Beata - sorry to hear Cam has been whingey - not so good. Not sure about other fruit but we were told to avoid the banana as it does make them constipated.
Well, for those who haven't seen my posts on FB - we have had a HELL of a week. We had friends round for morning tea on Sunday and then friends round for dinner on Sunday evening. After evening guests left, I got a call from morning guests to say their son (21 months) had a fever and to watch out for Fraser. Jump to Monday - Fraser extremely unsettled but no fever. Through the night, I was up to him 9 times that I remember counting. On Tues, the lady whose turn it was to host Mother's Group cancelled, so I offered for the mums and bubs to come to ours. Fraser was okay but by mid-afternoon was a bit unsettled again and had a temperature. Text friend with unwell son and she said doctors had said it was just a virus. Had a relatively good night, only up once. When I got Fraser up on Wed morning, he had a rash all over his head and he had a high fever. Wouldn't sleep through the day, so called the doctor at lunchtime and got a 4.30 appt. By the time we got to docs, temp was sky high and rash getting worse. Doc checked him over and couldn't find anything, but said that if his crying continued, to take him straight to the children's hospital so they could thoroughly check him over. Crying got worse so took him in and low and behold, they checked his mouth and it was full of ulcers. By this time, the rash was all over his body. They told us it was Hand, Foot and Mouth disease and there wasn't much we could do but let it take it's course. They did give us some local anesthetic in a tub to try and rub in Fraser's mouth to try and numb it enough so he will feed.
Have had a hell of a few days - he's just constantly crying with pain (no wonder - it looks agony) and not sleeping more than 20 mins through the day and no more than 45 mins at night. It's such a shame.....my poor baby!
Anyway, hope everyone else is well and hope that no-one is going through what we are! xx
Oh sweetie, I just jumped on FB for a few minutes and saw your message about Fraser. The poor darling, my heart breaks for him to be in so much pain. Hoping and praying he will recover soon, must be pure hell for him and you!!!! Big hugs hun, and big cuddles for wee Fraser xxxxxxx
Massive cuddles for Fraser, and you and your DH! I have a wheat intolerance and get mouth ulcers if I'm naughty and eat some, so I can sympathise with the the poor wee lad, they are painful Lots of speedy recovery vibes coming his way.
Beata, sounds like Cam and Indy are sharing whingey days He was super grumpy for a couple of days at the start of the week. Still no sigh of teeth so we're not sure why. He has only pooped once since Sunday though, which the MCHN said is very normal for breastfed babies. He hasn't started any solids yet and he's still doing plenty of farts and having lots of wet nappies. I was having horrible nurse nightmares of him with a bowel full of hard pebbly constipated poo or an intussusception Sometimes being a nurse can be a bad thing for your sanity!
Nat, how did Angus like the mashed spud? I can't wait to start Indy on solids and see what he does and doesn't like

Ah, the footy.......I have been to 2 games all year Yes, we must catch up soon, Cam needs all the mates ATM, no one at gymbaroo wants to be his friend as he is grumpy half the time and makes the others cry!!! ha ha ha
Ladies, for those who have the amber teething necklaces for their bubs, which one did you end up getting? I went to amberbebe and there are a few different ones.......don't know which one to get. Also, they are 33 cm long....isn't that too long for a small neck??????
Thanks for your kind wishes, girls. It means so much! Fingers crossed we are over the worst of it, but I fear we may have to go back to a bit of sleep and feed training as we're feeding on demand and rocking to sleep.
I meant to add to the previous that the girl whose little one had the fever had HFMD diagnosed yesterday - when she called her friends to let them know (who he had been in contact with) one of the others said her child has it, so that's where it came from. I can't believe that she couldn't have done a call round earlier! It's the first thing I did when we got home from the hospital!
Anyway, enough about us!
Beata - we got ours from Amberbebe and got a dark coloured one (can't remember which one) but I've heard the lighter ones are better! I just wanted one that looked a bit more boyish.
HC - I hope Indy gets a bit better soon! Thanks for the mention of the ulcers - I can imagine it is agony for Fraser!

Just a quickie. We're going through absolute hell here. Fraser has recovered (I assume) from his hand, foot and mouth, but is refusing milk altogether! It's driving us crazy as it has been going on since Saturday. We thought that maybe as we'd started solids that we were giving him too much (only Cerelac at the moment as that is all his tummy will tolerate) so cut down a bit to the one tablespoon 3 times a day (we were doing two) but it's making no difference. Anyone else having issues? I HATE the fact that we struggle so much with everything. We never seem to get a decent run of more than a week without a major hurdle of one sort or another.
Hey Claire, sorry to hear things are out of sorts with Fraser, I wish I had something helpful to add but I don't Do you have a good health nurse/GP/Paed that you can hound to start looking into things? What if you stop the solids all together at the moment and see if the bottles pick up over a few days? Did he just stop drinking when you started the solids? Or was it when he had the mouth ulcers.... sorry I wish I could remember.

We're doing well here, the little miss is sleeping well which is nice and rolling all over the place, she's like a little firecracker. A cheeky one at that! No teeth yet or any sign of them really either.
I was wondering what was going on with the posts because i lost one that i was SURE i'd posted! Oh well, its not the first time i've lost a post!
Adrian hit 6 months on Thursday!!! OMG it had gone soooooo fast! He also started rolling this week and now i cant stop him from doing it! He still cant get from tummy to back though but he's gonna have to learn if he keeps flipping himself over all the time! Still no teeth but gumming everything like crazy! He loves his rusks, though bits of them end up everywhere.

DS had his first sleep over a nanny and poppies last night as it was our 5th wedding anniversary. DH and I went out and had an awesome dinner and got to sleep-in this morning! It was fantastic!!!! DS was really well behaved and slept all night for my parents so they said they would be happy to do it again! WIN!!!
Anyway, hope all the mummies out there find a good routine and bubs stay healthy.

Anyhoo, happy 6 months Adrian!! Where does the time go hey? Woohoo for Adrian rolling! Cam is still a lazy little boy, he is sort of rolling but with a bit of mummy's help, ATM from back onto his tummy. Forget about the other way around! I was talking to a couple of girls I know who have slightly older babies (aroung 9 months) and they both said not to worry too much if he isn't rolling, sitting up etc yet......he will do it in his own time! I guess they're right!
Mia, so sorry you're having a hard time. I know only too well when things go to poo sometimes despite your best efforts! I remember Cam refusing his bottles and it drove me up the wall!!! I used to stress so much about it, worrying if he was getting enough food. That was before I started the rice cereal and some basic solids. At the time I couldn't just fill him up with something else! Fortunately it was only a stage, but it did last a couple of weeks. Then all of a sudden he was back to normal. So try not to stress hun, if he doesn't want it, don't force it. If he is hungry, he'll take it. I was so obsessive about how many bottles he was supposed to be on, I really drove myself insane and put so much stress on myself. Everyone was telling me to relax and let him lead the way, and when I did, he was more relaxed and so was I. Hope it gets easier for you soon sun, and remember, it's probably a stage he's going through! But, if this continues for a long stretch, go and see a doc hun. There could be an underlying issue. beata, we just bought the Ikea highchair, it's $35 all-up. Had soooo many good recommendations from ppl and everyone i know has one. And we love it too! It's table-height so you can put bubs right up to the table if u take the tray off, no cushion seams for food to get trapped in..And so cheap! Only thing it doesn't do is fold up for storage - tho it can be easily pulled apart and reassembled. HTH!
Geez, i can't believe we're all hitting 6 months already either! My baby isn't a baby anymore - i think i need a new one hehehe
Mia, i hope things are picking up for lil Fraser poor lil guy is having rough trot! Can u try giving the solids a break and only offer milk? Maybe then if it's the only option he'll take it? i dunno, just sounds so frustrating for you guys!

As for us - no toothy pegs yet, and no signs either. Though Blake does wear his amber teething necklace every day, so maybe i won't notice any symptoms??? maybe????? lol - wishful thinking i bet!!
We've just started introducing solids the BLS way, and so far i/we are loving it! It's so easy, and i'm such a relaxed person (read: lazy) that this option suits us very well! So far he has played with, mashed into his tray,sucked on, attempted to feed his neck/eyes/ears some avocado, carrot and pear. I think some of the avocado and pear made it into his belly, but not much. At least he is getting to know food and what to do with it!
And now to brag - blake has decided that he now sleeps from 6:30pm til 6:00am i am so enjoying this, and hope it lasts forever!!
I am so annoyed because I must have lost my subscription to this thread and I thought no one was posting in it
Anyway, can I just start off by saying that I LOVE the stage Angus is at. He is coming along in leaps and bounds! He has been doing the whole army crawl for a few weeks now, but on the weekend he started really pushing himself up on his arms and today he put his arms and legs together, although he was doing a bit of a bunny hop thing and then face planted into the tiles
We've also being doing solids for a few weeks. So far we have tried farex, carrot, pear, sweet potato and banana. He hated the banana and threw it up straight away! He's such a happy boy and laughs and smiles almost all the time I love him to bits and can't wait until Wednesday when I take him to Brisbane to see all my family!
He's still not sleeping through the night though and wakes up once or twice. Sometimes he just needs to be re wrapped though. I probably shouldn't wrap him anymore, but he sleeps so much better. During the day he sleeps in a stretchy sleeping bag that doesn't have any arm holes.
Oh yes - and we got a tooth on Friday! This woman at playgroup asked if he was teething cause he had red cheeks and I said no, they are just dry skin. Anyway, later on I had him sitting in front of me (he can't sit on his own) and he started biting my hand and I noticed something sharp!

Miamunchkin - a friend of mine is having problems with her bub going off milk - but she's not sure what to do either. Have you tried cutting down the amount of times you are feeding him - we only feed Angus at night. Also, do you give him milk first? Hope it gets better!
mia - maybe offer smaller amounts of milk more frequently and see how you go. also maybe even try a sippy cup and see if that works. i hope everything improves soon
jelly - congrats on the anniversary. hamish was 6 weeks old when our first one came about so we just took him to tea with us. i didnt want to leave him with anyone. plus it was the day after his due date so it was pretty special for us

afm, well being back at work has been good. i finally get some adult conversation and i am starting to use my brain again brain was kind of going to mush being at home and watching FAR too much morning tv and dr phil i miss hamish tho but its good to get out. i am one of the very few that can say that i truely love my job.
hamish isnt crawling or even commando crawling yet. he is more interested in standing up or trying to pull himself up. i think that he will bypass the crawling stage all together and go straight to walking but my mum thinks that no he will crawl first. if he is on his tummy he looks so funny coz he kicks his legs out behind him and waves his arms about. looks like a turtle trying to swim!!! pretty darn cute really
he loves to bounce in his jumperoo too. tho lately he likes to stand up next to it and play with the toys means we have to sit on the floor and hold him up there.
today i went and had my hair cut and coloured. gone back blonde and it looks good now. have a fringe now too. will post pics up soon on fb. have a wedding to go to this weekend so that should be good. have a cute little suit to put hamish in just jeans and a long sleeve top from pumpkin patch
Teresa - that's great that you are enjoying your job and got your hair done. Just something to consider about Hamish going straight to walking - my friend was really focussed in getting her daughter to walk and now she Is 11 and has really bad coordination. Also, the gymbaroo teacher says how crawling first is important for kids learning because it connects both sides of the brain or someting. Anyway, something worth looking in to..
Just wondering - with solids, does anyone feed their Bubs straight veg/fruit or do they mix it with farex?
