    Talking My pelvic floor theory!

I had the idea a while ago that my pelvic floor issues ie not being able to hold on when I needed to go, was being contributed to by me going to the loo JIC.
The thought came to me when we were leaving to go out and I went to the loo for JIC when I didn't really need to. That got me thinking in the car that maybe by doing that I am making it worse.

So I have been purposefully holding on for a bit longer and I'm happy to report that I think my ability to hold onto the tinkle is better after just a few short weeks I won't go to the loo JIC when I'm going out and I also don't go to the loo before I go to bed if I don't feel I have to. I really think it's helping

I must admit to it not being that bad that I leak when I sneeze but I have leaked when jumping on the tramp

I find this works for me too, Raven... My sister got told to by her doctor that she was doing more harm than good by giving in to the need to get up and go to the loo in the night and that she should try to stop... God help her she hasnt even had kids yet

My physio after DD#1's birth said that we facilitate bad pelvic floor by going JIC!
Its hard not to teach your kids to do that though...hmmm

i want a pelvic floor transplant....

3 weeks on from my birth and i am still pee-ing myself.... the most depressing and dehabilitating thing i have been through with no end in sight.... i am told in a few weeks it will get better but honestly, in the 3 weeks so far it is still no better, i am sceptical that it will resolve itself... never in a million years did i foresee this type of problem this severe after my VBAC...

i want a pelvic floor transplant, and possibly a bladder transplant too.... well maybe not a transplant as that is kind of gross to get my head around, but maybe an artificial pelvic floor and bladder!!

    Emma!

3 weeks is still early days. I felt nothing down there for about 5-6 weeks when I tried to do a pelvic squeeze so keep trying. My physoi said the most effective ones for bladder control are quick short ones so I worked on that and I think it was 3 months by the time I could actually squeeze and hold for 10 seconds!

Limey it's a habit drummed into me from my mother I think lol

Be careful though because holding on too long can cause problems too!

I think you are on the money Raven. I was brought up to go JIC and now I am a chronic pee-er and I am having pelvic floors issues. Recently, I have been researching continence in children out of concern for my 4yo inability to be dry at night and I have read that it is not good to teach your kids to go JIC, because they have to learn to control their bladder.

With DD1 I used to make her go JIC all the time but now we are tt DD2 and I am just letting her go and then trotting her off to the loo in the hope that she'll get the connection.

Rouge - I agree with you on holding too long too. I think this can cause bladder infections.

Emma - Hugs hun. I couldn't even do a pelvic floor exercise until 6 weeks post bub. Try and find a physio that specialises in pelvic floor. I am going to one soon. She has a machine that is inserted and she can test where you have weakness and then prescribe exercises or other treatment. I suspect that I have a prolapse so I need to have this fixed.
