Ok, how about discussing all the things you might have to put up with after the birth. No, I don't mean feeding problems, nappies or washing, I mean things with your own body.
With my first two babies I had a little tear each time. Both painless & didn't need stitching, & have caused me no problems.
Also with first two babies, a little graze each time. Some people call them skid marks. It's not really a tear, just like you've skinned your knee or something. Well these sting! You can't pee. The thing to do with these is to take a jug of warm water with you to the loo & pour it over yourself as you pee so it doesn't sting. For your very first pee if it's really bad, you may need to actually submerge yourself in water, ie in a bathtub or a large bowl of water.
The bashed up bruised fanny feeling. Feels like the whole area is throbbing if you stand up too long. Your body telling you to rest!
Haemorrhoids! What fun. I got off so lightly this time, no graze, no tear, I had to have something to put up with. The most uncomfortable horrible thing, urrrgh!
Stretch marks that appear after the birth. Now that's just not fair is it.
Could go on for ages, but you get the idea. Got to go shower my boy now. What has everyone else experience & how did you deal with it? How long did it last etc?
Kellie - I hated sleeping on my back too! I didn't get much sleep the first night because it was so uncomfortable!
I had a c/s too (obviously) and, I am not too sure if it's because of the c/s or it's just an "after-baby" problem, but my poos are always rock hard! No matter how much water I drink, no matter how much fibre I have, I feel like I am poopin' pebbles (and sharp ones at that). It's sllllowly getting better but it was pretty horrible the first few weeks.
Hair loss!! My hair is falling out like a am fricken' malting! I hate it. My hair is all over the bathroom and Gabby always manages to get a good handfull every now and then.
Oh wow, how did I miss this, lol. There's even a thread just about a haemorrhoid, will have to check that one out.
Ok, I'm adding a new symptom now, vagueness as a result of sleep deprivation.
And I thought of another one. There's something about muscle separation. Apparently it's normal for there to be a 2 finger gap between your abdominal muscles after birth & it takes a while to go back to normal, but sometimes you need a special stretchy thing to wear to help get it all back together.
Oh, and anaemia. 600ml estimated blood loss is usual for me & makes me go all pale & wobbly & needing some iron.
After pains too, although there's a separate thread for this. I'm still having them sometimes now when feeding, but they're tolerable. Straight after the birth & for the first day or two serious pain relief needed for them.
IKWYM about the "bashed up bruised fanny" feeling even though I had a c/s. I was in hospital in labour for 25hrs before the c/s and I had soooo many internals that I was all swollen & icky. The midwife that checked on me a few hours after the birth said it looked as though I had had a natural birth as well as the c/s
Yep let me say my fanny has just been in aknock out round with Mike Tyson!!! [-(
It is so tender, stings when sitting in certains palces, so I tend to lean back on my butt abit more, but then my butt aches!
I can pee fine, but the whole poppin' thingy! hmmm, just aint doing real well, I am bruised in my butt for certain it's really tender & it almost feels like at the very exit point of my butt I have lost the pushing sensation.... It's weird... The poo I have done is soft as I am drinking gallons of water, but when it is that close the exiting & yet I cannot push properly, it feels all scary almost like it's just gonna hang there forever!!!!
Ok, that was all probably TMI... But I figured if anyone would understand it'd be some ladies in here!
As I was cut (quite significantly apparently!) I have a heap of stitches... I tried to look, but was grossed out by it just flopping around there!
Oh well, luckily it isnt something you show to everyone/anyone!!!! =; [-X
My labour sounds very like Sarah's.I was in labour for 22-23 hours then had a c/s so I have all the aches and pains of natural labour(well nearly all of them)plus the added bonus of c/s pain.My fanny didn't hurt to much, it was mainly my back.Felt like someone had punched it continuously for hours!Oh and the poo thing was awful, my poos felt sharp also but they were soft 8-[ and I couldn't push them out at all I had to let them fall out!I also was so bruised just about everywhere, my legs, arms, god knows what I was doing while in labour!
I wondered why my arms hurt so much 2 days after having Indah & then remembered I'd spent the whole time pushing by grabbing under my thighs with all my strength & pulling/pushing!!!!
i totally understand the poo thing, mine feel like im trying to poo out sideways sticks!! i never push at the moment just wait til its 'prairie doggin' then i rock if it gets difficult. but that doesnt always work.
i have lots of stitches to and i cant look at my fanny(everyone has asked if i have) it just freaks me out to much.
bit of group sympathy for us " oooh our poor fannies" #-o
