I was going to be in chat last night but I only lasted until 11pm (9pm NSW). But it turned out to be the best New Years ever! I got a full whole 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep! That has happened maybe 2 or 3 times in the last 3 years!

I think W has overdone it on the bike - riding for 2-3 hours every day since Christmas so today he has had an enforced break. Actually he got it confiscated by his very loud and irritating behavior lol. I think he needs a bit of recovery time because his behavior has gone way downhill over the last week. Not sure if it is because he is so tired from all the bike riding, because DH is home all day or because of the dog but I am hoping he gets over it soon.
BTW, how messy are kids!!?? I knew that Chimmy cleaned up after them quite a lot, but I had no idea how much! I am forever picking up bits of food from everywhere now
WTG Arte haha! trust that the night you go to bed late-ish the kids sleep well lol! what was W doing with his bike?? was he riding it inside or just being crazy on it?
JM: blurgh! i can't believe you are still having to deal with chronic spewing matches like that...you poor wee poppet xx it's a good thing these babies are so cute when they are born huh?! are you coming back here to have baby?

AFM: well, my friend up the road has given us a bit of heath ledger we mentioned that we wanted to line the inside of Leila's cubby and he is in the film industry and came down with some old props (a working fridge etc etc) and also brought some flat boards for us to nail onto the walls for lining...i noticed some fake blood splatters and he casually mentioned that it was used in a scene where dear old (sexy lol) heath had to lie on itl! ahhh my own piece of hollywood hahaha. got his footprints and all!! but hopefully not his ghost
Cass, that is cool about the Heath memorabilia! I forgot to say - the FB pics of your cubby are very very cool! W wasn't being silly on his bike, just the rest of the time ie yelling inside, telling me "NO", general little things to p!ss me off lol. He actually seems a lot better today after a bike free day and a full nights sleep.
Well, it had to happen eventually - tonight is W's first ever night away from me! DH has taken him rabbit shooting and camping tonight. From the text I just got they are having lots of fun.
MD, I was just watching the news and (this is probably old news to a buff like you but...) Oprah is starting her own TV network with Dr Phil, Dr Oz etc and she will be fronting a show 2-3 times per week so maybe you haven't missed your chance for a live audience with her.

Another lovely day here. Just made a yummo zucchini slice. Lu down building sand castles in the nude and S sleeping.
We have had a bit of a swimming breakthrough. Lu can now swim a few meters by herself from the wall to me and back. She was so pleased with herself. I must admit I was too, I can't wait for them both to swim well.
3 weeks till Melbourne again. I'm on the count down. It gets a bit lonely here, I don't have many 'friends' about. *cue violins*

sounds like you all had a fab xmas... and nye too. all great here, in nz and having the BEST holiday! quite relaxing (cnsidering 2 boys and jakey still not sleeping well etc) and just lots of great family time. boys are LOVING it!! we are on waiheke island now which also means we are getting a bit of 'adult' time as we can got ot he amazing vineyards at night. home on friday and back to reality. resolved to have more holidays this yr and even long weekends - we were all so run down it wasnt nivce the last 2 months...
JM, Ging, Cass - would love to do a meet up when JM is here, if we can do a mon or a weekend i can make it work... PLEASE! or an evening sans kids sp we can actually talk and no one gets spewed on??!!!

JM, awesome about L swimming! That is really cool. W still won't put his head under and is happier in the knee high paddling pools or grips on for dear life if we have him in a deeper pool. He has never been water confident. A on the other hand is a total water babe, hopefully we can get some swim lessons started up for her when kindy goes back.
MP, glad you are having a good time in NZ. We sure turned on the good weather for you! It has been sooo hot! I probably shouldn't compain compared to Aust temps in the 40's but today must have got to 30 degrees at least and the kids got sunburnt even with spf40 sunscreen on! It is just so intense here, courtesy of the altitude and that handy ozone hole.
I was fine with W being away, I love him but geez he is a high maintenance kid! I can't believe that I ever thought I was busy with one kid lol. I think we might have wandered into 'threenager' territory - the NO! and lying and general disobedience! Far out! I am still holding out hope it is just a holiday high and maybe it will go away when we get back to routine in a few weeks (insert a little praying symbol here)
Arte, A is the same with water - loves the toddler pool but he is like the flipping gingerbread man when you take him into the big pool and just keeps climbing higher but when we did swimming lessons last summer by the end of them he was fine in the big pool - its just that all the hard work gets undone over winter so you have to start again LOL.
JM, I get what you mean. even for all the technology you have to keep in touch, it would still be pretty isolating to live there at times. And YAY on the new house Meri too! I hope you don't have a repeat of last time.
MP, great to see you pop in! The holiday sounds great. I'd love to go away on more trips too, but we just never have the time anymore.
arte: how was the night sans W? I sheepishly admit that I do enjoy the one one time with the girls. Such a good chance to just enjoy and not be too spread out attention wise iykwim.
MP: oh man your holiday sounds amazing! Mmm I could go some red right now...
JM: I do remember the loneliness at times when living in Fiji. Although Internet was so incredibly slow that it would literally take 30 mins to open hotmail. So I became snail mail extraordinare lol!
I too am envious of Ls swimming aim so nervous with Leila around water. It is def my "thing". Need to get her in lessons so that I can learn to calm down lol.
AFM: we are good overall. Leila is a bit challenging ATM; for some reason she has been really testing her boundaries in relation to her friends. Like today she hit her good friend and made him cry and then lied about it, THEN laughed about it
I also look forward to going back to normal after xmas. Although DHs dad is coming in 4 weeks time...just been informed.

sans kids is a bit hard for me ATM with Marta...she is a boob monster. but am happy to take her with me if we do a dinner...
