I don't know whether this has fully answered your question or whether my perspective is too Christian to be of much use to you.
I'm not concerned if your viewpoint is Christian, Muslim, Jew etc... I was just curious to know which side of "creation" people believed in.

The theory of evolution sounds more logical than being created from mud as per the Koran. I most certainly believe in the power of God/Allah (however you want to read it).

You are such a knowledgable woman Bron. I admire you. Now, i guess can incorporate Allah's word into my evolution theory...
My understanding is that Allah created the evolutionary process just as he created everything else. -Brontide
    Thanks

You believe in Evolution and Allah? Or both? Do you believe in one more than the other?

I believe in the Holy Quran. The theory of evolution has no support in Islam. Allah the Almighty created, Adam, the first man from scratch. He was not evolved from any other creation of Allah. Allah created humans and animals from the Earth's dust: 'From the (earth) did We Create you, and into it Shall We return you, And from it shall We Bring you out once again (The Noble Quran, 20:55)'. Allah informed the Angel's he was creating a man from mud moulded, breathed soul into him and they all then prostrated before Adam.

Do you believe that God has pre-determined when we will die before/as we are born or do we control as to when we are going to die?

Indeed, Allah is the best planner. Allah plans when we are born and death. However, the will of man does exist. Here is an interesting article I found that explains it perfectly.

Jabr and Qadr in Islam (Free Will vs. Predetermination) - Windows Live

The will of man does exist, and yet the will of Allah is all-encompassing. How do we explain the co-existence of both wills simultaneously? Man's limited free will exists because Allah has allowed it, and it is limited in the sense that man's will is subject to God's. You may 'will' to sprout wings and fly, but good luck buddy. Allah wills for His creations what He wants, and since His supersedes yours, you may never get off the ground.

Or more realistically, you may 'will' to take your car from point A to point B, and you may do everything in your abilities (your abilities also being allowed to you by the will of God) but God willed that someone else should crash into you somewhere in the middle and you never make it to your destination.

There's a difference between your will and God's. You're only judged on what you do, not what happens to you. It's the difference between poking yourself in the eye with a fork deliberately or having a fork fly at you in a freak accident. No one will call you self-destructive in the second case, because it's not like it was your fault or will.

That's not quite true. If scholars of the calibre Nuh Ha Mim Keller argue that belief in macro-evolutionary transformation and variation of non-human species is compatible with Islam then clearly the theory of evolution does have support in Islam.

I'm just going to change the topic AGAIN (Sorry!)

I'm just reading a book called "What everyone needs to know about Islam" which i am finding very interesting.

It says that we are all the children from the one God. Muslim's Allah and the Christain's God and the Jewish God are all the SAME God. According to the book. And this is what i believe too. There is only one God and we all share Him.

I had a conversation with a fellow co-worker who is Presbytarian (sp??) and asked him if he believed that our God was the indeed the same God. And he said no. The Christain God is different and so is the Muslim God.

    What do you believe??

Same God, but we believe different things about him. For example, Christians believe that Jesus is God, and I think Muslims (and maybe Jews?) believe that he's a prophet.

I appreciate your thoughts. But i have a question for you. I just want to learn more that's all. Not attacking any religion here.

If Jesus is God, then why do i sometimes hear that Jesus is the "son" of God.

Plus, how do i/we change the title of this thread?? I think it should be called something like "Godly discussions"

Just to clarify this, JW's don't believe in the Trinity, they believe Jesus is the Son of God, not God Himself.

There is one God. Everyone believes in the same God but I guess some religions don't want to share the same God.

    Nelle-

You are right. We (Muslims) believe Jesus is a Prophet.

The God is the same (there is only 1 true God), but the way of worship and the beliefs are very different.

christians worship according to the direction given by Jesus Christ, and Muslims worship according to the directions given by Mohammud.

Muslims believe both of these men are/were prophets sent by God, so the question is, to which one should we listen? Christians listen to Jesus because of the sacrifice that he gave in order to bring us closer to God. And because of Jesus sacrifice, God elevated him to a position above all others (including mohammad)

So yes, we worship the same God, but our method is very different.

I believe in evoloution, considering there is scientific proof of this.
I do not believe all the "magic" stuff it just does not seem in the slightest part possible, I think the bible has been made from chinese whispers along the way, it may well have started with a great man by the name of jesus whom was a great healer ie,Doctor..
I then believe over time its been more and more elaborated on.
