Lu- I am going to post you the cards Christy made! (just talked to her about it today in fact). The early intervention unit at my school has boardmaker but I don't know how much it costs- do you get Facsia or Dadec money?? I know my pupil's mum was looking at buying one with one of those allowances.

Maz- I am learning so much about the sensory stuff every day and I see how one thing work with one child and not another- YOU are your child's primary carer and know him and what works best.

Finally convinced school to pay for me to go to an inservice on ASD with Sue Larkey next week ! I am really excited to find out more info to help the boy in my class and any other spectrum kids I teach in the future. I think the dept ed is very lax in not providing these courses for all teachers. I will grab every handout I can and send them to anyone who wants them.

Aaah, I see. What a PITA that they wouldn't listen to you - and what good reason you had to object to it!! Glad you have a paed on your side, it would be AWFUL without that.

Oh tanks Mrsmac, I know how busy you are. I'm really crap at drawings and I've learnt how much he needs the visual to help him get him through changing activities.

2nd printer in a year has crapped itself. I can get boardmaker with my funding, I'm not sure if it's worth it or how long I will need it for. It's mainly a time thing, it's bloody fiddly and I'm barely keeping up with LIFE as it is.

It's more the visual so I can put things up on a chart - make bed, schoolwork time, play time, appointments etc and a clock or something. He's bloody amazing when I go through the days events and he likes ticking things off.

Holy cow - I just remembered seeing something Raven did....did she take pics of M doing various stuff and put that up on the wall or am I tripping?

I incorporated the boardmaker little cards with pictures of M doing things, so she would be in the bath or on swings etc... and I used that to get through. I didn't pay a cent for mine

We made a photo story about our school for the ASD boy in my class (well the EI teacher did with her boardmaker)
Would Cyclone work better with pictures that are directly related to him or could they be generic IYKWIM?

I have 2000 photos on one of my sites you can use for this kind of thing, and about 400 cartoons of common kid-friendly stuff on my homepage, but I can't post the link to either here ... PM me for the URLs

One of the sites has an analogue clock on it you can put times in and grab the image to print it off if you want.

I've had people use them for flash cards and educational games before. The hazard of being a cartoonist with a bunch of websites
