Hi ladies!
InSom, Indy doesn't pull things over his face, but one of my nurse mates has two kids and they both do . Very exciting about rolling and a tooth! Bugger about going back to work though.
Hello everyone else, hope you're all well with happy babies. Indy's better with his amber necklace, still not sleeping through and wakes a few times, but that's more manageable with co-sleeping so I'm not so stressed! My mate just sent me her copy of Pinky McKay's book (Sleep Like a Baby) so I'll have a read of that over the next few days.
-
i read that book rooey. its excellent. she pretty much says that what ever u are doing that is working, keep doing it!! she does talk alot about breastfeeding tho. i wish i knew all that stuff when i was bf!!!
anyway i am off on tuesday to go to a support group for premmies and their mums. i thought it would be a great chance to meet other mums especially ones with premmies. plus i didnt do mothers group.
-
Teresa - that's great news that you are going to a new group. Hope you have lots of fun..
Rooey - glad the necklace is working. A lady at my playgroup has one and said it worked really well too.
Insom - great news about the rolling! Angus learned to roll at Gymbaroo about 3 weeks and did it on his playmat the next day (just once). Then he didn't do it again until a few days ago. Each time I went out of the room he would roll over, but not when I was there. The next day he didn't stop rolling (especially when I tried to change his nappy). It's funny cause he did that with sticking his tongue out too. Mum taught him how to do it a month or so ago and he didn't do it for ages - then all of a sudden he is doing it all the time!!
Beata - that's good about SIL - I know it can be uncomfortable when others are trying to get pregnant and you have a baby. I was one of those people when we were going through ivf. My SIL was very insensitive because she was asking DH why he wanted more children and making out it was strange and then next minute she announces she is pregnant (for the third time).
Anyway, I LOVE the stage Angus is at. He is coming along in leaps and bounds. His rolling is really good and he pulls himself along on his tummy. He can push up on his arms and get up on his knees and push - he just hasn't put the two together yet! :p Today I sat him up and he can hold himself up for a few seconds! He is poking his tongue out all the time when he is happy and when DH was doing the bedtime routine with him tonight he kept blowing raspberries!! I laughed because he didn't seem to be winding down at all ;)
-
Hi ladies!
How is everyone? I've got a very clingy boy today, not sure why. So I haven't done any housework, just spent the day giving him cuddles! I did get to watch The Proposal at least :)
Is anyone else managing to get any exercise in apart from walking? I did get a couple of full body tone-up workouts in a couple of weeks ago, but now I'm struggling!
Hope all your wee babes are well!
-
Hi Girls,
Just posting while waiting for DH to come home so i can go to the gym, i try to go at least twice a week but its been hard (does that answer your querie Rooey :)) Not so much finding the time as DH is happy to take DS at night, but just finding the energy. I still dont think he fully realises how draining it can be keeping a baby fed, changed, entertained and happy 24/7. Probably because Adrian is such an easy going baby he doesnt realise that it is still constant work.
Insom- Im glad Aidan only just rolled over, Adrian is just gone 5 months and still hasnt rolled over yet and i was worrying that he should have done it by now. He is mostly sitting up unaided now though. Any ideas on exercises that i can do to get him rolling? Tummy time only lasts for a few minutes before he cracks it and then i have to turn him back on his back. I put him on his playmat but then he is too distracted by the dangly toys, if i just leave him on a plain rug, he gets bored really quickly and starts to whinge. I try to give him lots of opportunites to roll but he just doesnt seem interested.
He seems to be doing fine with teething, i can feel the two bottom teeth at the front of his gums but they dont seem to be bothering him much, Im so sick of being covered in drool though!!!!! The front of his shirt is always saturated! I upped Adrian's solid foods as he was going less than two hours between bottles so he has a small serve of mushy fruit in the morning, and an afternoon serve of mushy veges. So far he looooves his solids and opens his mouth as wide as possible when he sees the spoon coming. I have yet to give him something he doesnt like :)
Anyway, DH just called and said he wont be home for a while so so much for exercising! im gonna go and take my gym clothes of and get dinner started, no wonder us mums never find the time!
-
Hi Jelly, Aidan wasnt showing any signs of rolling and hated tummy time. But I would roll him over myself and put toys just out of his reach, which is what got him going. He was distracted by his dangling toys too, but the mat that its on has rings and rattles around the edges that he has a new found love for. He still isnt rolling constantly. Now and then he will roll to his tummy and get sick of it and Ill have to roll him back.
Hi Nat - its funny how they roll all of a sudden. Aidan does it mainly when Im not looking. One second he'll be on his mat, then Ill look over and he is on the floor boards on his way to the cat.
Rooey - its good to hear that Aidan isnt the only dork that pulls things over his face. I have a theory that he is playing peek-a-boo
Ive had a couple of cries so far about leaving him in childcare starting Thursday. Im so worried that he'll notice I'm gone and think Ive abandoned him. Also we all know noone knows our babies as well as we do, and worry because he is so little and cant talk and tell me if he isnt happy there. I only left my 10yr old in care once a week and I was always close by and they were very short days and didnt go to work until he was 5 (I was studying). But with working in the CBD of Brisbane, our commute is at least an hour each way which makes for a very long day away from my baby. Not happy at all. :(
Oh and Ive done zero exercise since Aidan's birth. My bad.

Hi ladies,
InSom, Cam loves to pull his teddy blankie over his face now. I bought it for him months ago but he never took to it until a few weeks ago. When he goes to sleep, he likes to hold my fingers for a while before he drifts off. So I started putting the blankie in his hands when he is getting drowsy, and now he loves to hold it and put it near and over his face!! I always panic that he won't be able to breathe. Just tonight I went to tuck him in, and he had his blankie right near his face. A few minutes later he started crying so I asked my DF to check on him thinking it's his dummy. He came out of the room and said that he pulled the blankie right over his face. Poor love, at least I know he'll whinge about it and not suffocate
Rooey, I'm glad you're not too stressed about Indy's lack of sleeping! I'm also feeling a bit better about Cam not sleeping much, at the moment I get about 2 naps out of him a day, they usually last about 40 minutes each. I've begun to take him in his pram for a walk after 3 pm every day now (whereas before it was a couple of times a week, weather permitting), so he gets that extra 30 minute nap to get him through to bed time which is usually 7 pm. And I don't excercise at all apart from the walks with the pram. I am actually lighter now than before I got pg, I sometimes just don't eat, don't know why but I just don't have the appetite  It's really not good though as I feel I have no energy some days. I've just started taking multivitamins.
Nat, so glad to hear your little man is progressing so well!!!! He is a little star! Cam is still not rolling . Or sitting up......oh dear  Or eating solids......apart from farex which he is not too keen on.
Jelly, Cam is really starting to drool and gets red cheeks some days. Can't feel any definite lumps though....
AFM, I've managed to get Cam to fall asleep on his own since Saturday, I am so proud of myself (and of him of course!!). He does whinge and cry for a bit, but then eventually falls asleep. This is during the day. I think the blankie helps....
I am a bit worried about the rolling though, he does go on his side (eg I place him on the mat so the TV is behind him, and he tries to spin his head around to watch it as ends up on his side). I then gently help him to roll over, but he won't do it by himself. I think he's a late starter......I also put toys out of his reach but he seems happy to wait for me to move them for him!!!! My SIL got her blood results today, def. UTD she is!!! 5 weeks along, I am so happy as Cam will have a cuz to play with. My DF refuses to talk about no. 2 ATM, I am losing a bit of sleep over it as I like to be able to plan this ahead.....I turned the big 4 0 in May so my clock is ticking VERY loudly :shakehead:
Anyhoo, hi to everyone out there, hope you and your bubs are doing well :D

Beata - Babies all develop differently hey. Angus can roll really well and does a comando crawl (even getting his knees up) but he can't sit. There is a baby at our playgroup who has just started crawling and has been sitting on her own for a while but she can't roll from her back to her front. I haven't started Angus on solids at all yet. I've gave him a bit of mashed potato the other day and some yoghurt today when he tried to snatch the tub I was eating from away  I should really try the farex soon I guess.
inSom - good luck with the childcare thing. I've worked the nursery of a childcare centre before and I think it's quite good for them. I mean they socialise with other babies and the carers can really concentrate on them. Sometimes I feel guilty that I am not spending enough quality time with Angus because I am doing the housework, study or on the computer..
Jelly - good on you for doing exercises. I haven't done any at all  As for rolling, at gymbaroo they have this foam wedge thing and the instructor put him on his back at the top and encourage him with holding a toy out and getting her face down in line with him. It took AGES (well felt like it) but he rolled down the wedge. I think the same could work on a flat surface. Also, she says for babies who don't like tummy time, carry them around the house in the crook of your arm with their tummy down and head toward your elbow. They need to look up to see everything. Another thing - roll up a towel and place it under his chest, but only make it high enough so that his elbows can touch the ground. I bought this toy the other day (the fisher price snail) and it rolls, has a mirror and makes noise when you touch it. Angus loves looking up in the mirror and I think this toy has encouraged him to do his crawl thingy.
Anyway :tmi: I better get going and make some dinner!
-
Hi ladies!
Beata, Indy has only rolled from front to back a few times and isn't sitting yet, I'm happy for him to progress at his own pace. Before long we'll both be frantically baby proofing
Just going to lay down for a nap with the little dude now, yay!

Hi girls,
Sorry I have been MIA, my little guy has been soooooo unsettled for the past 3 days. He's very whingey and clingy, I'm guessing a growth spurt and/or teething. He has been sleeping OK through the night but hardly during the day....whats new??? lol. Since Wednesday he has been non stop whingey, I try to tire him out so he can sleep a bit more during the day but no luck so far. He's never been like this before, I really hope this is only a phase. We had to miss the gymbaroo class yesterday but made it to a make up class today. He was pretty good actually, but then made up for it after 4 pm, absolute little rascal he was! Just got him down half an hour ago, lets hope he just sleeps now.
I've started giving him the rice cereal every morning now and tried the apricot/peach puree today (should have seen his face, it was a bit sour!!!!). I gave him some banana the other day with the rice cereal, do you think he is adjusting to the solids and that's why he is whingey???? Someone told me that banana and fruit can make them a bit constipated, is that true???
Hi to everyone I am just so tired today after 3 days of non stop cuddles and tears.....
B xxx
-
Beata - sorry to hear Cam has been whingey - not so good. Not sure about other fruit but we were told to avoid the banana as it does make them constipated.
Well, for those who haven't seen my posts on FB - we have had a HELL of a week. We had friends round for morning tea on Sunday and then friends round for dinner on Sunday evening. After evening guests left, I got a call from morning guests to say their son (21 months) had a fever and to watch out for Fraser. Jump to Monday - Fraser extremely unsettled but no fever. Through the night, I was up to him 9 times that I remember counting. On Tues, the lady whose turn it was to host Mother's Group cancelled, so I offered for the mums and bubs to come to ours. Fraser was okay but by mid-afternoon was a bit unsettled again and had a temperature. Text friend with unwell son and she said doctors had said it was just a virus. Had a relatively good night, only up once. When I got Fraser up on Wed morning, he had a rash all over his head and he had a high fever. Wouldn't sleep through the day, so called the doctor at lunchtime and got a 4.30 appt. By the time we got to docs, temp was sky high and rash getting worse. Doc checked him over and couldn't find anything, but said that if his crying continued, to take him straight to the children's hospital so they could thoroughly check him over. Crying got worse so took him in and low and behold, they checked his mouth and it was full of ulcers. By this time, the rash was all over his body. They told us it was Hand, Foot and Mouth disease and there wasn't much we could do but let it take it's course. They did give us some local anesthetic in a tub to try and rub in Fraser's mouth to try and numb it enough so he will feed.
Have had a hell of a few days - he's just constantly crying with pain (no wonder - it looks agony) and not sleeping more than 20 mins through the day and no more than 45 mins at night. It's such a shame.....my poor baby!
Anyway, hope everyone else is well and hope that no-one is going through what we are! xx
-
Oh sweetie, I just jumped on FB for a few minutes and saw your message about Fraser. The poor darling, my heart breaks for him to be in so much pain. Hoping and praying he will recover soon, must be pure hell for him and you!!!! Big hugs hun, and big cuddles for wee Fraser xxxxxxx
-
Massive cuddles for Fraser, and you and your DH! I have a wheat intolerance and get mouth ulcers if I'm naughty and eat some, so I can sympathise with the the poor wee lad, they are painful :( Lots of speedy recovery vibes coming his way.
Beata, sounds like Cam and Indy are sharing whingey days  He was super grumpy for a couple of days at the start of the week. Still no sigh of teeth so we're not sure why. He has only pooped once since Sunday though, which the MCHN said is very normal for breastfed babies. He hasn't started any solids yet and he's still doing plenty of farts and having lots of wet nappies. I was having horrible nurse nightmares of him with a bowel full of hard pebbly constipated poo or an intussusception  Sometimes being a nurse can be a bad thing for your sanity!
Nat, how did Angus like the mashed spud? I can't wait to start Indy on solids and see what he does and doesn't like :D
Hello to all the other mummies and your lovely babies! Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend :)
-
Helen, can I ship Cam off to you for a while?? :p
-
 we can play tag team with our grumpy boys!
I haven't forgotten about a catch-up either, but as the footy is a ruling force in our household it may need to wait until after September :D
-
Ah, the footy.......I have been to 2 games all year :( Yes, we must catch up soon, Cam needs all the mates ATM, no one at gymbaroo wants to be his friend as he is grumpy half the time and makes the others cry!!! ha ha ha
-
Ladies, for those who have the amber teething necklaces for their bubs, which one did you end up getting? I went to amberbebe and there are a few different ones.......don't know which one to get. Also, they are 33 cm long....isn't that too long for a small neck?????? :o
-
Thanks for your kind wishes, girls. It means so much! Fingers crossed we are over the worst of it, but I fear we may have to go back to a bit of sleep and feed training as we're feeding on demand and rocking to sleep.
I meant to add to the previous that the girl whose little one had the fever had HFMD diagnosed yesterday - when she called her friends to let them know (who he had been in contact with) one of the others said her child has it, so that's where it came from. I can't believe that she couldn't have done a call round earlier! It's the first thing I did when we got home from the hospital!
Anyway, enough about us!
Beata - we got ours from Amberbebe and got a dark coloured one (can't remember which one) but I've heard the lighter ones are better! I just wanted one that looked a bit more boyish.
HC - I hope Indy gets a bit better soon! Thanks for the mention of the ulcers - I can imagine it is agony for Fraser!
x
-
Hi ladies,
Wow, it's so quiet in here!!!! Hope everyone is well :p
Just popped in to say my wee man is 6 months today !!!! Woo hoo!!!!
Will be back for persies soon when I have a bit more time.
Take care all
B xxx
-
Hey lovelies!!!
Beata! Yes - it is very quiet in here. Woohoo - Happy Half Birthday Cameron!
Just a quickie. We're going through absolute hell here. Fraser has recovered (I assume) from his hand, foot and mouth, but is refusing milk altogether! It's driving us crazy as it has been going on since Saturday. We thought that maybe as we'd started solids that we were giving him too much (only Cerelac at the moment as that is all his tummy will tolerate) so cut down a bit to the one tablespoon 3 times a day (we were doing two) but it's making no difference. Anyone else having issues? I HATE the fact that we struggle so much with everything. We never seem to get a decent run of more than a week without a major hurdle of one sort or another.
-
Hiya Beata and happy half birthday Cameron :)
Hey Claire, sorry to hear things are out of sorts with Fraser, I wish I had something helpful to add but I don't :( Do you have a good health nurse/GP/Paed that you can hound to start looking into things? What if you stop the solids all together at the moment and see if the bottles pick up over a few days? Did he just stop drinking when you started the solids? Or was it when he had the mouth ulcers.... sorry I wish I could remember.
Hi everyone else - I think a few posts were lost with the forum going down. Hope you're all happy and happy babies too :D
We're doing well here, the little miss is sleeping well which is nice and rolling all over the place, she's like a little firecracker. A cheeky one at that! No teeth yet or any sign of them really either.
-
Hi Ladies,
I was wondering what was going on with the posts because i lost one that i was SURE i'd posted! Oh well, its not the first time i've lost a post!
Adrian hit 6 months on Thursday!!! OMG it had gone soooooo fast! He also started rolling this week and now i cant stop him from doing it! He still cant get from tummy to back though but he's gonna have to learn if he keeps flipping himself over all the time! Still no teeth but gumming everything like crazy! He loves his rusks, though bits of them end up everywhere.
Sorry for the ladies that are having a rough trot :( sending as many happy baby vibes to you all as much as i can :)
DS had his first sleep over a nanny and poppies last night as it was our 5th wedding anniversary. DH and I went out and had an awesome dinner and got to sleep-in this morning! It was fantastic!!!! DS was really well behaved and slept all night for my parents so they said they would be happy to do it again! WIN!!!
Anyway, hope all the mummies out there find a good routine and bubs stay healthy.
-
Hi mummies,
Yes, I think a few of my old posts got eaten up as well!! What is going on?
Anyhoo, happy 6 months Adrian!! Where does the time go hey? Woohoo for Adrian rolling! Cam is still a lazy little boy, he is sort of rolling but with a bit of mummy's help, ATM from back onto his tummy. Forget about the other way around! I was talking to a couple of girls I know who have slightly older babies (aroung 9 months) and they both said not to worry too much if he isn't rolling, sitting up etc yet......he will do it in his own time! I guess they're right!
Mia, so sorry you're having a hard time. I know only too well when things go to poo sometimes despite your best efforts! I remember Cam refusing his bottles and it drove me up the wall!!! I used to stress so much about it, worrying if he was getting enough food. That was before I started the rice cereal and some basic solids. At the time I couldn't just fill him up with something else! Fortunately it was only a stage, but it did last a couple of weeks. Then all of a sudden he was back to normal. So try not to stress hun, if he doesn't want it, don't force it. If he is hungry, he'll take it. I was so obsessive about how many bottles he was supposed to be on, I really drove myself insane and put so much stress on myself. Everyone was telling me to relax and let him lead the way, and when I did, he was more relaxed and so was I. Hope it gets easier for you soon sun, and remember, it's probably a stage he's going through! But, if this continues for a long stretch, go and see a doc hun. There could be an underlying issue. Big hugs!
HB, glad all is going well with Arlee! No tooth bumps here either..........I check regularly :p
HC, go the Saints!!!!!!!!!! Bet you were very excited when they won last nite! Still worried about next weekend though, the Pies are on fire!
Hey ladies, for those of you who have got a high chair, what have you got and would you recommend it? Shopping around for one ATM.
Hi to all the other yummy mummies and their bubbas!!!!
B xxx
-
Hiya ladies :)
There was a BB server meltdown a few days ago, and 2 weeks worth of posts/threads/new avvies/rep points etc were lost - poo!
beata, we just bought the Ikea highchair, it's $35 all-up. Had soooo many good recommendations from ppl and everyone i know has one. And we love it too! It's table-height so you can put bubs right up to the table if u take the tray off, no cushion seams for food to get trapped in..And so cheap! Only thing it doesn't do is fold up for storage - tho it can be easily pulled apart and reassembled. HTH!
Geez, i can't believe we're all hitting 6 months already either! My baby isn't a baby anymore - i think i need a new one ;) hehehe
Mia, i hope things are picking up for lil Fraser :( poor lil guy is having rough trot! Can u try giving the solids a break and only offer milk? Maybe then if it's the only option he'll take it? i dunno, just sounds so frustrating for you guys!
HB - yay for good sleeping! i love that we can see their personalities coming out now too :)
Happy Anniversary Jelly and DH! Your night sounds lovely - good boy adrian for letting mummy n daddy have a relaxing night and morning!
As for us - no toothy pegs yet, and no signs either. Though Blake does wear his amber teething necklace every day, so maybe i won't notice any symptoms??? maybe????? lol - wishful thinking i bet!!
We've just started introducing solids the BLS way, and so far i/we are loving it! It's so easy, and i'm such a relaxed person (read: lazy) that this option suits us very well! So far he has played with, mashed into his tray, sucked on, attempted to feed his neck/eyes/ears some avocado, carrot and pear. I think some of the avocado and pear made it into his belly, but not much. At least he is getting to know food and what to do with it!
And now to brag - blake has decided that he now sleeps from 6:30pm til 6:00am  i am so enjoying this, and hope it lasts forever!!
-
Hi everyone
I am so annoyed because I must have lost my subscription to this thread and I thought no one was posting in it :(
Anyway, can I just start off by saying that I LOVE the stage Angus is at. He is coming along in leaps and bounds! He has been doing the whole army crawl for a few weeks now, but on the weekend he started really pushing himself up on his arms and today he put his arms and legs together, although he was doing a bit of a bunny hop thing and then face planted into the tiles
We've also being doing solids for a few weeks. So far we have tried farex, carrot, pear, sweet potato and banana. He hated the banana and threw it up straight away! He's such a happy boy and laughs and smiles almost all the time :p I love him to bits and can't wait until Wednesday when I take him to Brisbane to see all my family!
He's still not sleeping through the night though and wakes up once or twice. Sometimes he just needs to be re wrapped though. I probably shouldn't wrap him anymore, but he sleeps so much better. During the day he sleeps in a stretchy sleeping bag that doesn't have any arm holes.
Oh yes - and we got a tooth on Friday! This woman at playgroup asked if he was teething cause he had red cheeks and I said no, they are just dry skin. Anyway, later on I had him sitting in front of me (he can't sit on his own) and he started biting my hand and I noticed something sharp!
Ree Ree - yay for the sleep!
Well I really have to go and make some dinner. Sorry I've spent so much time gushing - I will do personals later.
Hope everyone is going well.
Miamunchkin - a friend of mine is having problems with her bub going off milk - but she's not sure what to do either. Have you tried cutting down the amount of times you are feeding him - we only feed Angus at night. Also, do you give him milk first? Hope it gets better!
-
hi ladies.
hope everyone is well
nat - yay for a toothey peg!!! so exciting
mia - maybe offer smaller amounts of milk more frequently and see how you go. also maybe even try a sippy cup and see if that works. i hope everything improves soon
jelly - congrats on the anniversary. hamish was 6 weeks old when our first one came about so we just took him to tea with us. i didnt want to leave him with anyone. plus it was the day after his due date so it was pretty special for us :p
ree - so glad to see everything is great :p
beata - how did your appointment go with the specialist about more ivf?
hi to everyone else
afm, well being back at work has been good. i finally get some adult conversation and i am starting to use my brain again  brain was kind of going to mush being at home and watching FAR too much morning tv and dr phil  i miss hamish tho but its good to get out. i am one of the very few that can say that i truely love my job.
hamish isnt crawling or even commando crawling yet. he is more interested in standing up or trying to pull himself up. i think that he will bypass the crawling stage all together and go straight to walking but my mum thinks that no he will crawl first. if he is on his tummy he looks so funny coz he kicks his legs out behind him and waves his arms about. looks like a turtle trying to swim!!! pretty darn cute really
he loves to bounce in his jumperoo too. tho lately he likes to stand up next to it and play with the toys  means we have to sit on the floor and hold him up there.
today i went and had my hair cut and coloured. gone back blonde and it looks good now. have a fringe now too. will post pics up soon on fb. have a wedding to go to this weekend so that should be good. have a cute little suit to put hamish in :p just jeans and a long sleeve top from pumpkin patch
anyway better go. have to eat something.
love to all xxx
-
Teresa - that's great that you are enjoying your job and got your hair done. Just something to consider about Hamish going straight to walking - my friend was really focussed in getting her daughter to walk and now she Is 11 and has really bad coordination. Also, the gymbaroo teacher says how crawling first is important for kids learning because it connects both sides of the brain or someting. Anyway, something worth looking in to..
Just wondering - with solids, does anyone feed their Bubs straight veg/fruit or do they mix it with farex?
-
Sometimes Indy has straight fruit/veg, sometimes I mix a little Farex into it, if I made the fruit too runny!
-
we're doing Baby Led Solids - i just pop a few sticks/wedges of carrot, avocado, pear, banana, broccoli, wholemeal bread onto his highchair tray and let him feed himself as much (or little!) as he wants :) super easy n fun!
-
ReeRee we're doing BLS here too - very messy isn't it?! But DD loves it and just seeing how much more into it she is in just over a week is amazing! She is a bean addict, funnily enough, and loves cold green beans, will pick them out over anything else on her high chair tray.
How's the sleeping going for everyone? I feel like an idiot for saying it, but it's almost like DD sleeps too well! She's going down now at around 7pm and up anytime after 7am....and is just making it to 2hrs awake then sleeps for about an hour. She's having 3 solid naps a day. Don't get me wrong, it's great, but I'd just love to know where it's come from ha ha I know she's heaps more active when she's awake, and not just physically, you can almost see the little cogs in her brain turning as she is processing so much, so I guess that's tiring too. I think the fact that she is now sucking her thumb, she is soothing herself with it if she wakes briefly and just drifts back off to sleep?
Anyways, hope everyone is happy and healthy, before we know it it will be first birthday times for all our little ones!
-
HB the mess isn't too bad here just yet - the usual food all over the clothes, mushed into the tray and chunks on the floor where the cat plays with it, lol. i just gave him some avocado wedges while i had a ham, cheese n avo toasted sandwich, and he was staring almost jealously at my food, so i tore some toast off for him and he was sooooo happy and chomped away on it. I think he swallowed a teensy bit of avo n toast :)
-
Evening ladies,
How cool we're talking about the solids now!! Had a couple of questions too.....
ReeRee, I looked at the ikea chair but didn't like the look of it :( I ended up getting a steelcraft one that reclines, it goes up and down ans has wheels. It's all the features I wanted, but I bet it will be a pain to clean. I wanted one that was really padded and reclined so if lil man fell asleep in it I'd leave him there. Great guns about Blake having a bit of toast!! I think I'll be doing the BLS too soon.
HB, always so envious about Arlee sleeping so well! What a good little chicken. Cam usually goes down at 7 pm and sometimes goes through till 7 am, but some nights he wakes for a bottle anywhere between 12 and 3 am. Don't get so stressed about it anymore. Day sleeps is a different matter, he has a 45 minute sleep in the late morning and then a 30 minute nap around 2 pm, then it's usually grumpy time till about 5 pm as he hasn't got enough sleep. If I am lucky he goes down for another 30 minutes sleep around 5 pm, and then I give him dinner. The health nurse told me though that 30 minutes is not enough as they don't get the deep sleep :( :( :(
Oh, happy anniversary Jelly! Forgot to say that in my last post..
Nat, Angus sounds so gorgeous! Cam gets constipated from the banana so I don't offer it to him anymore. I've offered pumpkin & potato to Cam but he doesn't like it too much so I have been mixing it with a bit of rice cereal as the flavour isn't so strong then. I did puree the two in my ice tray so will try mashing it up next time and then I'll turn it into little sticks when I do the BLS so he can feed it to himself. Next on my list is carrot, broccoli and apple. I have used the apple and pear in the jars but will stew my own I think.
Teresa, I would also encourage Hamish to crawl first. In my gymbaroo class they said crawling is important before walking. But I know some bubs skip it and go straight to walking!
HC, I finally rang the sleep school and they are booked out for 6 weeks. We are probably going to China in 3 to 4 weeks so I'll miss out, bugger!! There is a lady that comes to you and basically does the same thing as the women at the sleep school so i might give her a call. She costs though, whereas the sleep school is free....
AFM, I am a bit stressed about this solid feeding thing!!! I've only started Cam on rice cereal 7 weeks ago, and have also offered him pureed fruit from the jars, some vallia yoghurt for the good bacteria as he kept getting oral thrush, and some vanilla custard. I have tried pureed veggies last week, first pumpkin and then sweet potato. He isn't too keen on those, so have been adding some rice cereal to it. What do you think about adding a bit of apple to the mix? He seems to like the sweet apple taste. The MCHN told me not to puree stuff anymore and told me to either mash it rough or offer as steemed sticks. When I get my chair (I'll pick it up tomorrow) I will offer him some veggie sticks etc. The thing is, you're supposed to try a different thing for 3 days or so to see if there is any reaction, that will take forever!!!!! Have you been doing this also, or just offering what you eat and not doing this 3 day test? What other foods have you been offering your bubs and in what form? What did you start with and how long did you do one thing before going to a new stage?
Hi to all and hope you and bubs are good!
b xx

Hi Everyone! Just quickly saying hello... I wasn't getting any notifications either!
Solids? NIGHTMARE... She isnt too keen and seems to prefer feeding herself. I might try this BLS idea???
Sleeping? NIGHTMARE... she wakes up every 2 - 3 hours and feeds! I think she is a snacker tbh and I will just have to ride it out until she is older
BUT
She is worth every spewed up carrot mash, every sleepless night :) I am addicted to the snuffly, snorting kisses I get whenever I pick her up and I am still guilty of holding her for day sleeps once in a while because they are just too good to miss out on!

Or Meercat you're just gorgeous!!!! I don't feel so bad now, I love my little cheeky monkey to bits too, grumpy or happy, even when he spews all the veggies I have lovingly prepared for him!! lol
-
I am trying to encourage the crawling. I keep putting him on his tummy and try and put him on all fours. He is getting there slowly. Just prefers to be standing!
-
Teresa, these babies have minds of their own pretty quickly don't they? I have been trying to get Cam to roll, touch his own toes for ages, he's just starting doing this now!! Every baby is different I guess and they will do whatever there is to be done in their own time. I'm sure Hamish will be crawling soon! I guess the world 'up' there when standing is far more interesting than down below! You're doing a great job hun :)
I forgot to tell you in my last post that I went to see the FS and he isn't too worried about the next cycle of IVF....he said that last time I had a great response to the drugs and I was on one of the lowest doses possible, and even with a low dose I had a great number of eggs collected and the cycle resulted in 2 pregnancies so he basically said I will be right next time!!!!! Hellooooooo!!! I have my reservations! lol. You should have seen DF's face, it had that smirk on it saying 'I TOLD YOU SO"! So the FS sent me for a BT which checks the egg reserve (seeing I am no spring chicken now) to see what sort of number off eggies I still have, if the reserve is good, I can afford to wait 6 to 12 months to do a cycle. I get the results this coming Monday......fingers crossed the results are good! If the egg reserve is low, that means that we need to move NOW. That could potentially mean doing a cycle very soon, don't know what would happen to China....

Mummies, I could go on for days about BLS! but its prob better for all of us is you just check out the Baby Led Solids threads HERE lol
Beata - great news from the FS, :crossfingers: the results come back good!! And try not to stress about the solids :) I did a HEAP of research yesterday, and unless there is a family history of allergies to food, you can offer anything and everything to bubs now! EXCEPT honey and whole nuts until after 1 or 2 years (depending on which article you read ;) )
The keys to BLS (from what I understand) is to remain calm and patient, know the difference between gagging and choking (gagging is a natural reaction and nothing to worry about!) and let your baby feed themselves whatever the family eats. No preparing mush in advance for bubs!!! Do not put food in their mouth for them! If they are ready to eat it, they will! They probably won't actually swallow any food for a few days or even weeks, rather they will squish and mash and throw (yay mess!) until they are ready to taste...here i am rambling now! You can see pics on FB of Blake sucking on pear and steak - he looooooved steak!!
Meercat - it is all worth it :) you're so sweet! Snuggles are way too good to give up - i am guilty of cuddling Blake during his day naps too :) oh and i just noticed ur ticker - Happy 6 months Tiah!!
Teresa, blake loves to stand as well (with help of course) but i am encouraging crawling here too :)

Oh my gosh - my DD is having SO MUCH fun squealing. It is almost ear piercing it can get so loud. Yes it's a happy squeal but it is starting to do my head in lol Anyone else going through this?
-
Sure am HB! Indy gets very loud
I don't think I can handle another grand final week wait, please get over the line this Saturday Sainters!
-
Ha ha HB, Cam has been squealing all week too & really sems to looooooove his new found noise!!!! It's so cute to see & hear. It definitely is a happy squeal but he has never done it before until a few days ago!
HC, this week is gonna kill me. I cannot understand why they can't have the same rules as soccer, rugby etc when it comes to ties in the finals!!!!!!! I seriously thought they were gonna play the extra time, and when they said they will come back next week I almost fell off my chair!! DF had some tickets which were so expensive but for standing room only, glad we sold them to someone else!!!!!! Are you going next week??? Did you go on Saturday?
ReeRee, thanks hun!! I feel a bit more relaxed now about the solids. Today he got a bit of bread, turkey & cheese from our brekkie (tiny amounts though...). From what age can they have cheese?????
