dh doesn't believe in roadside assistance (he's such a weirdo sometimes) i think he just doesn't like paying for stuff he can do himself iykwim? so......when i get stuck, i'm really stuck!! luckily i didn't get too far up the road so it wasn't too far to walk......pity i wasn't wearing a bra and still had my nightie on underneath my cardi and a pair of ugg boots!!!
have you been putting your mb in the back of your car? it is such a pita to put back in i reckon. i love it for going for walks, but when i go to shopping centres i still use my stroller and ergo...partly cos j is such a pita though and won't fall asleep in the pram but will in the sling. i think i'll still be wearing j in a sling when he's 5.
not much is going on around here, just hoping for some sunshine on sunday for our party please!!!
G - I havent put the MB in and out of the car yet, more been using it just for walks from here and kindy drop off and pick up... i hear it is annoying to put in and out so hope i can avoid and i think i will go to shops mainly when i just have one of them or use sling and stroller... or N walkind and bugaboo. so many options LOL!
I was sure I posted this morning, must be placenta brain lol. Almost had a car accident this morning, thankfully I had just dropped L off at kindy. All is fine with me and bub stopped at the shops called mum and had some choc milk lol.

G yeah I am fine, was very shaken up. The worst bit was it was a woman driving a child care centre van and I just kept thinking what if I had of hit her and there were kids in the car?? She just pulled out in front of me when she was meant to give way.

i dont know heaps about it, but i did look into it for N - it is more creative and a different way of learning. you can find loads of info on the net.
For us, I would consider it for preschool and maybe v early years but not in the longer term - i think it is great for the early yrs... but i am prob too conservative (and DH DEF is) to do it for all of their education. its a v personal choice though and i have heard loads of great things about it.
Def worth a look and speaking to the principal or someone about it to see if it fits with what you and DH would like for the boys. i think it really suits some kids (my cousins went in the US andit was fab for them)

AFM: all good here. spent yesterday arvo in BENETTON. oh la la! here it is not so exxy as in australia. more a CR price rather than a Guess price ITMS. so have found some lovely cashmere jumpers for leila for next year and a tonne of things for myself we get tourist discount too which is nice. also, benetton does maternity wear! man, they are sooo fashionable here lol!
leila is turning into a proper italian kid, last night we had dinner with at a friends place...first course was served at 9pm!! by 11pm we were almost done and Leila was still the life of the party! she is doing well to cope i reckon. but i think it is helped by the fact that there are kids everywhere and everyone loves babies. today at the cafe she was paraded around by the owner (long time friends of DHs family) and given heaps and heaps of sweet pastries (the man who makes them is quite famous in italy for his sweet cream fillings...mmmmm).
other than that not much else to report, just enjoying the sunshine and shopping!
Oh Oz how scary for you!!!! Did you have to go down to the hospital to get checked out? Your poor thing, I bet the other driver felt terrible when she saw how pregnant you were. & what a worry that she is a childcare driver yet driving irresponsibly. I am glad to hear all is well anyway.
Clare - Ooooooooooh I love Benetton, gorgeous clothes. When M's grandparents went to Italy last yr they brought back heaps of Benetton clothing for her it was great lol. How cool does your friends house, well castle, in Tuscany sound?! What an experience.

As for M's birthday, it was great, perfect weather & the kids had a good time together. Yes she did wear her Oobi party dress and got comments about it left right & center. Such a good buy in the end because she looked lovely. & do you think I can manage to get a nice bday shot of her, standing still & smiling? Impossible!! I had a little cry on the morning when she woke up, I am not liking her growing up so fast.
Montessori starts early (3) and builds concepts from the concrete to the abstract. I remember studying it at uni, where we had to devise some games and test them on children of various ages to see whether they had particular concepts or not. I did 2 - one was sequencing things in the correct order from smallest to largest, and the other was grouping things based on function rather than colour or shape (eg putting a picture of an orange tshirt with other clothes pictures, instead of with pictures of other orange things or other squarish shaped things). One lot of kids i tested went to a montessori school and they all had the concepts 2-3 years earlier than developmentally normal.

Oz - freaky deak! So pleased you're ok, near misses are scary. I had a woman in a car drive straight out in front of me a couple of days ago - she was on the terminating road in a T junction, but i had plenty of time to slow and BEEP loudly. I was furious afterwards because she had a car full of CHILDREN and just motored thru the intersection without even looking if anything was coming.
Ange, meant to share how amazing I think the whole toe-thumb thing is! Sounds like you have some very busy months ahead of you, I"m sure the time will fly.
Arte - so glad W is back to his usual adorable self, it's easy to wonder when they're 2-something whether it's just the dreaded 2s LOL. I was surprised by E's personality transformation after a few days on ABs.

AFM - paid our deposit on an evap aircon today! I'm so excited, the whole house will be cool this summer . Esp pleased after the horror elec bill we had after one month in Jan - but Missy E hates the heat like me so all the more necc so that the whole family sleeps ok all summer. Strayed into a baby shop and bought a cooshee booster seat - the jury is still out on whether it will encourage missy E to sit up nicely at the table or not (we've been having some high chair and table iss-ewes lately) but she was a bit overtired tonight, so we'll see. Will let you know whether you should all stampede out to get one or not.

Well, we're off to the doctors today cos I can't figure out what is wrong with Sarah and I'm really starting to get concerned. Shes been funky for 2 weeks or so with a bit of a cough and has been clingy. But this last week shes gotten worse and is driving me nuts. I thought it might have just been overstimulation coupled with the dust storm but I don't want to risk it. Esp seeing as DH has been diagnosed with pnuemonia (sp? )
Kate: it could be the ears? this is what happened with Leila...she was just funky and irritable. turned out she had an ear infection...she didnt even have a temp

g: As for the Montessori thing. i reckon it is pretty cool. it really depends on the type of kid you have and importantly the type of teachers they have. there was a scandal at the montessori in XXXX. it was found that one of the teachers had no training and was the wife of the principal...but in all honesty this kind of stuff to varying levels can happen anywhere. My dream would of been to send Leila to John Marsdens Candlebark school. it is also a 'free learning' school and just looks amazing. pity it is in mt macedon

Clare, the cooshee is a booster seat that is made out of squishy stuff like a bumbo. It grips to the seat, v. easy to wipe and it's got a bum-ledge that stops them wiggling around too much. Comes in pink, blue and lime green. Guess what colour we picked?
Oz, get that aircon, get it now before the hot weather hits! I'm stoked, it'll be in the roof in about a fortnight. Mostly looking forwards to being able to cool the house overnight and start the day with a cool home not an oven from the day before.
Kate, I'm with Clare, get S's ears checked. We had a hidden recurrence of an ear infection and I could not believe the personality transformation after she was on ABs for a couple of days.

Okay, you very wise woman! I shoulda come to you instead of stressing over it for so long. Guess what, ear infection. I thought the same Clare. S had no temp so didn't even think of that really. She hadn't been pulling on her ear or anything, only real indictator (apart from irritabilty etc) was when she was saying owies but didn't hold her hand or foot up like she would normally do with owies. So started her on amoxycillin today and am hoping for good things. I'm stoked that this will be her first course tho, shes never had abs before. I had ot see the doctor that I had a barney with a while back (the idiot who prescribed me the normal pill after i told him that i wanted to keep breastfeeding, apparently I was just lazy for taking it past 12 months) I had a little speech worked out in my head about how its not a coincidence that this would be her first need for abs. She finished b/f at 21 months and only now is needing abs. Pretty happy with that.
So anyhoo, little miss will hopefully improve and I can get my cheeky terror back instead of my whiny leech
Aircon is so a must!!!! Esp in QLD. We're lucky enough to get some ocean breezes but I would not be able to survive without aircon! Definately best to get in now before the rush otherwise you might be waiting months to get a techy to install it. I worked at an electrical retail place and it was amazing the amount of people who would come in during summer and expect installation that day. Our guys were always booked solid weeks in advance. And stock shortages after a heatwave was a biggy as well.
I've popped some photos up of Sarahs party as well as her antics this morning after finding mummys makeup. I'll pop the jizz in my pants cake up in our fb group as well but anyone feel free to tell me to remove it if it offends. Its not to everyones tastes (pardon the pun).
ETA MD - Where are you getting your cooshee from? I'm having trouble trying to find a local stockist for me TIA

I"m here but have been quite self absorbed lately with all the stuff I need to get done before we head off tomorrow for the wedding. So I wont be back till Monday, but it will be holidays and not sure how I will be for time.
