Sorry if I sounded like a know-it-all Pooley but I just had to share what I knew about such a serious thing. It's not really their ability to hold up their head that you should be thinking about, it's how their little bodies would cope and be affected in a car accident. Facing backwards they would just kind of slide in their car seat, much less impact. But facing forward whiplash is much more likely and can be lethal to their fragile spines. Its hard to explain in words, you really need to see demo, like the You Tube video for it to make sense. It's your decision of course but I just had to say something as, like I said, I was shocked and hadn't considered what would happen in an accident.

Taurean - I've seen that you tube video and I bawled, very very very scary stuff. Ethan will be rear facing for as long as possible. So far he is a happy traveller and loves his capsule but even if he gets stroppy I'm not turning him until I have to. He'll just have to learn to like it lol!

Pooley - Wow Frazer is a such a big boy! I love that ticker pic of him. Like Olive said it is illegal here in Vic to have bub under six months forward facing. But I do agree that they should take into consideration weight and not just age.

Art - Ethan was quite impressed by wrapping paper too. He favourite was the red and green cellophane lol!

Hope you all had a lovely first Christmas with your bubs!

Ethan has gone back to not sleeping much during the day. I'm hoping its just because we have been so busy with Christmas etc and have been out a lot. Hopefully a few quiet days at home this week will sort him out. Fingers crossed anyway....!

1.What can I do if my child is too big for the restraint for their age?
The new laws aim to cater for the majority of children, however there is a provision to allow a child who is too tall or heavy for the recommended restraint to use the restraint in the next age category.

Taurean- I know you didn't mean to come across as a know it all. DH have made a decision based on manufacturers recommendations for our car seat and obviously the size and weight that Frazer is. Going from the above quote we aren't doing anything illegal in regards to putting Frazer in the forward-facing position.

Artechim- I'm not sure why you thought you had to post 2 explanations about your decision to change William's seat around. I full understood your reasoning in your first post. Your decision was made in the best interests of you and him, which I believe is the basis of most parenting anyway.
