so many people telling me I was creating bad habits - such as load of rubbish...
Glad the new formula is going well!

Jellymaker - Yeah at bubs growing so well..remember bfing is supply and demand, so all that extra feeding should increase your supply also and then things should settle down...hopefully the supplements work for you also!! Good for you getting some rest - it's so important!!

Must get to bed soon...sooo tired! Cheeky man was up from 2.30-4am this morning - so not what I needed - Lol...

    Re: Babies born~March 16th-31st 2010 #1

Jelly - I take fenugreek but it does take awhile to kick in. U could try the lactation cookies. They r yummy and work almost straight away. They r fattening tho! Lol

Afm, hamish has started crying and screaming when I try to put him on my breast. I dint know what to do anymore. He might feed for 2 mins then screams again. I feel like giving up at the moment.
Having bad time too. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday so all the family went to see her. At least it is only early stages so that's good.

Would you believe I havent even touched the washing..... But we did leave the house by ourselves yesterday.

B - you must own so many different types of formula now!!

krisvee - you are my hero, having four little boys!!

jellymaker - I do massage them to try and get the milk to come out, but it only works when they feel like giving it up. Also Ive noticed that Ive got a lump in each armpit. Im to massage them and go to the doctor for antibiotics if doesnt clear on its own.

Had a baby check yesterday. She noticed that he has a distinct line of muscle down the centre of his belly, which apparently isnt normal. So Ill be booking him into the doctor.
Anyone else's baby sound a little congested all the time? She said its normal for newborns, but still doesnt sound great. On the positive side though, he is up to 4.3kgs and will be 4 weeks on Friday.

    hope everyone is doing well

    Hi ladies,

Teresa- sorry to hear about your mum, now that they have found it early it means they can start treatment though. My dad was diagnosed with renal cancer 4 years ago and they cut out his left kidney but he got secondaries in his liver, has been on chemo pills since then and the tumors have shrunk and he is doing really well, he didn't even lose his hair and lives fairly normally other than feeling a bit crook sometimes. So, cancer treatment has come a long way in the last few years so hopefully your mum will be fine. Big hugs. Hopefully Hamish will sort out his feeding issues too as you dont need the extra stress, but even if he doesn't, don't feel guilty if you have to switch to formula, it's getting him fed that counts

B and Missawah- glad we are now friends on FB B, i went to Northwest Private to have Adrian, really good hospital and great midwives. Where did you go?

Insom- hope there is nothing serious with Aidan but it is always good to get these things checked out. As for your expressing dilemma? Maybe try really hot showers or packs before expressing? If youv'e already tried that then i'm at a loss. Hope it all gets sorted.

Hi to all the other mummies,
    Talk later

    Hi!

Well, I managed to get Louis to kinder on time this morning at 8.45am!! Woohoo - go me! LOL! I even had a shower as well before I left which I didn't think would happen. It was a full on day though as we went straight from kinder to Dylans sports class, the home, lunch for the 2 middle boys, back to pick Louis up, off to the mchn for Jaydens check up and then back home! I was soo tired. Had my first tears this afternoon - just a few when dh got home and just plonked himself on the couch while I was busy making lasagne for dinner and tidying the kitchen. Just thought it would have been nice for him to see how I was and if I needed a hand with anything...oh well, he knows for tomorrow hopefully - LOL! Was good to have a cry though and get the stress of the day out - felt much better for it afterwards!
So Jayden had his check up - he's put on 190g in 6 days and is now 3.91kg!!

Teresa - Big hugs to you...so sorry to hear about your mum...wishing her the best of luck to fight it - glad to hear they've caught it early...
As for bubs..how's the feeding going? He doesn't have thrush does he?? Might be worth getting him checked out for that...??

Insom - Hope bubs is ok with he muscle in his tummy...Yep - bubs often sounds a little snuffly...not all the time but I have noticed it fairly often...

Hoping to get some decent sleep tonight - bubs was up heaps last night...often he's only feeding one side overnight which makes him settle easier but he wakes sooner for the next feed...oh well, won't last forever!!

    Chat later...

    Hi everyone!

Krisvee, I agree, 4 boys don't know how you do it!

Teresa, really sorry to hear about your mum, glad they got it early and wishing her all the best for a full recovery

Con, when do we get to see photos :P

    B, how's the new formula?

Insom, Harri sounds congested sometimes too. Hoping your little boy is ok, I'm certain he will be though. As for the BF, hope it gets easier for you, it can be so frustrating!

Jelly, loved the photos of Adrian on FB, adorable!

AFM we've had a great couple of days, we now know it was Harri's 2 week growth spurt that was causing him to be more unsettled and wanting to feed more than usual. But now he's back to normal and we're even getting a night time routine! I expressed today and managed to get 50mls so I was super stoked and just have to keep it up to help with my milk supply (although apparently he's getting heaps anyway). It was nice though to be able to give DP a bottle and let him feed Harri, was lovely to watch.

Harrison put on 100g in a week this week, so he's up to 3.9kg and hoping he can crack the 4kg mark on Monday when we have another visit. He's 3 weeks old today, can't believe how quick its gone!

Hi to everyone I've missed and hope everyone is going well

thanks everyone for your well wishes and support. she is booked in for a mastectomy on may 7th which she is dreading. will know more details over the next couple of weeks. feeling positive knowing that they have caught it early.

with Hamish and his feeding, thought that i would try to bf him every 2nd feed and see how i go with that. he takes to the top up bottle with no issues so i dont know why he isnt taking to me. i use the nipple shield every feed so i cant understand why he will have the bottle no probs but not me. going to express after every feed too just to keep my supply up. i always check his mouth and cant see any thrush at all. i did think of that to begin with but cos he has the bottle no probs, i figure he has a problem with me. a friend said that your milk changes flavour around now so maybe mine has and he isnt sure of the new taste. who knows.

insom - Hamish sounds very snuffly and i am still yet to go to the chemist and get some fess to clear his nose. its just saline so there is no drugs and its completely safe. if i was at work i would get some saline there and syringes but i cant!!! maybe try some fess too and see how u go.

big wave and hi to everyone xxx

    Hi Ladies,

Just popping in to say hi and do a quicky post, very tired today.....

Teresa, I'm sorry to hear the news about your mum. Big huhs hun. I'm glad they've caught it early though, I wish her all the very best in her recovery.

Krisvee, it's good to have a little cry sometimes, it does wonders for the stress!! Hope you're feeling better now, you are a true star hun, looking after 4 children including a newborn AND finding time/energy to cook tea!! I feel so bad as I can't even handle looking after one baby!!!

Missawah, I'm so happy Harri is doing so well. Cam also went ferral at 2 weeks of age, a big growth spurt they told me!!

InSom, Cam has this thing where he looks like he's choking but at the hossy they told me it's the flem he doesn't know how to bring up yet. He's also been congested too, I thought he had a cold but I think it's just excess milk, that makes thim make these gurgling noises....what the????

b, fingers crossed that Karicare Gold works for your little man!!

Hi to everone else, sorry for not replying to everyone...

I'm struggling here a bit. I have had another horrible day yesterday, Cam didn't sleep much at all yesterday and was a horror in the evening. It 's times like that that I question myself as a mum. I can't even settle my own baby. I feel like a failure. Today I had some tears too, just before DF got home so he wouldn't see. I ask myself, am I a good mum?? Was I really ready to be a mum and have this massive life changing experience?? I don't think it's baby blues anymore, I'm scared it's the begining of PND. I'm seeing my psychologist in a couple of weeks time, I will have a chance to talk to her about it.

On a good note, Cam had a better day today. At the moment though, we have one good day and the next not so good. So of course I'm expecting a bad one tomorrow
I had a visit to the maternal health nurse yesterday. He's put on 630 grams in two weeks, so she said I'm slightly overfeeding him ATM. That would explain the little chucks he has after every feed and the unsettling periods. He weighs 4.43 kg now, big chubba. I simply increased his feeds from 125 ml every 3/4 hours to 140 ml in the last week or so. So now I have gone back to 125 ml.

    B x
