Oh dear, I think we all need a :grouphug:
Rach, you shouldn't feel bad about telling us how great Luke is doing. I think it's important that we all share our good and bad experiences because we all know that there are good times and there are bad times. When I'm going through a rough patch and I hear lots of good stories it gives me hope that things will get better for me soon. I don't think you are lying when you say Luke sleeps through. Leila sleeps through. Almost every night she sleeps from about 9-6. I don't let her cry, not ever. She can be very difficult to settle sometimes so it takes a lot of patience to get her to sleep but I know that once she is down she usually sleeps through. Of course there are nights when she is unsettled and at around 12 weeks she had an off week which was really tough, but generally speaking she sleeps 9 hours every night. I'm not lying and I don't let her cry. I know that I am very lucky and I feel for anyone that has a more difficult time than I do.
LJ. We all feel for you hun. We have all had tough times and know how hard it can be, for these tough times to continue on must be unbearable and my heart goes out to you. Please don't leave us. We can help you! Just coming in here to vent is a great way to start feeling better, I know it always helps me. From what I have heard most MG are really *****y so don't let it bother you too much. If you don't enjoy it then don't go. There are plenty of forums on here to help you and give you the advice that you need. Have you been to see your CHN recently? They are great for helping you deal with things when it all gets too much, they have so much advice and experience to share. Perhaps if you want to share with us more specifically the things you find most difficult then we can try and offer you some advice? The girls in here have given me heaps of advice that has helped, things that I wouldn't have even thought of because I am so clueless sometimes! Motherhood is tough. It's really tough and I've found it's largely about trial and error. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't and this can change from day to day which makes it almost impossible to figure out! Patience is the most important thing but when you are so tired, stressed and overwhelmed patience is not something you haave a lot of. You need a break hun. A good sleep will do you the world of good but I know this is easier said than done. Can you leave DS with your in laws for an afternoon or even overnight one night so you can get a good sleep? Sleep deprivation is a killer! Everything is impossible when you are sleep deprived yet given the same situation when you are well rested, things don't seem so bad after all.
Seems like DH's are a common theme! Most of them just don't get it. Mine is being such a pain at the moment. I have been really sick with a horrible cold. If I didn't have a baby I probably would of spent 2 days in bed just sleeping and trying to recover, that's how bad I've felt. You would think that DH would be sympathetic and help out more? Nope, stupid jerk still makes time to go to the gym after work and do all the things he wants to do before he comes home to help. Then he wants to know what I am doing for dinner :wall: He wont take Leila to entertain her and give me a break until he is changed and refreshed and totally comfortable - mind you I'm a mess in vomit encrusted clothes! Last night he had her for no more than 10 minutes before saying, 'time to go back to mummy' WTF??? No way I say. Then of course I feel terrible for saying I don't want my baby. Oh, ok he says I'll keep looking after her for a bit - in a tone that suggests he is doing me the biggest favour in the world and I should be forever grateful for the effort he has gone to. Then she is tired because she's hardly slept all afternoon and I'm exhausted so I say maybe he should put her to bed but no, he can't because there is something he is watching on TV! At this point I crack it and say "I never get to watch tv! I miss everything, every night because I am entertaining our daughter or trying to put her to bed while you sit on the couch watching crap and drinking wine" Then I carry on about how sick I am and how unsupportive he is etc etc. So I put her to bed but then he offers to sleep in the spare room with the monitor so I can sleep without listening out for her or getting up if she wakes. Great, I go to bed. An hour later she is screaming. The poor thing has my cold and is all stuffed up and stressed because she can't breathe through her nose. Of course DH can't settle her (not that he tried too hard, he never does) so I am up, feeling like crap and trying to settle her down while DH cracks it and says how unreasonable it is that he should be up with her when he has to work tomorrow. OMG did I lose it then!! As you know, I am now back at work not to mention sick as a dog. Anyway, my DH is a huge pain in the butt at times and he wonders why I never want to DTD!! (sorry tmi ). He has no idea how hard and tiring motherhood can be. I do pretty much everything. I'm now back at work, I'm sick and I'm struggling. I have no family or close friends here to help. I have to soldier on and do it all myself. There is noone here to give me a break, not ever (except when my mum flies up for a visit). 24/7 I am on call and I am tired. Wow, what a vent I am having! Guess I'm more over it than I thought. Thankfully I'm starting to feel a bit better, still feel pertty rotten though :(
Tammie, MG is mothers group and RAK is random act of kindness ;) Also, thanks for the advice on wrapping (unwrapping).
Hi to everyone else, hope you are well.
Fi x

Fi - I'm in Newcastle too so if you ever want to vent in person let me know. I've got a few mummies I meet up with every couple of weeks. Might even be able to get DH to give yours a boot up the bum. Starting to realise how good he is. Hmmmmmm, maybe I need to start being nicer :shakehead:.
-
Thanks for the welcome back guys.
LJ - I feel seriously bad now for saying that Jasper is such a good baby!! I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a rough time.
Just to clarify - Jasper goes down around 8pm and if he sleeps through (doesn't happen every night) that takes him to about 3am - and then after that he is back into his 3-4 hr cycle - so I may still get up twice to feed even though my baby is sleeping through...iykwim? Sometimes people may make things sound better than they are because they just love to gloat about their bubs - which is easy to do sometimes!
The reason I am so stoked with Jasper though is because I had a terror time with DS1 - who was very colicky and didn't sleep through til 6.5 months. Having said that - many babies don't sleep through until around 6 months or later - its certainly more common than a 3 month old doing a 7pm-7am stint. I believe they're out there, but I am still yet to see that for myself!!
As for your hubby - I don't really know what to say. I have had big blows with mine in the past regarding this issue, and I am coping well doing most things myself atm- but thats only because i think Jasper is a relatively easy baby. Were he not so settled - i would expect a lot more from DH and would no doubt have had some serious words with him.
The only other thing i can possibly suggest is, have you tried the tummy sleeping? I feel bad for suggesting it, but by golly, it has saved my sanity!!
I am in Perth too - and I'm pretty cool in real life (lol) so please just PM me if you want me to come out and give you some releif. I have a double pram, and a wrap - so I can pop your DS in my pram (or wrap if he prefers it) and go for a REALLY long walk whilst you sleep or hang out washing etc. I don't have much of a life atm so its cool with me.
PS - I abandoned my MG with DS1 too - I think that is more common that you realise hon! Most of the women in my group were between the ages of 35 and 40, and they seemed to have an uncanny inability to relate to anyone under the age of 30. I thought it was lame - coz i don't care if your 17 or 47- (we were all in the same boat!) so I left.
Ok I'll stop rambling now...... my house is messy too.
PS - for Williams skin - start taking probiotic capsules and flaxseed capsules daily (if your breastfeeding) and guaranteed this will help to clear it up. Topically - pure calendula cream from the health shop is a trillion times better than sorbelene which is full of questionable ingredients (sorry!) Probiotics need to be kept in fridge. If you had a c/section you both will need the probiotics anyway as the antibiotics you take after c/section kill off the good bacteria that is usually passed from you to bubs - affecting their digestion, thus making them more unsettled.
If not bfding - get some infant probiotic powder (from the fridge of health stores and selected chemists) and add it to his formula. Making the switch to Bellamy's Formula may help too - its certified organic (derived from cows which are fed on organic pastures and are not treated with hormones and antibiotics - so no pesticide or chemical residues) but its the same cost as most others on the market. Another way to clear the skin when formula feeding is with alkaline water - get a water alkaliser (google this) to increase the Ph of your water at home and use that when you mix it up.
Sorry if I sound like a nutter - but hey, I'm a health freak and this is what I do!!
-
JB I am in awe of your knowledge of natural options and ways to 'cure' things!!!!!
-
Thanks Emma, that is really sweet I'd love to catch up. If your DH is doing all the right things then you definitely need to start being nicer!
I had another fight with DH last night where he basically told me that i should stop complaining about being sick and not getting a break because I'm a mum now and thats just how it is grrrr!! Thing is, he's actually a really lovely guy and usually very helpful, great around the house etc. Just when it comes to DD we lock heads constantly (we are both aries by the way so no surprise really!). He gets so angry with me when I tell him he needs to try harder to settle her etc because he thinks that he is trying and I'm not giving him any credit. He does try, I know that, he just has limited patience and it frustrates me that I have to try and try and try and try until DD settles but DH tries once and then its all too hard and left to me. He thinks he is trying really hard but the task is simply impossible for him so its up to me to sort it out. I don't know why he thinks it is so much easier for me because it's not, if at first I don't succeed I just have to keep trying again and again and again because I have no other option, I have no one to hand her over to when I think I have tried hard enough. Neither of us wants to budge and we simply cannot get along at the moment because of this issue :wall:
On a positive note I'm not carrying around as much baby weight as I thought as I tried on a few pre preg clothes and they all fit! A little tighter than they used to be but they fit, so yay for me!
-
Oh just want to say that I the suggestion of tummy sleeping is not a bad idea from JB. I know so many of you will think I'm a terrible mother and it is absolutely the wrong thing to do but my DD is a tummy sleeper. I would much prefer it if she wasn't but that's the way things have turned out for us and I am comfortable with it now. I guess it is something that everybody makes their own judgement call on so I don't want to tell anyone that they should or shouldn't do it - like I said I wish my DD wasn't a tummy sleeper but after huge dramas, no sleep and constant screaming (for weeks) we figured out she is just so much more comfortable that way.
-
Fi - don't feel bad for letting the your little girl sleep on her tummy... we all have to do what works! Same as for adults, some of us will be tummy sleepers, some side and some back - we do what is comfortable to us, why should a bub be any different?
X.

Thanks Tam :)
Sorry girls, I always seem to be posting me me me stuff at the moment. I'm just going through a rough patch. Today was simply awful  I'm still not feeling 100%, I can't believe how much this cold has knocked me around, poor Leila has had it too. Anyway I had to go to work today, I called in sick on Friday because I felt dreadful so thought I'd better go in today as I have so much to do, I'm stressed already. I didn't want to be there, it was a horrible day after a really bad night with about 4 hours sleep (Leila slept well just stupid me couldn't switch off). I rang child care a couple of times and was told Leila was ok, a little off and didn't want one of her bottles but she wasn't too bad. I tried not to worry. But at 2:30pm they rang me and said they were really worried about her, she was very unsettled, wouldn't have her bottle and had a high temperature and wanted permission to give her panadol and told me that I needed to come and collect her straight away. Of course I burst into tears and ran out of the office to go and get my poor little baby! Her temperature is coming down now and she had a pretty good feed from me and is now sleeping so I'm hoping she is ok. I really don't know what to do. I'm finding it very difficult to cope at the moment. It's not that she's a difficult baby, she's wonderful it's just I feel like I have so much on my plate. I hate that I've had to return to work so early, I leave my baby with strangers and now she is sick and I've had those strangers tell me to come and collect her because she is sick. All the while I can't seem to be productive at work because of my guilt and responsibilities as a mother and to top it off DH & still can't seem to get along :crying:

hi ladies
sorry for the lack of replies from me the last few days. my computer is broken and DH hasnt gone to get it fixed and he wont let me on his computer coz he rekons everytime i get on it i break it LOL so im on his lap top at the moment coz ive had a really rough few days and he's feeling rather guilty for being so unhelpful. but ill talk about that another time. im trying to cook tea while DH plays his stupid computer and Miss A is alseep so trying to sneak in some BB time ;)
but i couldnt read and not post fi..
i just wanna give you a great big warm fuzzy  you poor poor thing. i know how you are feeling. obviously im not at work but i will be soon and i feel what you are feeling. its not fair is it :( but its just something that has to be done. what i would give to be a SAHM but sadly its just not that easy for some of us.
know that we are all thinking of you and if i get time later tonight i will be back.
turns out dh is staying til thursday this week and he's been driving me batty this week so hopefully i last lol.
:grouphug:
-
ok ao im back, Miss A is atill asleep which im not sure is a good thing, im tempted to wake her up. ive tried to but she is in a deep sleep..
which brings me to my first complaint lol, for the last 3 days, she has been SOOO grumpy like sooky whingey making me pull my hair out grumpy :( and i feel SOO aweful for gettin mad, coz its not her fault. and im not mad at HER im just tired and frustrated and mad at DH, he's been here, he can hear her crying and he does nothing. admitedly he just got a tattoo on his forearm on friday and has to keep putting bepathen on it for about 3-4 days, so he cant pick her up, which is a great excuse (not) i just feel so guilty for wearing down the way i have. and you know i dont mind when she's like this and its just me, but when he's here and he does nothing and then i truelly am the only one looking after her, i have pointed this out and he's like "but i CANT pick her up!!" GRR and he's getting another one done NEXT week he's back too so its gonna be the same crap all over again,
she's teething, you can see the other tooth just under the skin, i think once it breaks the skin she'll be much better but at the moment she's just miserable. she's fine if im holding her and walking around but if she's on the floor or im just sitting with her she is crying.
FIL has gone in for his surgery today (it was like 5 hours surgery) basically (in stevies terms lol) they're ta.king out a bit of his spine, putting a metal cage around one of his vertiba (i think) and putting 2 metal rods down each side of his spine (just in his neck) so because of this surgery DH isnt going back tomorrow he's going back on thursday, we'll be waiting til wednesday then we'll be driving down to brisbane to see him. DH just didnt wanna go incase something (god forbid) went wrong,so he'll be here for longer which will be interesting. we havent been getting along very well the last few weeks. but thats a different post all together.
anyway i best wake my chicken up. i want to get some sleep tonight as well lol.
 again fi, i really hope things get better for you soon. your doing a fantastic job. you really are :)
much love ladies

Thanks Stevie you are so sweet! I hope Miss A gets back to her normal happy self soon. Everyone says that teething is a difficult time so I feel for you, especially as she is teething quite early. Most of us have a little while before we have to deal with it! I hear ya when it comes to DH and it being harder when he is home. I find I get more frustrated with everything when my DH is around because when he's here I expect that he will help and when he doesn't I get really cranky. I think the whole tattoo thing is a lamo excuse!! Tell him I (and many others) had major abdominal surgery to have their babies yet still managed to hold them, feed them, pick them up, change them etc etc!! I hope your FIL recovers well, sounds like quite an ordeal.
Well little Leila is still unwell and I really don't know what to do. I'm waiting for my dr to open so I can take her in and get her checked out. She still has a temperature and is not herself at all. Her temp hovered between 37-38 all night. I'm not 100% sure of her normal base temp but I did take it about a week ago when she first started to get sick as I thought she had a temp then but it was only around 36.5, so I don't know if it was even a little raised then or not. I have a base temp on the lower side (low 36) so hers might be too, so to get up to 38 is pretty high I think. But she is feeding well from me so that is good. I'm managing to keep her temp down with padadol, cool baths and wash cloths on her head etc but of course this is only a short term solution. I'm getting so worried about her and it is so hard to know what to do. I thought about taking her to hospital last night but then thought I was probably just over reacting as panadol did bring her temp down and she was feeding well. Then again I don't want to play it down if something is really wrong. This is when I miss my mum most, she would know what to do! She is still quite congested so I guess it is still just the cold, I'm still congested and have a headache too. My poor little girl, I just want her to be better!!
-
qucik hello well my boys are both on anti-bi's :( Luke has been snuffly and has a slight cough, Jack has been having high temps so got them into dr today thought may as well get them check Jack has yucky pusy tonsils apparently and Luke has crackles on his chest :( so am glad I took them both, nearly changed my mind but thought ah well its bulk billed if they are fine no dramas
-
sorry ive been such a slacker lately. Been busy with hair clips  Also my mum got bad news, looks like she may have bresat cancer, in both breast's. Praying its not maligment
Evangeline, hahah has been on the roll. I need to glue her down or something. Can't even change her bottom now without her trying to escape.
Anyway sorry again girls, hope the sick kids get better soon. Hate having them unwell and can't do much to help them.

WB rach and DM xx
So good to hear your business is going to well Rach :) and i am so sorry to hear about your mum, all goes well
afm: FIL should be coming home tomorrrow, his surgery went, and he's recoverying nicely.
:leap: Miss A's second tooth has finally broken the skin, and she is much happier, so in turn so is Mummy :D have had such a rough few days with her and i feel bad for getting frustrated coz she is such a good baby, i feel like a bad mum gettin a little cranky about it. and Fi your right, his tattoo is a lame excuse :shakehead: my computer is stil broken.. not happy. and theres all these little jobs that need to be done, that he's said he will do.. which not surpirsingly he hasnt done, and im so sick of naging at hom, imjust over it.
at my MG yesterday we were all sitting there (bar a few of the ladies) having a whinge about our DHs and mine seemed like the worst then one of the mums was like "please say something lnice about your husbands, i feel bad coz mine is near perfect" she's a bit of a hippy, so happy go lucky, that im not surpirsed she got such a good husband, its the only kind of guy she would attract, but it just got me so down thinking that im not with such an easy going guy. dh is so.. Jon. thats the only word for him, he's a nice guy. a great friend and he works so hard. but as a husband he kind if doesnt get it. its almost like he expected me to just strap myself in and go along for the ride, ya know. its suposed to be about both of us but its usually just about him and i have to agree, i dont realy get much of a say. *sigh*
anyway i best be off.
sorry to be such a downer again LOL
i promise one of these days ill come in and be super positive about everything.
xx
-
Rach hun, thinking of you during this difficult time and praying that your mum is ok :comfort: go little Evangeline with the rolling, that's so cute
Stevie.... all I can do is send you  re your DH. That is a bit strange that the lady in your MG said what she did. Good for her but I think she missed the point. All I can say is that you are both so young and you have so much ahead of you. When miss A gets a bit bigger it will be easier for you to do more things for yourself and hopefully become more of an equal in your partnership. I vaguely remember in an earlier post you said something about not knowing what to do career wise or not having the money to do the course that you want to do?? You will get there. Is it something you can do in stages - like do a certificate II/III/IV/Diploma or something? Maybe you could start with the most basic training/qualifications and slowly build on it as you get more money and experience etc? I have only just finished my degree and I am almost 30! At 22 I still had no idea what to do with myself ;) I think it's important for you to focus on yourself and do things that bring you happiness, independence and empowerment which in turn should improve your role in your relationship as it seems like your DH is quite dominant. Just be patient and slowly make changes that will have a positive effect on your relationship. I hope that makes sense!
-
thanks Fi  all your support is wonderful :)
im still in 2 minds as to what i want to do, but i do know that i want to have another baby (im hoping to be pregnant at the end of this year early next year) once we have our family sorted out then ill start looking further into the future :)
-
DM - can you add me to your FB. Tam Wenman. Thanks!
Rach2281 - i hope your little angels are back to sleeping well at night for you. I know you had a rough time for a bit there, but hopefully it is passing as they get better.
Rach75 - I can't wait to see your website. Obviously hair accessories are not so good for Eli but i know a few mums that might be interested and can refer your site on. Also, congrats on E rollling, it is so cute. Also, best of luck with your mum... that's horrible news and i hope things work out for your family.
Fi - I hope L is better now.... it's no fun having a sick bubby! (or a sick you and an unhelpful husband!).
Stevie - Yay for A's 2nd tooth!!!!!! Don't ever feel bad for venting about DH. We all need to from time to time.
AFM, monday week ago E rolled from tummy to back (no surprises there since he hates being on his tuumy).. i made him do it 6 times that day just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. He also has little white teeth buds under tee skin on the bottom, front of his mouth... we are just waiting for them to break through but i know this can take a loooooong time if they want to!
I have booked my first bubby and mummy holiday.... E and I are heading to Sydney for Easter week (DH is staying home as he is just about to start a new job so won't be taking extra hols at that time). The trip was all started so we can go to a 1st bday party.... should be fun although am a little apprehensive about being by myself with bubby for a week. In saying that, there will be other family around to help, but i want to keep things as normal as possible for E so i don't want other people feeding him, putting him to bed doing things that they normally would not do etc.... i am a control freak.
I am thinking about going back to work in approx May instead of end Sept as i think i job is going to be available at work which is 3 days a week.... if i don't take it and go back in Sept i have to go back FT... am thinking it is better to go back earlier and have the security of a PT position since there are very few options for me to do my job PT. I am sad though cos i know i will miss my bubby soooo much.
Hope everyone is feeling better and all the colds and flus are clearing up!
x Tam.
-
tam I think you have the wrong Rach  is all good
so do any of you girls live in brisbane I am going to be there with the boys 19-22nd april... will be staying in edens landing with a cousin but she works during the day so am free on the 20/21 to catch up with anyone if ya want to that is
-
Rach - hope your boys are feeling better - just make sure you get them onto a good probiotic supplement once they are done with their antibiotics - this will replace all the good bacteria that the antibiotics kill off with the bad. Your local health food store or pharmacy should stock them in the fridge.
XX

AFM, everythings ok. no whinges this time so thats a plus ;) Just enjoying Miss A while im still a full time SAHM. i know its silly of me to feel like im never going to see her when i go back to work lol. Im trying to lok at this positively and say, well at least the ILs get some good quality time with her, as will DH and then when i am home with her ill love being with her a million times more.
We has our last 'parenting class' on tuesday, and our MG starts next tuesday we'll be ging to one of the ladies houses. im a bit excited :) im hoping that when i go back to work im still able to do it and if not im hoping they'll be happy to change the day as none of them have to go back to work for a long time (if ever, the lucky bums ;) )
DH comes home today, im looking forward to seeing him, Miss A and i havent been well (just the cold thats going around) and all i want is him home with us xx

-
Stevie PM me your numbers and I will see how I am going with driving etc might try and work something out :)
-
Wow it's quiet in here!
I just thought i would make a quick post while Eli is sleeping. We are off to get his 4 mth needles this morning so i am hoping all goes well and he is a tired and snuggly little bub after (that's how he was last time). I love bubby cuddles with him, especially in this cooler, rainy weather.
I started Eli on solids over the weekend. The paeds dr had said it was fine to start him at 4 mths and we haven't had any concerns with him as far as sensitivities/allergies go so i figured i would see how he liked it.
The first day he was not so sure about what was happening but the next couple of days he has loved it and as soon as the spoon is out with something on it the mouth opens and he makes little noises and waves his arms around excitedly. He loves to eat!!!!
The first couple of days i gave him one of the Rafferty's Garden mixes of apple, pear and cinnamon but yesterday i gave him farex... i was surpised he liked the farex because bubs that i know have hated that stuff!
Well fingers crossed today goes well - and for you too Rach cause i know you mentioned on FB your needles were today as well.
Hope to hear from you all soon,
Tam. x.
-
I think its really quiet in here because we all have each other on fb and can see what everyone is up to on there plus we're very busy with our growing bubbas!
I for one am going to make a really big effort to jump on here more often;) As I love this group you're all wonderful :)
Tam- Good luck today!!!
RachB- How is your mum doing???? By the sounds of things on fb Lilli is most diffenatly visiting!
Thought Id share with you what sometimes happens to me......I walk through a scent that is my dads aftershave:) I know its him! Not the same as having them here but I feel lucky to have that:)
Am I the only one starting solids at 6 months? Annabelle tried them at 6months but didn't really eat till 10 months. I just figured Id do the same with Lucy. MCHN said at this age and 6 months solids are just an education thing at moment.

Hi all,
Kass, Rach E and Boomba - I was going to start at 6 mths too but when paeds said 4 mths I thought i would see how Eli was going and then decide. I went at 4 mths because he is basically the avg size of a 6 mth old and i have found he has not been taking his bottles well atm.. he doesn't finish them and seems to get really bored, so i thought i would give it a go. I was pretty surprised that he loved the food though!
LJ - i always look forward to getting Eli weighed too. They grow so fast which is a beautiful thing but also a sad thing...
When Eli was weighed yesterday he has gained 1kg over past month (little heffer) so is now 7.7kg. He was difficult to measure length because he was kicking and screaming (and this was before the needles!) but he is a little over 65cm... about 66-67 we estimated given his movement yesterday! I am going to get him re-measured in the next few days. The troubling thing for me is that with his height and weight he is almost the perfect proportion for a 6 month old (i think it is 68cm and 8kg) but he is only 4 mths..... again the whole sad and happy thing......
Eli and I are off to the mum and baby movies today to see Valentine's Day. This is only the second time we have gone to the movies but i am going to try and go most weeks. A local cinema does $6.50 sessions which makes it really cheap little outing and there is a movie to take kids into most weeks.
Have a great day and hi to anyone i have missed, or hasn't posted recently - we love you all so please post again!

Tam- The debate of solids at 4 or 6 months is a tricky one! Do whats right for you and Eli:)
I base my choice on 6 months pron because Im breastfeeding and think Lucy is getting everything she needs;) In the end you know your baby the best! And whats best for him:)
