MP - I had the first CT scan since chemo ended & no signs of recurrence!!! Which is pretty exciting cos there was no other proof that the chemo worked...Dr said officially that's the end of the lymphoma treatment (wahooo!) but of course they will keep an eye on me with regular appts and annual scans. I know: another chapter of Boring Medical Details but a bit of a milestone this year - feel like I"m finally putting things behind me, kwim?
Well the other Boring Medical News is that E's pathology came back showing zippo so she can finally go back into care. Yippee as she is definitely sick and tired of hanging around at home all week (haven't been about to get out the house with her while she's been under suspicion of contagion) although it's been nice spending more time than usual with her and I think she's feeling it too as she has been a lot more wanting mummy (and not daddy haha) than usual.
Looking forward to hearing about lots of happy Melb get togethers in the new year!!
Arte - congratulations on your unofficial but highly likely victory - and I totally appreciate the kick-ass-ness of your excellent report in achieving this outcome! (*highfive*) I had a similar moment, I heard a really distasteful radio promo a couple of weeks ago - involving making light of someone who has just been given one month to live by their dr (). I saw red and all I could think of was the teenage daughter of a local lady who died that week and how she would feel if she heard that on the radio!!!! I sent a scrupulously researched & worded letter to the radio station (yes it contained footnote references LOL), reminding them of their duty under the Code of Conduct to provide a substantive and considered response...well I got a letter back yesterday that blathered on for a page as to how they hadn't broken the code & how the ad would not be considered offensive to their target audience BUT THEN they apologised profusely and pulled the promo of air, permanently. I consider that a WIN. And yay for A sleeping...!!
Ginger, looking forward to hearing all about your trip!
Noni, how are you going sweetie - hope you're starting to feel a little more motivated - maybe start with something small and achievable - they say cleaning out under the bathroom cupboard's a good one as you always get to throw a lot of stuff out and it's always very satisfying - might give u some oomph to tackle somethign bigger.
Well I'm completely forgotten everything else...spent FOUR HOURS at my pre-surg appt today - OMG my file is that thick it's embarrassing. Although the anaesthetist chick hastened to remind me that I'm actually pretty darn healthy and expected to do well in surgery - so that was reassuring after feeling like a broken down old woman for most of the year. I was pretty chilled out this morning which is a nice change, I remember I was beside myself the morning I was there for the lumpectomy . That was the beginning of a whole big scary journey, I guess this is more like the end and besides I know how good the staff there are now. Plus I'm like a jaded hospital veteran now
