not sure wether im going to misscarry?

ok its very confusing, basically i had a scan 2 1/2 weeks ago and was told i was approximately 5 weeks, went back yesterday to have it confirmed and find out if viable. gest sac was 5mm last time and 12mm this time(*average diameter) and the doc told me that there was no heartbeat and no little blob meaning there was a baby. she did an internal just to make sure as i hadnt drunk enough water(or it hadnt gotten to the bladder just yet). she told me that it had died at 6 weeks, now i would approximately be 7 1/2-8 weeks.(not sure as period was missed b4 concieved aswell). i really need some help and soem answers as im all new to this. can anybody help. what i really want to know is-
why is it taking so long to come out?? i havent had even 1 drop of blood??
why did it grow to 12mm in less then a week(from 5mm)??
is that possible/normal??
and someone told me(not a doctor or anything she said from experience as it happened to her) thats its possible im not far enough along and the size could mean multiples. there was only 1 yolk sac, is this possible??
Im only 16, will be 17 in april and while i know its young, i do love kids, (i wasnt trying!) and i would really like this one know that i've already concieved it. The idea of losing a child is horrible to me-im sure everyone in this section knows wat i mean. so anyone with information or who can help out is veyr much appreciated. i cant go to the doctor as they have no spots till thursday and im scared to go to the hospital in case they do a d and c and the baby is still alive and i kill it.

Oh dear. It doesn't sound good.

I think this is a "missed miscarriage". I have had one too, went in for 12 week scan to learn bubs had stopped growing at 8w2days (have no idea how they pinpoint that well tho).
I needed a currette (D&C), they don't always go on their own.

Have they referred you to anyone? Did they suggest D & C?

I'm really, really very sorry.

I'm really sorry to hear you have to go through this, not knowing for sure would be the worst thing.
Unfortuantly I don't really have any advice except maybe going to your dr when avaliable, or you could even just go to the emergency department and explain your situation, they will do appropiate tests etc, and they won't do a D&C unless they are sure your baby hasn't made it, and it's up to you anyway if you want a d&c or not.

at least that way you may have some more answers, and as you are actually doing something, might make you feel better than just sitting around waiting.

thanx 4 ur help every1. at the moment im not sure, its my 2nd misscarriage in a yr(last time was by rape so not wanted as much but still a sad event) the thing im really confused by was that if i did lose it at 6 weeks, how did it grow to 12mm in just a week?? i'm hoping to get a 2nd opinion as i did myself see 2 dots eitehr side of the yolk sac and i asked the ultrasound specialist wat it was and she said to hold on a sec just so she finished checking, then she had a talk to me, but she didnt answer my question at all! i'm going to try my best to get booked 4 another one very soon, but somewhere else. thanx 4 the help though every1!!

yeah, i know, thats why i was asking here cuz i was so confused, she asked me wether i wanted to talk to the senior guy and i was like not unless its necessary becuz i wanted to get home. i probably didnt look upset becuz it hadnt sunk in yet properly. and i was telling myself not to cry, but then when i left the room my sister was waiting for me and she just looked at me questioningly and i shook my head and just burst into tears. so much for holding myself together.... the lady told me to go see my doctor, i told her i had an appoinment thursday and she didnt hear me...she was barely listening to me. the main reason i want a 2nd opinion is because while she was doing the internal i saw 2 little dots on the screen on each side of the yolk sac, i asked her what they were and she didnt listen. im not convinced shes right about losing the baby because of that, my best friend(she tells me she is going to be the adopted 2nd mummy) said that its possible that im not far enough along, and from what i cn remember the last time i 'did the deed' was about 5 weeks ago, shes more convinced then me that its sitll alive, shes also very convinced it could be multiples because of the size. whats the normal size at 6 weeks? and at 8 weeks? if anyone knows it

I agree with Lulu that you should have had more support. Sometimes your body takes a while to let go of the Pregnancy, I m/c at 13.5 weeks but was told that the bub hadn't grown to that size. they didn't say when they thought it may have stopped growing. I would definitely try and make an appointment with a Dr. ASAP to get some info. All the best, we are here for you.

my dad is in the army so we are living in a fairly posh area of south fremantle, meaning that most the doctors and stuff that we know off(havent been here long) are very expensive, and being nearly 3:30 its hard to get into a place, nothing is open until tuesday. i have called about 6 of them and the earliest time i could get was thursday. im sitll calling though, and hoping for an earlier

I hate to bring it up..but maybe it's cause of your age they are treating you like this, thinking your not mature enough etc..hence not listening to you etc... (I am not at all saying this is true!!!!)
when really, if it is cause of your age they should do the complete opposite and tell you more and ensure you DO have support etc!!!
are there any clinics or anything around the area for teenage mums? maybe they have numbers/contacts that are best for your situation? is that an option for you??

yeah thats wat i was thinking, and yeah i also think they should hav been telling me more as i seriously dont know anything(well maybe a little bit) and pregnancy, i knows tons about babies whne theyre born but nothing about before that. i tried after hours gps but none are available as its aussie day 2moro. my parents are just telling me to wait it out until thursday

Yeah, it will be your age - sorry. My gf was spoken to terribly and even worse she is dyslexic and wasn't sure how to spell something so they were just awful.

Look, TBH, if you estimate you are about 8 weeks, you would pretty clearly see a heartbeat. I'm really sorry again.
A heartbeat kicks in about 5 weeks, if there is nothing there by 8 weeks....well it's not good.

Maybe you could get a few home tests and see what they say over the next few days. Get one with 3 tests in it. It may be hard to get hold of a gp right now, and if it tests neg, you may get the answers.

Trying to get in to the dr's in perth is terrible. When i started spotting i wasnt sure what was going on. It was a sunday so ended up going to murdoch emergency were they did scans etc. They would be able to take blood which would tell you how your hormone levels are going. They take two lots of blood over three days and if your levels are the same or decreasing then you are loosing the bub. This is what i asked for before i made the decision to have a d&c.

Murdoch private ED would cost you alot of money to see a Dr there, but I think there is an A/H GP there. A/H GP would generally bulk bill you if you have a health care card, if not you might pay for either medicare gap (about $20) or full fee (about $50), then you can claim back some money from medicare. There is an A/H GP opposite RPH in the city, they are open from 6pm till 10pm, you can just walk in and will be open tmrw from 12pm to 10pm.
Have you had a BT? do you know your hcg levels? if you do you can compare them. If not you could get BT, then when you get the results if the levels do not corrulate with PG in weeks, it is unfortunatly bad news.
If you have had a missed m/c you will probably bleed, but it could take a couple of weeks, or you can get referal for D&C.
I do hope that your dates are miss calculated and that you are not as far along as you think.

Hi Hun, so sorry to hear what you are going through. This is a very hard time for you, and all the uncertainty makes it even worse. I really agree with Shan that you should go to your local hospital and they will be able to do tests and you should be able to get the answers you need. Don't worry, they cannot force you to have a D & C, that is totally up to you. Please keep in touch, will be thinking of you.
