Hi Kymmy - OMG re your rings! I still can't get my wedding rings on either, it sux! I had the same problem getting them off, left them on and woke up to swollen fingers one day, nearly had to cut them off like you, freaked out and tried everything, ended up with olive oil and lots of pulling and tugging getting them off, my finger nearly came off with them however and it killed!!!!!!! Shame about not having a mothers group, the hospital organised it all for me, you must be able to find out where your local child health centre is as that's who run the mothers groups in Perth. I have my pregnancy aqua class girls as well and we've sort of formed our own little group so I have 2!!!

Amelia has been sleeping better at night the last 2 nights (Ubba, I'll probably have your problem when it ceases as quick as it began)....but she's fussy during the day and seems to want more and more booby as well like you Kymmy, the health nurse told me yesterday at this age they start to have a growth spurt and need more so I'm just going with the flow for now and feeding her a little more, as long as she sleeps at night that's the main thing. Only thing is she is also wanting to stay awake more so cries unless I cuddle her till she falls asleep. After her 9.30 am feed this morning she was awake until 1.00 pm!!!!!! Yikes! She's been fast asleep since though so will have to wake her soon for another feed. It puts the routine I'm trying to establish out the window but I've decided to go with it for now, she's only young still and I'm just far too impatient! Sounds like our two are in a similar pattern Kymmy! Do you use a dummy? That saves me because Amelia is a comfort sucker, Archie is probably the same.

Hi Ubba, I rang the insurance company yesterday and there's no rules on driving for me, it's up to the OB apparently. OB wants me to wait 4 weeks but he said if I want to drive short distances, ie to the shops now I can if I promise to be careful....but no lifting the pram so I can't really go anywhere without that and he doesn't want me using the Baby Bjorn until 6 weeks either because of the pressure on the abdo. Having a c-section sux doesn't it!

Hi Tygress - wishing you and your family a Happy Christmas and exciting New Year as well, enjoy your little visit to your parents. It's exciting having a bubby for Christmas isn't it, my family are all so excited, it's quite funny especially as she doesn't really know what's going on.

    Hi ladies,

please excuse me for not using caps but im one hand typing...

Ubba i cant see the photos either..Omg your night last night sounds a bit like mine lol..How do you get them to use a dummy? V hates any dummy and will cry if you try to give her one...she will take an ebm bottle though... I hope your night tonight is better sleep deprivation is torture....

Tania our weather must be following yours! tday im wearing ugg boots while yesterdat was sweltering...How cute are the sleeping smiles though...like they are dreaming of boobies everywhere haha, you will get them soon...my dh is sad he hasnt got any but he isnt here with her all the time so thee you go

Alison whoa! having a baby cerainly is exxy! Thank gosh you were in top hospital cover. it sounds like you and Amelia are getting into a groove. As for nights we just let v sleep whenever at night and are gradually letting her do the same for days an its becoming somewhat regular...We know now she is placid in the mornings and not so much in the evenings where she wants to be held like you mentioned with Amelia. today im going to try the sling to see if it makes a difference to her outlook...

Merry Christmas Tygress!! ihope you have a great time with your family....must admit this year will be a bit special with a little one

Hi Kimmie, oh you must be so tired. And your poor bbs i know in the evenings when v goes all weird my nipples cop a caning and it feels terrible. maybe just slowly space feeds out so he gets hungrier so sucks better at each feed? Does he take a dummy? v hates them so i have to help her out with comfort sucking..it makes for a very full on experience when you have a million things to do and baby has other ideas..well done on making the biccies though...Oh im glad you still have your finger too

    Hi everyone else!

afm, V was so upset yesterday after her dream run...i suppose it had to happen lol she finally settled at 1am!!!! in bed with us then slept till 8am I know some are not even getting that much of a break so i should be grateful hey...we had a change and feed and went back to sleep to be woken up by dh snapping photos of us cuddled up in bed...
Today i am trying the sling to keep her occupied during her cranky time (dh makes the jaws theme song to indicate if she is going to crack it lol..) it is working intermittently but then i wonder if i am just postponing the inevitable....i wonder if she sleeps so well because she uses a lot of energy losing it in he evenings???

my 3 sils are coming to visit from melbourne tomorrow so we are looking forward to that. Have a great night ladies

    xx

Hi there everyone and welcome to newbies....

It's hard to keep up in here when you havent been around a couple of days!!!

Abbey has been sleeping a fair bit which has been good....although as soon as you arrive at the shops thats when she decides to wake up and I'm petrified that she's going to lose it in the middle of my shopping so on Thurs I was a wimp and ran home not long after I got there.....

She put on 250gm this week so that's good....I'm so anxious about my supply decreasing etc that I need to hear that so I know it's all going OK...though you can tell she's becoming chubby by looking at her but I'm a figures girl so I'll be annoying the ladies at the clinic for a while yet....

She always seems to fall asleep at the boob most times I feed her so I usually only get one side in at a time....I should be getting her on both sides at the one feed shouldnt I cause really both sides are only getting a feed every 5 or so hours hey and that's not going to help my supply is it?

JD has conjunctivitis at the moment and poor Abbey is having a few little crusties in her eyes so I have special wipes for both of them so fingers crossed it doesnt get any worse....how can a child that attends kindy one day a week come home with a rash every single week and now bring home this??? Drives me mad, but he needs the socialisation since life at home is pretty boring for him at the minute....

Anyway, sorry for the ramble and no personals....

Hope everyone had a good night....not too bad for us....up at 1:30 then again at 4:30 so feeling alright today....

    Talk soon
    Shayna

PS - For new girls, I'm on FB too under Shayna Delaforce if you want to be friends....

Hi Madame - yay you found us! Glad you're sticking with us, your one of the group so you have to! We're looking forward to seeing some pics of Harper, the one with hubby she looks so tiny and sweet. So glad you had a girl, how adorable, one of each lucky you! xx

Hi JDs Mum - I only feed on one boob at a time too, Amelia falls asleep after about 15-20 minutes, some times 10 minutes. I've taken to changing her nappy mid feed to wake her up again and continue, I'm trying to get 30 minutes out of her or she wakes not long after wanting more!

AFM - after 2 great nights we had a terrible night last night. I fed Amelia at 5.30 pm and she went straight to sleep...only problem is both DH and I fell asleep on the couch at 8.30 pm (I was going to wake her for a feed around 9.00 pm/9.30 pm) and neither of us woke up until 10.30 pm and Amelia was still asleep! So she went 5 hours between feeds which I think was too long because for the rest of the night she was up and down all night wanting a feed and crying when I put her down......we ended up putting her in the bed at 5.30 am cause she always drops off in our bed and we slept until 8.30 am. I know we shouldn't do that but when we need sleep we will try anything! I feel a bit zombie like today but I have to go to my sisters this arvo for her birthday so can't even have an arvo nap. Should grab an hour now before we go but I reckon it will make me feel more tired only having 1 hour, if that makes sense! Oh well, such is life. Amelia is being good today though so at least she's not crying etc. I find the crying stresses me when I'm super tired ha ha. I can't wait till things are more structured and not so up and down from day to day, gosh I'm impatient, she's only 2.5 weeks old ha ha!

    Hi Girls,

Just a quick selfish post cause I am supposed to be wrapping christmas pressies while Ruby is asleep and the other 2 kids are at my dads for the night...

Alison, I didnt have a c-section I just have to treat my body like I have had one cause of the muscle separation on pelvic instability. Either way, it really does suck haing to rely on other people to drive you around or just being stuck at home.

The MCHN came for Ruby's 2 week appointment. She put on 380g in 1 week!!! I have a physio appointment on Wednesday to try and help with my pelvic pains, we'll see.

I will try and post the photos onto FB myself.

    Love Bec

    Hi guys

Nice to see everyone having similar nights to me! My bub must be the only one not gaining a lot of weight though - she only put on 70g in 12 days - but DD1 was a slow gainer too (although they weren't worried cos she was formula fed so will be funny to see if they think its a problem since DD2 is bfed) not sure when our next check up is, sometime this week I think - the MCHN makes home visits to me at the moment because with the ages of my kids, its hard for me to get out anywhere on my own. Plus we only have the one car that DH uses for work, so its a drama to get the car with all 3 kids in tow!

I got lucky last night - only had to feed once, and I think it was at around 1.45/2am something like that. Then she stirred at 5.30am so I popped her into bed with me and she fell asleep again until DS woke me up at 6.45 - then we got up and left DH and DD1 in her room (DH went out last night, got horribly drunk so had passed out next to DD1's bed.. lol)

DD2 is going through the "I don't want to sleep unless you are holding me" stage. I think she has horrible wind issues (or reflux) and won't sleep during the day at all unless I'm holding her in my arms, or in my sling, or she falls asleep on the boob. Not a problem - if she was my only child!!! She is currently sleeping in DH's arms on the couch, so at least my arms are getting a break. Still - not going to complain cos she's my last and these will be my last newborn snuggles EVER (sad to think...) so trying to make the most of it.

Better go - DH is getting up DS for something so must go intervene

OH - question - is everyone buying bubs something for xmas? I got stuff for the bigger kids, but not for DD2 cos she won't know the difference.. lol.. (am I mean?)

Arimeh - Do nappies count as Xmas pressies? I've gotten a few things (socks with bells & a shirt from Santa and a couple of toys from us - it would have been the other way around but L saw the toys so he knew I bought them) for Mr I just so L doesn't ask why Mr I didn't get anything.

Alison: Don't worry too much about having Amelia in bed - Mr I is in my bed all night (DH isn't if L wakes during the night or if he falls asleep putting L to bed like he did last night) As long as you follow the safe sleep guidelines - no doonas (and I'm sure you don't have a doona in this weather) and you and DH aren't affected by drugs or alcohol or have sleep apnoea its fine to have bub's in bed. I am getting so much more sleep this time & I think its safer for me as I was falling asleep with L in my arms sitting up during night feeds when he was new.

We had our first big car trip Friday and back yesterday - went to the other side of Brisbane for my Dad's family get together. Mr I cried on the way down, but he was due for his afternoon cluster feed. Mr I slept mostly on the way back, but we had to stop for 4 wee breaks for L so I gave him a feed halfway home. My car is making the most attrotious noise at low speeds, so I have to find a mechanic to look at it on Tuesday.

My cousin who is due in Feb (and has a 5yo) looked at the size of Mr I in shock - she said is he a normal size for 5 weeks. I assured her he's grown alot and L was the same (and all babies on my Mum's side are the same). Her first bub was 1lb lighter than my boys also so I don't think she needs to worry.

We went to dinner at Sizzler with PIL on Friday night - nice not to have to worry about listeria eating the salad bar (not that it was that good).

I have my 6 week appointment on Monday - I wonder if my Ob will have the hospital notes as she missed the birth.

ubba & JDsMum.... gr8 weight gain!!

dh is off work for 2.5 weeks now for christmas.... its gr8 to have my cook bak lol. ella is doing gr8, she has been gaining weight and feeding well.

alison, was going to say to you about the night time feeds and ella sleeping though the night (cant remember what thead it came up on)... i didnt want to let her go all night with out a feed but i was up one night when she did it the first time trying to make her feed for 5 hours straight but she just wouldnt!!! i was crying because she wouldnt feed and i was so tired.... the next day i disgust it with my midwife and she said if shes not going to feed shes not going to feed and there is no way i can force her.... so iv been letting her sleep all night.... she goes 8 hours stright but like i said shes still gainning weight and as my midwife said all babies are different.

hello to the rest of you lovely ladies and your beautiful babies

Hi Girls - I've missed a few posts but it sounds like everyone is doing well and having lovely weekends. It's really hot in Perth this weekend. Had a good night last night, Amelia did the 4 hourly stretches so only got up twice and had a bit of a lie in....I put her in the bed at 7.00 am and slept until 9.00 am, wahoooo! Feel much better today, although DH is asleep on the couch with Amelia asleep in her usual spot, on his chest. I love how the blokes need naps in the day, I know he wakes when I do and he did get up and change her nappy for me last night but still, they don't physically have to sit there and feed for 30 minutes....in fact, he lies there and snores and some times I'm so tired I feel like punching him ha ha! How horrible am I!

As for the Chrissy present for Amelia, I wasn't going to buy her anything as she's got so much already and all my family have bought her Chrissy pressies and like you said Arimeh she won't know.....but I relented at the shops today and got her a small little toy thing for her pram, that's all, I would've bought it anyway LOL. And Amelia is a bit the same re wanting to sleep in my arms, I generally have to wait for her to fall asleep before I can put her down, must be a phase.

Hi Snowy - thanks re the bed thing, I feel better now. We have been doing it in the mornings and it really gives us a bit more sleep so happy about that and we're very careful, no alcohol, neither of us smoke and no doona etc. I'm amazed the amount of people who do it.

Hi Billykat - you are so lucky re Ella sleeping through, I want one of those ha ha!

I have a question too, my OB gave me a script for the mini pill before he discharged me, I didn't ask for it he just gave it to me. I'm supposed to start taking it as of tomorrow but I'm really not sure whether to or not. Before falling pregnant I'd been on the pill for 20 years and as I'm planning on trying for another down the track (probably start trying in 12-18 months as I'll be 37 next year) - I don't know whether to bother or not. I don't know much about the mini pill, I know it's better for those breastfeeding but is touchier re with the fact you have to take it at the same time or it's not as effective etc. Does anyone else know much about it and is anyone else doing the same? I loved being on the pill for ease of convenience etc but I don't fancy having to try and get it out of my system again when I try to fall pregnant again. Although, the idea of using condoms doesn't excite me much either!!!!!!!!!

Alison - I'm not going on any more pills, Eden is our last bub so DH is getting the snip. Between children though we just used condoms, cos quite frankly the frequency of sex after children wasn't enough to warrant protection for the entire month... rofl

lol Mel!! We just dont use contraception cause we dont DTD often enough either...

We have bought pressies for Ruby for Christmas. We got her a portacot, dolly, a couple of rattles, a fisher price mail box toy thingy and a clothing parcel. Santa is getting her an activity tray centre. We figured her birthday is so far away that she will need toys for during the year so we may as well use Christmas as the time to get them. Plus our other 2 kids will wonder why she didnt get anything.

Mon- You changed your name again!! I am loving the photos you are posting on FB, they look awesome! Is Mally at primary school next year?

Snowy- lol about the listeria. I ate heaps of brie cheese today and finally had a choccy sundae from maccas the other night. The cheese was yummy but the sundae actually wasnt that great... Glad to hear the family is doing well.

madame- Glad you could find the time and energy to get online to the most important people!! Sounds like you are doing well, Tullys behaviour is completely normal so dont worry too much about it xx

billy- I am jelous of your sleeping baby! That is so great for you though, makes life much easier.

Alison- Ruby has been coming into bed with us nightly the last week or so cause it is the only way I can get some sleep overnight. You will always get advice from different professionals but ultimately it is up to you what you do and ho you parent your child. If it works for you to have her in bed with you then do it (but of course I reccommend taking on board what Snowey said re- drugs, alcohol etc). You sound like you are doing a fantastic job xxx

Natty- Ruby isnt too thrilled on the dummy but once she starts sucking she keeps it in for a while. I just hold it in her mouth until she starts sucking on it. She sometimes cracks it and pushes it out with her tongue, then I know she really doesnt want it but mostly she is happy to have it. I cant have her sucking on my boob all day just for the sake of it. Sounds like you are adapting to motherhood really well too xx

Hi to everyone I may have missed

AFM- We've had a busy few days with 3 Christmas parties this weekend. Ruby is over it and just wants to be at home. We need to go to the shops and Dr's tomorrow but otherwise will be home. Poor little thing has conjunctivitis, well I think it is. Her eyes are always gunky with yellow and she gets stringy bits on her eyelids. I bought some saline solution from the chemist and have been cleaning her eyes every couple of hours. Im hoping it clears up cause she is too little to have antibiotics yet....

I tried to upload some photos on FB, hope it worked.... Im a bit challenged in that area lol!

    Hi there everyone....

We havent bought Abbey anything for Xmas....I have a voucher at a baby shop that I need to spend so I figure that I'll just wrap up whatever I get from there....cheating a bit as it's not technically from us but oh well.....

Ubba - Abbey has had gunky eyes as well....JD brought home conjunctavitis from kindy last week and we were given these wipes from the chemist called 'Little Eyes' and they have been working great - both of their eyes have cleared up nearly completely now....we used saline for JD as he had a blocked tear duct not long after he was born and it was good too, but these other wipes have stuff in it especially to clear things up....

Alison - I was told the mini pill as well but I dont see my Dr until Feb...I guess we'll just use condoms (hate the thought of it too though) although DTD is not the most important thing on my mind at the moment....I would prefer to just roll over and sleep for more than 2 hours straight at the moment!

Billykat - Very jealous of you having hubby home for that long....my DH is on contract at the moment so he only gets the PH's off and he also works at the hospital on w/ends so I havent had him home for the last 2 weekends....at least he is off on Xmas though...we are in a small country town so he has to take the work while it's there...

Snowy Love - I know what you mean about the listeria thing!! I missed soft serve ice cream soooo much while I was pregnant....everytime I get to the shops now I go to Wendy's and get one....it's so good to be able to have stuff like that again!

Arimeh - Abbey is doing the same with the holding while she sleeps thing....she has had bad wind lately too and yesterday I think I spent nearly all day on the lounge with her and when I got to putting her in her bassinet she would only last 20 min's or so....so frustrating!! I am going to have to use all my willpower and stay off the chocolate as I think that is what was doing it to her....I have finally got her sleep on our bed at the moment so I should be using my time wisely and showering etc.....it's nice having cuddles and all but I cant stand my house being in dissaray either....

AFM - Pretty shocking nights the last 2 have been with not settling for long periods of time....my boobs are sooo sore even with the nipple shield and it's painful against my bra or shirt....probably because she is attached to them so much??? Hopefully with me not eating chocolate today I'll see a difference in her wind and she'll settle for me a bit better....

Hope eveyone had a good night....

Shayna - ahhh I'm hearing you on the feeding pain and the wind!! We must have identical babies I'm nearly ready to give up bfing - hard when all I'm used to is FFing my kids, but I did want to make an effort with E. So I thought I would express as much as I can during feeds to make a middle of the night bottle - since thats our worst feed by far. Only got about 40mls expressed so far, but its hard with two other small children, have to do it in small spurts when I get the chance...lol

So cranky though cos she vomits most of what she takes in, so she's not gaining weight and certainly not as settled as my other two were. Plus DH is pressuring me to give it up and just bottle feed... arghh so hard!

Sorry bout the little pity party I just had. Sometimes parenting just sucks.
