Hi Everyone
Quick post from me, while I've nicked laptop of DH and waiting for A to wake up sp we can go visit more rellies.
Tiff - Welcome back, glad to hear everything went well with funeral......well as good as can be under the circumstances. I agree the funerals always seem to go better than expected, think it's the emotional buildup before hand.
Caplay - Sorry to hear about your MIL, I lost my dad in January. Alycia is our first baby, she was induced 10 days early due to reduced movements (why I'm a stalker in here :) ) and arrived after 5hrs 9 mins.
A big hello to everyone, hoping your little ones are all happy & healthy and you are enjoying all your baby cuddles.
Well A has been a trooper travelling, she slept from Adelaide to Horsham which is about 4.5hrs from Adelaide had a feed stop & nappy change then she slept till we got into Melbourne to do some shopping at a DFO - had a feed there and then lasted till we got to my MIL's down in Trafalgar. Thought she might be bit of a nightmare being in a strange bed & surroundings but so far so good, Colic is still being an issue but if I keep on top of drops she's a bit better and settles, well settles better than the screaming episodes that have been lasting ages the previous couple of days.
-
Traylee - posted same time :)
A has been in her own room & cot since we brought her home and sleeps in there for both her day time & night time naps when we are at home. She makes so much noise in her sleep I'd never get any sleep if I she was in with us. Her room is really close to ours and we can hear every noise she makes from our room, so don't even use the baby monitor.
-
wow ok yea see scarlets is right next door also,
how does she sleep in there, im thinking she may sleep better in there, hayley was in our room though till she was about 10 weeks old, but scarlet is 4 weeks old so i thouight might be to soon
-
Traylee - As I posted yesterday, B has just started going in his own room, still in the basinette though. We started putting him in there for day sleeps a few days ago to get him used to it but he's been no trouble and in fact has settled/slept better (that may just be coincidence!). And DH and I have slept sooo much better (DH sleeps through the monitor, even though it's right next to him and turned up full volume!).
Phoenix - A sounds like she handled the travel really well! Sorry to hear the colic is still an issue though. We seem to have lucked out with B and colic so far - we've had a couple of episodes, but nothing too bad :crossfingers:. Do you think the drops make a difference? What's in them? B is always unhappy until he does a fart or poos though - a massage or 'colic hold' helps a bit but sometimes he takes ages to get it out!
AFM - B slept again after his 4:30am feed (Well, from 5:45am) and didn't wake til 8:30am! And...
DH and I got our first real smiles this morning!:leap::confetti::leap:
Question for bfers: How are your bb's now? I realised this morning I haven't used the Lansinoh all week, though my nipples are still really sensitive. I still leak though and get really sore and hard if B doesn't feed for awhile. I heard that they 'settle' after awhile, but no sign of that here! B is still up and down with feeds though - sometimes 2.5hrs, usually around 3 hrs, and around 4 or 4.5hrs at night. Sometimes he takes one side but usually both. I assume all this is normal - what about everyone else?
-
Hi all.
I have a quick question for everyone What have you been dressing your bubs in in this cold weather??(bonds suits, fleecy, etc) how many blankets do you have on them etc??? been 7 years since i had a winter baby last 2 been in the summer just curious to know thanx in advance.
I will pop back later for personals sick toddler and newborn busy morning.
-
Traylee - another one who has bub in his own room, he has been in there since Day 1...well day 3 when we came home from hospital. I was a little scared at first as the midwife at the hospital said I would be up and down like a yo-yo to him...but touch wood the most I have been up to him is 4 times in one night and 2 of those were for feeds and the others due to wind...as soon as he brought it up he went back down. I swear heaps of my friends think I am so hard arse having him in his own room, but whatever works for you. To be honest I can still hear him in the monitor so I am not worried about that, the monitor has been turned down the past couple of nights as I found it was too loud and could hear him farting and what not a bit too much and feel ok about having it turned down. I can hear him crying from our room without the monitor on anyway...just gives me peace of mind!
I was just putting him up there in the night but he is now going in for his morning and midday sleep. His afternoon sleeps I am trying to get him to sleep somewhere else ie swing, playmat, on the couch next to me but am struggling a bit. We are attempting to follow a routine and have Tizzy Halls book Save our Sleep (sorry for all the gentle parenting mumma's who dont agree with routines) and she recommends this so they get used to going to sleep in places other than the cot. To be honest we are struggling a bit as she recommends not to swaddle and DS wakes himself up all the time. I also have the Baby Love book which I refer to for whether things are normal. I admint I am a mumma who likes to know what is coming next and it seems so does our little man. And also I am hoping he gets the hang of sleeping through sooner rather than later....I realised this morning I only have 7 weeks before I have to go back to work....it is going too quickly! I am envious of anyone who gets to be a SAHM!
-
im not fussed during day sleeps, she sleeps on couch next to me while im on here or cleaning or wateva,
i prefer not to have them in a room during day as my aunt did this for all her daughters sleep, her daughter always went into the cot, and then never slept anywhere else but the cot, even at other peoples houses during night f they went out or anything so she would always leave, hayley slept on couch durig day also or floor as she rolled lol, and in room on a night and she slept anywhere and stll does she was great so i wanna stick with same kinda thign (doesnt mean scarlet wll be same though)
troy still thinks scarlet to young for own room, but i shouldnt complain im only trying to help him since he has her 90% of the time on a night in his room lol
-
Traylee- P sleeps in our room. She starts the night in her cot but usually ends up in bed with us at some stage. I couldn't imagine putting her in her room yet - she just seems too little to me. I will prob move her around 6 months. During the day, she sleeps wherever. Just curious do you and Troy always have separate rooms or is it only while you are recovering from surgery?
Caplaylolmay - Phoebe wears babysuits or normal clothes, ranging from cotton to fleecy depending on how cold it is. She also has two piece pj's for bed as I find it easier to change her in those at night. She always wears a singlet or singlet suit under too. I wrap her at night in a flannelette wrat and she has a sheet on her bed folded in two and a blanket folded in two.
Super - I have save our sleep too, but havn't read it yet. I will get around to it!!
Phoenix - Sounds like you have a good little traveller! Glad you are having a good trip.
We have just had a day at home. P has wanted lots of cuddles, which is lovely and T has just pottered around playing and watching a movie. Really should attempt to do some cleaning though!
-
ok, round two of the personal posts (fingers crossed internet does not drop out on me AGAIN!!).
Caplay - welcome! Zen is my first and I would say only bub, he took us 6yrs to have with quite a few hiccups along the way. Labour was vb, spontaneous. started with 1/2hr contractions 6.30am-11.30am then went straight to 5min apart. got check up at 3pm at local hospital to be told fully effaced but only 2cm and would be a while. At 4pm decided I wanted drugs, went to Ipswich hospital, arrived in emergency carpark 5.10pm, in birth suite and being looked at at 5.18pm, waters broke 5.20pm and Zen arrived 5.36pm :)
Phoenix - was about to whinge about Zen crying last two days from about 8am-3pm (unless feeding basically) then read you are having colic issues :( hope it all settles quickly for you.
Traylee - we have a mobile home that we built an extension on so because it makes it split level with two sets of stairs we are currently using the sofa in teh lounge (plus its next to the open fireplace!) and Zen was in the bassinet in his room (off the lounge) but we now use the bassinet in his pram so it can be propped up and it is easier to swaddle him and not have him wake when he startles as it is a more snug bassinet. I also let him sleep in his bassinet during the day, or in my arms, or on the couch :) we do alot of visiting, travelling, camping etc so want him used to a variety of sleeping places.
JLeigh - nope, sorry, Zen has a heap of hair, but blonde so not overly noticeable. its rather common for them to lose hair ina patch. (or so Im told).
Tiff - sorry to hear about your GD, happy that he got to meet your latest addition first though.
SSM - oh no, I dont know how you could manage going back to work - the very thought makes me want to cry with tiredness! I am lucky that I can do the stay at home thing. In fact, with the cost of childcare and with living rurally, I would need to earn at least $1000wk to make it worth me going back to work!otherwise I will just sit at home and get the allowance paid to parents who do that (no, not the single parent payment!)
Hi to Erin, PMCcask and everyone else.
AFM: Zen is having really unsettled days but the upside is that he is settled for the afternoon and evening. It feels a little stressful during the day for me but I presume (pray!!) it is a faze and he will grow out of it. Had midwife checkup yesterday. After putting on 230g in the first 11days he only put on 20g in the last week :O we will wait till next week and see how he goes. he eats well and regularly so midwife was not concerned.
people were discussing nookie: me, I cant wait but it is still a little 'messy' for us to do that...we are going the condom route as well while I BF as I looked up as much info as possible on birth control and its the only one that doesnt pass through to bub. Stupid yucky things...cant remember the last time i used them! But REALLY dont want number two on the way so 'tarp up' is the house rule
-
marnicat, no we always separate rooms lol, well we never use to, but last few years we have, just makes it easier, i snore and move around in my sleep and he breathes heavy and annoys me, so its easier this way, alot of couples do it now as is easier on you so you all sleep well and stuff, i dunno just works best for us lol, sounds like we r old married couple, (oh wait we are lol)
we have been together 13yrs now lol along time
on a good note we get to visit each other lol, we have our own separate space, he has his pc in his room so doesnt keep me awake
-
Caplaylolmay - B has been getting around in Bonds Wondersuits, or the equivalent in other brands - always with a singlet though. He gets wrapped in a muslin wrap and has a blanket (doubled) for day sleeps and a flannelette/warmer wrap and doubled blanket at night (though we have the heating on at 20 degrees at night so it's not that cold. Hope your little ones are alright...
Traylee - The separate rooms sounds like a good idea - my parents used to be in separate beds in the same room but now mostly sleep in different rooms. DH and I have been together 13.5 years too (feels like forever!)
TinaR - Don't worry about Zen not gaining, I'm sure he'll catch up! Sorry you're having unsettled days - I'd be exhausted after a day of grumbles! PMSL at the 'tarp up' comment! I asked DH what he wanted to do about birth control and he said with our odds of conceiving we probably don't need to do anything plus would it be so bad if we had another one straight away! :o
Marnikat - Hope you resisted the urge to clean and enjoyed your day of cuddles with your girls!
SSM - 7 weeks isn't long at all! Are you going back full time? I don't even want to think about work at the moment, but have to decide if I'll go back next year (though only 1 day/week).
I hadn't even considered trying to get B to sleep in different places - we just wheel the bassinet wherever we want it (or he sleeps in our arms occasionally). I can see the merits of getting him used to sleeping in different places though, so will have to try it.
-
with u wheeling the bassinette round we use to do same with hayley, this one doesnt have a holder so we put it on ground raised up with the books one end, or in my room its on a toybox lol,
but yea sleeps in lounge during day, where i am, its good, with you wheeling it around u will find that helps cause there is noise, and if they get use to noise now that helps them sleep anywhere to i find, so its good to be noisy and get them use to it now lol
-
Tina - Happy Birthday!!!! I hope that you had a great day and Zen was a good boy for you! As for contraception I think we will prob use the mini pill cause we 'forget' with the condoms...
JLeigh - I got the house clean when P actually let me put her down to sleep. I feel better now.
Traylee - I hope I didn't come across as it being a bad thing, I was simply curious. I've quite often wished that DH slept elsewhere but we don't have a spare room so it wont happen!
Better go and shower while I can! Have a great weekend everyone!
-
Oh my goodness, so much to catch up on! :)
I have already forgotten who is what i so I'm going to reply in subjects today, hope you don't mind! :D
Contraception - When the time comes we'll be going back to condoms. I don't like using anything that keeps me from getting a regular AF (ie injections, implant, IUD etc), I NEVER remember to take the pill and it also keeps things a little cleaner.. IYKWIM ;)
Clothes - I have been putting H into wondersuits at night and during the day a lighter all-in-one suit or pants and top, although today was a lot cooler than it has been so put her in a fleecy outfit, then I didn't have to use a blanket while we were inside. Also at night I use a double thickness flanlette wrap that it quite big so gives her a few layers when she's completely wrapped.
Travelling - H is a great traveller!!! I am so happy about that as T is also great in the car and we go to SYD so much (which is a 4 hour drive) I really need the kiddies to travel well. I only had to stop once on my way and from SYD the first time, then one stop on my way back down, but on our trip home she was having a very unsettled afternoon so we got half way before she woke, then just didn't settle for the rest of the trip and still didn't settle for a few hours after I got home, but I figure we're all entitled to a bad day!
Smiles - I hope you're enjoying beautiful smiles from your little people... The bubbies that are a little young, I hope you get your smiles really soon! H has such a gorgeous smile, I will never get sick of seeing that smile!
Bedroom arrangements - H is back in her own bed now which is in her own room. She only gets in with us for her morning feed, which is lovely as when T wakes we have family cuddles before starting our day (we've always had the same morning routine, just great to have another little one to share it with!).
DTD - Hmmmm I really don't feel like it, but I do want to get into the swing of things sooner rather than later as I think poor DH is thinking things are going to end up the way they did after I had DD#1 (due to the extensive damage I sustained during her birth we couldn't really DTD for about 12 months!!!). Things are nothing alike this time and I know in just a couple of weeks we'll be right as rain to get back to having some adult cuddles. I just need the 'all clear' from my OB with all the 'retained product'.... Also I haven't stopped bleeding yet so, hmmm not nice!!!
Well I hope I have covered everything. Nothing to report here, alls well.
Have a great weekend all
-
I like the way you posted Tiff - makes it easier to reply that way, cos I have been reading, just not posting, o never get the time. So busy all the time. As I'm sure you all are, and don't know how you're all keeping up!
As for E sleeping, this will be his second night back in his bed, which is in our room still, it's just easier for feeding as he wakes every 3 - 4 hours. So far so good. Plus it's nice to be able to move in bed, and not worry about squashing E or waking DH during feeds so much.
We haven't been able to DTD yet, as I'm still bleeding - just a little mostly during the day now. I want to, and DH is climbing the walls...lol. Hopefully by the end of thus week we'll be ok. We will be using condoms, I don't like artificial hormones, they make me moody and gain weight. Plus I forget to take the pill. Lol. DH wants to get the snip, but I can't see him doing much about it....he doesn't really like doctors.
I have been putting E in wonder suits most of the time, unless we are going out. He is usually wrapped in a blanket, and at night have been covering him with 2 - 3 blankets. Plus the one he is wrapped in, it's getting colder lately.
He gets bathed every second day, as it's too much to do it everyday plus he doesn't really need it everyday.
A big hello to everyone, I should probably go to sleep as E will be waking in a few hours for another feed. So I'll be back when I can to update again soon! Take care wonderful mummies.
-
marnicat, i was offended at all or thinking u meant it was bad, alot of ppl ask, and for us to be so young its weird but it works best for us lol
hubby started things last night without a condom i was like ahhh um i was thinking about continueing but i was like we better use one, so put one on, stupid thing came off lol half ay threw lucky he noticed only thing was TMI it was stuck up way inside i had hard time getting it out but i eventually did lol, and he put a different one on,a better fitting one we have to use non latex ones so looks like only ones we can use are the avanti durex ones he thought it was funny i didnt cause i had to fetch and find it was grose lol
anyays sorry to grose you all out i hope you all have a wonderful day
oh to the suits im in hervey bay and i use the wondersuits all day long and she has prolly 3 blankets on a night, im havent bathed her alot she hates the bath, but she likes showers, but i dont shower or bath her alot as i got told once a week is enough, but im gonna start doin doin it eveyr 2nd day also like i did with hayley
-
Traylee - I don't think I could wait a week to bath E. He gets smelly from spew, sweat and his bum needs fresh water every now and then too. Every second day is good tho. My DH has thought about setting up a single bed in C's room for him. Just incase it gets too hard to sleep in here. But I said it won't be long til E is in there anyway.
-
yea good idea to the bed, i wanted soemthign in her room when i put her in there so i can feed her in there change her on change table and putback to bed, cause atm cause she is where ever we are we change ehr when she is just stick a towel under bum lol, she has a habit of peeing eveyrtime i take off nappy lol this morning though it was all over my bed lol didnt use the towel oops lol, its so hard to wash her cause she hates the bath and its so bloody cold lol i think this morning ill try bath in the laundry sick it miht be easier, or put her in a bath with hayley for 2mins while i wipe her over and clean her, i spose maybe the more i bath her the more she may like it,
-
I take E in the shower too, it's just easier. Especially when DH helps me. If I really need to I put the change table in the bathroom and lie him on there with just his nappy on until I'm ready to wash him. I have only given him a bath twice. It's hard to wash him tho, it's very slippery, but with a wash cloth it's not so bad. I just usually give him boobie to calm him. He is getting used to it now.
-
good idea, its to cold here for that though she screams wen clothes come off lol
-
Bathing - Zen loves the bath (now). He screamed the first couple of times but now I make sure I have absolutely everything ready and the water a great temp and I do it near the fire so its warm when he gets out. I find he settles really well after the bath. To wash him in the shower would require DH help as currently our shower and toilet block is about 30m from our home :( I cant just wheel the change table up with me lol
Nookie - we had a little go at it last night but I wasnt feeling all that comfy and just when I did 'get into the swing of things' Zen woke for a feed lol...oh well, I told DH we will wait one more week to make sure everything is settled properly. Poor man. He has been wanting 'proper' nookie since I was pregnant (we had very gentle nookie the whole time cause of our history with pregnancies)
Sleeping - Mr Z is outside with me at the moment soaking up the sunshine. Today seems a better day - no screaming so far :) he is possibly due for a feed so I expect him to start any time now.
Birthday - thanks for the birthday wishes :) I had a day with Zen screaming which wasnt fun.DH brother came out for a while which was nice and I had plenty of FB, email and texts to wish me a good day.. DH bought me a laminator (i wanted one!) and I spent an hour laminating our photos etc to put up on the walls, cheaper alternative to frames.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend xo
-
Morning all,
Qu about bleeding, if you don't mind - If this is TMI for you to answer I completely understand! Are you still having bright red blood or settled down to the browish or yellowish blood for you now??? I only ask as I don't really remember from DD#1 and with the 'retained product' I was bleeding a lot more in the beginning, but only as more was coming away, so the flow would slow down, then pick up again ever few days when more was coming away. I am still having days that is a light flow of old blood, then getting my days that have bright red blood, so I just want to know if its normal or if it is likely that I still have product in there (which will mean a D&C after my 6 week check). I was having a lot of cramping in the early days when more was coming away, but not having that anymore... I just want to have some idea what is happening in there!!!
Ok... Going to run, H is fast asleep in bed and T is playing happily, perfect time for a nice relaxing shower!!!
have a great day all
-
mine was on and off for for the first 3 weeks, stop start from light to thicker and so forth, i had a few clots drop oiff in toilet and thought on need a pad then nothing would come on it lol
i think its different with eveyrone, as with hayley i bled for 6 weeks i think, well close to that mark
-
Afternoon all.
Tiff- i have also been wondering about the bleeding i had the PPH after birth and then i have had hardly any bleeding at all some days nothing but what you are describing is the same for me aswell i had nothing but old brownish blood not much just abit here and there then yesterday it turned bright red blood again it has got me baffled as i havent had this with any of the others after birth last time i didnt really bleed just lightly for a couple of weeks i was also hoping there is nothing left in there i havent had any cramping or anything though but when i see the bright red blood again it scares me cause of the heamorige i had.
Bathing- we bath May every second day as she is the same gets abit smelly of spew and all she loves the bath now first couple she didnt but is happy to lie back and relax in the water now.
we are the same tina we have the open fire so i do it all on the kitchen table right near the fire our shower is way out in the cold part of the house.
Tralee- May is the same everytime we take the nappy off she pees you can bet every time she will do it then i have to change everything no wonder i have so much washing.
AFM- Still travelling quite smoothly here May seems to be getting abit more wind now then usual but abit of infants friends seems to do the trick unless it is really bad.
I am having a quite weekend at home rainging here so good day to be indoors.
:hello: to everyone else
takecare
-
Oh ok, good, glad I'm normal!!! I really don't want a D&C!
Bathing - We too bath every 2nd-3rd day. We generally have only gone the extra day due to being so busy (with going back and fourth to SYD and everything we did down there etc). H is a bit of a spewer so gets that spewy smell too!
I have finally written my birth story too if anyone wants to read... Its long so I completely understnad if you don't have the time or want to read it! Just thought I'd let you know! :)
-
I just posted my professional preg pics on FB if anyone is interested.
Also updated H and T's pics on there.
-
Hi all. Just sitting here watching Happy Feet, trying to get E to sleep. He is not settling very well tonight. But I'm nit feeling well either. I have a temp, it went up to 37.7 earlier. I have to take some panadol with codeine to help. My muscles are aching, got a headache and it feels like the flu, which is what it felt like last time with Cooper, when I had masstitis. So tomorrow I've got to get more panadol, and then go to the Dr on Monday. I just hope it's from lack of sleep but somehow I doubt it. I haven't exactly been taking care of myself in the food sense. I haven't been eating healthy :( it's very hard to do that. I have also been having sharp pains down my right boob. So hopefully with plenty of rest and water I won't need to go to the Dr, but we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Speaking of boobs, for all those breast feeding, is anyone noticing that one boob is bigger than the other? I noticed it, but not sure if I'm the only one...I don't know if DH has noticed, but it's really annoying. Lol
I really need to have a shower and try and express both sides and see how that goes too. I've heard that cabbage leaves help, but I think that's just to soothe sore swollen boobies, not for medicinal purposes. Lol.
Ok well nite nite mummies and hope sleep is nice to us tonight! Xox
-
Tiff - I added you on facebook! :-)
Sleepy - hope you are feeling better soon, doesnt sound nice! Hopefully E settles for you - would be aweful feeling ill and having an unsettled bub!
Tina - hopefully little Zen was more settled for you today.
Baths while I remember - I must be the only one who baths bub everyday, is that bad? Except fridays as we have family dinner and there is not enough time LOL! H loves his bath and it is part of his daily routine, he loves his bath and massage (mostly done by daddy upon his return from work). Although he is nearly out of the baby bath already - he hits hit head when he kicks his legs against the end of the bath! H hates being cold so we purchased one of those cheap heaters and turn it on in bubs room while the bath is being run...by the time bub gets undressed the room has warmed up and bub is more comfortable and also applies after bath when he is getting massaged, once dressed the heater gets turned off.
DTD - I am keen, still have some brown ickies but it is only a tiny bit on a pad some of the time, maybe next week! I am feeling the urge and have no pain so I guess why not - DP will think all his christmases have come at once LOL!
Does anyone else have issues with (TMI) number 1 leaks! I am doing my exercises but they dont seem to be working LOL
-
Baths - We bath every day here as well. Sometimes twice. But usually she is just taken in the shower with one of us. P seems to prefer the shower to the bath, loves the water running over her!
Bleeding - I am still off and on. It was pretty much gone last week and yesterday started up quite heavy and red again? I don't know whats going on but I wish it would stop.
SSM - Sorry I cant help with the leaking. I had it a couple of times in the first few days but that is all.
-
troy said scarlet getting better on nights with sleeping lol so thats good,
during the day she only seems happy sleeping in the bouncer lol its old style one with mesh to so i let her. annoys me a bit at times i wanted her to like it like her big sister liked hers lol but she hated it at first but now its like the only place she will sleep during the day lol.
i have music on now doesnt seem to bother her either so thats good usually the tv is on lol
she is having 120mls now to finally so that will make clinic nurse happy
-
hi all
sleepy - hope you manage to clear the blockage, I had recurrent mastitis with A and it wasn't fun. Antibiotics 4 times, and finally got put onto ultrasound therapy when she was 8 months, never had a problem after a few sessions of that. Hopefully it won't get to that for you, but keep it in mind as I'd explored so many avenues (even had visual ultrasounds to check for reasons for constant blockage) then the clinic nurse mentioned she'd read a recent article about u/s therapy and it was the solution for me. I fed A happily after that till she weaned at 14 months. Sorry to digress! Don't think the cabbage leaves do anything for blockage, just help with engorgement. Oh and my right boob was bigger than left the entire time I was bf A, then they went back to the same when I stopped feeding. Now the same is happening. I guess my right either makes more milk than the left or isn't as good at draining. I used to think it was how A sucked but obviously it's me!
Baths - we bath or shower everyday too. It's part of A's bedtime routine so we started it with E from day 1. Hopefully she'll figure out that it means bed :) Last 2 nights we've only had 1 feed in between 8pm and 6:30am so maybe it's working!
Still bleeding very slightly but almost stopped I think. Fingers crossed! It's weird because I only had 2 cycles in between having A and getting pregnant with E, as A weaning happened about the same time as I fell pregnant. I'm not used to buying pads!
Settling - I'm having a bit of trouble settling E without using the hugabub or walking in the pram. She doesn't just drift off if I put her down drowsy but awake like all the books suggest lol. I know they're all different, and A needed teaching to self settle fairly harshly as she was a VERY awake baby, but any suggestions of things that work for you would be great!
Hope you're all having a good w/e.
-
lol im same, scarlet wont go down anymore droswy, i try i even try dummy but no wont have it, has to be in her bouncer or us holding her, but mostly bouncer she is happpy with now, on a night she isnt bad for troy he said, she has her bottle and goes back in ok, but maybe she knows day time is different already im not sure lol
she slept from 4.30 till really late last night, i went to bed 8.30 and she still wasnt awake, troy said it was really late, i walked past room at 1 and he was watchign tv and had the bottle behind him empty, then i heard once more in between then she woke at 6,
so not to bad he said
-
Hey, love the idea of replying in topics!
DTD - I wouldn't mind, but am still bleeding, not to mention tired! DH seems keen though...
Contraception - We don't want condoms so I think it'll be the mini-pill. Will have to speak to the ob about my endo though, because before we were ttc I was taking the pill full time (no period) for 5 years. They say preg is a great treatment for endo, but I don't want it coming back!
Baths - We bath every day as part of B's bedtime routine: feed, bath, massage, cuddles, bed. He settles really well afterwards and most of the time for longer - we've had 5.5hrs the last couple of days! He hated them at first, but really likes them now and looks so relaxed. DH and I always bath together and it's my fave time of day. We want to take him in the shower one day soon though... Oh, and we have ducted air con/heating so always turn that on before bath time so it's nice and warm in his room, otherwise he shivers when we take his clothes off!
Sleepy - Hope you don't have mastitis, it sounds very unpleasant from what I've heard.
Tina - Happy Birthday!!
traylee - B loves noise! He's slept through heavy traffic, vaccuum, mower and whipper snipper as well as TV, phones ringing and shopping centre crowds! That's gotta be a good thing!
pmccask - I wish I had some secrets for settling! I've just handed B off to DH to settle as he's been very unsettled all day. He hasn't slept for longer than 10 minutes (though we're up to 15 now so he might finally have tired himself out!) and is feeding every two hours, then crying/grizzing non-stop, even if he's being held! If he's really upset, a dummy stops the really loud cries, but won't put him to sleep. Sometimes he'll go to sleep from drowsy; sometimes he feeds to sleep; sometimes he will self-settle from wide awake; sometimes he'll fall asleep only if he's being cuddled and sometimes he'll sleep if he's in the pram! The midwife said to remember the "5 S's" - swaddling, sucking (your finger, a dummy or boob), side hold (lying flat against your body with your arm along his back), swaying (or rocking or in a pram) and shhhhhing (slow and loud enough to be heard above their grizzles/screams). Hope that helps!
Question - Tell me about the drops etc that you guys are using - Infacol, gripe water, Infants Friend etc. Do they work? What's in them?
AFM - As I said above, B is unsettled today, but yesterday was an angel. I went shopping and he slept for 6 hours in the pram, with 10 or so minutes awake and crying while I changed him - he even slept while he fed!

Well I had an interesting morning. Phoebe did a huge projectile vomit everywhere that involved a shower, it came out of her mouth and nose - very gross! Then as I was trying to get both of us dressed and she was screaming, Tiana ran into the corner of the hallway wall. I then had 2 screaming children when the phone starts ringing. I finally got us dressed and ice on T's head. She now has a very impressive bruise and egg on her forehead! Luckily the rest of the day has been uneventful.
Tiff- I saw your preg photos, they are gorgeous. T's hair is so long! Was she dark like Hadley as a baby?

Wow it's been busy in here, I've just read it all to try and catch up and like Tiff's idea of replying to topic too :D
Bathing - another that baths/showers every night as part of her calm down night routine. She loves the bath and also the shower. DH does the bathing & showering - midwife in hospital suggested the showering as a way of DH having some skin to skin bonding with her. I've bathed her a couple of times but going to have to practice in next few days before DH goes back to work.
Sleeping Arrangements - A has slept in her own room sine we brought her home but our place is sooo small and her room is central in the house and there is no escaping everyday noise so with the TV, washing machine, vaccuuming and me crashing around in the kitchen she sleeps through it all. Her hardest sleep to get her to settle for is the last one before we go to bed and we think it's coz it's too quiet lol. She also has no issues sleeping in pram while out & about and in the car.
Bleeding - mine stopped after three weeks, I did get concerned when after a few days of brown it went back to bright red but then I had a huge clot come away and it all finished a few days after that.
Bladder control - I've got some issues with that but it seems to be getting better, very very slowly, just got to remember to clench my pelvic floor or cross m legs if I can feel a sneeze coming on or a cough. Have to be especially careful on a fuller bladder - I wear the really light "lady pads" for a bit of a safeguard and hate it but better than not wearing them, especially if I'm out lol.
BF Boobs - They have started to settle but after A's long night sleep they are rock hard and like soccer balls, I still leak but don't have it running out like I used to.
Wind drops - I've been using Infants Friend, I had bought a bottle after trying the Brauers one and was happy that it was what Paed was going to recommend for us to use. It does seem to be helping, A seems to have less issues at night when her wind really used to play up.
DTD - Am starting to feel like it, as I'm starting to feel human again but having to go to bed fully dressed in bra, breast pads and also my "bladder issues" don't really make me feel particularly sexy or in the mood lol will work a way around it :)
Sleepy - I really hope you are feeling better & it's not mastitis. Have you tried cold packs on your boobs, same principle as cabbage leaves but they stay cooler longer.
Superstar - Are you going back to work fulltime or parttime? I've taken 12 months off work and struggling with not being financially independent for the first time in my life & relying on DH's wage
AFM - A has been sleeping quite well at night, I even got 8 hours out of her on friday night 12-8, but average past couple of nights has been a 6hr sleep, then a top up around 5ish and then another 3 hours before she gets up. Her colic seems to be a bit better but I'm also wondering if it also coincided with a wonder week & the 6 week crying/unsettled period everyone talks about.
We are just happy she travels so well so far and can't wait for the warmer weather so we can go camping etc.
Our car seems to be having issues, so DH is at a mates workshop trying to work out what problem is, am hoping it something relatively simple coz we were due to head home on wednesday morning. I'm cooking tonight so better go hang out some washing while Vic has some sunshine lol and walk down to shops to get what I need.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and a great start to the week.

Hi.
Well it seems that I am feeling better, think a few good hot showers, expressing, lots of water and some healthy food helped me kick that infection/bug I had the other night. So thank goodness to that!
We had a pretty uneventful weekend, got to have a sleep both days, and managed to catch up on some washing. We didn't really go anywhere, which is fine with me, I'm still adjusting with a new baby. I want to be able to go out, and in time I'm hoping it will become easier.
DH had the day off today, he woke up feeling sick, so it was a day of bed rest today. Didn't get into the shower until 11.30 this morning. But at least I managed to washy hair. It's nice to feel human. Lol
I was just wondering if anyone has heard from Socks? Does anyone know if she is ok?
Well E seems to be doing well, still feeding mostly every 3 hours, but I can sometimes get a good 4 hour block at night time, which is nice. He is usually settling for the night at between 9 and 10pm.
Well I hope you're all getting plenty of rest and enjoying your bubs. Xox

I am sure may has been going through one this last week very aggetated extra hungry and seems to of found her lungs lol.
May has been getting alot more wind to lately with the infants friends etc do you give it before feeds?after?inbetween?etc
My weekend was flat out 4 kids at home very busy older 2 just tormented each other all weekend DD 17months is abit clingy atm to school holidays soon so dreading them i will be lucky to have any hair left by the end of them.

Caplaylolmay - I like school holidays- only cos I don't have to get up at 7 when my alarm goes off. My older 2 like going to friends houses, so it gets kinda quiet around here...altho it'll mean boredom, more washing, more money....lol. Oh well. Ours start at the end of June.
We had a pretty rough night, I didn't get to sleep until 11, E woke at 12, 2.30 and grizzled lots in between. I heard him farting like a trooper before he woke at 6. I had to put his dummy in quite a few times, so lacking in sleep for me too today. Hopefully I'll get s nap this afternoon!

Sleepy - Good that you are feeling better. Mastitis would have been terrible! I was wondering about socks myself? I'm sure she is just busy though.
Cap - Bubs generally have growth spurts around 2 and 6 weeks. But every baby is different! I hope May settles more easily for you today!
I can't complain about Phoebe. She has unsettled times but she is such an easy bub. Worst case at night I just cuddle her in bed and she goes off to sleep with me. I also havn't had any serious issues with wind. The only thing is she likes to be held and cuddled most of the day but I love that! - it just makes it a bit difficult to get stuff done around the house. Whats the bet that now I've said this she will totally backflip on me? lol
