Yep! she is just perfect (unbiased mummy opinion of course lol). suprisingly i have an anterior placenta...they told me that i might not feel too many kicks yet i almost fell off the bed considering that i have been a battering ram from 12 weeks LOL!

Very big woohoo for pinky pink Cass! Am thrilled for you. Maybe you're having a donkey child like mine LOL. xxx

Noni I'm sorry to hear you've had such a difficult time. I hope the medication really helps so you can get back into a place of balance, are you having any regular contact with good support ppl like your GP or a counsellor? Sorry I'm not very good with the whole introducing solids thing, mine always just opened their mouth and ate them (even if DD was very sloooooow LOL) and Missy E has been a complete piggy-wig from day 1.

Trill, have been thinking about you...how's everything going? Are the kids back at school or are you still juggling school hols in amongst everything else?

Yay Clare!! Another beautiful girl! I am so excited for you. Any names picked yet? I can't get over some of my girl names that I didn't use.

Noni, A is about the same as your William with food. I haven't tried spoon feeding but she tends just to suck on things and not really eat any of it. She started off gagging until she puked, but now she is just gagging if a big bit goes in her mouth. Is W actually losing weight, or is he just not putting it on as fast? Because at some point chubby bubs thin out a bit, especially now that he is more active. If he is just not gaining it as fast it could be genetics coming out. Also, I would suggest dumping a couple of solids feeds and just giving him one until he seems more interested. It is too long to spend for minimal results and a couple of teaspoons forced into him isn't going to make much difference weight wise but it makes an impact on your day. I give A crackers or bits of fruit during the day if she looks interested when W is eating, but she only has dinner as a proper meal.
Try not to worry about it, he will get there eventually.

Trill, how is your mum's partner going? Are they going to get married?

Jazah, I looove to blame crappy behaviour on teeth, or else I would just have to admit my kid is feral lol

Suz, yip, getting up a hour earlier now so 6.30-7am which isn't too bad. Any more luck with day naps? I would like to have them back, but if he even blinks for too long during the day we can't get him to bed before 10pm.

I can feel the first of the winter colds coming on...

*Cass* - Congrats on the PINK and so glad to hear she's perfect A friend of mine with 2 girls told me she was really happy when she found out I had another boy because she really loves having 2 kids the same gender and there are so many positives. Hope it brings you all the same joys I had anterior placentas both times and DS2 still managed to punch and kick the whole pregnancy from 11 weeks.

*Noni* - Hi, nice to meet you! You sound like you've had a hard time but are on the mend now, I hope things keep improving for you. Sorry I'm no help with solids, DS1 ate everything with no dramas and we haven't started DS2 yet. Even though DS1 had a healthy appetite, the month he started solids he only gained 15 grams.

*Arte* - Hope you're not getting a cold and if you are that you feel better soon. I've just got over mine and manged not to give it to the boys. I'm still getting DS1 down for day sleeps but today he protested when he didn't the other days.

*JaZaH* - I'd love to blame it on teeth but DH has all his 2 year old molars Photoshopping photos to hide the evidence sounds like something I'd do, hope you can laugh about it now. Breaks my heart that my boy would hurt another kid. Good point about the chocolate, not counting Easter DS1 was getting several chocolates each day as rewards/bribes for toilet training, but I stopped after Easter because I thought it was making him constipated. Didn't think it could be contributing to his behaviour.

AFM - DH came home late tonight, so he missed DS1's 7pm bedtime. He went in and woke him up, but no tears everything was fine. Then a little later DS was out of his room, so I went to put him back to bed and there were tears and a big carry on when I went to leave. So maybe it's a bit of separation anxiety again? I think I might get DH to do bedtime duty tomorrow night and see if we have an improvement. I've also tried to clean up DS1's diet a bit to see if that will help.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

    hi girls!

Suz: i'm afraid that i dont have much advice re the tantrums...my little poppet is quite fiery and we are also just trying to minimise damage wherever we go...so i need all the hints i can get too lol!
i reckon getting DH to do some the bedtime (or even just resettling if that works better re work times) would be a good idea. we do that here with some positive outcomes.

Ginger: Yip. we have a name but are keeping 'mum' on it figure somethings gotta be a surprise LOL!

Noni: i am sorry that you had to go through a yucky place for a while there. am glad that the meds have kicked in enough to get you back on track. i agree with MD...do you have any wider support networks ATM? to get you through the immediate yuckiness? even just a good close friend to hang out and have ridiculous amounts of tea with? (always my modus operandi when i hit the pits lol).

Arte: me too. have a *slightly* itchy throat. so downed some powdered vit c...probably futile by now, but gotta give it a go (and gotta live in hope!).

AFM: all good here. had to have the heating on the other night...first bouts of wintery weather!! worked a treat! finally a house with heating YAY! today we are off to mothers group, am sooo hoping that this improves Leila's mood. she has been a right terror lately. and having very disturbed sleep with lots of yucky dreams. i am thinking there is a growth spurt as she is eating the unbelievable too. poor wee poppet. i guess waking up every hour and a half is good preparation for september though lol.

Cass, it always happened with me too when I was pg - you could guarantee that your previously awesome sleeper would start night waking again LOL. And I defnitely think it is Mother natures way of getting us ready.

Noni, I'm glad you've gotten some help now and that you're feeling better.

Suz, I hope the change in diet helps a little. Sometimes it is the most surprising things that can set them off. My nephew can't eat too much fruit otherwise he is uncontrollable. Fingers crossed for bedtime tonight too

Arte, is A still sleeping well at night though? I hope she is. So bedtime for W is getting better then if he doesn't sleep during the day?

MD, H is back at school then? We don't go back till next Tuesday, so another week of holidays. Which is great because I think we have been busier than we are when school is on!

Things are OK here. Kids haven't been making me wish they WERE back at school yet so that's a good sign LOL. We took them to an airshow at Temora on Saturday and it was great. A thought it was awesome - he was so excited to see all the planes close up (they taxi to the runway literally only 100mts from you, so it's very *real* kwim?). But what made my day though was a woman who was sitting next to us came to me and told me that "You have the most well behaved children that I have ever seen and you should be proud of them. I'd really like to buy them a treat, is it OK if I buy them an icecream?" So what else could I say but "Thank you so much, that would be lovely" I was nearly about to burst into tears with pride LOL. So she got them a chocolate paddle pop each and they all thanked her and thought it was wonderful getting an icecream because we'd actually told them earlier that no, they couldn't have one ROFL.

Uni is going really well - I got a distinction for my last assignment and I am super stoked. Work wise I am staying on top of things well despite the holidays. I wait till they go outside and then I can get at least an hour of solid work done.

J is going OK, he and mum can't get married now because he is in no state to do it legally kwim? I wish his kids would stop hassling him about changing his name though, but I think Mum was able to get through to his DD and she was going to talk to her brother about backing off. Anyway it is at the stage where you just have to take each day as it comes I spent all day Sunday cooking meals for her and my brother to have in the freezer because she doesn't have the time or the inclination to cook after being at the hospital nearly all day. So I took those over yesterday for her.

A is just amazing atm. He is a real little boy now He is talking really well and OMG he has a wicked sense of humour. He is hilarious and makes us laugh so much. TT is still on hold because he really isn't ready still but that's OK. We just stand at the loo before bath time and it gets him practicing etc.

Oh and there is no more speech therapy for P!!!!!! After 18months her speechie said yesterday at our appointment that she feels Paige's issues have resolved and that her speech is at the same level of any other child that age. So it was a bit of a teary moment because her speechie is lovely and you really get to know each other over the time you see them, so it was a bit sad to know that we wouldn't be seeing her anymore but at the same time great because P has overcome the speech issues, so it was very bittersweet. After we left we went and brought her a big bunch of flowers and a small gift and took them back and left them at the office. I asked the desk woman to pass them on because I think I would have cried if we gave them to her.

Trill, sorry to hear there won't be a wedding. It must be hard. How is your brother? OMG how awesome about the lady commenting on your kids! That is so cool! And yay for no more speech therapy.

W doesn't really have a sense of humor. He is very literal.

Clare, we have had the fire on a few times now and there were a few days of frost last week. Hopefully it won't be as cold and miserable as last year.

On that note, any ideas for inside play? W won't do anything art/craft/music, playdough takes longer to make than he will play with it (but I still make it anyway). I feel a very long cooped up winter on the way and I am struggling for ideas already.

Arte, go to the shops and BUY some playdough, if you mix in a drop or two of water (boiled) before you put it away they last endlessly and there's variety...if you buy some of the playdough kits they have cool stuff like presses that make the playdough squeeze out in different shapes etc. Endless entertainment. Also, how are your duplo/lego supplies going? Do you have a room you can set aside as a play space? You could set up a home corner, make/buy a little stove & pots n pans, plastic plates & cups etc, put some empty food packets etc on the shelves (for shopping and cooking) and of course a dolly bed, pram & blanket for endless role playing. I know it's not very "boy" but we have had such endless entertainment out of Missy E's kitchen & food things - it's a shop, they cook, she makes me zillions of cups of tea, she has picnics on the rug with the dollies, she has picnics under the rug (tent) etc - I tell ya the fun never stops, my friends youngest son was the same with his home corner. Also have you got one of those play rugs (with roads etc drawn on)? You could improvise by painting or textaing one yourself. What about a chalk board?

Suz I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is some sep anxiety going on, our Missy E recently started insisting on the bedroom door being left open for that very reason.

Trill well done on your distinction!! Of course no one here is surprised at all. I find holidays very counterproductive when I'm studying, try to schedule my work around them. Yay for P's speech therapy graduation, such a good feeling to know she's overcome!

Cass, didn't you have any heating at the old place? Brrrrr. I made DH fire up the heater last night, sometimes the pilot light is tricky to start. I might admit if under duress that I might possibly maybe have had the heater on for half an hour this morning when we got out of bed. :sssh:

Ginger how was your time away? I was dreaming of a holiday away over the school hols - just even a day or two, but we are having such a good time at home right now it's not necessary. We've had so many things we put off doing last year we're really just enjoying having a normal life, kwim?

AFM - Life is good. I have been setting DD1 to work doing various things around the house - so far she's helped me tidy the spare room, shop for groceries (I'm teaching her my fruit & veg selection secrets), cook a couple of dinners, do some baking, tidy out a kitchen cupboard. She's surprisingly engaged, I guess it's a bit of novelty for her for us to be doing actual activities together, she's a lot more receptive to listening to instructions than she has been in the past - HALLELUYAH I thought this day would never come LOL.

    hi girls!

Sherie: we had a similar thing happen in our family in holland where my mum's uncle was considered too ill to change some documents. the family (and he) was pretty devastated. hope that your mum and him are holding up ok considering.
great news for P! how did she feel about it? has it sunk in for her yet?
WTG on the distinction! that is pretty impressive considering everyting that is going on with your family ATM....champion effort!

MD: gosh, H is a champ! i was never engaged LOL! i absolutely despised shopping...gosh i was a horror.
we had *some* heating at the old place. we had a vulcan wall heater for the lounge-room. but the place was not insulated so it never actually heated or retained warmth. it was horrendous. here we have 3 fireplaces, ducted heating in the roof and a big wall heater thingy that basically heats all the living areas. one happy duck LOL! (oh and dont worry, my stoicism is only as strong as my stubborness to ignore the inevitable destitution of winter...i'll be cranking the heating all day soon lol).

Arte: bummer that W wont do any painting. leila kinda loves stamping paint with various objects ATM (potatoes, sponges etc). i reckon a home corner is a great idea. keeps leila going for quite awhile each day. maybe an indoor cubby?? (i like the 'tent' idea...and remember digging it as a kid...).

Isadora: where are ya babe?! miss you...

AFM: have a cracking migraine. well, actually it is now fading but i am sore and groggy. not happy jan.

    hi all
sherie - congrats on the assignment mark! though i must reserve my best congrats for the positive feedback on your kids, that is just the most awesome thing to read - i hope one day a stranger compliments me like that on my parenting (as the most important thing i do). i am so delighted for you and have been smiling al arvo after reading that story.
clare - woo hoo on pink news... i am a fan of 2 same gender, i think its pretty spec. did you keep clothes from L or is it a whole new retail experience too??!!!
Noni - sounds like a tough time and we have missed you. I read your solids thread - i wouldnt worry too much to be honest. J is nopt into solids like N was though we are having quite a bit of sucess now withg finger foods only... he hates the spoon/purees. maybe it is bc he watches N all the time but he just wants real food and to do it himself. now takes down salmon steak (his fave), veg, meat balls, toast, pizza, fruit, cheese basically normal food... its easier for me too!
Arte - home corner works well here too, as does (bought) play doh. N also loves real cooking so i involve him in that (he is more keen to eat that stuff too i find). He hasd a [play tent and loves when we put that up. we also make cubbies from chairs and \blankets. is majorly into puzzles atm... umm what else... dress up box? colouring in? tower building (blocks and tupperware)... get some old boxes and pain them and make them into a 'world' - like houses, office blocks etc... N loves the play mats and he can do his trains/cars/planes on them... he is also getting into playging hide and seek etc???
G - hope you had fun in echuca...

Clare huge congrats on another healthy baby girl.

G I am so jealous of your holiday. Have been listening to so much Sarah Blasko lately. Still need to get the last album though.

MD sounds like things are going great with DD1!!

Trillian congrats on the assignment. Sorry to hear that there cant be a wedding for your mum though. You seem to be coping well with so much on your plate. Compliments from strangers really make your day don't they!

Arte we do lots of baking, playdough, puzzels and cars on made up tracks (we use odd things round the house to make a track. We also make cubbies out of blankets. I like the home corner and dress up ideas.

Suz welcome. I hope bedtime went smoothly tonight.

Noni I am sorry to hear things weren't good but am glad its all on the improve. I wouldn't worry to much about the solids, he will eat when he is ready.

A big huge hello to everyone else and I am sorry I have been slack again. All is good here, DD is 6 months today- I cant believe how quickly its going. L is great he is such a little character. He is starting to use his imagination a lot now and sometimes he isn't L he is the postman or the cook etc lol. He is talking so much now too. He still isn't very good at counting but knows most of his colours and shapes. I have launched my business (as you may have seen on FB), very scary yet exciting. Best be off the kettle and Easter eggs are calling.

    hello girls
i'm finding it so hard to post atm. i jump on and have a read but the boys just won't let me type anything. they are all over me and all over the computer and just won't leave me alone atm. is anyone else finding their toddler going through a bit of a seperation anxiety phase? L is driving me quite mad atm. hates being away from me at all.

echuca was lovely, thanks for asking. had a great time on the river. L was in the boat all day most days, he absolutely loves it. he fell asleep on the boat one arvo and i carried him in and dropped him into bed thinking he would just have a short nap- i left his lifejacket and sunglasses on so as not to wake him. well i ended up having to go in there at 10pm and taking off his lifejacket, sunnies, jeans and changed his nappy- all while he still slept! he was so exhausted that he slept ight through until 6am. dh went in and took some photos of him crashed out with all his gear still on. so funny!
i certainly remembered why it is that we don't drink alcohol much anymore- i just can't do it these days! a few too many and i'm still feeling it days later. won't br doing that again LOL all in all it was a great holiday though. we would really love to buy a caravan up there on the river and go up there for wknds. we'll just have to see if we can afford it in the next few years

clare- once again, congrats on ahving a girl. i absolutely love having two of the same sex and i'm sure you will too. i'm excited to hear what your name is in your BA. i think 'Grace' would be lovely with your surname and go well with Leila

trill- congrats on the lovely comment on your kids. i think you do an awesome job too. sounds like you're doing so well at uni and really enjoying it. i bet you can't wait to get into the classroom.

oz- happy 6 months to gorgeous Z. wow that has gone fast. i bet your business will go great you are so talented.

md- glad you're loving the 'normal life'. i'm a bit like that too. we love nothing more than hanging around the house, lighting our coonarra and relaxing over winter.

noni- hello, i wondered where you had got to. figured you were just super busy with the 2 kiddies. hope things start to improve for you soon. big hugs..

suz- hi and welcome. i don't really know how to help, but i can say that L ds1 is going through his most challenging phase so far atm. i am finding him really hard work most days. i don't know what it is, he just seems so defiant and really pushing me. good luck with everything.

arte- does W like doing cooking? sometimes we'll just bake some muffins or cupcakes purely for entertainment's sake LOL building blocks are always good too.

hi to everyone else, i'm missing Junglemum a lot. it was so cool being able to catch up with her IRL.

    hi girls!

mamaP: unfortunately i got rid of alot of the newborn clothes with Leila. so will have to buy all of that again. but luckily i got more saavy from about the 6 months + and have them all packed away...

G: wow! the holiday sounds fantastic and what sleeping marathon from L lol!
i was wondering how it would be for you to lose JM to PNG. i knew you guys were close and the kidlets were besties. maybe you should take a trip up there lol?!

Oz: he he, Leila is also not so great on the counting front. she tends to start of in english then switch to italian when she gets to the numbers that she likes to say lol. ah well, it'll all come good in time

AFM: all going well today! migraine has kinda gone, just left with tiredness and a bit of dizziness. BUT my mega BIG news is that my BRACES ARE OFF!!!!
