DH coming tomorrow now - i guess that's a bit of a help. the fact they've been rained off and we don't get paid kinda sucks though!
not sure if we'll have another kidlet EVER - but we've decided to just let nature take it's course - so if it happens - yay!
in the process of sending all my pics/vid from phone to laptop - way more on there than i realised! lol
-
Jacinta - Congratulations sweetheart! Jamie is going to make such a cute big brother. I can't wait to be pregnant again. I actually miss that big fat baby belly! :)
Amy - I hope Phoebe has a great time at the creche tomorrow. I did work experience in a child care centre in year 9 or 10, and I remember that generally all the kids had a good time. I can only remember one incidence of crying and it was when one kid accidentally fell on another, oops! Good idea to start off with a short day though.
Nicole - Best of luck at the ct scan tomorrow. Will you be getting results straight away? I hope so, because I know the wait must be terrible! My thoughts will be with you xoxox
BG - I'm glad that E had a better day today. It's just horrible when they are fussy and don't seem to know what they want. I hate it when Kyson is upset and wants to be held, but when he's in my arms he's crying and bending his body like he's trying to get down, but if I put him down it's like the world is coming to an end! My thoughts will be with you too tomorrow. Fingers crossed that E realises that she's up early and decides to go back to sleep on the car trip. Can you maybe pop her into her travelling clothes tonight if you do a nappy change, and then just give her a quick feed and into the car in the morning? Maybe she won't fully wake up that way? Hmmmm, even as I wrote that I have come to the conclusion that if I tried that with Kyson it probably wouldn't work...
Nicky - I saw on fb that you are super tired. Are those kiddies of yours still causing some nighttime grief? I've only just got Kyson to sleep properly tonight. Well, he's been put to be 3 times, but woken up very distraught (I hate teething), so I gave him some more bonjela and some panadol and he seems ok now. I'm sure he'll still wake for his 11pm feed though even though he got an extra feed after his bedtime tonight!
Vic - I think the first birthday is more for the parents benefit than the baby's, lol! Having said that though, I'm still planning on throwing me, oops, I mean Kyson, a first birthday party, hehe.
And yup, apparently I walked at 8 1/2 months, so Kyson has missed out on beating me ;)
Nay - Lol @ first birthday cake slam shot! I'm soooo planning on letting Kyson just go wild with his cake. Hmmm, I wonder if I should have it made with a little less suger then...
Thanks heaps for the promotional work you are doing for me ;)
Ooooh, did you end up passing on your rak? Is it just a coincidence that Cathy now got rak'd, hehe. Oh wait, shhh, it's anonymous :D Hmmm, have you noticed that it sounds rather rude?
Hi to everyone else!
I might try to do another post in a sec if Kyson doesn't wake up...
-
Most important news first! I have a walking baby!!! Kyson is now taking steps (rather than just "step", lol).
Video of Kyson walking
It's sooo true that all babies develop and hit milestones at different times. Kyson seems to be walking pretty early, but he has no teeth yet, and he's not saying any "real" words. Sure, he makes some "dad dad", and "mum mum" noises, but I don't count them as words because he's not associating them with us yet. I was in no rush for him to get teeth, but now that he's kicked the teething up a notch I really hope they pop through soon!
Now I'll spill the beans as to why I changed my username and all the secrecy... I've just changed my signature so it doesn't have the a.k.a. in it anymore so people can't google my name and find my posts...
So the secret is that DH and I are in the process of planning to ttc for number 2, but we may not be taking the natural path. We're currently going through the early stages of IVF (tests and counciling) with the plan on having PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis) to avoid having a baby with a genetic condition that is present on both sides of our families. I hope it's not rude or mean if I decide not to divulge what the actual condition is... We've got our fingers crossed that Kyson is not affected (he's too young to diagnose) but rest assured it's not life threatening.
I was thinking about keeping the whole thing a secret even on BB, but it's such a new experience (and possibly a difficult one at that) that I thought I might need the support from the lovely ladies on this forum. We've decided not to tell any family or friends IRL though (besides my mum who helped us with Kyson at a couple of appointments). We figured that we don't tell people when we are planning on dtd to make a baby, so they don't need to know about our ttc journey for number 2.
So far I've had my first visit with my IVF specialist consultant (he was absolutely lovely), DH and I have both had blood taken for tests, I've had a pelvic ultrasound, DH has had a sperm analysis (donating sperm at 8am before work was fun for him, lol), we've had our compulsory IVF counciling session, and next Wednesday is our PGD counciling session with the geneticist and genetic councellor. The week after that I have another appointment with our IVF specialist which is when I think we find out if we have the green light to go ahead.
The main reason I feel that I need to keep things a secret is I'm worried about us being judged by people. I even brought up with the specialist that I sort of felt guilty about seeing him for IVF when I'm able to fall pregnant naturally, but he was very quick to remind me that we are doing it for legitimate medical reasons. I told him I felt guilty that I might be taking up his time and resources that someone else should be getting, then he asked how long it had needed to wait between calling for the appointment and seeing him. It was only 1 1/2 weeks (AND he only works at the local clinic once a week...) and he told me that if there was a huge waiting list for spots then there was no way I would have gotten in that quickly. Hmmm, see I still feel like I have to justify it even now while I write...
Well, at this point in time I'm really hoping that everything goes ahead and I'm pretty excited about it. I know it's not going to be a walk in the park, but I'm sure I can walk this path. If you've gotten through my rant, then thanks for reading :)

Krystie - I am honoured that you trust us to share this news with us, and I hope that we can live up to your hope that we can support you through this - you know that we are here for you all the time and the ups and downs of TTC whether its the old fashioned way or AC brings happiness, stress, worry, but hopefully reward at the end of it all.
From an IVF perspective, I won't lie, it is the biggest emotional rollercoaster I have ridden (pre Bailey being born of course hehehe), but you have ALOT of people to support you, those of us that have been there might be able to add some insight and support you on a different level, but either way, I wish you the very best of luck and baby dust.
Personally from my experience, I think its a good idea not to tell too many people as from our experience I found it hard dealing with needing to 'update' people on what was happening, or dealing with suffocating sympathy, or a bit of ignorance. Its a time when you just have to focus on you, DH, Kyson and your goal. Anyway, Sean and I were extremely lucky to conceive Bailey in our first round of IVF, I know this is NOT the norm, but whatever your journey brings, any questions, support, venting, crying on someones shoulder that you need etc ..... I am only a phone call away. We were very lucky that our best friends (and Bailey's god parents) also went through IVF and were the most wonderful support to us, and I hope to pay that support forward one day.... so anyway, thanks for trusting us with your TTC journey, I hope its a speedy one mate
Nay
x
PS - Kysons walking video is GORGEOUS, what a clever clever little boy you have there :)
ETA - Oh I meant to say too, there is NO reason that you should feel the need to justify your reason to take the IVF journey, there are many reasons couples choose to go down this route, and yours are just as legitimate as every other couples :)
-
I meant to make mention of our current Wonder Week in my earlier post and forgot....
This is isn't too bad at all, Bailey's napping is a bit haphazard and he has been a bit out of sorts, but it seems quite 'tame' compared to some or the wonder weeks we have experienced (or wonder fortnights as a few seemed to be LOL)
Also, I reckon the amber teething necklaces are awesome, I really think they work
-
Krystie: LOVE the vid of Kyson! He has such a beautiful smile and looks like such a happy little soul.
As Naomi said, I really hope we can be a good support to you as you embark on this journey. I understand your reservations about sharing, and about being judged, but your dr is right. A week and a half's wait is nothing. (FWIW, the dr I'm working for does public and private clinics. The wait for private is about 4 months, and for public it's about 8 months.) Plus, whether or not people choose to go ahead with IVF has nothing to do with you... There are a whole lot of philosophical arguments people can make for or against IVF. Really, the only person who needs to feel comfortable with your decisions is you. You know your reasons, so be confident babe. We would be honoured to support you as best we can. xx
And PMSL @ RAK sounding a bit rude. I have always said Naomi has a nice RAK...
BG: I really hope today goes as well as it can. Will be thinking of you.
Nic: I will be thinking of you too today. I hope the CT goes well and that everything looks favourable.
Nicky: It ain't going to be me either, LOL! I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Vic: Isn't your DH lovely to get you some yummy chocolate!
Yes, even though it's been raining it is still mighty sticky. The rain just makes it worse. But it has been great for the dam - lots of rain over the catchment which is never a bad thing.
Phoebe cracks me up. Have any of you got a Tivo? There's a menu screen with a shaded red background and one with a shaded green background. Phoebe doesn't pay attention to the TV very much. She looks up every now and again when the Thomas theme song plays. But if she happens to see either menu screen her face just lights up and she grins from ear to ear! This morning she was giggling at it and I brought her a bit closer to the screen to see if she'd give me an indication of whether it's an icon or something that she likes, but nope. She just loves the colours, I suppose. It's so funny though. Like watching telly for the ads.
She has started shuffling on her hands and knees now. Inching around very slowly without any technique, but I guess we can call it crawling :)
-
K - thats awesome good luck xoxoxo i had a feeling that was going to be happening go kyson walking already :)
Jamie is 9 months today off to take pics with his teddy lol
-
K - like the others, i'm honored that you've chosen to share this with us. there is no judgement here. and there never will be. and please don't ever feel you have to justify your reasoning. you are making a decision to follow this path, and you deserve, and will receive, nothing but support from us. please know, if you need support off the boards, i've had a lot of dealings with friends going through PGD (as well as my looooooooooooooong and extensive AC journey) so i'm happy to help in any way i can - even if it's just a chin wag in FB chat or something.
ooh, and i forgot - YAYAYAY!! for the walking vid - so cute!
Amy - how's the job going? sounds like you're settling in ok
Nicole - thinking of you and hoping today wasn't too traumatic forr you all - hope you get results soon
AFU - tired tired tired. so proud of my bubba though! she was her perfect little self. slept most of the car trip there (after she realised that YES, mummy AND daddy were with her in the backseat) - woke when we stopped half way for a cuppa, then had to be woken when we got to the funeral. would have been fine to stay inside with her if the church was better equipped, but no speaker in the second room we were sitting in, so i took off outside with her. so very well behaved though. slept on the way home as well. she has been so very good though. disappointed with the send off - T wasn't religious but his wife was, so she made it too much based around her church - and people just couldn't hear what was going on - i think he deserved more - but it was her decision. oh well. we went. we paid our respects. that's all we could do
-
hes going feral lol he bit me 3 times today and i have no idea wat to do ive been trying to keep the dummy away during the day maybe i should give it back and hes turned velcro all of a sudden when hes never been like this i think he knows not sure but since i found out yesterday hes been weird ''
sorry its all about me but ive never been good a persies coz i never know wat to say but i love u all xoxoxox
-
You girls are all so sweet that it brings tears to my eyes (literally!). I'm so glad I decided to tell you all. Gosh it feels like such a weight off my shoulders. Hopefully after our appointment on Wednesday I'll be able to give you all some promising news :)
BG - What a little angel you have! Isn't travelling with a baby much easer when they decide to sleep the trip away? Kyson slept the entire way to Gold Coast which was awesome. Even though he was such a good boy on the trip home, it was much more difficult with an awake baby. Sorry to hear the send-off wasn't all you hoped it would be. :(
PS. Your explanation of the cc rebate etc on Nay's fb was amazing! I've been told to look into carer's allowance because of the extra care that I put in for my eldest DSS's ADHD, so I put in an intention to claim today and within 20 minutes a lovely lady called me and talked to me about it! I was amazed how quick it happened. Not sure if we'll get anything, but I figure it's worth a go :)
Amy - It's funny the things these bub's like isn't it? Kyson loves the sound that the sci-fi channel logo makes as it's returning to a tv show. It sort of makes a "briiiing" noise and his head always flips around to look at the tv if he hears it, lol!
Jacinta - Maybe Jamie is hitting the same wonder week as Bailey? Is he starting to learn something new? I thought Kyson's bad sleeping at night was due to his teething (which is probably still affecting him), but I now wonder if a part of it was because he was learning to walk as well...
Nay - Ahhh you're a sweetheart. I'm not 100% sure what I might be getting myself into in regards to physical and emotional effects, so it's great to know I have "back-up" if I need to chat. I'm sure my body is just going to loooove the drugs *dripping sarcasm*. Most meds make me ill, even panadol makes me a little squeemish, lol. The good news is that while the estimated success rate for someone my age is about 50% per cycle, my doctor is estimating that my chances are probably closer to 60% or higher due to having proven fertility with my two previous pregnancies, and also because DH has proven that his swimmers have learnt freestyle. I hope it all works first go, because I'm really not even contemplating the "what if" at the moment... oops.
-
Krystie - Completely with the other girls. No judgement at all here. I really hope the your IVF journey is a quick one and that you can be blessed with another beautiful bundle.
Wishing you all the very best and if you are happy enough to shar, I'd love to hear all about your journey.
Hi girls!
Been out at strength training tonight, and I'm stuffed. Not alot of shut eye last night, but no idea why. Hubs got up at 4am to watch the bl@@dy nascars.....
Kids are going well. Allira's perfectly fine. Still no teeth, but the lumps are there, they can only be week away now.
Argh, that's about it for me... time for some shut eye.
Will pop back tomorrow. (sorry for sucking majorly with persies lately).
-
maybe walking it could happen lol any ideas on how to stop him from biting me?
-
Sorry for no proper persies tonight. Will def come back tomorrow when I get some time.
Krystie- NO judgement here. We are all here to support you in anything that you do. I can relate on the genetic thing though. I want to say something, but I want to word it right, so will think more, and write tomorrow. It's nothing bad, so don't stress.
BB tomorrow.
-
Krystie, I just want to wish you all the luck on your IVF journey I too have no judgement against this path.
I hope your journey is short and sweet and supporting you all the way to a BFP.
It can be tough and gets you both mentally and physically but hell I would do it again...bring it on...if only I could get my DH to agree I sort of need his help
Thanks for all your thoughts ladies  Aaron's CT went well today...boy it was FAST!!! SOoooooo much faster than the MRI and no sedation needed just mummy singing to him...so missed my calling...NOT!!!!
So now we wait hope to get some news this week but as they say no news is good news
Aaron thought he was a NB last night going back the 3 hourly feeds...could not believe it but after talking to Bridg agree that it must be a growth spurt cause he has been having about 4 sleeps during the day for last couple of days!!
Anyway of to catch a few Zzzzz who knows what Mister sleeps will be like tonight.
-
Hey Girls!
I'm having a rough night here...Cara has been crying a lot tonight and seems to be teething badly...I gave her some panadol (I've run out...those bottles are so tiny). So she only got a tiny bit of panadol. Can't find where I've stuck her teething necklace (or mine) either..arhghhhh. She's not sleeping well again...wonder week?? Learning to sit up and try to crawl (still rocking on all fours) must be doing it too.
Have I been RAKed?? Ooh that is exciting!! Made my day! :) Thank you to whoever RAKed me!! Woohoo!! How do I get the funky avatar...I can't seem to work out how to do it on here..arghh. They are so cute.
Cara is sitting up!! I have seen her (esp tonight) sit up from the crawling/all 4s position about 3 times tonight!! So excited for her! Trying to get her to clap too hehe. I have been putting her little hands on my face, then bringing them down off my face to 'clap' hehe. She should start that soon..I remember the other kids doing it around 8-9mths. Plus she'll be pulling to stand up soon too.
Krystie: Kyson is walking! So exciting!! I love the video too! And with your ivf decision, you have to know we are always in supportive of whatever you and your family want honey. :) All the best!!
JwithJ: Congrats!!! OMG!! How exciting!!!! LOL@Jamie biting you...maybe he knows you're pregnant hehe
BG: Glad to hear Miss E slept well on the trip. So sorry for your loss. :(
Naomi: Your little guys smile never fails to brighten my day! Laura is often asking "who is he Mum?" hehe. Good to see another bub with a necklace hehe. I feel bad I forgot Cara's when I went to Seaworld, the other bubs had them on!
Bel: Nice to hear how your first time selling baby wraps went. I am sure business will be booming soon!
Amy: LOL@Phoebe! Cara will stop whatever she is doing if she hears the Mickey Mouse clubhouse theme or Special Agent Oso (Laura's two favourite shows). I am sure she remembers them from in the womb!!! (Yasmin would stop what she was doing when the Home and Away theme song came on when she was a baby..we even have video of her almost falling sideways to turn around and see it). If someone is in Cara's view of the tv, she will move her head to try and watch!!! ADDICTED! already!
Nicole: Glad to hear the CT went well. I hope it's good news for little Aaron.
Everyone else, sorry, I'm just buggered.. xoxox to you all.
-
morning all!
sorry to hear others are going through some sleep issues as well - E has been, since we started solids, feeding three hourly overnight again. it mostly doesn't worry me - she lets out a bit of a yell to say she's awake, DH deposits her in bed, we doze while she feeds, then he puts her back into bed - so no one really loses any sleep (some morning one of us won't remember the feeds - zombies!). i think it would be a whole lot worse if she was distressed and not resettling though. hope these bubbas can get themselves in better sleeping habits overnight soon! us mummy's need a break lol
K - i'm sure you'll go over a lot with the doctors and stuff, but if you need to talk, i'm happy to chat with you. have been supporting a couple of friends through PGD recently so have discussed it all at length with them if you need to talk it out. medico's are good but the time they have for you can be a bit limited - i'm available to waffle 24/7 if you need it lol (and yes, i do mean all day - have had melt down text messages at 3am and gotten myself out of bed to help friends through tough bits)
meant to say earlier too - hope that whatever the genetic issu is that you're trying to avoid using PGD hasn't impacted Kyson at all. i think sometimes the waiting to know is harder than knowing for sure. how old will he need to be before you find out?
go for the Carers with the ADHD - if he requires extra care then you should get it. even if his doctors report doesn't deem that he requires enough additional care for the payment, there is a secondary level of Carers where the child gets their own health care card (helps with cost of meds and treatments he may require).
Nic - so glad there was no sedation needed for the CT and that it went off without a hitch. we're all here for you if you need any support. which reminds me - most of us have shared mobile numbers for support/meet ups/melt downs over slow cookers (hehehe sorry Vic - i had to!) - i'll PM you mine. hoping you get some feedback soon on the results
Bridg - read your update on FB about the scan - hoping you can get some answers soon. i know things must be full on at the moment for you so wanted to publicly thank you for taking the time out to PM and chat with me about the eye specialist while you have so much on your plate. you rock hun!
Cathy - Cara seems to be doing really well. she may not be crawling but is coming ahead well! E won't sit herself up from being on her belly yet - but she's a lazy trout like that! she commando crawls or rolls everywhere, will walk if she is standing on her feet - and can sit herself from some positions, but just doesn't seem that interested lol. this little group here have shown just how varied baby development is. we've all hit the wonder weeks at different stages (but hit them hard in some cases), crawling, walking, teething, talking! i guess it's a good thing to see that all bubbas are different like that.
well, i'm gonna have to get organised soon. E has been asleep for 10 hours(with brief 10 minute feeds in there) - so she must be tired from yesterday. we're heading out with mum for the day (was supposed to happen yesterday) to see some of her friends that haven't seen the baby in weeks/months and are hanging to see her. not my idea of the funnest of days, BUT, it gets us out of the house and reduces the cabin fever just a smidge. mum is picking us up at 10 so E best wake up soon lol
we're both a bit pink from the sun yesterday (damn our fair skin) - her's isn't too bad cos she was kept in the shade all the tiem - mine - well i have patchwork sunburn. after the missed sun screen spots on thurs (thanks mum) i have spots on my arms and back of my neck - yesterday i think i got sunburnt through the car window - but just on one side of my neck and chest lol. stupid sensitive sin hehehe
-
Hah Amy - my RAK was so much better when I was BF - PMSL. Bailey was really interested in TV when he was a newborn, but it didn't last long but now he seems a bit interested again. I usually put it on in the bedroom most mornings and lie on our bed with him playing while I watch sunrise - he gets excited by Kochie's finance screen (it is pretty colourful LOL). Maybe he'll follow me into financial services one day hahahaha. I think you are right though, anything colourful certainly attracts some interest. We got given a whole heap of kids DVDs from Seans cousin and I put a Barney one on the other day and played a whole heaps of songs - he loved it, was bopping along and 'singing' - very cute. Good on her for her shuffle-crawl, she's on her way....! LOL @ "stick a fork in me", you are a crack up along with your beautiful daughter! PS. Get some more photo's up on facebook of the girls you slacker, I mean its not like you have two kids, a job, a house and a husband to look after .... :D
Congrats on Jamie hitting 9 months Jacinta - he's been in the outside world as long as he was in your belly :bellyrubs:
BG - you can always rely on E to have a fantastic day when you need her too, she really is a trouper and such a beautiful baby. Cheers for the CC rebate etc explanation - you explained it beautifully, cheers for that! I think I just need to register for it now so one more Q - we dont start CC until mid July - how far in advance do you need to organise it with CL? Take care of that sunburn - I'm a pasty skinned gal too, I don't tan, I just go red, then back to pasty LOL
Nicole - glad the CT scan was over quick and not distressing for Aaron, fingers crossed re waiting on the news, hope it doesn't do your head in babe, waiting can suck, try to distract yourself and keep busy so you dont worry about the results (great advice, hard to follow though hey?). Definately sounds like a growth spurt, hope you get some larger blocks of sleep soon babe
Bridg - glad the hips showed up clear - BLOODY HOORAY!! :leap: How are you travelling beautiful? You've had an awful lot on your plate of late and you are one strong and tough Mummy - I think you are awesome :)
Oooh, I'll be right back, I just realised what the time is and I need to chuck Bailz in bed for a nap before swimming so he doesn't do the 'snore-stroke' in the pool LOL
-
Naomi - you can register for child care whenever you want in advance - as long as you're registerd within four weeks after starting. all it will do when you register is give you your percentage - from there you grab all of your CRN's (yours, DH's and bubs) and you'll put them on the forms to register with child care - the CC will then tell you how much you have to pay each day...
E has been awake about 20 mins and has been into everything - think she is making up for being restricted so much yesterday!
ooh, mum's here - time to run!
-
Thanks BG - I'll register in advance so its done (one less thing to worry about at the time!!)
Cathy - Yaay re Cara's sitting. I've been trying to get Bailey to clap for a while, but he'll only clap on top of my hands LOL - crazy kid. Re the avatar - everythign you need to know is here https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...atar-faqs.html - Cant wait to see your Avi image!
Better run, swimming starts in 10mins and gotta get the little guy outa bed, lucky the pool is literally 3 mins away hahahaha
-
Hi girls! How is everyone?
Just popping in to ask some advice.
I'm actually just wondering what your little ones' diets consist of?
I feel like Allira is stuck in a rut - Same old things day in day out.
Would love to hear how many meals and snacks your kiddies are having, along with how many milk feeds and what foods they are eating at each meal time.
-
Krystie- What I wanted to say last night was that it’s good that your going down the IVF path to prevent this bubs from getting any genetic conditions. How clever of Kyson! Look out now! You should be able to get carer’s allowance for DSS.
Nicky- No more bubbas from me.
Jacinta- Congrats on number 2! It will be so exciting to be there throughout your pregnancy. Re the biting, I don’t know what to suggest there sorry. Maybe ask your MCHN next time you go.
BG- Glad to hear E was well behaved and I think T would have appreciated that you guys went. Sending some sleep vibes to miss E and you. I was more than happy to pm you about the specialist. I know how scary it can be with not knowing what’s ahead.
Cathy- Sorry to hear Cara hasn’t been sleeping well. Sending sleep vibes your way. xx
Naomi- Thanks hun. Yeah I’m ok. Have been very busy. Seems like there’s not enough hours in the day!
Nicky- Here’s a roughie of Logan’s day:
6.30am- Wake up.
Bottle
9am- Brekkie (farex or weetbix) and bottle
Sleep
12ish- Lunch (fruit of some sort)
1ish- Bottle and sleep
4.30ish- Tea (Vegies)
6ish- Bottle and some of my dinner.
7.30ish- Bottle and sleep.
10ish- Bottle and down for the night.
If he’s hungry in between, he might have a dry biscuit or some yoghurt, but normally he eats that much at each meal, that it gets him through. His bottles vary from 100ml to 150ml. HTH hun.
AFU, Well Logan’s hip u/s showed nothing, so we are back to the Drs on Monday to work out what’s next. His 8 month developmental assessment at the MCHN didn’t go so well. Because of his vision, he is behind, so we are looking into some physio and/or OT so he doesn’t fall too far behind. He now has 2 teeth down the bottom. His left one is through more than the right one.
-
Nicky - 4 BF's most days for us, occasionally 5. So around 7ish, 11ish, 3ish, 6:30ish (if there is extra tends to be in the arvo). I try to give variety but not sure do that well, not giving snacks at the moment (MCHN said should be 3 BFs, 3 meals and snacks - but I prefer to keep up the BF) unless I eat in front of her then give her something (rice cracker, sultanas, carrot or cucumber).
Breakfast - Porridge is her favourite (just the rolled oats and cows milk) made fairly thick so grab by handful, often have fruit with this, cherries, nectarines, anything have to hand really. Kids Weetabix she quite likes too, normally give some fruit with it.
Lunch - We eat our main meal at lunch - so whatever I am having (spag bol, lamb tagine with cous cous, chicken and stir fry vegies, lentil dahl with rice). She is really good with lumps now so just whatever.
Tea - We normally eat salad for tea, so sometimes I make CJ eggy bread (mix spinach into mixture too), or she has some salad (cherry tomatoes, spinach leaves, baby corn, beetroot) and tuna or salad and cheese with us. Toast with hummus or avocado sometimes. I tend to have a few sticks of sweet potato, carrots, asparagus always in freezer so give those at tea sometimes too, and broccoli.
-
Oh and got the all clear from the paed, CJ's head is big but due to the size of mine and DH's (she was really pleased I took his measurement with me) and CJ's behaviour, nothing to worry about. If there was a spike and she stopped following her own curve should go back and see her but otherwise she thought was fine. Hooray. $125 dollars down but at least have had it checked.
Gotta go - she is eating the inside of a toilet roll!
-
Vic - awesome re CJs head, so she just has a big noggin like the rest of us hehehehehe
Nicky - AWESOME question, I some get in a bit of a food rut with Bailey, so hearing what the other bubba's are eating gives me some new ideas - what's Allira's milk and solids day like?
Bailey's is a bit like this atm... (it seems to evolve every few weeks as he develops)
Wake up about 6ish - Bottle then falls back asleep for an hour
7ish - Wake up for the day, Solids at 8am (Either a piece of toast, toasted hot cross buns, porridge or fruit eg peaches)
9ish - morning nap, morning bottle at 11ish
12-1230 - Lunch, usually vegies with grated cheese followed by yoghurt (two courses)
3ish - snack (eg cruskits, watermelon, baby rice crackers)
5pm - Dinner - 2 courses (usually something like tuna mornay, shepards pie or chicken in apricot nectar with pasta), then fruit (occasionally with a bit of custard) for dessert
630pm - Evening bottle and bed, asleep by 7pm
We just dropped his afternoon bottle (3pm) as he was not drinking it and he is now finishing his other bottles so I am making up 180ml now. So only 3x180mls of milk for the day. Not a massive snacker but eats pretty big meals, but like the others, I tend to offer him a taste what I am eating if I think he can handle whatever it is. I am a bit of a nerd in that I have big cook ups every few weeks and freeze a whole heaps of things into ice-cube tray portions (eg veggie medleys, and the dinners as above) and I find this ensures I have a variety ready to go - just gotta chuck them in the microwave and *bang* dinner's ready..... Once Bailey is out of his brace and we are able to use our highchair we plan to have dinner all together (currently we wait till he's asleep and eat about 7-730)
HTH babe
Just had a delicious lamb roast followed by an apple and blackcurrent pie that my Mum brought over this arvo - Yum! I feel the need to open a button or two LOL Better go clean up the kitchen I s'pose!!

Hey girls!
Nay: Yummo! I lurve pies - sweet or savoury, I don't care. They are God's food. Open up the button - you may fit in another slice ;)
PMSL, yes I realise I am falling behind in my online commitments. I am even struggling to look at the photos you guys have been posting of your little cuties. Promise I will find a couple of shots to post in the next couple of days.
Vic: Great news re CJ's head. Worth spending the money just so's you know all is well, eh? And LOL @ CJ with the toilet roll. Phoebe has a penchant for cardboard too. Natalie has a play kitchen that came with little boxes of pretend 'frozen food' and they are always littered about the place. Phoebe helps herself. I have had to pick chunks of cardboard out of her mouth on several occasions now and she gets VERY cross with me for it.
Bridg: Re the u/s showing nothing, does that mean he is in the clear, or that it was inconclusive? Hope he's in the clear :) Sorry to hear Logan's behind in his motor development. I think that OT's are brilliant. I hope you find someone you're happy with and that they can offer you and Logan lots of helpful tips and advice.
Nicky: It's hard, isn't it? I'm trying to vary Pheobe's diet because I want her to be a better eater than Nat (and I know you're in a similar position) but sometimes it's easier just to give her what I know she'll eat.
Like Vic, I offer the main meal at lunch. She usually has meat and/or veg mash (or spag bol, or caserole) for lunch because she is the most interested then, followed by some kind of fruit eaten with her hands (e.g. watermelon, rockmelon, strawberries, apple or banana etc). Breakfast is usually half a weetbix with pureed fruit, but occasionally porridge. Dinner is finger food, either steamed vegies or salad with ham or cheese or bread/toast, followed by yoghurt or custard. She doesn't eat a lot when self-feeding - usually just takes bites out of things and drops them to pick up the next thing, which means she ends up sitting in a massive pile of food!
Milk: when I am home she has a breastfeed early in the morning (anywhere from 3-6:30am) then one before her morning sleep, one before her afternoon sleep, then one before bed. Sometimes she will wake for an additional one around midnight. Sometimes she has an extra one in the afternoon after her sleep before dinner, but this is rare and only if she's upset or unsettled. When I'm not home, she'll have a bottle before each sleep and some nights she has a bottle top-up after her last breastfeed (if she's being a bit of a pest to settle). Once she's up for the day she's not really interested in milk - she just wants to jump into breakfast, usually.
Hope some of that waffle makes sense!
BG: I think it is so cool that your DH helps out overnight with E. I am so glad that Phoebe has been sleeping better of late (crap, I hope I haven't jinxed myself ) because my DH does crap-all overnight. Sorry about your sunburn. I'm another who burns easily and has incredibly pale children, particularly Natty. I have gotten her burnt on a couple of occasions and just felt awful, but sometimes there's nothing you can do. Who'd have thought you'd get burnt in the car, for goodness' sake?!?
Cathy: Looking forward to seeing your avvi! Very exciting re Cara's sitting up and LOL @ being addicted to telly... I don't know what I'd do without telly in this house.
Nic: Glad Aaron's CT went well. Hope you get some good news, and a better sleep tonight.
Hi Krystie, Jacinta, Kat, Bella. xx
Phoebs was a bit of a bugger for my mum today. Only had one sleep at around 12:30, for 2 hours. She flopped into bed at 7 tonight, but I'm hoping she doesn't think this is her second nap and wake for a play at 9! Natty was great but was so tired she fell asleep on the 20 minute trip home, LOL! I think she has gone to sleep for the night too, so I am a free woman for a bit. Phew!
The job is going well. There is a lot to remember and I know I'm just going to have to plunge in and do stuff in order to learn it. It's scary, but it's also interesting and I am working with nice people. I met the boss' wife today (she is the practice manager) and she is lovely. I am on 3 months' probation, but I really hope things work out. I would like to stay.
Having said that, I miss my babies :( I have to pump at midday each day cause I get very lopsided thinking about them, LOL! (My rightie is pretty much kaput these days.) I get a good bottle-full and put it in the fridge. Today the boss' wife went looking for milk for coffee and pointed to the bottle in an unspoken question and I said, "Nah, I don't think you want that one in your coffee!" She cracked up when she realised what it was. She's very supportive and we chatted a bit about feeding. She's a mum of three and it was nice to feel so relaxed about it all, even though I know my 'rights' and whatever, you know? Hope I'm making sense - I'm dog-tired.
We are headed out to buy another car seat tomorrow so we have 2 in each car (DH will drop the girls off and I will pick them up, so we have to sort this out). I think I have my head around the new laws coming in in March, but Natty is so little I don't think we will have to think about a booster seat for at least 6 more months. She's only 12kg and a real shortie.
I think I need to head off for a shower and a relax. Wish I could have a bath but that bathroom is right next to Phoebe's room and I really don't want to wake her. Will come on again in the morning. xx

i just realised i probably wont be able to come to the meet up hmmm 37 weeks i think a drive in the car wont be very fun but any of u can always come visit me :)

Thanks so much for your replies girls!!
Allira :
Wake : 8.30am
Bottle around 15-20mins afterwards (to avoid an association with waking up = immediate bottle)
Brekky after bottle - usually toast ( or whatever Lachie is eating that she can steal). Think I will try weetbix.
Snacks are usually fruit, rusks, arrowroot bickies on the very odd occasion, yoghurt etc.
Lunch - spag, or some sort of tinned creation if we are out or just flat out busy.
3pmish (depending on sleeps) bottle
Dinner - is usually whatever we eat... or I'll chuck some vegies in the microwave to soften them a bit. Then followed by fruit salad or yoghurt.
Bottle about 30 mins before bed.
Bed 7.30pm
I cannot eat without her having anything... becuase she goes spazz! She tries to steal her brothers food all the time if she's not confined to the high chair.
She will soemtimes have a bottle overnight... sometimes she sleeps the whole night.
Her bottles are still 210mls and she drinks all of them most of the time.
I'm dying to be able to give her scrambled eggs etc. I haven't given her any cows milk (apart from yoghurt) so might get some weetbix in there on the odd occasion and see how we go.
Thinking about doing sandwhiches for either lunch or dinner.... she's fine on avo or hommus sandies, but nt sure about ham etc. Are you girls feeding the littlies ham and lettuce and things like that? She should be right... but she's still got no teeth. If she had a couple of teeth I wouldn't be holding back.
Argh... these kids are testing me tonight and tag teaming. Keep waking every 30 mins and whinging for no real reason. Hubby is sick too, so it's going to be an awesome night for me.
blah.

i gave jamie scrambled eggs the other day and he loved it :) no reactions
-
Nicky - With the Weetbix I keep it relatively dry so is easy for CJ to pick up in big chunks/globs, in the beginning I just had normal Weetbix but now have the kids one as has less salt in it. CJ has had a little bit of ham, and she likes all salad leaves haven't tried in a sandwhich just on their own. Ham I haven't given her that often because a bit wary of salt content, but salad leaves am always giving her and she just used to suck and gum them fine before she had any teeth. I am not sure the teeth are that much help anyway maybe in tearing stuff but once in her mouth as only at the front she is really chewing with her gums rather than using the teeth.
-
Jacinta- Maybe you could have bubs in Melbourne, and we could have our meet up at the hospital??? I'm sure the nurses won't mind. :D
Amy- Glad to hear you are enjoying the job. Fingers crossed it all works out, and with the boss and his wife having kids, they will be a little more understanding. Logan goes back to the Dr on Monday, and I'm guessing he will want to do some sort of other scan, or he might wait til we see the Pead on the 16th March.
BG and Amy- I'm another who fries when I go out in the sun, so I feel your pain.
Vic- Logan uses his bottom teeth (his only 2 teeth) to tear things, and bite chunks off things, and then uses his gums like CJ.

lol bridg i think its a bit far ballarat is already 125kms

Just a quick me post and will BBL.
I got a call yesterday to advise me that Aaron's neuro has had a look at the film and is happy to wait and discuss further next Friday.
There is also mention of another MRI but I am not too sure when he wants that done.
I guess if the fluid levels were changing and there was anothing a bit suss he would see I sooner than next week...but who knows....the waiting I guess will continue....
-
Nicole - thats sounds positive, I think you are right, he would want to see you earlier if he had concerns. Hope you are going ok :)
-
Nic: Sorry that you have to wait some more. But like Naomi said, that sounds positive that he's happy to wait until your appointment.
Nicky: I give Phoebe salad and ham. She pretty much just has a nibble/suck and then drops it and picks up the next thing. I don't think teeth make much of a difference either. Phoebe has two teeth, but they are only on the bottom, so it's not like she's got opposing teeth that would help with biting/chewing. Her gums are still doing all the work.
Bridg: Ah. Ok. Hoping the appointments go well, that the next lot of tests are conclusive and that they're clear.
Jacinta: Sorry, forgot to reply re the biting. Phoebe pinches and it really hurts. She leaves me with little bruises on my arms, boobs and neck. I have been taking her hand away and saying, "That hurts Mummy". I also try to model gentle touch, praise her when she touches gently and remind her to be gentle when she touches (we use the word 'gentle' but you could use whatever word you like, I suppose). I think that at this age that's pretty much all you can do.
The context in which he's biting gives you a sense of where he's up to socially as well. Does he bite as a sensory exploration? Or is he biting because he's frustrated that you won't let him do/have something? I would think at this age it's really just sensory, in which case he'll stop as soon as he realises he's hurting you. If its a 'tantrum' thing, then I'd be more inclined to use the word 'no' and use it firmly. That's my personal view though - I really don't like aggressive biting and I would try to stop it in it's tracks as soon as I could. But as I said, I would doubt very much that that's applicable to Jamie. HTH.
-
it happens when hes trying to climb up us either when were sitting in a chair then he gets our legs and if wereholding him he bites our neck he does it to DH too so its not just me lol i think its a frustration thing

Hey Ladies
I typed a really long message here late last night, then it wouldn't work!! ARghhhhh so annoying.
Cara is definitely getting her top middle teeth!! Poor baby. No wonder she's been misearble. They are bulging and ready to break through! That will make 6 teeth she will have! At least I found the teething necklace again (in my bag). Do you ladies leave it on them when they sleep or not? I've been taking it off, but then I forget to put it on again. Got her some more panadol today if it gets really bad. Usually she's fine with the tablets or gel.
Naomi: I bought 2 packets of those colourful foam letters today...LOL. Laura is having fun with them spelling words out. When I get around to it I'll take a photo with the word Cara etc hehe. I might wait til she hits 9mths. That can be her 9mth photo..though not sure exactly WHEN she is 9mths as february is a short month lol. So hard with a 31st birthday haha. I guess it will be the first week of march. Thanks for the info on the avatars too!! I have put in my order to the lady..she is swamped at the moment from RAK lol..so have to wait 2 weeks. Hope all 4 kids fit on there!!
Nicole: I hope things go well for your next appt with the neuro.
JwithJ: How you feeling? Any nausea yet?
BG: Hope the sunburn is better....I am a lobster in the sun like Amy hehhe
Bridg: All the best for the next appt for Logan.
Amy: The news laws with the booster seats..is it the side impact ones we need to have? I think that is right isn't it? Or are they requiring 3 point harness? I haven't looked it up..I guess I should google it. Cara is 3, but she is as tall as a 5 year old!! 20kg too...and I needed to get a seat belt extension thing to clip in, so the seatbelt could fit over the booster seat (my seat belts semm short...dumb for 2000 model car).
Nicky: Cara's eats the following rougly;
Brekkie; Rice cereal mixed with mashed up banana and water. If I have no bananas, I use a goulburn valley mushy fruit thing or fruit from baby bottle.
Lunch: Toasted finger or two of vegemite or some avocado spread on it (when I can afford the avos..they are like $3 each lately!)
Sometimes for a snack: Watermelon in the mesh bag..or a banana or cruskit Depends if she has a big arvo sleep
Dinner: Veges, and whatever is on our plates. She loves brocolli, carrot, pasta. Doesn't seem very keen to eat meat off the bones yet..but trying. Also give her very fine chopped up steak or mince sometimes.
Gtg Cara is getting into mischief....might get my playpen out soon hehehe

Cathy, I think the new laws are actually just common sense, but they're enforcing the correct use of child restraints up to the age of 7 years old now. (So it's a fine-able offence to have your child in an incorrect restraint, plus you lose 3 demerit points.) If you go to the QLD transport site the information is very clear.
They are saying that 4-7yos now have to be in a booster. Natty is small though, so she'll need to stay longer in the forward-facing restraint before she can move up into a booster (I really doubt she'll weigh 14kg until she's at least 4yo... unless she has a big growth spurt this year). If Laura is tall and weighs 14kg, she can go into a booster earlier. (They are too tall for their seat if the back of the seat is at their eye level.)
I'm getting conflicting info on the booster seats though. I've heard that you have to have them in 5-point harness until they're 7, which I now read isn't the case - lap/sash is ok with the booster. I've also heard that you have to have an anchored booster, but I can't find that in the new laws either. I know that anchored boosters are much safer, so we'll probably go for one of those anyway... At least with Natty being small we have time to save up for one.
-
nope no nausea but it didnt start last time till a bit later :) i found someone on BB that lives near me wooo hoooo lol
-
Yeah I just looked up and got a bit confused as well. I'm just wondering if the foam boosters are still ok with the seat belt? She is a big girl, not like your Natty as all hehe. I might have to use the safety harness with it. Maybe some tv shows will explain better what it is all about LOL
-
JwithJ: Oh yeah I remember it started around 6 weeks with me. And the bloating!! I LOOKED pregnant then. That's when I tested. I didn't feel pregnant at all til then. I was in total denial.....I had been exercising and been sick too..good reasons for a period to be late LOL. Cara's pregnancy was the only one I didn't feel pregnant almost straight away. I guess my body is just used to babies by now LOL
