    slight prolapse

    Hey everyone,

The other day my stiches were bothering me - i had 2x 1st degree tears after a vacuum extraction (the 2nd tear i had was like more on the inside of my vagina, and i can still feel the stickes knots... shouldn't they have disolved by now??)

Anyway, so i got a mirror to check they were ok (which they were), but i noticed there was like bulges of my vagina from the inside which looked like they were coming out of me, IYKWIM?

So i went to the dr yesterday, and she had a look and said i have a slight prolapse...

Is it common to have this after the first baby??? I know my mum had it and had surgery to correct it, but that was after 3 kids...

Would this limit how many children i can have?? Or how soon i can have my next one?

Has anyone else had this? She suggested pelvic floor exercises, but didn't seem to worried..

I guess i'll speak to my obs about it in 3 weeks!

    Yael

    Hi,

I have had five kids and also have a minor prolapse. My obs/gyno has told me to work on the pelvic floor exercises which might rectify the problem, because it is in the early stages of a prolapse.

The reason you probably have the prolapse because you had a delivery that involve instruments to help deliver the baby. I had a vacumn extract after delivering number three and I had the same problems as you are experiencing.

Yael, how old is your baby, and when do you plan to have your next one. I would be asking for a referral to a physio who is experience in women's problems such as minor prolapse and she can show you how to do the pelvic floor exercises properly. The physio might be able to answers some of your questions as well, about how soon you can have your next one, but they usually tell you to wait 12 months before ttc your next child.

Yael I strongly recommend Physio. I did not have prolapse after Kaitlyn but my pelvic floor muscles were really weakened (she was 4.154Kgs and 26.5Hour labour!!).

I started going to Physio 6weeks after the birth and now I am all aok . Dont feel like the execises are not working as it took me 6weeks to notice any difference which is normal as it takes the same amount of time as it would to see results if you were working your muscles at the gym \/ that is what my physio said anyway.

    Hey guys,

thanks for the reply... I think i already had pretty weak pelvic floor muscles before any of this started, so i've been trying to remember to do some exercises now, but i'm pretty bad at remembering (i think i will have to put signs up all over the house)

I saw a phsyio for back pain when i was pregnant, and she told me how to do them, so i'll try it for a while, and if not go back and see her...

I also have an epi-no thingy, which says it helps with pelvic floor exerices, so i'll see it that helps.. I'm off to see the obs in like 2 weeks, so hopefully it will have improved a little bit by then..

Anyway, thanks for the advice, and i'll let you know how things work out
