Hi Shayna - hmmm, must be the day to be annoyed with DH's cause I feel the same! I think snapping at each other is just the tiredness coming out. Amelia went to sleep at 9.30 pm after her last feed last night, was awake again at 1.00 am with a wet nappy (she's soaking them these days) and then again at 5.00 am, this time her nappy leaked through her jammies and onto the bassinette mattress so she was not happy. Because her bed was wet I changed her, fed her and popped her in bed with us but she didn't really go back to sleep properly. DH did help me but what annoyed me is he went fishing with his dad at 6.30 am and I was so tired I could hardly keep my eyeballs open and he had the cheek to whinge that he was tired as well and was all cranky. I said, well, you chose to go fishing so don't go there. So I had to get up as Amelia would not sleep while he went gallivating off fishing with his dad and his mates. It's now 8.00 am and Amelia has finally gone to sleep so I probably should have a nap, now I'm up though I feel too awake and I'd like a shower. Honestly!!!!! Oh and don't worry re routine, what works for some doesn't work for others. I tried from the start to get Amelia into a routine at a friends suggestion, her little boy was sleeping through from 12 weeks, I've kind of stuck to it but there have been days lately where it just doesn't happen and I cave in. We do what works on the day and let's face it, every day is different!
On the nappy front, I bought some Infant ones yesterday as I'm finding the Newborn nappies are leaking Amelia's wee up her back now. The only problem is because Amelia is more long and thin and she only has a little bottom the infant size are a bit gapey around her legs so while it stops the wee leaking up her back I reckon the poo will come out the legs. I'm tempted to put one of each on ha ha - just kidding. Oh and DH and I DTD last night, the first time since I was 4 months pregnant can you believe it! I must say I don't know how you girls who had a vaginal birth managed but I found it a bit ouchy inside after a c-section which I didn't expect! I think DH was a bit nervous too ha ha. I shouldn't say this but it bothered me as well as Amelia was asleep in her bassinette in the room which I think is wrong, I told DH next time we'll have to put her somewhere else and to never tell her we did it in the same room LOL....DH reminded me we did it while she was inside me and I said oh yeah but when she's out and breathing air it is even worse! I bet he tells her when she's older
So, hows everyone else going today, getting any sleep?
Shayna - Eden wakes after 20 minutes too - most babies have a 40 minute sleep cycle, she has 20 mins. I have the baby monitor set to the high setting, so I can hear when she starts stirring - run in there and pat her back to sleep. I might have to do it 3 times over the course of an hour, but at least then she doesn't get overtired - which then leads to her not going down so easy the next time round.
Alison - pmsl @ your nappy dilemma!! I can't wait to get the kids back into cloth - these disposables are freakin expensive!! I've been in cloth so long I've forgotten what they cost! Oh and haven't DTD here yet - even though Eden is quite good of a night time (ie, she slept from 5pm to 7.30, then back down at 9pm, up at 3.20, down at 4.00am - up at 7.30) so we have the time to do it, but since we are moving, we don't get to bed till aound 11ish! But I'm a bit hesitant... and yes it does hurt after a section - well it did for me too...lol
Kymmy - soooo did you get knocked up? lol
Natty - BB meet ups are great. I went to a few when I lived in Qld and been to one Tassie one so far too Oh - and I don't think there will be a 4th - I think we are done now.
Hi to everyone else.. typing with one hand here whilst feeding - and DH is trying to pack up the stereo system with DS asking endless questions about what he is doing ("but its our stereo daddy... yes aricyn thats why we are packing it up to go to our new place..")
Better go change a few bottoms I suppose - oh - and get dressed...lol
Don't worry Arimeh, this won't be long - I never have much to say!
We put the cot up yesterday & he's having his first sleep in it now. See if he sleeps better in his room rather than in the bassinette out in the lounge room with the Duke screaming and banging.
We went to the Target baby sale yesterday - I was so tempted to buy stuff but mostly restrained myself - I bought a drink boittle (for 4 months time) and a tray for DS1's car seat & got a free sample of a Nuby Infafeeder which is just weird, but I might just buy a teat and use it when I (eventually) leave Mr I over a feed time.
Arimeh - it seems bizarre to me that I'm using cloth full time & you're not seeing I bought half my stash from you, but completely understand not using cloth while moving, we did the same. L was the same as A with moving "don't pack X!" We explained that we weren't throwing out stuff (which wasn't true we took heaps to the dump) we'd open the boxes at the new house, but he didn't get it until moving day when he got really unpset until my Mum sat him down & told him again that everything was going to the new house & then he asked "are we taking the roof?"
JD's Mum: Try not to compare to you step-nephew 'cause they're all different (and you really only know what your step sister tells you.) I doubt you don't have enough milk if you resort to feeding to settle 'cause isn't that supposed to increase supply. You might find if you write down times over a few days she has set her own routine - I did with DS1 & probably would this time if I could be bothered. I feed to settle most of the time 'cause I'm too lazy (see prevoius comment) to try other things when I know he'll sleep this way.
Alison: Don't worry about the DTD with Amelia in the room - she's asleep & she won't remember & if you are both awake and in the mood at the same time you should take the opportunity! But if it worries you and she stays asleep, just roll the basinette out of the room (or find another room in the house :
Kymmy: Your poor DD, that's so sad. There's 10 years between DH & his sister (DH is older) and they get on great now, I think he teased her a bit when she was a toddler (holding toys above her so she couldn't reach etc) but I think that's just a older brother thing & it sounds like having the girl older would be better for this.
I got a call from my GP on friday, appantly when my Ob did my Pap smear at my 6 week check they didn't get enough cells so I've got to have another one. Thing is last time (different Ob & GP) same thing happened! Grrrr.
Alison - Dont you love how 'tired' they are after really doing nothing all night?? God they are precious these men...god the other day I had a huge fever going on with the mastitis and felt like crap and I was still out in the backyard at 10pm hanging out a massive load of washing...women just get on with it and men whinge!
We have DTD about 4 times since I stopped bleeding after about 4 weeks and I just cant get into it at all....either I'm waiting and listening for Abbey to wake up as she's in our room too, or just too tired and have no energy to enjoy it. There is no way I can O at the moment as I'm just not all there at the moment with everything going on...I hope that is normal and I get back in the groove cause I usually O every time and it's disappointing (sorry if TMI) and I think DH feels like he's a failure, but it's really not his fault...I think women have to be all there emotionally and physically unlike men who could probably do it anywhere, anytime! I didnt have any pain any of the times but it's not like we were thrashing around the place either so no problems that way....
Abbey had an OK night last night, up a couple of times...it all becomes a blur so I cant remember times etc but I dont remember it being hideous so that was OK. So hot here today so have already taken DS to dad's for a swim this morning then go back up this afternoon after his sleep....
Going to watch some quality trash TV for a bit now while I can - will ignore the washing up, ironing and tidying that really needs my attention!
hey all i had anight out last night, went to my dad and step mums for the night saw there new doggie maltese x ****zu...pav the wonderdog lol there dockers ppl....jose the nong he is stayed up til 3ish cos he doesnt wake up when she cries and didnt want to do that to her during the night but mally woke him at 5:30 sayng shes been crying lol...its funny cos everytime i go out after a couple hours i just want to come back home so im in the same house as my family....serenity is still comfortably in the newborn nappies i think weve only had one poosplosion where it just went up her back slightly we more have the pukey problems......she got into the routine of going to bed around 7:30 and sleeping anywhere from 5-8 hours but then after that its back to like 3 hours
Hi Shayna - don't worry, I should've mentioned in my previous post that I didn't really feel like DTD to be honest but poor DH was getting a bit ancy, he kept asking me like a little pubescent boy ha ha. I didn't dislike it but I was too busy thinking, ouch ouch ouch and OMG Amelia's in the room I hope she doesn't remember ha ha! Also, I still haven't started taking the pill yet so we used condoms and I find they take away the sensation a lot. Sorry TMI!
Forgot to mention earlier, I had a bit of a meltdown last night, not sure where it came from as have been feeling quite happy. I had a nice long hot shower and when getting dressed looked up in the mirror and just went yuk! I came downstairs and burst into tears, DH was like what's wrong! I just suddenly felt disgusted in my body and that I look so fat and horrible - I have 7 kgs to lose and I still have this gut that makes me look 4 months pregnant only wobbly, my thighs are horrible and I hate my arms, then I went on to cry about the ability or lack thereof to breastfeed Amelia and how I'm such a failure having to have a c-section and now I can't give her enough milk so have to give her formula bla bla bla. He just turned around and said, I think you're being too hard on yourself Alison, you've just had a baby. Then I was like, but that was 7 weeks ago, how come other people at mothers group look thin! Basically he couldn't win, I just had to let it out and then I felt better. I just want my body back I kept saying.......I still feel that way this morning. Mind you, I did manage to express 50 ml this morning which is really good for me. Fingers crossed the fenugreek is working, in the meantime it's a BF/FF mix for Amelia!
Hi Mon - Amelia was doing between 5/6 hour nights too a week ago and now she's back to 3 or 4, grrrrrrr. Sux huh! Sounds like you had a nice evening, good on you. I reckon I'd be wanting to come home too though, my sisters have both offered to have Amelia overnight but I don't want to just yet. As much as the sleep sounds great I'd miss her too much and end up thinking about her all night anyway!
God I rambled again, sorry girls. It's bloomin hot outside, meant to be 41 today, was 27 at midnight and 35 at 10.00 am this morning. I'm staying in the aircon until DH gets back from fishing and then we're going to my sister's house for a swim later.
I have missed so much! I remember the new thread being started but because I didnt subscribe I thought no-one had posted....I have just finished reading through 2 pages lol! Now I cant remember what everyone has written so I will just do a selfish post!
Ruby has still been waking every 3 hours overnight and about 4 hrs during the day. I am pretty tired but my mood has been ok - I think DH still loves me at the moment lol! We havnt DTD yet cause I just cant be bothered but poor DH is getting toey, oh well not my problem haha. It would be nice though if I could walk past him without him trying to grab my bum or my boobs grrrrrr. He gave me the best massage last night, I think he was hopeful, but I went to sleep hehehe!
I went and got my eyebrows waxed yesterday at the Day Spa at the top of my road, I feel human again! It is the same place I went to get my pregnancy massage from. I grabbed a pricelist and have put in my order with DH for Mothers Day - Indian Head Massage, 1.5 hr full body massage and Ultimate Foot Indulgance ahhhhh I can feel it now!
Alison- just read your last post and wanted to comment. Maybe Amelia is getting enough milk from you when she breastfeeds. Some people just cant express properly or the expresser you are using isnt right for you. I had a cheap expresser and I could only get really small amounts out of but then I got a medela brand one and I could express a 120ml bottle in one session!!
Hi Ubba - lovely to hear from you, your post cracked me up LOL - I only DTD for the same reason, toey DH and thought I'd better before he went elsewhere LOL (just kidding). Ruby and Amelia have the same sleeping pattern by the sound!
Re the expressor, I have the Medela Swing, cost me nearly $300!!!! I definitely think I struggle to fill Amelia up as she cries her heart out and continues searching so I have to give her a bottle and then she's happy. The first feed of the morning I seem to have enough and probably another day feed but come the late arvo and into the evening not so much. I'll persevere, I want to keep BF'ing as long as I can.
i still kept waking through the night anyways and woke up with massive killer boobs...i said to dh when i got home this is the size i want when i get tem done lol
alisondo you remember wat you used to say to me wen i would come on here saying the same things...i know it is very hard i have the same problem as you, just remember that belly grew your baby thats y its like that...ive been feeling worse cos ive gained 4 kg over the hols as well so now my 12s are tight
Haha Ubba! Funny! Good to hear from you! I'm booked in to have my waxing done on tues! I haven't had it done since before my wedding at 38 weeks!! So, as you can imagine, i am looking mighty fine..... Ruby is so damn gorgeous!!! So glad she is gonna be my son's wife one day! haha!
Natty: I thought you only got mastitis when establishing too! I never got it with DD. I don't think it has fully cleared up cos that boob seems to get quite engorged and the other one doesn't.. i think there is still a blockage somewhere..
I nearly passed out when i looked "down there" afterwards!!! I had a tear that they didn't stitch and it looked like it would never heal but (thank christ) it has!!
Good on you on your real life friends!!! I was just thinking that i've really ignored mine lately and should start to make an effort now that Archie is a bit older... You guys are just so much easier to be friends with cos i can sit here in my knickers if i wanna and you wouldn't even know hahaha!!!!
Telly: He is a higher than averaged priced pony cos he is very special!! He is so kind and would never bite, kick, buck etc. He is also very showy so if we were into showing he would clean up!! We have only been to a couple of shows on him and he did win alot of ribbons! It is absolutely shocking knowing the amount some people spend on a hobby like horseriding! It is insane!!! I am spewing DD is so into it... i wish she was into cheap stuff like knitting or crosswords... hahaha! But noooooo, it's ponies and quad bikes for her!!!! DH was looking in the quokka for Archie's first bike and i yelled at him!!!!! haha! He is gonna play golf and piano i've decided
JD's mum: Don't worry... we have absolutely no routine in our lives either.. just going with the flow, i figure thats the best was to be for us, then i won't set myself up for stress and disappointment when things don't go to plan!
I actually said to my DH the other day that i miss him cos we don't spend any time together anymore! Even simple things like sending a nice text when we are apart doesn't really happen anymore! I'm gonna make more of an effort cos i think it's important.
Alison: Archie was out of the infants at 2 weeks old! He is now in crawlers, mainly cos they are better value than the infants cos they come in the big box. But they fit him well anyway.
We DTD from about 2 weeks after Archie was born cos i don't mind a bit of hanky panky.. hahaha But i felt the same way about having Archie in the room with us!!! It's weird hey!!!?? I always wonder how those true 'co-sleepers' go.... do they just leave the room or what? Some people have their kids sleep with them til the age of 4 or 5!! How do they manage!!!!?
I've been having meltdowns quite often too! My tummy is almost back to flat but i have so much loose skin and stretch marks! It is disgusting!! I have 7.5kg to lose but i can't stop eating chocolate!!!! I have decided that i'm going to do some form of exercise every day, even just a little walk around the verandas!!! I'll start that tomorrow! haha! How hot is it today in Perth!!? YUK... we are going to mums later so i think i might have a swim!
Goodluck getting Amelia back into routine! x x x
Snowy: Grrrr on the pap! As if they aren't bad enough just having one let alone having to get it redone! I went to the Target sale too... i rainchecked two carseats, one for each car. I didn't really buy much cos our target hasn't got much stuff which sucks! I wanted some Bonds stuff but they don't stock any of the Bonds stuff except wondersuits! Can you believe that!!?
Mon: Good on you on your night out! I was just looking through my FB albums of pics when we used to go out alot and drink heaps of beer!! I do miss those days! We had sooo much fun! Hey have a look at my videos on FB.. we used to set up a slippery dip in our paddock and hold onto a rope tied to the back of the quadbike and slide down and land in the paddling pool!! Sooo funny! We always used to do crazy things like that... those were the days! Not that i'd change anything now!!! Love my life right now, it's awesome! I'm planning on getting my boobies fixed up in the future too! And i'd like the size i've got right now.. i've taken a pic so i can show the Dr!!! I was actually booked in to have them done last Jan but we bought our house instead... figured my family couldn't exactly shelter from the rain underneath my bosoms so had to sacrifice them! But one day.....................
Arimeh: Was looking forward to attempting to get knocked up but then guess who decided to show up??????? Who else but AUNT FLO! Damn..............
Holy mother, this is a long post! Hello to everyone i've missed!
Is anyone else doing birth announcement cards for friends and family? I've found some beautiful ones online and am going to do a photoshoot and get them printed off. We got soooo many pressies and support from everyone, i just want to do something to say "thanks"!
Hope everyone has a great day... I'm gonna sloth on the couch in front of the aircon.
Oh and thanks for everyones kind words re: Brit's pony crisis... I have decided i just have to distract her by keeping her busy and then she is not so upset. Poor little poppett..
wow kymmie didnt realise you were from perth too thought it was just me and alison....the only routine we have doesnt involve bub but i start baths at 4:30 so i can start dinner at 5 and eat at 5:30 so we can relax and settle before bed...hunter at 6 niesha 6:30-7,mally 7-7:30 no routine with serenity though i gained more weigt throug xmas like 4kg or so now i have about 10 i would like to loose i think if i can be a consistant 68-69 kg i will be happy since as a skinny teen i was 65 kg
we did it from a week after too we go in the laundry sometimes or the back shed somtimes lol bit i have no issues with kids in the room,i got over
it and if you think about ur earliest memory its nowhere near this age
Hi Heavenly - thanks Mon, you're right, I guess it's easier to give advice than take it yourself huh! I think it's just cause I'm no spring chook anymore and I refuse to be one of those types who lets themselves go. I've always been lucky to look younger than I am but I'm fearing that's slipping by these days LOL. I need to get into exercise now, haven't been able to either until now because of the c-section as you know....even DTD last night has left me feeling a little sore in the tummy today. If only it wasn't so darn hot lately huh!
Hi Kymmy - how stinking hot is it! I'm off to my sister's for a swim soon myself, just waiting for DH to get home. If he's not here in another hour I'm going without him LOL.
Us girls should catch up for sure. There's another girl in the December forum from Perth too. We could have our own little BB catch up.
Thanks for all your kind encouragement for my feelings on my weight, glad I'm not the only one. I don't even care if I technically weigh what I do but I hate that you can see it! I was 59 kgs before I was pregnant (would like to have been 57 or 58) and I'm now 67kgs.........I'm only 5"3 so I have to be careful. I just hate it but oh well. To think I got no stretch marks but I've been left with a guts, I think I'd rather the stretch marks and a flatter tummy thanks!
Kymmy all I wanted whan I was a kid was a pony and my oldies were tightrrrrses and didnt even take me on a pony ride lol so I think you are an ace mum for encouraging your dd even if it is exxy.
Ubba I agree with the expressing, I cant get bugger all out with one but chubba bubba V seems to have a great method of extraction lol. I hear you on the sex jokes, yep nothing sexier than a whining hubby Dh tries to turn every conversation into a dirty sex innuendo and it gets old really quickly...Poor him..not. how obvious are those "massages" Cracks me up..
Alison Oh doesnt it suck! I thought I looked really nice in my dress but a couple of photos that were taken show that I am super chubby now...Time to bust out the ellyptical machine methinks! Saying that Im thinking of hoeing into some sorbet in the freezer hahaha...sad. You are not a failure silly billy, and if I ere there Id go walking with you and we could call each other fatty boom bah names to keep motivated lol...
Heavenly thats awesome on your night out, lol on jose staying up thats something mine would do too..I cant wait to have a nice glass of wine ooohhh Id kill for one right now but Ill have to settle for sorbet..
Sorbet is calling me... Ok Ill be back...Ok sorbet and frozen berries...excercise tomorrow I promise...
Arimeh, oh well you dont have to decide straight away anyhow hehe..I think 2 would do me but I really want dh to have a son so I would maybe go to 3 if we got 2 girls (not that Id care I think 2 girls or boys is nice too
JDsmum, not that I think I know so please dont think Im telling you what to do but V was waking in 20 mins too because she was fighting out of the wrap but now on her belly she is out cold..Could it be a positioning thing? I tried one arm out, both out, wrapped tight, side lying etc but the tummy is the winner here...just a thought. I also found once she was in the cot she was much better too, like she has more air or room around her or something..Oh and we had a mega screamer last night so she is not entirely over her psycho phase yet and if she is anything like me or dh she never will lmao..
Snowy, did you get that showbag thing from Target? I too had a laugh at the toddler cup but Ill just chuck it in the cupboard for waaay later lol. It was bedlam at the sale though all these crazy pram pushers trying to get past each other..
Hi everyone else!
Ha we all must have dtd on our minds, I dtd this morning too and wasnt really in the mood but thought Id better show a bit of love to the poor thing...I ended up having a fab time too lol I think leaving it alone a bit makes for a better O but there was a while there I was like dont even bother there is nothing sexy about a screaming baby...V was asleep in her cot though after peeing on me in the wee hours of the morning (accidental joke) We went to a birthday for a 1 yr old yest and V and I came home around 8 where she proceeded to crack it big time because she hadnt slept properly so by 11 I was shattered and just took her to bed...I think we both had a crappy nights sleep because we both slept again from 730 to 11 then she has also slept from 12 to 2 and now is back asleep since 4 and its around 530 nw...ahhhh Makes me think I should stay home for a couple of days to let her calm down after a busy week.
Anyhoo I have blahed on for a while again so Ill go now and make the bed seeing as I had to wash everything this morning...
Hi Natty - ha ha you made me smile with your post, thanks! Fatty Boombah is what I call one of my dogs, now I just call myself it LOL so funny you said that. I wish you were here so we could go walking, your sense of humour is right up my alley! These Target showbags, I thought we were supposed to get one, how do you get it?
Got to 42 point something in Perth today, friggin hot! I did have a lovely swim at my sister's however, 41 again tomorrow too, groan. Like you Natty, I might stay home tomorrow as had a busy week last week and want to see if it settles Amelia a bit better at night. Got lots on this week too!
Went to the GP for the pap smear, hop on the table knickers off & she says 'Oh, there's a note here from the Ob to wait 6 to 12 weeks before re-doing the smear" So I've gotta go back again in 3 weeks.
I've got work to do today, I'm doing it one handed as Mr I decided he can't stay asleep if I'm not holding him. Lucky he's so cute!
Hey Alison, the lady at th checkout gave it to me as I was paying.. Didnt have much in it, just bootees and a wrap which I have plenty of, Ill just give them to the next pregnant woman I see. It would be so nice if SOMEBODY out of this group was near I think Im the only Sydneysider...I forgot to invite Mikayla to the bb meetup..It would be great to meet her but I think it would have to come from her. I think pushing V on her would be hard but she is so gracious, asking about her etc that if she is that open I need to respect that and not be wierd about it either. I just have to say that her loss really affected me at the time it happened and for some reason now I feel a real protectiveness of her (Mikayla) now does that sound weird?
Hi Snowy, bummer on getting all the way there and being told that. Isnt it amazing how good you can get one handed?
Hi everyone!
Afm, V is asleep and has been since 1130 so expecting her to wake up anytime now. She went to bed last night at 7ish and didnt wake until 12 then up till 2 and awake at 6. I think I preferred the 11 to 6 thing so well see what she does today...The nice thing about it was the evening was nice and relaxing and dh and I got to hang out and I got to use a knife and fork for dinner!!Woot!
This morning she has been upset because she has been pooing lol but since I put her down I have gotten dinner prepared for cooking tonight, made a pastry for our rhubarb we are growing in our garden (read rhubarb pie) and made dh some muffins for work. I love making them for him and he shows them off at work lol..
Does anyone eles bubbaz hate doing poos? V carries on like the poo is killing her The crying lasts from when she must feel it pushing on her bumhole till its out, it comes in waves like cramps iykwim? so she could have 10 or so good pushes over 1/2 hour that she feels she has to cry for. At least now I know what it is so I just try and comfort her as much as I can at the time.
I hope you are all having a lovely day, I think Ill wait till V wakes, and next time she sleeps Ill have a little nanna nap too
