ReeRee, helloooooooooooooooooooooo hun!! Finally I have a baby buddy! I'm going OK sweety, just like you, my wee man just feeds and sleeps, I'm lucky he goes out for approx. 3 to 4 hours. In between I express so I an so tired as I'm not resting at all during the day. My wee man only grizzles when his nappy is wet/soiled or he hasn't got enough food in his belly. I've worked out that I don't have enough breast milk, so I either have to feed more frequently or top him up with formula, but at night it's formula only as I just can't do the boobie and I usually don't have enough expressed milk. Glad you wee man is doing well!!! I hope our bubs are well behaved even when they start to wake up a bit more....

Thanks Olive, I thought I was going mad!

    Hi Mum2missm, ReeRee and Beata!

Tiah is a chilled out little being as well, she has taken to breastfeeding so well.... I am feeding her as much as possible and expressing at the end of each feed so her dad can give her a bottle once a day. I am not sure if that is the right thing to do, but it seems to be working!

I was pretty chuffed when we left hospital and she had only lost 44g from her birth weight... after a crappy labour it was nice to be doing something right.

Is anyone else dealing with stitches? I had an episiotomy (is that what its called???) ... and god damn it is hard trying to do what I need to when my lady bits hurt so bad Right now I am sitting on an ice pack while Tiah sleeps trying to get some relief!

Beata - hamish turns his head side to side during sleep so we don't have to worry bout doing that.

    Morning girls,

Hope some of us got some decent sleep last night.

Beata- Adrian moves his head from side to side while he sleeps so not an issue, but for your boy, try lying him on alternate sides each sleep and that should even his neck muscles out. Adrian has such a strong neck and he lifts his head and looks around all the time, its a pain when feeding though because he tries to pull away sometimes and he is so strong i feel like im going to break his little neck to get him back on.

As for all the other babies, im not an expert as ive only been doing this for 2 weeks LOL, but i found that the thing that made it easier was to run through the top 5 whenever Adrian cried.
    Hungry?
    Nappy?
    Pain? (wind/nappy rash)
    Too hot?
    Too cold?

Once all those bases were covered, if he was still crying it was normally a case of wrapping him nice and tight, giving him some time on mine or DH's chest until he fell asleep and carefully transferring him to his cot. Eliminating those five possibilities made me feel like i was doing something active and not just hopelessly watching him cry.

I also found in the early days when his crying got me on edge to remind myself that it was just that, crying. He couldnt hurt himself by crying, the worst that would happen is he could exhaust himself and fall asleep, so if i was getting really stressed and emotional, i would leave him somewhere safe, like his cot, then go and have a cold drink or something and relax, then when i came back, if i was relaxed and not tense, he would relax too and we could figure out what he wanted.

I dont want to sound like a know-it-all since im no expert, but it helps me and DH and it might help some of you too.

AFM I had a poo fountain experience last night!! FInished feeding Adrian and heard the unmistakable noise of a full nappy and so went to change him. Had the old nappy off and was reaching for the new one when he decided he wasn't quite done and let loose a fountain of poo!!! Went all over the change table and a little on the carpet but thankfully it missed me!!! Now that was an experience!! Oh and then he did another little wee!! I swear he saves it up and waits till nappy time LOL

Anyways, hope all the settling/feeding/burping/spewing/sleeping issues get sorted out for you all and you have some nice calm cuddles.

    Big hugs to everyone

    Good evening ladies,

Sorry no personals. We've had a loooong day. Aidan has been incredibly unsettled and found his proper baby cry which he has made good use of most of the day. Only just got him to his first deep sleep of the day.

    Re: Wee
Aidan tries to constantly pee on me, but never on Daddy. But he managed to pee in his own face the other day. I had a washer on his bits while I got the nappy (so all of two seconds) and he kicked it off and peed all over his face and toys above him on his change table. Boy was he shocked.

    Re: Tongue tied
Both me and my DS1 are tongue tied and we never had any trouble feeding.

Hope all the bubs are being nice to their mummies. My brain is like mush right now, so I apologise for no personals.

    Hi ladies,

OMG, your posts are making me giggle especially about the poo explosions (mum had to deal with one when I went out for an hour today to the shops, poor mum!!!) and peeing on the face thing! He did it the other day and was really shocked and surprised where it came from, your willy you silly!! hahaha.

teresa, thanks hun. I'm hoping when he's a few weeks old, he'll be turning his head from side to side. ATM he really favours the right!

b, thanks hun, I keep reminding myself it will get better once he hits the 8 week mark!! The paeditrician told me yesterday to encourage him to sleep on the left side of his head more and to generally 'look' to his left side as he really favours the right ATM. Aparently it's good to have the balance right.

jellymaker, good points hun!! I generally do the same, check the obvious and then it's mostly wind that gets him really irrtated. I went to the chemist today and the lady there told me to put him on an 'original' formula rather thatn the 'gold' variety as they are too heavy for newborns. So I got the S-26 original (I was on the kericare gold newborn). She also told me to give him tiny amounts of boiled water cooled to room temperature, apparently it's good for constipation/wind.

inSom, big hugs, we've all been there, hey?

Hello to everyone else out there!

I've bought a vibrating boucer today, he was in it for about 20 minutes watching the footy with daddy and then he started to whinge again so we put him in his bassinette and so far so good. He is not due for another feed until 11.30, but I'll give him another feed at 11 and hopefully he'll sleep longer than the 3 hours! I also bought this musical thingie that displays these shapes on the ceiling, so far he likes that. Every bit helps!!!!

Not really b, I try to but today I went to the shops and by the time I came back he was ready for a feed, and then DF's kids came over for tea. When I don't do any trips to the shops or have any visitors, I try to lie down for even half an hour. Now that I have DF for 4 days over Easter, I plan to get him to help out a lot more so I can at least catch up on SOME sleep! We'll see I really can't imagine having a toddler as well as a newborn... I take my hat off to you hun!!!

Insom - Tiah was very unsettled today as well It took me all day to realise that my boobs were not sore because she was refusing to feed properly - she was refusing because my ducts seem to be blocked and thus the soreness! Spent a good hour soaking the boobies in hot water and expressing..... hopefully that should make her settle!

I felt so bad, poor little thing had been sucking away - and not getting much She had a huge feed just before and is going onto her 5th hour of sleep now!

seems the full moon is making babies unsettled

Harrison has also had a very unsettled last couple of nights...2 poo explosions last night and another tonight, poor little man has so much wind, doesn't help that he suckles for comfort. He's just gone to sleep now so I'm off to try and sleep a bit myself, will come back for personals when I have half a brain to read things.

My Mum and sister get here tomorrow thank god!

    Re: Babies born~March 16th-31st 2010 #1

We don't get many visitors. DH went back to work 2 weeks after we bought Hamish home so I have been on my own since then during the day. No one has offered to come around and watch Hamish while I have a shower or run some errands. I have to make sure he is asleep before I can shower. I am pretty lonely when DH is at work. I don't hear from my friends and those who said they would visit or call never do. My brother and his gf haven't even met Hamish yet and he is now 8 weeks old. At least I made the effort to go and see them when their baby was born. I didn't even hear from them the entire time I was in hospital. In fact if I had of stayed in longer and Hamish was born a couple of weeks later I still wouldn't have heard or seen them.

Sorry that's my rant over with

    Hi Ladies

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I'm struggling with my other "Buddies" group as they all seem to know each other. I figure that I "know" you all here and it's great to hear how you are all getting on.

Teresa - I don't have any family here at all and only very few friends. All my family is back in Scotland. I have no-one to help me at all. I haven't even spoken to my mum (verbally) since I told her I was pregnant, although she emails every day, but the emails always make me feel guilty, like I've taken her grandson away from her.

Shaza, sounds like you are doing well, great to hear!

Belinda - wow - 980 ml in one day - great effort!

Krisvee - hope Jayden has woken and you get some sleep.

Missawah - we're also using Infant's Friend. Using it every feed ad it seems to be helping us no end! Gotta love the "Magic Orange Medicine"!

Meercat -hope Tiah's thrush clears up soon!

Beata - here's hoping you have a better day today.

Sorry to anyone I have missed -that's as far back as I got with the posts.

AFM, Fraser is doing really well. We're still feeding every 3 hours, bang on to the minute! I am starting to wish he would go a little longer between feeds but I can't complain. I'm still expressing what I can (About 30 ml for each feed) then giving formula for the rest, which seems to be working. I was saving the EBM and giving one big feed of it but i think it was upsettng his little tummy and this seems to be working better again, even though it means double washing up. Never mind! He's still farting away all day but we're getting very little in the poo-ey nappy department, but plenty of wet.

I'm going to try and start gettig Fraser into some sort of routine, to see if that can lengthen some of his night feeds. He's awake at the moment so about to feed then keep him awake for as long as I can. Going to try and let him do his own thing through the day, then hopefully about 4-5 pm (whatever time the feed is due), keep him upright in his rocker but let him sleep if he wishes, then before next feed is due, give him his bath. Not sure it will work, but read it on a website and fingers crossed! I was thinking that bigger feeds through the night might make his tummy heavy and therefore want to sleep more, but he doesn't want to take any more than his 100 ml and even then, most of the time (apart from the crazy wide-awake in middle of night episodes) he is falling asleep while feeding and I can hardly get him to finish!

Missawah, I'm glad Infants Friend is working for you. I've tried it too, but infacol seems to be woring much better for my wee man.

Kisvee, I got pretty depressed when DF went to work He was in hospital with me for 2 days (pointless being there the whole 5 days) and then when we came home on the the Sunday, I only had him on the Monday & Tuesday. I asked him to take a couple of weeks off, but his work is winding down for a partial close down in May (he is responsible for all the people who will be stood down in the production side of things) and he is extremely busy ATM. I really needed him with me in the first week or so, I felt so helpless and lonely when he went back. Thank goodness for mum being 5 minutes away!

b, I changed Cam's feeds to the 'Gold' version of the S26 formula. I figure that the infacol is now effectively removing the wind, and that's what Karicare Gold was giving him. So fingers crossed that with infacol at hand, the S26 Gold formula will make him sleep 4 hours at a time. Last night I gave him a bath at 8.30 pm, he ate at 9 pm, and then I woke him up at 11 pm for a feed thinking he'll go through to at least 2 am (he only had 30 ml of formula as I couldn't wake him up). WRONG!!!! The little munchkin woke up at 12.30 (so right on cue after his 9 pm feed - he feeds every 3 to 3.5 hours now). Then he woke at 4 am, not bad, and then at 7.30 am. The thing is, I stayed up till 11 to give him the top up, so getting up at 12.30 and 4 am was two night feeds, I prefer one!

Shaza, welcome to our group!! I'm glad your little Brock is a good baby. I get many more wet nappies than the pooey ones....one every two days I think. As for going to formula, I was exactly the same hun. Cam never took to b/f that much, plus I didn't have that much milk, when I gave him formula he is so much happier now.

Teresa, I am so sorry you don't have anyone to help you with Hamish. I don't have a fantastic relationship with my mum, but she is so handy right now to give me a hand. Big hugs hun.

Miamunchkin, hello hun!!!!!!!! So glad you're joining us here. I feel like I am at home in this thread! You're a star for still expressing and giving Fraser a wee bit of b/m, good on you hun, I wish I had the milk/energy/patience!

Hi to everyone else! Off to catch the midday movie, Cam had a feed at 10.15 this morning and still hasn't gone to sleep
