    Pelvic Floor Exercises

Pelvic Floor Exercises are promoted in pre-natal and ante-natal classes to help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles (which help support important organs like your bladder and bowel) for birth and after baby.

Did you or do you do Pelvic Floor Exercises? Did you do them before baby and/or after baby? How often do you do them and do you think it helped you with delivery and recovery after your baby?

I did them whilst I was PG but having had a caesar my pelvic floor muscles weren't really hindered in anyway by the birth process. Apparently they just get strained however from all the weight etc anyway, so I still do them occasionally now.

My mother used to go on and on and on about pelvic floor excercises from when I was a teenager, and I have to admit I have been doing them since I was about 14. Bot sure if it helped with the birth process or not, but I did manage a natural birth without drugs.

I have been religious about doing them since her birth (paranoid that I don't want any leaky bladder problems!) so hopefully it is working.

I do them when I am at a red light and also when I am waiting for my internet connection to dial up and connect!

I only do them when I remember to, which is only occasionally, although in the last week I have made an effort to do some every day because after two pregnancies in two years things could definitely do with tightening up!

    8-[ 8-[ Yeah... I'm a slacker too...
I used to do them a few times a week when I was PG, usually just at my Pregnastics classes though.
And after birth I have done them very rarely... I am doing them now though, LOL!

My sister's Doc said that horse riding is brilliant for strengthening pelvic floor muscles! Now if only I had a horse and some spare time.....
I was always slack at doing them too

I do mine daily. Prior to having K, I purchased an Epi-no which also doubles as a pelvic floor muscle exerciser.

Haven't used it much since the birth though. :-$

I was talking to a GF of mine about this pelvic floor business today. She was confessing to never having done any ever, & she has 3 children. She also admitted that every time she sneezes, she always has a little leak from her baldder, which horrifies her, understandably. Poor chook.

I think that if anyone needs some motivation to do these pelvic floor excercises, the threat of incontinence should inspire us all to do our pelvic floor excersises! The good thing is that is is never too late to fix these muscles....

Now that the main Belly Belly site is up, check out THIS ARTICLE which has a segment about pelvic floor excersises, how to do them, and how to test your pelvic floor strenghth.

I didn't do any PF excercises after the first two, but after I had my third I found the problem of leaking when skipping etc, since then I try and to them daily. I now do them even when sitting at the PC

I'm trying to make this a regular habit now. I'm usually really good for a month or so and then slack off. Reading this is a great reminder of why I should be doing them.
