My GP tells me there is less risk of falling pregnant with a monophasic pill as there is no artificial hormonal fluctuation in that you are not changing dosages through the cycle as you do with a triphasic pill. Are you good with remembering to take it every day? Unless you miss a couple of days or something, you should be pretty right but it is of course up to you whether you decide to use other protection.
It's interesting really that the triphasic pills even exist. They are supposed to "mimic" your natural cycle but your natural cycle is irrelevant as you are not ovulating anyway!
I'm on the triphasic at the moment but have been on the monophasic as well in the past. I have noticed no difference with my cycle on either one ... both give me a very light period with minimal problems. I don't ever skip the red pills though otherwise I will eventually get the chopped liver period from hell.
