Just wanted to let you guys know that I had my little girl on Wednesday after a 5hr labour (well, 4hrs and 43 minutes to be exact lol) She's absolutely perfect, we came home yesterday evening as we were all doing really well and I'm feeling good.
Will be back on sometime over the weekend, but just wanted to let you all know

Gem - how's your DD going now? And your bump is 32 weeks now! Not long now.... but for you it feels like a long time, I know.

Dory I know 32 weeks today, we had antenatal class today, information overload. And as I said to the class, this maybe the 4th baby for me, but it is the first class I have ever been to (unless you count the one c section class I attended 15 years ago lol) We decided on the one long class today rather than going back for 4 weeks. It meant that it was an 8 hour day, but much easier to have the kids looked after once on a saturday than to have them looked after 4 times on a wednesday evening.

So many different pregnancy symptoms slowing me down lately, I don't even know where to start. Trying to take each day as it comes at the moment. My hips and pelvis are quite painful making it difficult to get around. It was a little embarrassing today when we were taken for a walk to the delivery suite I was really struggling to walk there, but all the other mums to be (first timers) were all fine and walking without any problems at all, barely even a waddle. I love it when I am out with DH though as he carries my heavy handbag (it doesn't suit him though lol) and anything else and it's just a matter of me walking then.

DD is doing much better, thanks for asking after her. She came home on Wednesday after finally getting through the night without needing oxygen. She finished her antibiotics on Thursday night, and her temperature has been stable for a week now. She is feeling so much better. You should have seen her face when the doctors came around Wednesday morning and told her she could go home. She had a grin from ear to ear that she started to get a little embarrassed because she just couldn't hide the beautiful smile, she was so happy to get home. I suppose we would all be feeling like that after being sick in hospital for 10 days out of 14 (if I remember correctly) It's strange having her home from school sick, and encouraging her to get outside and play so we can get her lungs working well. Usually when the kids are home sick from school, they are isolated and told to rest. She has been nagging me to go back to school. I told her to wait until next week, and she complained that it's nearly school holidays again already. She received heaps of cards from all the kids in her class to which she replied and she was so happy to see her friend at the school gate while she was waiting with me in the car for her brother after school on Friday.

Dory - Thanks darl, feels like it was just yesterday that I joined this thread while ttc... can't believe it was almost a year ago already!

Gem - Glad your DD is home and well again! And 32 weeks, won't be long now and you'll be holding bub

afm - Elise has colic, so we haven't been getting much sleep since getting home, though last night was better than the night before, even with DS waking up crying every hour.
It breaks my heart every time she starts screaming and arching her back, it's worse when trying to BF, as she'll suck for a few seconds and then start screaming, and she'll be so hungry that she'll scream more.
We gave in the other night and bought some formula, as she feeds a lot at night and I can't always express enough for every feed (she's drinking 60-70mls a feed already!), though there's currently 250mls of EBM in the fridge at the moment, first time there's ever been that much in there at any one time lol I just have to cut down on ho often I express now to regulate my supply, easier said than done because the engorgement is so so painful!
Hubby has just gone out to get something fo the colic after the midwife called to see how we were going this morning and suggested we get something for her, and tomorrow Elise will be having her newborn screening and heel***** and get weighed, so it will be interesting to see if all the feeds have made her put on weight already.

Hope you're all doing well, will stop back in when I'm able to.

Jenna - good to hear from you..... sorry to hear Elise is having a rough time, which means you are too. Colic is tough. If the colic remedies don't work, maybe you can ask teh dr's to investigate silent reflux... ?

Don't feel guilty about formula and supply, the best thing is that she's getting enough food and it doesn't matter how. She also needs a mummy that is as rested as she can be, and not totally exhausted and run down. Engorgement is really painful! I never did use cabbage leaves to help it, I just used cool and warm washers.

Not sure if I said, but I love the pic of DS and you and DD. Too cute by far. Also I know this is a bit left field, but Elise's initials spell Epee and that's a weapon used in fencing. It's very cool, and so are her initials.

Dory - We got th infacol today, and she has been asleep for the past 4 hours! It's like I have a completely different baby, and it's a first for her... she has also had 2 explosive nappies today, so that might be contributing to it all as well.

I'm not feeling guilty about the formula yet, I've had it stuck in my head that if I couldn't do it then I couldn't do it, I had enough guilt with DS not being able to latch on and my supply drying up completely when he was 6 weeks old and having to explain to every tom **** and harry why I asn't breastfeeding, so I'm taking what I've been given already and cherishing it. I know I can do it now, so no matter what happens from here on I'll be content

I love the pic too, pity that DS didn't want anything to do with her at the time though lol this morning while I was burping her he came over and wrapped his arms around her in a big hug and said "Awww, cuddles!" was so cute and I wish I'd had the camera on me to take a photo of it.

And I did realise about her initials spelling Epee lol, when I first brought up her name with hubby (I picked it all lol, hubby had no say in it, even when I told him to pick another name as an alternative he wouldn't play ball lol) I looked at it and thought "Funky" lol

I love the pic of Hannah in your ticker too, she's so gorgeous, and has such a beautiful smile!

Anyway, I must go, it's time to express again and they are that hard and sore as it's been 4 hours now since I last expressed. They never hurt this bad, or were this big with DS lol, must be something about having carried a girl this time, al those extra girly hormones floating around messing things up lol

Jen glad to hear little one is doing better. How did she go overnight?

I was meant to go out yesterday but DH gave me strict instructions not to. I have been in so much pain with these hips. We called the hospital yesterday morning to see what they suggest. They said hot water bottle and panadol is basically all we can do. They said if it continues then I should come in and see the physiotherapist. Well we decided after resting in the lounge with a hot water bottle, taking some panadol and having breakfast at 6am sunday morning was all too much to go to all the way into town, so we went back to bed. Sitting isn't too bad with a hot water bottle, walking is painful, but trying to sleep is the worst. I get so uncomfortable after about an hour, the side I am laying on starts to ache really bad, but when I try to turn over my whole pelvis feels like it will snap. I have to grab hold of the bed head or the side drawers to pull myself over in order to turn. My DH is getting woken up every time I turn. And if it's not that waking me up during the night, it's either my nose being blocked or my bladder being full. It just seems impossible to get a good nights sleep. Bub has been booting the crap out of me. They say that at this stage bub sleeps atleast 80% of the time, but I think I am lucky if she stops booting for 20% of the time. Does that mean she is booting in her sleep? A lot of the time it's more rolls and pokes but she still likes to have a go at kicking too. I swear she is doing gymnastics or something lol. I like her moving around, it's great reassurance, but some of the movements she does realy hurts. She is very strong. DH was grossed out yesterday when he finally managed to feel the ones I say really hurt. He puts his face near my belly and tells her to behave herself LOL she stops briefly when he does that.

Jenna - LOL hard as rocks I reckon they were after 4 hours! But yay for some sleep for Elise. Too much guilt going around isn't there. We do what we need to do to ensure our babies are healthy and nourished. Ahh some people are just holier than thou and are too judgemental. Thanks about the compliment for H too - her smile makes me just stop and stand still and admire it. Amazing.

Gem - I so remember how uncomfortable the third tri can be - everything you've said is just like me.... just think in a little while you'll be holding your wee bundle and will forget all this.

I am cheating here, I have copied the same post into two different threads to update everyone.

I have been in and out of hospital since monday, been really sick and been given the run-around from the hospital. First they said I have tonsilitis and acute bronchitis but have since found out I have the same pneumonia bug my daughter had. LMH done another scan to check on bub yesterday morning and to double check amniotic fluid. Fluid is still high, but apparently not to bad. Bub measuring about 5.5 pounds and seems to be doing well despite what I am going through. It was good reassurance after she had been relatively quiet on Wednesday and I had about 30 BH contractions that day. Still been having more than usual but not as many as wed. Came home thursday afternoon coz docs were not looking after me properly (had to wait 2.5 hrs for pain relief after it was due, and 3 hours for antibiotics after it was due) atleast they didn't drop kick me out the door like WCH when they told me they need the bed on Tue. Came home thursday to find DS and eldest DD are coming down with what seems to be the same bug... it's like a bad flu, feel like i've been hit by a truck, chest and throat hurt and hips... well lets not go there. So three of us are coughing, have temperature fluctuations and feeling ill. We're waiting for the blood results to confirm the other two but they're on antibiotics too. Thought DH was coming down with it today, he seems to be better now though, so hoefully it is just that he is tired from all the running around and dealing with doctors and nurses on my behalf and trying to explain it to his work etc.

So anyways thats my update, I have a scan tomorrow for growth which was booked some weeks ago so I am going to try to make it to that. It will be interesting to see if it says 35 weeks plus like the other machine at LMH..

    How is everyone going?

Jen how are you and Elise?

Dory how are you and Hannah?

Dexy how are you and Tait?

AFM Had the scan on Saturday, somehow I managed to go to it. Bub is measuring 36 weeks at 33 weeks. Approximately 6 pounds. I have been plotting her chart and she is off the scale for BPD and abdominal measurements.
I have an antenatal appointment later today. I will be seriously discussing induction and at what point we might be able to consider it. I have just finished my birth plan a couple of days ago.
I have been to a physio last night and she has confirmed I have Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. This explains all the pain and discomfort that I have been having.
She taped me back together again and gave me a support belt and I feel a lot more secure now. I actually got a much better nights sleep, and I even got to sleep on my side again YAY.
She wants me to stay in bed for two days because I couldn't do any of the exercises she wanted me to do. I have to go back on Thursday but she thinks she might have me mobile again within 2-3 weeks.
It has been 5 weeks since I have been for my last antenatal appointment, which I was concerned was a little long. I am really interested to see what she has to say today about the size of bub, the fluid level, the hip pain.
I have been getting a lot of pressure down below. At times I am going to the toilet every half an hour for several hours. Sometimes the pain is so bad I don't want to move. (which is different than the pelvic pain)
Am still recovering from this bug, and breathing is difficult at the moment.
I'll come back and update after my appointment today when I will hopefully have some more news.

    Hi Ladies,

Hope everyone is well. Haven't heard anything for a little while. Although I have been typing away as there is not much else I can do at the moment. I can't walk anywhere at the moment.

Had antenatal appointment last night. She wanted to admit me so she can get me into their physio at the hospital rather than continue down the expensive road of seeing someone privately. I ended up coming home though and she has followed it up today for us. I am booked in to physio on Friday. My DH has picked up a wheelchair this afternoon so I can get around over the next few weeks. I am so embarrassed and upset about having to use a wheelchair, but I don't have much of a choice. When I went to antenatal appointment I couldn't even walk to the appointment area.
DH is finishing up at work next week so he can be here with me and the kids. He is quite worried about how things are going to work out, I try to tell him not to worry, that I will be ok, but when he see's the pain I am in it is very hard on him. He has been sick himself and when I try to do things for myself so he can rest he gets upset with me for not sitting down and letting him do it. Thankfully he is feeling and sounding better today. Eldest and youngest are still sick with this pneumonia, thankfully they haven't been as sick as DD was a couple of weeks ago, they seem to managing a lot better. God only knows what we would do if they needed to be hospitalized like DD.
So we spoke to the doctor at antenatal about induction. She said if we need to, we could possibly go as early as 36 weeks (2nd May) but she is talking about c-section and epidural, the two things I most want to avoid. I have finished my birth plan and I have stated that epidural and c-section is very last resort. I am really scared of both, and for several reasons. When I delivered DS, I was in the same position for about 12 hours, didn't move, and if I have an epidural, the same thing will happen again, which is what I think may have started this hip problem becoming worse than it ever had been before. Second, if I have a cut across my belly, then I have not only pelvis pain, but c-section pain too. I haven't had a c-section before. I was hoping I could get away with just the gas for as long as possible so I could be in the bath to take the weight of my hips.

Anyway, probably rambled on enough again, I seem to be doing a lot of that lately.

Hope everyone is well, and I look forward to hear from you all soon!

Hey Gem, glad you're getting into the hospital physio, the exercises I was given while pregnant with DS were the only things that made the pelvic and hip pain easier to live with. Hope it starts working for you within a few weeks.

Elise got weighed this morning and has put on 140g in the past week, so is now at 3.7kg and is 50g above her birth weight, so glad that the booby juice is doing it's job
She's still fitting into size 0000 clothes though, the 000's just swim on her they are so big!
Got my first installment of the baby bonus today, so did some shopping after setting some aside in DS's bank account to get some new cages for the rodents and a new whipper snipper for hubby, $350 saved, another $650 left to go lol
Bought some cute new clothes for her today as well, warm things for winter as we didn't have much that will keep her warm in this freezing cold weather we've been having, so now she has a new jacket and a warm long-sleeved dress with matching leggings Next week I'll be paying off a layby at K-Mart which has another jacket, a jumper and some leggings, long-sleeved shirts and jumpsuits

    Hi everyone else!

Oh Gem - I haven't meant to appear as if I wasn't listening.... you've had a tough time! I don't remember getting your notifications of posts.... as it's not like me to ignore the posts in this thread.... I might just let them accumlate in other threads for a while though....

I hope you are feeling better with your flu and that the rest of your family is better.

I am so sorry about SPD - I had it too. Awful. I was lucky that it didn't quite get to the point of wheelchair, but then I was resting a lot anyway. It's just what you need to do. I know it's hard and not what you'd imagined, but it helps with the pain!!!

Glad that bubs is going well. She's growing well!

I can understand why you'd want to avoid a caesar, but in all honesty, pretty much once bubs is delivered, the SPD isn't anywhere near as bad. Well not for me. I wore some support pants which worked a treat for both SPD and casear recovery. Different people perceive and cope with pain differently. Yes, recovery from the caesar was painful at times, but I was not on regular pain meds by about day 3 or 4. The recovery took time, but it wasn't as awful as I expected it to be. And even though I had a time where I wished that Hannah's birth was different, I honestly don't care now, I am just so very glad to have her here.

Your experience with the epirdural sounds tough.... I've had one but it was ok.

I have never been induced and in a way that frightens me.

Funny how we all have our own fears.

Anyway, 2 May is NOT far away!

Jenna - Yay for Elise, she is going so well. And 2 weeks old! I hope her colic has settled down for you and her. Clothes shopping for your daughter is so exciting. I bought a jacket the other day. But the thing is they grow out of them so fast! We are trying to save some of baby bonus... always so hard not to spend it! Always things that we could spend the $ on..... how weird is this.. I was having a brain explosion... for the longest time when I saw "raven haired beauty" in your sig about Elise, I kept thinking "auburn". Not sure why. But anyway today I finally get it. BLACK!!!!! Just like her mummy. Yay.

Dory I just wanted to clarify first that I haven't had an epidural. I was left in stirrups for about 12 hours with DS but I hadn't had an epidural. It was easier to leave me their I guess as I only had a midwife and a student doctor for his delivery and I hardly seen either of them the whole time.

But yes c-section does scare me. I was totally against epidural for the first 3 births until I was in labour with DS, since then my opinion has changed slightly in that if I am in as much pain this time, I would want the option of epidural. I just don't like the fact that your pretty much paralysed while using it.

I really want to try for water birth, as I feel strongly that the water will help so much with the discomfort of my hips etc. I have read through the policy which is in place for SA in regards to waterbirth and unless I go into labour before 37 weeks, they should really have no reason to refuse it. They may try to talk me out of it because of the pelvic thing or because of our last pregnancy etc. My pelvic pain is not as bad now. I am still limited in movement, and I just have to accept that I cannot walk around at the shops, or walk down the street etc at the moment. I have DH to help me with the chair when I have to go out anywhere, but I am getting around the house ok at the moment, short burst here and there anyway. I just have to be sensible and not do to much. I have been keeping up with the pain relief too so that I am not in as much pain during the night, but I have also made a massive effort to get through my initial coughing fit and sleep on my back rather than my side. I think the only thing that the doctors could say to keep me out of the bath is how efficient I am at being able to get in and out of the bath, which shouldn't be too much of a problem I hope. I struggle with steps at the moment, but if I can keep improving in the next few weeks and not do anything to stress my hips to much between now and then, well, hopefully it will be ok.

I have been having heaps of BH contractions lately. last night I was having them a lot, a little less today. I notice they come more often when I am in the car too.

Been getting some more things sorted out in the house today with DH and Eldest DD help. Again though, trying to take it easy and not over do it. We have finally set out the bedrooms how we want them so bub will be sharing with middle DD eventually. We put the bassinet in our room now, and I am slowly getting organised to pack bags etc.

Oh here comes another BH now! I don't remember having this many BH with the other 3.

I am going to have a bath tonight as I am allowed to take the tape of my back tonight
