I find that when i get chunky around my mid section it's has a lot to do with fluid retention. Try to drink stacks of water - no coffee, tea, soft drinks and limit juices too. Also stay away from salty foods. Try to drink about 8-10 lge glasses a day. My DH also is prone to carrying weight in that area and ever since i cut most carbs out of our dinners eg pasta, only little amount of potatoes, no breads and sml amounts of rices and couscous he has trimmed down heaps within a matter of a weeks. We also try to eat dinner around 6.30pm no later. Good luck
