Ohhhhhhhh Clare that sounds so nice, I love a house with character. Well done on offering 30 grand less, sometimes it pays to just take a chance. Sometimes people get too emotional & caught up with really wanting the house, so it seems that your relaxed attitude of 'if we get it great, if not such a shame move on' worked. Now I have no idea of where that area is in relation to the actual city in Melb, but seeing as you can have chooks it musnt be an inner city suburb? lol sorry just trying to fully picture your new place.
