Laurin : congrats
Caddie : I'm so sorry bout your health issues :comfort: hope you can find releif soon
Maz : everytime I read a FB update about you  I feel for you it sounds so painful but :pray:it all heals nicley
Ness : wow thats a long wait and  for things going well with the new man
Jodi : geez your pg is flying by
all you girls with kids starting out in kindy or CC make me a tad jelous  Jack doesn't start kindy till next year unless he gets called up this year which is a good chance as he is next on list fro call ups wont be till next term if he does, I have been considering putting him in CC but our centre is only a 1/2 day centre with limited spaces and I feel bad if I take one when someone he really needs it can't I would only eb doing it for interaction but then we go to craft wed and fri, swimming wed, and playgroup most thurs so maybe he doesn't really need it LOL
Maz you asked how the boys are both doing well growing like weeds... but Luke has decided to turn back into a newborn with sleep :shakehead: he was sleeping thru no wake ups about 10-11hrs each night now he sleeps for about 5hrs then stirs grunt groans calls out as such from midnight onwards and wakes for a feed around 3.30am *sigh* cause he still wants back up around 5-6am ... bloody ridiculous
-
Congratulations Laurin! How fun! Had you ruled out another, or just not yet?
Yay at us being so active in here again! :D And uh oh because that is when I start to forget people.... Let me know if I missed you and I will write you a poem or something!
Rach: Oh no at Luke's sleep! Is he teething some nasty teeth, or having a growth spurt? I hope he sorts himself out soon.
Don't feel bad about kindy, it sounds like Jack is heaps busy! Craft sounds cool as, who runs that?
Jodi - That's great news about your bro's girlfriend! How is your own pregnancy going?
Oh Maz. I really hope that you're healing really well. xo
Owie at the vein Ness. That seems like a long wait.
Caddie, I hope the arthritis place can help you too! Far out you sickies!
ETA: I remembered I missed Shell, but that's because reading her post reminded me about the speech stuff! Hi Shell!
Where are the other Sept slackers??
As for us, Speech went really well on Friday, she was really impressed with how far he's come, and said we must have been working really hard with him! :D
Now he uses 'want' regularly, and is starting to make more sentences like 'want more cordial' or 'no more light on' which is pretty exciting. Exciting because it's a huge leap forward, and it's an indication that he might learn this speech thing really quickly now that the speechie can help us figure out games to get his attention - we are doing lots of sabotaging, hiding his toys so he has to ask for them or even when we know what he's asking making him use the right words.
But he doesn't get frustrated like he used to, which I think is an indicator that he's more confident about talking now (which perhaps is the thing that makes all the difference with him?).
Our new words to learn are 'look' 'play' 'that's a' and 'where/there'. And also maybe 'need' and 'move'.
He's learning new nouns (naming words) all the time, but you can't talk well without those joining words, so they're our focus. So rather than 'Thomas' and then pointing to the track and saying 'track' hopefully we will get him saying 'Want play Thomas, need track'. (and then eventually 'I want to play with Thomas and I need some track'. Amazing the difference those joining words can make!
Well that's my ramble! Thanks for being interested guys, it's so cool to read about your kids and where they're up to. We've come such a long way with our kids!
Anyway, this house is not in toooo bad a state (for once!) but if I don't sort things out today I'll be behind again, so I'd better move on (to facebook and other threads and a coffee and shower and THEN the housework, haha).
-
Nelle I forgot you in my other post I'm bad meant to ask how speech was comign along sounds like its going well
craft is run by a local lady she started a website selling toys and doing parties (like tupperware but for toys etc) anyway its got so good she opened a store intown here 3 days a week and does craft on wed and fri for $4 per child runs for around a hr, is good for her business as its usually stuff you can buy from her if kids really liek it, things like foam frames, paper bag puppets, paper plate animals, sand art... its a great morning out and I am making new friends rather than my little MG friends :)
-
Oh geez I must have missed the news about Anna and Scott, thats sad :(
Uni classes start tomorrow but Im not sure if I will be going because Rip and Stell arent cleared for daycare til thurs and I cannot get ahold of my stupid husband so he can ask for the days off grr. All 3 boys have been sick with croup; I had to rush Rip to the ED on tues night because he woke blue in the face and struggling to breathe. Scariest moment of my life. Gp is pretty sure he has asthma so will have to do testing for that when he is better.
I def think I am going to love Uni, Im already gearing up for my first assignment due in 5wks and itching for placements to start in Oct. I love getting on the train and being a.l.o.n.e then walking the 10min from the city to Uni. I might change my mind when its freezing and Im trying to fit in 40hrs a week of study, a husband who's still as useless as ever (although he's mega useless right now cause he is on crutches  ) and 3 kids who never stop.
Stellan is 1 in about 5 weeks! He's been walking for about 2wks now but not fulltime as yet, he can keep up with the other boys quicker if he crawls lol Still breastfeeding but Ive cut it down to two-three times in 24hrs so he has formula any other time he is thirsty/at daycare, til he can start cows milk. Sleep still sucks a bit but we get a night here and there where he wakes one or not at all.
Ripley is horrible. I thought I disliked Jett when he was in the throes of the terrible twos but Oh.my.goodness I REALLY dislike Rip. He just has no fear of punishment, nothing works and we have tried everything. I hate feeling that way towards him because in rare moments he can be so beautiful. I know he'll grow out of it soon enough its just really tough right now with a bossy preschooler and a newly tanty throwing nearly 12mth old thrown into the mix. 3 kids so close is definately harder when they are all toddlers than babies + a toddler you know?
Jett is FINALLY TOILET TRAINED :) He just had it 'click' after starting daycare. He still wont poop on the potty but we havent had accidents in weeks. Im not even interested in night training yet until he wakes up with dry nappies for 2wks in a row. He is such a sweetie now, definately over the horrible behaviour hump. I rarely have to yell at him for being naughty now and if I do you can bet Rip is involved as well. Put the three of them together in a room and all hell breaks loose! Separate them (or Jett and Rip atleast) and its peaceful. He's really into puzzles right now; and playing the xbox *sigh*
Sorry this is a me, me, me post. Im supposed to be unpacking and cleaning the house but I decided I deserved a sit down to do nothing important after the debacle of taking the kids to the Dr.
I am lurking and keeping up with you all!
ETA - Congrats Laurin, what an exciting surprise.
-
Ahh Anna! I knew I was forgetting at least someone! :D Hi!
I hear you on the no fear of punishment. That's Si all over. You growl and he's like 'what?' Naughty chair helps a bit...and putting him to bed the moment he gets rumbly. Honestly, I see him throw a few punches, so send him to bed, and he's asleep within 5 minutes!
It sounds like you're doing a great job with your 3 boys.
-
Anna- sounds exhusting but rewarding hun.. all kids like to push our buttons.. yay on Jett well done
Nelle- thats great about the speech therapy.. do you see them often?
As for the vein unfort its classed as elective surgery... so the wait through the public system is quite long. Should know more about the wait and the procedure when i see the official surgeon on the 30th of march... was told that i would be waiting 3-4mths to see him but got in within a month and a half so hopefully the other wait wont be as long.
-
Ness that totally sucks that the vein surgery is classed as elective, WTH??!! Since when is having a painful vein anywhere near your vagina normal. Bloody health system. I hope you get in sooner than they say.
Nelle; ah yes the throwing of punches. Ripleys specialty. He's such a rough kid really, I wonder if I wasnt impregnanted by a mixed martial arts fighter in my sleep because Rip certianly doesnt get his hugeness or rough and tumble from Ry  And its looking like Stellan is going to be exactly like Ripley, they are so alike in looks and personality its uncanny.
My poor ginger ninja is the odd one out
-
Lol. Riv is so laid back, so Si is a shock and a half! You should hear his battle cry and then he leads with his head, mouth wide open and fists flailing. Riv sort of dodges and dodges and holds him at bay, cos he knows if he fights back he'll be in trouble too, poor thing. Not that he doesn't start his fair share of rumbles too...
-
haha, Emily is EXACTLY the same, she's forever picking fights with Nina, hitting her, body slamming her ... And poor Nina is a timid little thing and she just runs away crying and locks herself in her room!
anna - that's great Jett is toilet trained now! I wouldn't worry about night training for a long time. Nina has been tt during the day for 1.5 years and she's no where near ready for night time.
I hope you can find a plan for tomorrow so you can go to uni.
ness - when Heath had to have 'elective' surgery for something the wait up here was 5-6 years :o He couldn't wait that long though as the pain was excruciating for him, and he had a chance of becoming infertile if the problem persisted. So we had to fork out $10k + for him to go private :( So I really hope you can get it sorted before 18 months.
-
Haha oh Jett is 50/50 - if he fights back it involves very girly random slapping and if he doesnt he just screams bloody murder and flys around trying to find me so he can hide behind my legs and dob. Ive copped many a fat lip getting between them; I think we're going to have to let them biff it out a little when they are older, no way will I be stepping amongst them to break it up. As long as no one's throwing hard punches a bit of wrestling and shoving cant hurt right  Must be a butch second kid syndrome or something................esp if Emily is in on it too!
Got care sorted for the two littlest dudes, Ry will watch them til 9:30am when he heads to his cardiologist appt then my sister will watch them with nephew in tow til I get home at 1:30. She invited herself to dinner so I guess Im stuck with her all arvo. Yay. She made comment about having to look after 3 kids tomorrow for a few hours; I said love I do it EVERY.SINGLE.DAY...........suck it up princess. I wouldnt ask except Im desperate. Ry will have wednesday off. So Im sorted.
-
Well I have some bad news here...I had slight bleeding yesterday, went to the doctor, she organised a scan for me this morning...so I had my scan at 8.30 am - no heartbeat and measuring very small for dates.....I feel pretty devastated at the moment so just going to take things easy. We hadn't told anyone so at least don't have to tell people bad news...and to top it off DH is away overseas at the moment....
sorry for the bad news girls and sorry for no personals.
will be back soon.
Laurin x
-
Oh laurin  terrible news. Do you have any family or close friend around to support you while DH is away? How long til he is back.
Maybe post in the miscarriage section in here, I'm sure others who have also been thru it can offer kind words.
Make sure you take time out for yourself to grieve.
-
Laurin- hugs hun, Im so sorry. I hope you have some one to lean on.
-
laurin I am so sorry to hear this. Please take care of yourself hun.
-

-
Oh Laurin Im so sorry! Definately pop your head in to the Miscarriage section. I hope youve got someone to take care of you while you need it
-

Take care xo
-
Oh Laurin. Shout out if you want some muffins and a cuppa. If it's a Monday, Tuesday or Friday I can come without the kids too (much easier!!). Take care of yourself. xo
-

L x
-
Oh NO Laurin hon Im so so sorry :(. DOnt be affraid to talk about your lose. Take sometime for yourself hon  and as Shell said maybe go into the m/c threads
We have a woo hoo here...Vy put her dummies in the bin yesterday cause they were broken and then screamed the house down at bed time for them...lucky she had one left and we've told her thats it..no more when this one if buggered. Funny thing is, she only uses it to go to sleep
I still cant believe she is 4 this year...it scares me to bit's :(
-
J had an ENT appointment today. He has extremely enlarged tonsils, and has to have them out next month. He developed sleep apnoea a couple of months ago, and with all his ear problems, they want to take them out. They think it will help with his speech as his throat is half blocked with these monster tonsils.
-
Wow Meg! Are you scared at all? I really hope it helps him feel better!
Riv driving me bonkers lately. I say here and he goes there, I say give that to me and he runs away with it....arrrrrrgh! It's really hard to stay patient with him!
On a cute note, when he's on the naughty chair and he feels ready to get off he'll say 'get off chair? No more take nutella' or whatever it is he's on the naughty chair for. At least I know I'm getting through to him and he's making the connection between crime and punishment!
-
oh me, how nerve wrecking for you. At least it's giving you some answers, and a cure for the sleep apnoea.
nelle - they're testing aren't they. Persistence is the key I reckon. Keep doing what you're doing, and he'll fully understand soon enough.
-
Oh Lilima, i hope the operation goes well for him, and hope you dealing ok with it.
Nelle- yes they are very testing, cept my problem is with a certin almost 2 yr old who thinks her poo dont stink, tantrum central atm, Annika is actually quite good. Its good that he is putting two and two together though
-
Oh are you serious! Si is like that too, poop don't stink (oh yes it does), rules don't apply, will do something really naughty right in front of my face and then turn to me and turn on the charm. He is so bold. And then is outraged and indignant when I discipline him anyway, like I've violated some obvious human right.
-
LOL yes she thinks the rules dont apply!! Tonight at dinner, she wouldnt eat but expected to get her dessert like the other two... boy did we have a woobley... it took about 30min for herto realise that mummy was serious and she finally ate.. and there for got her dessert.
-
:) J has started telling me to shut up. His friend was saying it a couple of weeks ago to her mum, and now he thinks he can say it. It is straight to the naughty corner.
Yeah it is a bit scary. He has had one operation already, so I know how he generally goes with the anthetic. As far as the sleep apnoe goes, I have been bringing him in to my bed a fair bit (He is asleep and doesn't know that I have moved him till he wakes in the morning happily surprised to see where he is) just because I have been monitoring the apnoea. sometimes he stops breathing for about 30 seconds.
Jodi - are you finding out what you are having?
-
Man we've been busy ;) cause we havent posted in here in a while
Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter. My kids are all egged out and actually asked for fruit today .
Has anyone else got problems with there 3yo's not eating? Vy barely eats these days...there is nothing and I mean nothing to her...she weights 12kg ... tank weighs 17kg and i am continuously asked if they are twins. But yep..its driving me insane! She actually ate a plate full of strawberries, grapes and watermelon today YAY!!!!
So who of us in here ar eheading to the Goldy in a few months??? I cant wait!!!
Better get back and tackle mount fold more.
-
Meg - Jodi is having another princess :)
Me me! Im going to the Goldie. Im so freakin excited but a teeny bit scared at how Ry is going to go with the kids for 4 whole days on his own.
Jett eats everything he lays eyes on Maz although he has just gone through a not eating dinner stage but thats in favour of just eating dessert instead, which obviously doesnt happen ;) He's on a watermelon kick atm too. We've been refusing him dessert like Ness mentioned til he eats his dinner. If he doesnt eat his dinner it gets put in the fridge for when he eventually whines he's hungry otherwise he goes to bed hungry.................which has never happened ofcourse lol
Im just so heartbroken over Michelle71's husband passing away :( She is a very good friend of mine and I cant even begin to imagine how much pain they are in. He was such a lovely soul. Life isnt fair.
-
I know Anna, it's unspeakably sad. :( The downs of life are just not fun.
Maz, Riv is a weird eater, both boys have had two servings of breakfast cereal today, but as the day wears on he eats less and less. I try fill him up at the start of the day, and at the end of the day sometimes I'm happy with 5 mouthfuls of dinner or a nutella sandwich. Our most successful dinners lately have been where I've served it around 3pm.
Si of course, loves it when Riv doesn't finish, since he eats the leftover food! I remember Riv used to be like that though, so I'm enjoying that while it lasts.
I am trying to think of creative things to do with all this chocolate we have. We've had it on pancakes (and then folded them over like an omelette so it all melts inside, mmm), and I'm thinking of giving muffins a shot. Maybe I'll melt some down and we can dip fruit in too.
-
Heya guys
Yep pretty busy over here as well, alot seems to be going on in my life atm.
M is moving in with us soon once we get back from Melb (and those melb ladies here if you come to the lunch will meet M as well, i hope some of you can come)
Way Way to uch chocolate given to the girls, on the plus exh new girlfriend did by them stuffed teddies instead of chocolate, so she seemsto have half a brain (sorry the other half must be missing she is dating him for crying out loud)
As for food my three just eat and eat.. drives me mad hearing im hungry all the time.
Miss A is sick though, not sure what but she is curled up next to me on my bed, and has been bomiting all night as she calls it (vomit) hopefully she gets better soon
Jodi- congrats on the girl hun
Nelle- those pancakes sound yummy!!
Maz- wish i were hunny but its melb or gold coast.. maybe next year now i have someone amazing in my life who is willing to help out. Hoping to meet u in melb though!
-
Jodi congrats on another little girl.
J seems to eat less as the day goes on. He NEVER wants dinner. He is no light weight though.
Ness- When are you going to be in Melbourne?
Nelle - Chocolate was not done overboard here, so we don't have a heap. Thank goodness, or I would just eat it all myself. (It is my weakness)
It is sad about Michelle71 - although I don't really know her, I still hope that she is OK/
Not long till J's surgery now. I am starting to get nervous about it.
-
Im in Melb the 23rd to 26th April.
Doing a meet up on the 24th at the docklands, got a massive weekend on, got tickets to the footy everyday!!! Managed to get tickets to the anzac game!!
-
oh sorry Meg, I didn't see that question of yours from a while back and didn't realise you didn't know. Yep, another little princess to add to the collection
What date is J's op?
Nina totally surprised Heath and I the other day. We were stopped at a red light (in the car) and while waiting Nina pointed out to a sign that said 'soccer grounds' and says to us "that letter is the same as my name". We asked her which letter and she drew an N in the air and said "it's an N for Nina" :o We were like "ummm, yeah, that's really good sweetie" We were completely speechless! So it's nice to see my work paying off :D
maz - Nina has her moments with not wanting to eat. Some days it's like she's hardly eaten at all, then other days I can't seem to feed her enough! But tonight for dinner was pork & vegies and she not only ate hers, but Emily's as well (Emily is eating as she's teething).
Oh, and in case you didn't know or have forgotten, I'm coming to the Goldie :nahnah:
-
Havent forgotten Jodi; I dont think any of us could ;) How are you feeling? Any closer to a name for Princess?
-
name is sorted, but no-one knows except for Heath and I ;)
-
-
Ash is testing my patience atm, seriously anything we ask her to do or not to do is refused, she keeps deliberately annoying Emily, doing things like pulling her leg so she can't move, holding onto her, snatching everything.
Emily is just grizzling all the time and wanting to be picked up.
They have been unwell so maybe related? They had virus's that just seemed to keep going and going.
Jodi- ooh can't wait til she is born then, must be hard coming up with girls names, I know we had trouble with Emily's. Its surprising sometimes with how smart they are, some of the things that come out of their mouths surprise me.
ness- Anzac day game should be great. We have big weekend on that weekend with work and then Emilys christening on the sunday so won't get to meet up with you. If you're going to the adelaide game you'll prolly end up dissapointed after how they're going this season.
Nelle- how is River going with the speech therapy?
Freya- will be good for your hubby to have them 4 days, I like when Df gets them on his own for couple days, reminds him how hard we do actually work and remembers to appreciate the job I do!
Maz- Ash's eating is up and down, some days I think she has worms then otehr times nothing. Don't worry i was such a skinny kid, always underweight til I was 25! how is the no dummy going? the last one run its course?
Meg- so when is his op? Always worrying isn't it with these kids. I'm sure all will go well. Must be scary with the sleep aponea.
Laurin- How are you doing? I was thinking of you the other day, Df and I went down to Rye for a couple days so went thru your way. Hope you've been looking after yourself.
-
quick hello all
just wondering which of you girls did the embroided name shirts I got one made for Jack and would love one for Luke but stupidly I can't remember who did them
