Tina - got the kitchen done and had a half hour nap lol. How are you going with cloth nappies? I'm surprised how easily I've adjusted to them - once we worked out that covers with double leg gussets keep everything in are great (have a few covers now pushed to the side for emergencies only), just an extra load of washing every 2nd day and I must admit I quite like hanging them out on the line, tragic I know I've got a bamboo & a hemp nappy to try overnight with a wool soaker cover but haven't been game to try them yet just in case.
Jleigh - amazing what an extra couple of weeks can make breastfeeding, a couple of weeks ago I went and bought nipple shields as she was killing me on the right side every feed but it seems like one day they just stopped hurting & feeding was comfortable. I still leak like crazy, not quite the flowing out I used to get after showering but definately can't go without breastpads. In the mornings after her long sleep they are so hard & sore I can't wait for her to wake up and feed.
Tina - dont think us formula feeding mummas have it easier :-) I think it depends on the bub really - Hunter did 2 nights which he went straight through with a dreamfeed at 10pm but has reverted the last 2 nights waking at 4am on Wednesday night and last night was even earlier at 330am! I dont like going backwards as he was consistantly sleeping til 4am prior to sleeping through. So I on average have been getting 6 hours block. And there are breastfeeding mothers who are constantly getting 8 or 9 hours! Zen will get there :-)
Hi to everyone else, I am having a bad day which I think is making bub unsettled! Have come down with an ear infection so I am feeling sad and sorry for myself...not much sleep last night - didnt get to sleep until after 1 and then was woken by the little man for a feed at 330am! Oh well. Hunter is now 5.6kg (yes a big boy) and has been in infant nappies for a couple of weeks now! I think it will only be a couple more weeks until he is in crawlers lol - stop growing so quickly my little man! And he has been in 000 for a couple of weeks now - and I think will be moving into 00 shortly - only in long sleeve long leg all-in-ones though! Hope you are all having a good day - enjoy your weekends!
SSM - I hope that he reverts to his long sleeps again for you! I find sleep deprivation is worse if you get used to getting sleep again! If you get no sleep consistently then it is easy to deal with. Hunter is growing so well!
Phoenix - How is A going now? I have found that P has been fussy with her feeds, I don't know whether it is her needles or her cold. Have you had any trouble?
Sorry, I can't remember what is on the other page. Hope all mummies have had a good day though!
Phoenix - Ta for telling me what a dreamfeed is! B actually had one this morning as I was so full and sore.
Traylee - My mother's group is at 9:30am at the health centre so if there's smoking and drinking I'm out! What about a meet up with some BB members? I've met a couple of great ladies from BB IRL and they're sooo lovely.
SSMumsy - Hope the ear infection settles soon.
Caplay - Hope you enjoy the hols with your kids.
Tina - Sounds like the sleeping is going really well for you! Did the midwife say how long it takes to 'establish our milk supply' ? Mine said that too, but didn't say how long that would take - I figured a few weeks!
Sleepy - Yay for sleep! B seems to be progressing and going longer and longer every few days. Last night he went from 7:30pm til 5:30am, which is when I woke him for a dreamfeed. He then slept til 7:15am! I was awake from 4am with full sore boobs though, but it took me til 5:30am to get the courage to get him up!
It was great to hear how E is growing and changing. I am amazed at what B can do this week that he couldn't do last week (that, and his grumpiness and insecurity has me convinced he's having a growth spurt!):
pays attention to his toys, ie rattles
using his hands to touch and sucking on them as well as anything else he can get near his mouth!
knows a laugh is like a smile and smiles at us if we laugh at him (e.g when he does a poosplosion and we laugh, he smiles!)
plays peek-a-boo with DH!! This is waaaay cool!
that I've just gotten B to self settle in his bassinette - this will be the first time since Tuesday that we haven't struggled with day naps. To be honest, I am getting sick of the screaming, taking ages to settle and all the usual things not working, then waking every 5 minutes for hours at a time. And then he falls asleep in the middle of a feed because he's sooooo tired so I put him down but he wakes up 5 minutes later again! DH just walked in as he's started crying again, so he's settling him this time....
We are looking at buying some things in the KMart and Big W toy sales starting next week - there are quite a few bargains on baby stuff that we'll put away for Christmas and will get stuff for the family to give him too. Plus there are one or two things that we'll buy for between now and Christmas!
Hi all. Just a quick one. We had our 6 week check up today. E is mow 5.5kg, 58cm long and head is 39cm. He's a big boy! And he will be 7 weeks on Sunday! Everything is awesome.
jleigh most of the mothers groups here are held at the peoples houses , i dont think the centre has any one show anymore cause they all made there own little groups.
i dont no any one who comes on ehre from up here, but a few are on the other forums but i no them all already,
lol
oh well ill sort it out
Traylee- Try the playgroup website. They will have the formal groups near you listed and should be more structured and maybe more what you are after.
Sleepy - E is growing so well! He is the same weight as Phoebe is!
JLeigh - Its amazing when they learn things hey! I used to love watching Tiana use her hands - just playing with toys. Cant wait for P to start doing it. You're not far from me. Maybe we should try and meet up sometime. Sleepy is only in Brisbane too! It would be good to see some mums and bubs in flesh!
yea il porlly wait till scarlet bit oler before i worry about playgroups, no point in taking her atm she wont be able to play lol. the other one i went to i only went cause my friend dragged me first time with ehr littlies so imet them all and became friends,
but they all have kids that are under 5 so it works for them cause they are all kids 1yr who run around, a few have bubs stll around 5 month mark but scarlet still bit little yet
Sleepy - I am in Morayfield, so in between both of you guys. Is there anyone else around us?
Traylee - Playroup is as much for your socialisation as for Scarlett. It might be good for you to meet other mums around? I am going to start going as soon as we are all better. Dont want to show up to one with a cold and upset everyone!
I can't believe Phoebe is 8 weeks old today!!! Where did the time go???
I'm out in a little country town called Boonah but am happy to travel into Bris so we can all meet up!! That would be SOO cool! Most of us are FB friends also so have seen photos but it is nothing like real life...
LETS SET A DATE!!
Ok. So when and where? I'm on the east side of brisbane. Somewhere for kids and has a nice cafe...
Southbank? I don't really know of anywhere else that good. Except around here. There are some great parks around here. But a bit far for you both I think. I'm not sure.....maybe Southbank is good? What do you think? We are on school holidays now, so how about next weekend?
I am so jealous that there are so many of you guys that live in Brissie & can meet up IRL, sucks being the only Adelaide girl
Marni - Hoping P is feeling better today, poor little thing needles & a cold isn't nice. A wasn't fussy with feeds, but she definately wanted more of them but think it was more of a comfort thing for her. She seems to have woken up feeling better this morning, she's back down sleep so will see what she is like when she wakes up from this nap.
Sleepy - Great to hear E is growing so well and your checks were all good. Where is the time going they are all growing so quickly.
Hi to everyone else, I better get off my butt and get some stuff done while A is still in bed. Have a great weekend all.
Sleepy - Southbank sounds good but if we go there we would prob be better waiting until after holidays. Just that there will be a million and one people there! But it would be good to meet some people. Where exactly is Manly West?
How far from Brisbane are you Tina?
Phoenix - You are more than welcome to come. You can stay with me if you want to fly up!
Marni - Manly West is on the east side of Brisbane. Just on the southside of the gateway bridge. I agree about the school holidays and southbank. It will be busy. But I have 4 kids and was thinking of somewhere for them too. Unless there is a park or playground closer to you. I know there is a mums and kids indoor playground over the northside. I just can't remember what it's called. I'll look it up. It's at strathpine or somewhere. Chermside maybe?
Well i am way down in victoria so meeting up is out for me.
Whats everyones plans for the weekend??
Us nothing i have this terrible head cold, headache and earache and to top it all off only managed roughly 2 hours sleep last night so i am a walking zombie today.
May had poo pains and wind all night then this morning does the biggest poo and settles straight down(wish she had of done that last night) but i am sure she may be going through another growth spurt as after the last feed she has been really unsettled again waking every 5-10mins dosent help that the older 2 are running around feral today.
Lucky Mum comes this afternoon so will get abit of a break.
Anyway better run try control this mob takecare and have a great weekend everyone
School holidays are so different now! As a teacher, we loved 'em!! But soooo many parents would come up and groan about having their little cherubs at home!! And the ones that were looking forward to them would bring their kids back after holidays and sigh with relief that they were over!! He he.
A meet up sounds good. DH works near Logan so goes over the Gateway every day. Problem is, he leaves at like 5:30am! But his work is pretty flexible, so I could maybe swing it that he goes in late and comes home a little early one day? Somewhere in between would be good too, or you guys could always visit me on the Coast
caplay - I took B shopping with Mum today. Window shopping that is. Was nice to get out of the house and B was so good. Tomorrow is gardening and we're making lunch for my Dad for his b'day. Hope you feel better and get some sleep tonight.
Sleepy - Glad E's check was all good.
Traylee - I agree with Marni that meeting other mums and bubs is as much for me as for B, especially when he's so young. I went to a parents first session with the midwives when B was 2 1/2 weeks and from there was invited to the New Parents group that starts soon. It goes for 6 weeks at the centre and after that moves to people's places if we still all want to meet (that is, if we like eachother!). Can you phone up and check what's on offer? Plus our ante-natal class group is getting together in a few week's time.
B slept for 7 hours last night, then woke every 3 hours after that, but it was an unsettled sleep with lots of calling out that kept me awake. Plus DH had a man-headache so he whinged all night. And, some neighbours were having a really loud party, so I hardly got any sleep either! Grrr
Caplaylolmay - I hope that May has a much more settled night for you! I have an unsettled bub today too.
JLeigh - Would a weekday suit you better to meet? I've just realised that I have no idea whether people drive or have only one car or what. What would suit you?
Sleepy - Southbank sounds fine, I just think we would be better waiting til after the holidays if we want to go there. Otherwise there is a playcentre at Strathpine that is meant to be good. I think there is one on Sandgate road at Virginia as well. We are the only ones with older children. However I have T in daycare on Wed and Thurs.
Tina - I think you are the furtherest away. Where would be easy for you to get?
Today we have had a very unhappy bub. She is just sad and I don't know if it is from her needles on Thurs or her cold but she wont really sleep or let us put her down. DH has her now so I at least have a break. I gave her panadol and that has seemed to have helped a little. Heres hoping for an ok night!
