Jenna - glad you're ok, but sorry that you've had some scares... the only good thing is you got to hear dragon fly's heartbeat a lot lately and there is nothing more perfect. Poor DS. Glad you're not affected too much by the floods in Vic. Toy boxes.. how cute. Not long to go now and you'll be 30 weeks - how incredibly exciting.

Gem - I forgot to tell you that Maria was on my list too! It's better to have a list than not.... I love books too, so good to hear that you had a good time trolling in the bookstore. That DVD sounds good - peaceful.

All ok here - we aren't in an area directly affected by the flooding, although we used to be. It's quite surreal seeing places you know quite well under water. The floods have just been so devastating and I have to admit I cry every time the media reports the story of how some folks have lost their lives. I can't know what their journey is like with the trauma those folks have experienced but I do know what it's like to have lost loved ones, and it's a very hard journey. My heart just goes out to those suffering the loss of loved ones right now. It is reassuring though to see by and large that people have banded together to help others. And some people never lose their sense of humour.... the statue of Wally Lewis outside Suncorp Stadium was dressed with floaties and a mask and snorkel.... time for a wry smile.

Jen - sorry about your GD - are you feeling any better about it today? We must have posted at the same time... sorry I missed it in my last post.

I saw the neurologist today - and had a nerve conduction test, basically getting mildly electrically shocked. Kinda weird, uncomfortable but not painful. Good news - nerves in my limbs seem ok. So off for a huge whack of bloods, a GTT ( the 2 hour one - thought I was done and dusted with those) and also a full head and spine MRI( they are not cheap! but get a lot back from medicare just have to pony up in the first place though), then back to the neurologist in March. Although I still have carpal tunnel in both wrists which may or may not go away. And I was told it ( the nerve issues) could be serious or it could just be the nerves are agitated after a virus and it will pass and the tests may or may not find out, but if something is found, it will be discovered early and is likely to be very treatable. Oh guess what - the neurologist called me "young". I am just beaming with that bit of a compliment.

So sorry you are having another loss. I had 3 mc's in 2009 and for me seeing a natural chinese medicine man who does acupuncture and mixes up individual herbs for his customers was the way to go. After seeing him I was pregnant with DS 4 weeks later.

Dory I am truly lost when you talk of nerve conduction test... Doesn't sound too god. I hope the blood tests go ok... pitty about the cost of the different procedures and all, but glad you are getting it sorted out... Hannah needs her mum in tip top shape hopefully it was just the virus stiring things up... how are you feeling now?

I can't believe Hannah is 4 months old... Time seems to be flying by so quickly... before we know it all of our littlies would of had their 1st birthdays...

I wonder how Tait is going? I bet he is keeping Dexy on her toes... I wonder if she got to go for her trim? ! ? ! lol

How is Jenna doing? I have thought about you Jen and those floodings in Victoria... I hope you are ok.

Where is Dexy? You're not in Victoria I hope? I hope everyone is alright.

AFM: Time is getting away from me. I was asked the other day how far along I was... I had to guess lol and I still wasn't sure until I checked on here... how sad is that lol... me and my baby brain!

We just came back from the beach... it was quite nice down there... it's going to be soooo hot this weekend, 37 tomorrow and 42 on sunday, so it was nice to get out the house while it was a little cooler... waddling along slower and slower as the walk progressed though lol

I went with DH and co for a tour of the hospital yesterday. I have been there many times, but I have never been familiar with the birthing areas etc it was good to have a look around, but they give you so much information that I think I might have to go on the tour again. I am looking into doing the classes too, just have to work out which night to do them, I think they will do a tour with the classes anyway.

Bubs is growing strong, DH thought he felt ankles the other night... I often wonder how I got through my previous pregnancies, and question how much further this belly can expand... I have my next antenatal appointment at 24 weeks, and we will have another scan at 28 weeks. Oh I bought some pink clothes and blankets the other day, but I am still not prepared to take the tags off just yet.... just in case lol... My DH picked me up a belly cushion and it is a treat, supporting my bump while i sleep on my side.

    Well, Take care ladies!

Gem - good to hear that thing are going well and you got out to the beach! That is VERY hot weather indeed. However do you cope with the heat whilst being pregnant?

How exciting about going on a tour of the hossy! Is the same hossy where Jayden was born? There is sooooo much information to take in, doesn't hurt to do another tour. At the hossy I was at, antenatal classes were interesting. We even got to see a real live newborn baby.... it was awesome. Funny too - all these yet to be first time parents in awe of the parents of a 3 day old baby. Now I know how little they really knew, and how much it's still like a babymoon in the hospital.

Remember this isn't your first pregnancy, your belly will expand more.

    How exciting 23 weeks.

How are you feeling about first Jayden's angel versary coming up? Personally I think it helps to be pregnant ... but then I don't think I've ever not been pregnant for the first angel versaries.

The nerve conduction test is really quite simple - lay down and the Dr gently places a little thing in different parts of your body and then switches on the power. I think its basically giving the nerves a shock and then the response comes up on the monitor. For me, it was mildly uncomfortable, but not enough to stop me talking non stop. I had my 2 hour GTT and bloods last weekend - phew 10 vials of blood. I wiped out for the rest of that day. I have an MRI this coming Monday - bit nervous about it, but not much to be done about it will just have to suck it up and get through it. I can always ask for a tranquiliser if I need it.... I will be "in there" for an hour I am told. I feel ok, strangely. The sensations have turned into burning sensations and that is quite uncomfortable.

Jenna has been struggling with managing her gestational diabetes... she posted in another thread - pregnancy after loss.

I've not heard from Dexy - she must be just besotted with her little Taity cakes.

I can't believe Hannah is 4 months old either? It's sad in a way - she's not a little newborn anymore. But she is so totally engaging and alert. She is at the moment refusing, but good naturedly so far, to go to sleep for her afternoon nap. It seems that rolling over and getting stuck is taking priority over sleep. Little mischief.

Looking forward to hearing about your scan..... take care of yourself and your bubs.

Dory I am happy to hear that Hannah is doing well... how adorable getting up to mischief hehehe... how is she sleeping during the night now? The picture you have in your signature is simply gorgeous and yes I can see a little cheekiness in her It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job, as such a well behaved bubs stems from very good parenting you know!

I hope everything goes well for your scan on monday. I'll be thinking of you. Remember to tell the docs to leave you some blood... ! I often tell them that lol, just as I tell them that needles and I are NOT friends at all...

I have mixed feelings about Jaydens angel versary. I do like the name you have given it though. I went to the cemetry the other day and found the flowers that we had placed in a pot had all died off, I suppose they done well to last almost a year. I have bought the pot home and I want to have it replenished with some new flowers before the big day. I think I will visit with DH and the kids to the cemetry on the day. I haven't been going as much lately, I think it is important that the children understand that they don't have to go to the cemetry to remember and respect him.

I have been going through all our bubby stuff and getting things ready. I know its still early but I washed all the clothes, towels and blankets today in preparation. Mum came up for lunch and we were folding the clothes together... her and my DH keep telling me that 000 is going to be too small, they seem to think that size 000 would fit the baby right now, not in 4 months... they're just teasing though... "I hope" lol all previous 3 were 7 pounders... they think this one will be at least 9... ouch

Its going so fast... I was saying to my DH the other day how it seems like just a few weeks ago that we first found out that we are expecting, and how at that moment it seemed like it was going to be forever before bubs will be here with us. I guess with school returning tomorrow, it seems to be getting a little closer, with christmas been and gone and we are well into the new year!

My memory is shot at the moment, how big was Hannah when she was born? And what size was she in? I have mainly 000 and 00, only two items in 0000, I also have a mixture of blue and pink clothes lol...

I can't believe how much cot mobiles cost... I'm pretty sure they were no more than about $20 when the older 3 were bubs, but now they are starting at about $60 up til about $120. I'm glad I got most other things on sale... I guess I can leave that for the in laws, they keep telling me to leave them something to buy lol

Anyways, as I said, hope everything goes well for you tomorrow Dory! All the best.

    Hi Ladies,

It's been pretty quiet in here, I hope everyone is doing fine... ! Maybe we need a new thread... ! ? !

I had my antenatal appointment today and was lucky enough to watch bub for about 20 minutes or so. "She" is looking wonderful. Our midwife said that there is a test they do on bub's to check on movements, breathing motions (lungs expanding) fluid around the baby, the placenta etc a total of 8 things they check for, she said they allow 45 minutes to check each one off, she said many babies don't co-operate with this test and most fail, but today our bubs had passed each one of the checks and received a score of 8/8 in approx 4 minutes. Bub was on the move constantly and she was making the motions of chewing, our midwife said she is eating and asked me if I had just eaten anything... we went to the cafeteria for hot chips and gravy while we were waiting because, as usual, they were running over an hour behind.

I say "she" in this way because we are still not 100% sure... we're pretty confident we're having a girl and our midwife is fairly confident but because of an anterior placenta she was still reluctant. We will keep an eye on this. We have our next scan at 28 weeks.

While watching bub on the screen, we seen her eyes open and she was looking around, absolutely amazing, I don't remember seeing any of this with my older 3 children. Bub put her thumb and index finger to her head as though she was having a think about something. We got a couple of photos. They're not as clear on these portable machines but still so exciting to see our little one. She was also playing with the umbilical cord.

Everything is looking great, I got a little worried when the midwife was stating that she was glad it is me going to be pushing this bub out and not her, suggesting a big bubba. She measured the fundal height at 28cm. I think I read somewhere that the fundal height is usually the same as the gestation in weeks, so 24 weeks should be about 24cm ! ? ! ? I should have asked her this but didn't realise the measurement until I was checking my notes after we left. She thought bub looked pretty big but said it is hard to estimate how big bub will be, the US machines can predict a little better than fundal height etc but even still, it's hard to say. And sometimes babies get to a certain point and slow down in growth.

I have started to feel pressure under the ribs.

We have talked about being induced as early as 37 weeks if bub is looking like she is going to be too big (I can't remember the name she gave it). Also because of other reasons. My youngest DS was a difficult birth with complications. I won't go into detail here.

I have my next antenatal appointment in 4 weeks along with the drink (glucose) test.

So, apart from a sore neck, I'm feeling great at the moment, at ease that bub is doing well in there and we are getting things organised for her slowly. It's great to be able to contact the family and let them know the good news too. I think we just about have everything sorted out now, just have to write a birth plan and pack my bag. We have been stocking up on nappies over the past few weeks as they have been on sale. We have 4 boxes of newborn nappies now and I think I will have to wait for buying particular gender just to be sure. I have tested the sterilizer and bottle warmer and everything works well. Everything is slowly falling into place.

I hope you are all doing well.

    Darlings!

I feel soooooo terrible for not getting on here!

I just wanted you to know that I'm always thinking of each of you & your beautiful little bundles...

Motherhood has been CRAZY to say the least - I no longer have time to scratch my backside!

Dory - Hugs for you & Hannah Bear

Gem - Your almost there gorgeous girl! Love & Best Wishes are with you.

Jenna - Hope your managing ok... GD is 'unfair' to say the least.

Nuts @ home - Selling our house to move back to the suburbs
Tait is 100 miles an hour... Constantly!
But he is a good little boy - Much more settled now that earlier days! Still requires winding down & settling, but thriving. 4 months on Monday - Started solids today.
I know you likley think I'm mad!?! But 2 weeks ago he was already in the 97th percentile for his weight & length - So the average size of a 6 month old! I swear I only had a newborn for a few days lol
Better start planning for the next one me thinks!

Anyways, love to you all & I promise I will call back in again to check on you all one day soon.

Dexy - Awesome to hear from you and that Taity Cakes is going so well. Where has that 4 months gone? I feel like I blinked and missed the newborn phase... but it sure doesn't feel like that when you're up in the night with a crying and unsettled baby.

Good idea to move back to the burbs... I went to a friends place closer to town the other day, and while it was a nice 2 bed room unit and quite spacious - there was no "outside". HB and I often spend our afternoons out on the front lawn, with HB having some pants off time. We have a yard the size of a postage stamp and not really any useable back yard at the mo ( we plan to lay some turf...... I do say plan) so it's the front yard where there is no privacy at all. But I generally lie on the street side of HB so that at least she has some privacy. To be honest, she adores that time and I feel so much more relaxed afterwards.

How is DS1 coping with having a baby brother? I think in a way it's ideal timing for him - just as he's starting to want to separate from his parents, his parents have a huge distraction on their hands.... LOL. So it gives him some breathing space, but he can also choose to be more involved with his little brother.

However speaking of working on the next one..... we have sort of started. I haven't had my cycle return that I know of, but we took the plunge anyway. Ideally I should lose some weight and get fitter... but....... I have a referral to my Obs to really thrash out all those issues... must remember to make the appointment for sooner rather than later.

HB is in that percentile for height/length ( actually she's off the chart for that and head circumference) and somewhere between 95 and 97 for weight. I am still persevering with BF'ing - mostly because I am lazy and don't want the extra work and I want to eke out every beautiful second of that special time we have together.

....though admittedly when I am bone tired and have been up several times in the night it doesn't feel that special as I drag my sorry self out of bed, but once we get started, it is special. So I have been putting it off, and HB seems to be ok, but she is probably ready.

Gem - 25 weeks....... when is your next scan? I can't remember.

Jenna - how is that GD going?

Oh well, we were going to have some photos taken today but the photographer had a death in the family... so we'll reschedule. Oh and on Friday I tried to have a day at the day spa, and HB lasted 10 mins without me and just cried inconsolably and was goji berry red. Poor little blossom. Needless to say, I am not pampered, but I know I am needed. I will try again, but this time with DH looking after her. Will try to build up with the baby sitter ( my aunt). Poor HB I felt so sad for her that she was just so distressed. I was hoping that separation anxeity wouldn't kick in til 6 months, but apparently it can kick in this early.

Belly rubs to Gem and Jenna, and 4 month cuddles to Taity.

Dexy lovely to hear from you again and glad to hear everything is going well, a little more busy but well Sounds as though tait is doing great, solids already wow... I started my eldest around that time, and CYH lectured me about it doh, never went back to them after that. Sounds like tait will grow to be a big boy! I hope everything goes well with your move, moving is never easy, especially when either pregnant or with a young one... when do you think you will move? Speaking of pregnant... your planning for another little one I hear... I look forward to hear some wonderful news soon

Dory wow your getting back on the bandwagon and planning your next one too... great news! I hope to hear some wonderful news from you soon too... ! Hope you get to be pampered soon

Jen I hope you are doing ok and getting through your GD ok... my thoughts are with you often.

Well DH felt massive movements the other night. I say movements because bub is getting to the stage where she thinks that instead of kicking she is just going to stretch her leg out as far as she can, so I have a foot poking out of my belly for a few moments. These ones actually hurt. DH was amazed and over the moon to be feeling her. I said "see, now when you hear me saying 'ouch' you know what bub is doing" So yes feeling plenty of movements pretty much all the time, I actually wonder if she does have any sleeping periods, or maybe she is sleep kicking...

My belly is growing so quickly... I have actually grown out of one of my maternity tops...

We tried out the baby seat for the car the other day, had a little struggle with it to begin with, but worked it out in the end... just have to work out how to fold up the stroller now lol... still about 14 weeks to go, seems so close now, yet strangely it also feels so far away.

Danni - that is AWESOME about being so close yet so far.... as you know it will fly. Before you know it you'll be 30 weeks and then 40 is not far away. Do you have any plans for her birth?

I was ROTFL that you've grown out of a maternity top... clearly it wasn't well made with a growing baby bump in mind.

I am glad that DH got to feel your kick boxer again but sorry it's hurting.

Oh Dexy, got the bug too? GL with ttc. I am so keen.... well maybe not today... I had a sleepless night not Hannah. and am feeling a bit wiped out today ( But I know it will pass).. go figure, Ihad a bad night and Hannah had a great night. Could have been that we both had a bad one.... so I am not really complaining.

Jenna - hope your GD is under control and you are travelling ok.

LOL Dory I'm down to two maternity tops DOH oh well, at least the one I grew out of will still get some use after bub is born, as it is also a breast feeding top... and my maternity shorts have a massive rip in the back pocket... my DH was putting on a load of washing the other day and pointed it out to me... I was so concerned about when that actually happened, weather I was out that day, and what undies I would of had on LOL... can't change it now though can I

I have started to put together a birth plan, but still got a lot of details to finalise yet. I was discussing briefly with DH last night particularly about who we will have present at the birth. When we delivered Jayden we had DH obviously, mum, mum-in-law, and sister-in-law in the room. Jayden was to be DH first child and mil/sil first grandson/nephew. I was a little embarrassed having mil and sil in the room, I don't know why, I have been through it a few times in my past lol... I guess back then I had only my husband at the time and my blood relies at the births, which is a little different. DH suggests it be just him and I and the doc/midwife during the actual birth this time, he wants to be the proud Dad to walk out and announce the baby's sex even though we have told them that it looks like we're having a girl. I think I would like it to be just us for the birth, but I am concerned about how the family will take the news about that.

I have booked an antenatal class for 32 weeks, DH will spend a whole day their rather than try to make it once a week for 4 weeks. I'm looking forward to it. I also want to sneak a peak at the water birth class and breast feeding class too. Water birth interests me, but I'm not real sure about it.

As for names I am trying to talk DH into the name Shanti Anna-Marie... what do you think? I really like it, DH is a little hesitant, I'm hoping it wil grow on him as we have no other names really...

I got a little video clip of bub kicking this morning... glad I captured it and hoping to capture more in the future, this is going to be our last bub and I want to treasure all these sorts of memories as I didn't get things like this with the older 3.

I was saying to someone yesterday how it's been 10 years since I have been this far pregnant, my body is definately not as young as it was back then and I am noticing it big time. I am not old either LOL "31"

Bub feels like she is getting so heavy, and trying to get around is starting to get a little akward, I am waddling a lot, I don't remember waddling this early in my previous pregnancies, but having such a large time gap I wonder if I should really compare. I am getting a lot of pains in the left which come and go, but when I do have them, they can last quite a while, up to half hour or so, and be quite strong. I haven't gotten too concerned about it, thinking that it is likely to do with the fact that I was constipated for most of the first half of this pregnancy. I get the BH contractions too, which always make me stop and think... hang on... - nope not yet, still got 14 weeks left to go - or whatever. lol

2 weeks until our next scan... I will be interested to see these big feet kicking away... !

Hope you have a good rest tonight Dory!

It's a beautiful name... but what's important is that you and DH get to decide.

I have never had anyone except DH ( and the medical team) for any of my births. We live a fair way from our families and in the end they've all sort of happened relatively quickly. I can understand that it would be weird to have MIL in, as for me having anyone in would be weird.

Pregnancy can be very uncomfortable.... and I think age doesn't help. I am 38 this year - yikes! That's also part of the rush to ttc again... this body ain't getting any younger and neither are those eggies. I hope you're not to uncomfortable. I got to like my BH's after I got over the fear that they meant labour was imminent.

Water birth sounds really interesting. Let me know what you find out. Obs said for me having already had a caesear it's safer to have another. Bit disappointed, but I think I will dream about vaginal but prepare for caesear for the next one. Ha, look at me thinking about that stuff already.

Anyway, I am going to nap.

Congrats on being the pregnant-est you've been in 10 years too - that is quite an achievement my dear, even with the discomforts.

Hey guys, I keep on forgetting to get on and post lol baby brain is here with a vengeance these days.

Going ok, on 6 units of insulin a day now, though it will probably go up again soon.

Not sure what that will mean for my plans for a VBAC, but I still want to go through trial of labour again, regardless of how far along I get to... hubby is of the opinion that I should just listen to the doctors even though they say I have to do things that I don't want blegh!

Been getting a few contractions on and off over the last 4 days, and Little Miss has started to engage, even though she's still posterior.

Went to Geelong on Wednesday night to see the in-laws, DS had a ball, ABSOLUTELY LOVES trains lol every time we saw one he would constantly say "Dat's Train! Dat's Train!" the same with buses and Trams lol

Walked around the Queen Vic markets yesterday morning, was great to have a look around, then went to Melton to visit the pet shop there (I have a fascination with pet Rats, had 5 at home + 14 baby ones already, and ended up buying 4 of the most ugliest little furry critters you've ever seen, but they've stolen my heart lol). DS loves them too, which is good as they're teaching him to be gentle with small animals lol

Other than that I'm just in pain a lot, can't walk at the moment without pain going right through my butt and pelvis.

Only 5 & 1/2 weeks to go though, so it will be worth it all in the end.

Sorry for no persies, hope you're all doing great and hopefully next time I'll have the time and energy to actually do persies!

Jen lovely to hear from you... sorry to hear your having a bit of a hard time of it. I know only too well about the pain you are in with walking. I was with Mum yesterday having a look through some shops and after each hour not only did I get more and more sore, but I got more and more slow, mum kept turning around to look for me... I started getting pain in the groin, which is different, usually it's my hips, or my lower belly muscles, or pelvis. Later at night I was sitting in a chair and my hips started to get really sore... I found comfort in sitting in my recliner but then found I was stiff when I went to get up and go to the loo... I think I need to exercise more (I do yoga once a week, trying to push myself to do it on my own during the week too) I found that at my last session I was a little more sore than usual after the class finished.

I bet you are getting excited about meeting your little bub soon. Not long to go now, lucky you!

Yesterday when I was in the shops I got talking with a lady who had a 4 and a half month old baby girl. We were talking about everything baby and labour related in the middle of the baby section of target lol... we must have been talking for about 20 minutes (until my phone rang) and the whole time, her little baby girl lay there wide awake just watching her mum, making noises, playing with her blanket and smiling, this is about how old Dory's bub is I thought ! It was lovely to see such a happy little baby.
