i think Emily Joy is a lovely name, it flows well, and sounds beautiful. and i agree, it is such a joy having a girl, so its well suited. hope you can sway DH a little bit, men are sooooo frustrating when it comes to baby names!!
I know an Emily Rose, you could go longer with something like....Emily Charlotte?
thanks girls. yeah I think Emily Joy is in the lead atm. I love that it means 'delight', which this new baby will be... (boy or girl!).

I think Emily Joy is a pretty name and I do love a family names for the middles name. My girls have my grandmother and mother's middle names.
Would he go for Emilia? (Amelia)
What about Emily Mia or Emily Tara?
hey faithful mumma - he probably would but my bestie just named her little girl amelia so i just wouldn't feel right also using the name iykwim. he doesn't 'mind" emma but i used to work with an emma who was a bit of a nit wit so really tarnished the name for me.
joy is my aunty's middle name... the fact my grandmother gave it to her means so much to me... my grandma was a dorothy, so not real keen to use ... she was always called dot though but i reckon that'd make my baby sound like a website lol emily dot smith!
Before our DD was born Dh was fixated on Madeleine. I had liked it at the beginning, but by the end of pregnancy had decided against it - because SIL would have made it maddy, and that really put me off. I liked Elanor. The day she was born, he looked at her, and said "hello Elanor"...so maybe plant a seed with an alternate first name, and see what happens.
That said Emily Joy is a lovely name.
