It occured to me that, before i even think about DTD, that i should just 'feel' to make sure that things seemed normal.
Well, they dont.
I can feel a knot, so, i imagine a stitch yet to come out (but 4weeks seems to be a long time), the 'hole' feels abit longer then i remember.
But, inside the 'hole' i can feel what feels like my cervix? Maybe. Dont know, sorta like a big fat nose sitting right there.
Is this all normal?
I think i should go see my obs earlier then the 6 weeks.
Deb it's still early days. You're still healing! Try not to stress too much about what's going on up there.
Your cervix does feel like a nose so I'm sure that's what you are feeling. I wasn't game for anything to go in there for months (poor DH he was very patient with me) so I really can't comment on how it felt in that respect.
My stitches were dissolvable and weren't gone completely till 4-5 weeks. I remember it was just in time for 6 week checkup because I was going to ask about it. The scar tissue may leave a little lump there too for a while but it does go away.
HOw far inside is the "nose"? At the end of your finger, the end of 2 knuckles deep, the end of one knuckle deep or actually AT the entrance? Is the "nose" smoother than the walls with a hole in it you can get a fingertip into? Or is it ridged like all the other walls? The former would possibly be your cervix, the latter is the front wall of your vagina which may well be less firm than before still, allowing your bladder to press back a bit more than it should - if this bulge blocks the entrance it's a bladder prolapse but i doubt they'd diagnose that so soon after birth - keep doing the kegels and this will cure itself. It's normal for everything to sag a bit for a few weeks after a vaginal birth. If you feel well in yourself (no pain or "dragging" feeling when you poop, pee or move about) i'd not be too worried about it yet.
I'd have a look with a mirror. The hole being longer is normal, it'll tighten up some over the next few weeks and more so with your pelvic floor exercises but mine remains longer than before (the memory of "before" fades with time ). I didn't have stitches but my friend had dissolveables and 7 of the 10 knots had to be removed as they didn't come out on their own. It took 2 seconds and didn't hurt.
Post-bubs vaginas vary as much as pre-bubs vaginas so it's hard to say what's "normal". If you're worried then do see your doc about it.
I want to let you know also that my vagina looks different, the walls are less "folded", there seems to be a lot more flesh, the hole is bigger and i had to do kegels to get some tone back BUT my god, the orgasms i have now are INCREDIBLE.
LOL.. after i had Chelsea.....for about 5 weeks afterwards i kept telling DH i had a third hole....but really everything was fine and perfect, just the way it was before her birth! Dont stress at all... as Sammi said.. ur still healing!
Thanks for your quick responses.
Sammi - my DH has informed me that he can 'help' push things back up... yeah right
Hoobley - its acutally at the entrance, which is what concerned me i guess. i suppose i dont know what i expected to feel, but, it wasnt for it to be right there. I didnt feel a hole to indicate it was the cervix, but, to be honest, i sorta freaked out when i felt it.
I feel mostly normal, peeing and pooping without a drama. I do have days when i feel like i have to go pee every 5min, and nothign much ever comes out, and its on those days that i feel like i have something in there, sorta like a incorrectly placed med. So, on the other hand, maybe its a bladder problem?
It *could* be a cystocele, a slight bladder prolapse, but only a doctor can diagnose. I'm going to PM you a link to a pic so you can get the mirror out and have a look, the peeing and nothing coming out might be something, but it might be nothing.
You can do Mayan womb massage to help. Lie on your back, with and empty bladder and bowel. Oil your tummy (rose oil is nice and good for your skin too), cup your hands and using the whole of the sides (so, wrist - littlest fingernail) draw straight lines from your pubic bone up to level with your belly button, in a fan shape from the pubic bone up, so pubic bone to right hipbone, pubic bone to mid-belly between hip and belly button, pubic bone to belly button, pubic bone to mid-belly between belly button and left hip, pubic bone to left hip. Back and forth go, pressing firmly but not hurting yourself. If your bowel is full or gassy this can be painful so watch out for that. This massage can help "lift" your insides if you do it everyday, but you really need to do the kegels to strengthen up the insides so they can support it all.
Well i do think it's probably 6 weeks post partum before they expect it all to have gone back into a more normal position, so unless you WANT to see the doc sooner i'd probably hang out for that. Also, are you on the loo when you "check"? If you try lying down you might find it's already in a more normal position but the pressure sat on the loo lets it all shift down again. I don't know about everyone else but i was used to checking CP for fertility and until DD was about 9 months old my "high soft" was alot lower and my "low hard" was, as you say, practically out the door. I was BFing, but AF came back 6 weeks PP i'm just "lucky" like that...
Keep squeeze squeeze squeezing those pelvic floor muscles and don't worry about it until a doctor has TOLD you to worry about it
